Can you also make a video showing how to do the coolant flush, brake flush, power steering change and aswell as transmission oil change. Thank you!
I bought my wife an AWD Q50S red sport last year. I only changed the oil once myself just to see how it is. Actually easier than my QX80 because of the heavy skid plate. I get the dealer to this all the time now, I can’t be bothered too messy. LOL.
Great video!
I have a '17 Q60S (Red Sport). I tried to access the oil filter using the trap door method at my 1st oil & filter change, and the oil drained more onto the cover plate than into the pan. Therefore, before I perform the oil & filter change, I remove the entire splash shield. It's easy - remove all the perimeter bolts, pop-up and remove the three (3) rivets in the center, and remove. Install in the reverse order. I use Rhino Ramps for performing the oil & filter change.
I have been using 5W30 Valvoline Modern Engine oil and a Nissan oil filter, changing it out every 4-5k miles. The change interval and oil/filter combo produce great Blackstone Labs analysis results ($28) - very low wear metals (FE, Al, etc.).
The biggest reason for a 4-5k change interval on a Direct Injection engine such as the VR30DDTT is the level of fuel (dilution) that slowly increases over time. On one of my longer change intervals, the fuel dilution hit 2%, which sheared the oil down to a 5W20 equivalent oil.
Hey Auto Fanatic, when will you be making a video of how to make those wooden jack stands? They look great!
I. Need those
Perfect video! Very well explanation. Just picked up a Q60s Red Sport 400 exactly a week ago. Absolutely, love car. Will be doing my own oil changes after the first oil change done by the dealership.
do your first oil change many dealers use junk oil grab some Amsoil or Mobile 1. Great car but make sure you get rid of the OEM tires they suck, watch my other videos on the Q50RS for more info
What kinda tires do you recommend that will fit the stock rims?
Jeffrey Igaña I got my Q50s 2 months ago, and I plan to do my own oil changes too, Mobil 1 5 - 30. For tire replacements, I will be getting the Michelin Super sports.
YES! Hand tighten the oil filter. I wish dealership techs would learn that rule.
Just did the first oil change on my 2018 q50 RS AWD. Took your advise on the Blitz drip pan and pliers . Drip pan saved me when i unscrewed oil filter . Oil traveled several inches to the left via plastic undercover and dripped outside of where I thought it would but was caught by the drip pan. Drip pan caught at least a quarter of a quart of oil that would have ended up on my driveway! Pliers worked OK , but took a few tries and repositions to get to work, might have been because car was new and filter was new and put on at factory
OP I would buy a 2 piece set of these wood stands if u would be interested in selling a pair! Seriously a brilliant idea for any work under the car that doesn’t include having the tires removed! Setting up jack stands seriously blows!!!
Please do more reviews on this car. Just got one partially because of your review. Would like to know how yours is doing.
I can't find a solution to solving how to pull the oil filter out without making a mess. Good vid.
Remove the under pan.
When I owned a 2015 Q50 3.7L it took 5W-30 and now that I have a 2018 Q50 Sport, it takes 0W-20. Strange, great video by the way.
Since when have they been selling Jenga ramps. Dare you to pull a block out 😂
Simple and easy just the way I like it. Only difference I would use a Mobil 1 synthetic oil filter. Great job 👏
I would spend the time to remove the skid plate. Also post a torque spec for drain bolt. Nice car...
Good video! Like your thoroughness on the job. I've read some other folks comments and feed back. All wanting some more information like how is this car to own. If this is an AWD version etc. Please consider answering these as it helps other owners or people like me who are considering this model of Infiniti. Thanks
I had an aluminum engine splash shield on my old 05' G35 , wish they have one for my new Q50s.
Mobil One is ok as long as you are paranoid about oil burning because that oil burns quicker than most so you need to check the level more frequently between oil changes. I recommend Castrol GTX .
Ok, but video on how you made those little wooden lifts??
Dan Guzman i will do a video on those soon
Also interested on a video of the wooden blocks
Dan Guzman respectfully, if you can’t figure it out by simply looking at it, you shouldn’t be building anything, or have access to tools.
Auto Fanatic can you show change oil on Infiniti q50 3.0t luxe please? And I am really interested on the wooden jack ??
@@autofanaticcars Hi I would like to know the name of your wood stand for change oil. And all the tools please. Thanks buddy.
You can get the original (recommended) 5qt of Nissan 0w-20 oil, oem nissan filter, and new oil pan crush washer for $25 as a oil change kit off amazon. Just did my oil change on my Red Sport. Look up Genuine Nissan 0W-20 Oil Change Kit 15208-65F0E.
I just bought the OEM oil filter 15208. Is the OEM better than the fram filter?
Hey Af!! For the lumber stands . What are the dimensions?? Im looking to do the same thing you did.
