This was hott! This Is/Was what I reQall from y'all. Speaking as a True Bruh and a Brother to all The D9, I am Very impressed with this Nupe's skills. He would likely get what I've been screaming for years re: how far too many of our [D9's] newer members have strayed from the historical stand out, or Owt for My Frat, style of our different orgs. Now, many of our ladies step with very little distinction. Several of our guys mimic The Bruhs' swims/kicks/slides/even hops. And, almost No younger Nupes or Sigmas seem to know how to twirl their canes. The latter rarely even have them anymore. The former often carry them around their campuses but still have No klue how to use them. I'm Not here to bash. I love The D9!! I'm simply paying due respect to my fellow '11 D9 Brother and suggesting that we stress & teach our performance traditions to our newer members. Perhaps, they require this in order that they may return to the time when we took pride in stepping with precision, style, rhythm, and distinction. None of us, okay except maybe the Sigmas-sorry but it's true, blatantly patterned our style after any other org's signature stuff. I respected, enjoyed, and was motivated by that. Now, I miss it because it's missing. This Nupe Brother gets bizzzzzeeee 1x with his topnotch kanework and I salute him for it. I hope Mannnnnnny younger Nupes watch this video and maybe put a bit of a moratorium on all the shimmying. It's lazy, at least somewhat feminine, and Not on what Nupes once relied to get thru a show. Precise, smooth, stepping and kanework was! Please find your way back home, young Nupes. Also, everybody Stop being jackasses when making folks!! Pretty soon, None of our orgs will be able to afford our insurance and then None of us will have to worry about any of what I've written because we'll all be "historical" as in defunct due to civil and criminal litigation. I believe Strongly in ensuring that folks earn, Not buy, their way into our Family. However, I also believe that discretion starts with members Not with candidates who are put through a process which we control and which often leaves them unwell but then are told to behave/walk/look/be discreet. It seems that'd be a Much easier thing for them to do had they Not had to endure quite as much as they had the night before and the night before that and so on. Be smart, D9 Family. Or, be dismantled. That's about where we are now. Anyway, great display of ol'skool Nupedom and I appreciate this Brother sharing. And, with that all said, I'm Owt!! #♎💜💛Is💪!! RQQ to The S.O.B.A.T.!! And, peace and love to The D9.
Much respect my D9 brotha. As a Nupe, I totally agree with what you said. I'm an Ole School Nupe, and we focused on our Kane work. We never practice the Shimmy. We got our Azzz beat if we dropped the Kane.
@levit05 Yo, NUPE! The first song playing in the background is "Walking On A Beep" by Super Blue. It was on the album "Power Funk & Space Disco" that was released back in 1997. The second song is "You're Not The Only One" by Aya.
@msteve0910 What's happenin, Nupe? The first song playing in the background is "Walking On A Beep" by Super Blue. It was on the album "Power Funk & Space Disco" that was released back in 1997. The second song is "You're Not The Only One" by Aya.
SNOTY nice work, no surprise that you killed it...but I'm going to need the playlist from this video...I appreciate the luxury of selection. Kool Whip Psi You know the rest.
See, I always wonder if this is the form that black Americans have when they brought over African stick fighting it matches stick licking in the Caribbean with spinning the cane but it focused more on the dancing side because most African martial arts had a dancing aspect and black Americans had to practice their martial arts and secrets and they often turn into dances. So I'm curious if this is the remnants of what the enslaved people did when they came over here and I'm comparing it to the other stick Arts of the African diaspora in the world
He's still got it, he was teaching the young bros at the Kappa Kastle in Harlem last week.
