Yo Yo Yo to those Nasty Nupes from the 90’s! 👌🏾 I grew up watching Nupes twirl in the 90’s and was absolutely mesmerized. I knew I had to become a Nupe one day so I could twirl a Kane. 👌🏾
Listen '11, I am an ♎Man but I used to Really enjoy how smooth and slick the Kappas were when they stepped during yard shows. I'm an HBCU product of the 90s in the south and of a time when the Elite Eight were all I knew and every organization stepped with distinction and pride in their traditions. Today, there is sooooooooo much overt mimicking and such a departure from what made us all great until it makes me sad and just wanna look away when I see the young members step. I can barely tell who's who anyway, esp without their colors on display, until they throw up their signs. Based solely on their shows, it's hard to tell. I have Noooooooooooooooooooooo respect for the sigmas who blatantly and shamelessly steal from us. They used to be great steppers who could twirl well and who incorporated fun and original moves into their shows. Now, they are clowns and caricatures of The Bruhs. #ThatIsNotOwt!!👎🖓 I don't get why the Alphas have begun to blow whistles and vogue vs actually step hard like they once did. I miss the Kappas knowing and showing how to twirl those canes with precision and smoothness. The shimmying is whack to me!! 🤔😐😔😒 They walk around carrying their canes but hardly Ever use them Forreal Forreal in their shows. Many younger Kappas don't even seem to know how to twirl. It all just makes me nostalgic and disappointed that these newer D9 members have strayed sooooooooo very far from the traditions of our collective and individual Black Greek organizations. There are a number of things my Bruhs have done which have been questionable re: class and character as well as genuine Frat-first and in its best interest thinking. However, there are also Many things they have done to make me exceedingly proud of them/Us. One of these things is that The S.O.B.A.T. hop, chant, march, and set it Owt today with the same energy, distinction, and "E" that we did 20, 40, 80 years ago and we remain true to our RQQTS!!!! For 107 years, we have been ourselves and of that; I am proud. This video showcased some Nupes!! I liked and respected it and it made me long for the time when the yards were abuzz with hoppin', marchin', steppin', strollin', chantin', cheerin', music and Black Greek org pride in tradition, well-choereographed shows, and distinction. Peace to all and GOD bless the D9.
@@calboy9804 Yeah, man, comin' out of high school in the late 80s we got to the yard, and wanted to be like the Nupes we saw canin' around Texas... It took hours of watching video tapes (which were rare at the time), but most importantly we secretly put in that work with the cane so we could already be sweet with the wood once we made line, etc. Greek Shows were huge in the 80s/90s, and there was no way we wanted to be on the sidelines workin' props and shit... The goal was to be step show ready before "crossin' the sands" so we could always represent. I appreciate the heartfelt comments and much respect on that 1911, bruh!
Man, everybody wants to simplify what we made mystical so they can participate without committing themselves to the craft... So-called "stroll off" competitions, which used to merely be our aisle routine, have replaced actual Greek Shows.
@@trojanworks1 Nupe, the more I watch this video, the more I appreciate Texas Nupes. It's videos like this that show modern Nupes how high the bar used to be and how far they're from it. We gotta get back to making kanework the focal point of Kappa entertainment. Sometimes, I wish the shimmy didn't even exist because it has become a distraction. I understand that we want to entertain the ladies, but I don't want women to dictate what we do. When I twirl my kane, I do it for me and for the frat. If the women like it, great, but if they don't, I don't care. I just want to keep the tradition going.

Aaahhh, yeah! Nupes of the 90's! Back when kanework was the true signature and not just shimmying alone.
Exactly. And quite frankly, I think the shimmy is getting played out.
Kanework will always stand the test of time.
We always knew flow made the show.
Terry Lee I concur
Say that, '11!!
Kanewowork first and forever!

Damn I miss the hell out of the Oldskool shit. Where did all the patty cake pat pat pat stepping like girls come from? Just look at the Showmanship!