Thanks for posting this I'm going to get a Q50 as my next car, I thought it was gonna be one of those jobs with a pump like a Benz or Jag, but it's just a simple regular oil change. Great post , straight to the point and no info overload.
Q50's are good i used to have an 08 civic si its a very good car too and very reliable i put down 340k in it and still going strong but i thought i need a new car since i had my civic for 12 years so i decided to go with a Q50 and im loving it. Right now its bone stock but im thinking of throwing a JB4 tune in it soon and probably a downpipe and an AMS intake.
Good video. I’m curious about those blocks though. Seems like a bit of a hassle to have to jack the car up and lower it onto those. Why not just buy rhino ramps? Pay about $50 once and get a lifetime of use.
Rhino ramps are only good for certain work environments I.e on a concrete driveway or on paved roadway (asphalt) but NOT on a garage or any place that has somewhat of a slick floor. This is for the obvious reason (hence ‘slick floor’) because the ramps tend to slide very easily when driving up onto them, ESPECIALLY w the Qs and all other cars with a low ride height and even more so when a front lip/splitter installed! You will just frustrate the hell outnlf yourself attempting to use them as you will just plow the ramps forward and not ascend even a few inches onto the ramps.
That’s being said I have a set of RRs in like new condition for $20 + shipping of any1 is interested, lol.
I cant believe your using fram filter OMG
if Fram filters were so bad like fools complain about on blogs and forums they would be bankrupt from liability lawsuits and out of business, think about the big picture here.
Is the Mobile 1 Extended Performance any better than the regular one?
Very nice vid. Thanks for the step by step.
Glad it was helpful!
Fram makes one of the WORST, if not the worst oil filters. NAPA, Wix, or AmsOil filters.. Wix and NAPA are easy to get. Take them apart. If you do you will agree... How did you get the car up on your nice home made stands?
always use two good floor jacks, takes minutes, it is quicker for me to jack up an entire car and put on these work stands or jack stands than to pull out and set up one of those Quick Jack units. I sent my Quick Jack back when they came out, too damn heavy to set up and took up too much space for me.
Nice video, I look forward to the 350 oil change and the video on those wooden lift blocks.
The wooden jack stands how it’s made video
Great job, thank you for your content.
Glad you enjoy it!
Great video ! what's funny is that it looks like Nissan hasn't changed the filter design, I had a 99 Infit. I30t with the same filter ! VQ30, that was one hell of a well built car ! it was FWD but handled so well for a front drive I miss that car.
I had a 99 I30 (non t) well built car for sure!
what are the wood measurements? and im guessing you used a jack to slide them under.
Any videos on how to make those wood block stands
How reliable is that turbo engine? I drove a q50 from Hertz. Love the ride and performance. However I’m a little nervous about twin turbos
Thanks for this video!! :)
Great video thank you
The 5 qt jug from Walmart is a LOT cheaper and faster.
smack9x it takes more than 5 quarts plus i get a great discount on oil for my shop
@@autofanaticcars 1 5qts jug + 1 at and you'll save more than $15
Done exactly the same way on the previous 3.7
you can use mobil extended performance oil and change it every 15k miles or a year whichever comes first.
I HIGHLY DO NOT RECCOMMNED THIS. Change at 3500 to 5000 the most for engine safety
5W 30 is incorrect engine oil for VR30DDTT. owners manual recommends only 0W20.
I have a 2019 and they told me 0W-20 oil for my Q50 3.0?
You should be fine with 0w 20 or 5w30 ...It readily means that the 0 oil will flow well and better at a cold temperature more than 5W-30 oils even while maintaining the same viscosity.
How's the Red Sport holding up? A few questions. Did you get it new or used? If used, how many miles did you have on it and how many miles now?
Hi nex time show the number the filter and oil
How often do you do the oil change for this car?
have you done your atf? dealership told me "life time" fluid does not need to be replace
What are the things that went under the wheels ??
I don't know about putting a fram filter tho. Fram filters are low quality.
what a mess when taking off the filter. I'm gonna have to fab up a better drain ramp.
What are those 2 aluminium looking boxes in the engine bay?
intercoolers
those are lunch boxes
25 ft-lbs for oil drain plug with crush gasket
Why not a bosh filter or a k&n filter I dont really like buying fram filter
The Fram xtraguards are pretty good and comparable to other premium filters.
IMO Fram Ultra Synthetic is the only one I trust from the brand. On a Corolla you can get away with conventional oil & basic Fram Extra Guard, but in a 400hp sport sedan? I won't take that risk.
its a leased car for 1 more year why go crazy, not worth owning outright. you drive it and toss is away in 2-3 years if it blows up let the warranty worry about it. Only cars I own outright like my vintage cars and Shelby i go the extra mile with what goes in and on it thats just my thinking and logic with cars these days.
