Grrrrreat tutorial! You not only gave the basics but you took the time to really demonstrate the true building blocks of this twirling method. You allow folks to see just how to go about it and you didn't push through it too fast. Cool skills you have, Sir! Thanks for sharing.
First; Great vid. I just became "cane dependent" at 73. I just want one spin/twirl at a time. Is there an easier way? Not all of the fingers on my right hand (bad left hip) work that well
Barry, it is a custom-made performance cane, designed by the world Kanemaster Drew Brown, and manufactured by Drew and myself. You can order these canes by contacting Jerry Stanley at 410.707.6271
REGARDING THE PINKY FINGER When the cane reaches position #4 as seen at 2:17 in this video, the pinky finger will become the axis around which the cane rotates. The momentum of the cane's movement is what carries the cane behind the remaining fingers to transition from position #4 to either position #1 or #0. You when the cane is sufficiently rotated toward position #0 or #1, and is located almost directly behind the remaining fingers, then you let your pinky finger go lax and by doing so your pinky will naturally slip away from the cane. So essentially it is a combination of the cane's own momentum and making your pinky finger go loose at just the right moment. ruclips.net/video/vqUa7dszq1o/видео.htmlm17s
yes you need to get used to your own cane's unique balance point, every cane will be different, then you start the twirl a bit off-center, so that by the time you are in position #2 or #3 then your fingers are crossing the balance point, and then when you get back to position #1 for the slip then you go backward across the balance point and start over again
Great video mate!!

please see my new comment with the answer you seek, thanks!
Sir, how do you balance the cane? One end is usually heavier than the other, how do you find the balance or does it matter? Thanks in advance