Auto Fanatic this is why I only buy new cars. Can’t trust used cars , especially performance ones.
I didnt know you could use 5w30 in turbocharged engines. I used it in my g35 and g37 but i was told by my dealer to use 0w20. Im not saying you cant i was just like 🤔. Anyway good video i haven't changed my oil yet on the rs400 im gonna wait till i hit 3000k miles. Is it your first oil change on the rs400 if so how many miles did you change it at?
17redsport q50 yeah you can owners manual mentions it and so do the techs i know at the dealer who use it in their personal cars. i change oil every 5000 miles this is the third oil change so far.
I have a q50 3.0t also and I did my first oil change. I really don’t understand why they switch to 5w-30 cause if you really want to upgrade the 0w-20 you should probably do 0w-30 instead. It will have the same 0 viscosity at cold temps to get the oil circulated and when it get up to operating temp they will both be 30 viscosity for that upgrade against viscosity breakdown from heat
5-30 is recommended for 2.0l turbo not for 3.0 TT. It clearly said on 2019 Q50 manual
Is this a awd or rwd?
Great video!
I suggest you specify which Q50 Red Sport model you’re performing this oil change on (RWD or AWD). You’re performing this oil change on an AWD model, I believe. I own a 2017 Q50 Red Sport RWD - the location of the Drain Plug and Oil Filter is different compared to the AWD model. Also, the RWD model has a different Bottom Engine Cover compared to the AWD model.
Anyways, keep up the great work on these vids for the Red Sport!
Why did you do 5W-30 instead of 0W-20 like the manual calls for?
The 5W-30 holds up better against the higher boost on the red sports. Seen blown motors as a result of the 20.
Nissan dealership near me does full syn Mobil1 for only $50-60. Only reason to go to a stealership
T20s Grunt are you sure its not the recycled junk every dealer uses in 55 gallon drums? unless you watch them do it you you never know what they pour in. i don't trust dealers these days too many shenanigans
Auto Fanatic I was watch every time, fresh bottles of Mobil1. I was originally skeptical as well
I wonder if they fell of the truck lol you never know these days. I personally like to wrench on cars as its part of my therapy
i highly doubt they using "full syn Mobil1 oil" they use oil comes in bulk/55 gallon drum most likely cheap generic dyno oil
Great video, but I have the same car and I thought they require 0-20w????
can use both, i prefer the 5W
Thank you bro.
I just bought a 2018 red sport. The owner's manual says 0-20 on the 3.0tt and 5-30 for the 2.0t (Mercedes engine)
I change only half the oil and put on a used filter that I clean with brake clean. Cars been running great for many years.
Why would you not remove the bottom cover rather than let the oil drip inside that thing. What a mess.
My brand is mazda, is it the same process?
not sure i never worked on a Mazda but should be pretty much the same process. Just remember to be safe working under the car always and dispose of oil as I show here.
Why didn't you use Amsoil on the Q50
my local distributor could not get it to me in time thats mainly why, Mobil 1 is fine as well this car isn't sporting a high tech race engine like my Gt350
Auto Fanatic I'm using Amsoil signature series 0w20 on my 2017 q50 red sport. The engine is quieter, changing it every 7500 miles. The oil comes out clean even after a couple of 1/4 mile track days.
Amsoil is the best, it stopped the loud lifter tap on my GT350 plus i have not burned a drop since i switched on my first oil change, I will be changing the GT350 again this spring, Royal Purple is garbage you gotta hear the inside stuff i hear from the oil reps on all the lawsuits against RP for failures it is totally nuts. I wish Amsoil made more normal oils for my older muscle cars as they can not use synthetic. I use Joe Gibbs and Rotella on those cars.
Make a mess? Car maintenance is all about making messes.
Disliked for Fram filter, which doesn't filter anything
The Red Sport community is growing and your input would be appreciated, thanks!
No fram filters, dude!!!(((
Worst on market ‘
Made from paper inside.
Fram for such luxurious car???
Are you kidding??
ikr can't believe some people cheap on oil filter when that's very important part of the engine for an extra $5 you can throw some mobil 1 or k&ns frams filters are crap you see on youtube opening filters it's ok for a beater car but not this sports car
Fram oil filter 👎. Why not a Mobil One filter? $10.00 at Walmart.
Wow that oil was dirty.Dont forget your turbos use oil to keep turbo fans lub.
I always rinse my crankcase with about a pint of kerosene. Cleans that last bit of gunk at the bottom of your crankcase.
Word of advice never use anything Fram pure Chinese made trash
What a cluster! Plastic oil pan will deform and leak in 50k miles.
Lmao
