People like this customer run the equipment till it breaks then say I didn’t touch a thing…we know you didn’t touch a garden hose or the phone or filter for routine maintenance.
Most people don't even know what routine maintenance is. It works, therefore they use it and when it doesn't we get videos.
When you mow the lawn, ALWAYS point the mower discharge at your AC condenser coil! 😒
Negligence can be a fatal blow to an HVAC system.
Curtis...you're an angel for working for this population. God bless you!
The not care to do any basic maintenance population?
You think she knows how to clean an ac Coil
You really earn your $$ and I don't think many AC service guys or companies where I live would do what you did there. They'ed quote a new system.
Did you say there was raw sewage around the condenser? That's vile; I might have had the landlord deal with that first. There was a lot to that one; nice fixes.
You really go to the next level. I'll tell you that for nothing. You should keep a couple pieces of 2X10 in van for places like that where you can span the dangerous opening in the attic. And one good thing the goddamn smoke detector WASNT chirping the whole time you there anyways
Black Widow is Not so Common but most folks don’t realize that most homes have Brown Recluse. 🤔
I remember having to do 2 of these in one day when I worked for an HVAC company that scheduled everything for us. I didn't even last a year
You got her going again. Man that thing was filthy. Good job
Don’t shoot the HVAC guy
Black widows are very common in CA. Usually don't see them in daytime, just the egg sacs and webs. But at night they come out to feed. if they are hungry they will wait by the spider web until something comes along.
It sometimes baffles me why I get home from a day of running calls, cussing my job, and running what ifs over and over in my mind, just to watch you run yours. I guess it must be a sort of comfort in knowing we’re all getting burnt up mentally and physically this time of year 😂. Happy 4th of July, brother! Hope you’re able to enjoy this holiday and weekend in it’s entirety.
Thanks. I’m working all of Thursday and Friday, but I may get the whole weekend.
Haha I feel that bruddah
Hope you are getting well paid to put up with that nonsense. Make the money and take time off in the slow season.
you walked in on a train wreck that all from poor maintenace great of taking care of it i enjoy all your videos
That thing really was Ruud!
The ceiling fan on that porch has definitely seen better days.
The reason after taking a couple of HVAC courses, I chose a different career! 👍🏻
Maybe use a better marker so it does not fade.
Also mark it in multiple places.
Great job Curtis that filter was past nasty some people don’t have a clue about maintenance thanks for the video
You bet
Hey Curtis, amazes me how folks neglect system maintenance, which would go a long way to keep their A/C cooling. It's not that hard but guess when you have uneducated folks, they just don't understand. It keeps you in business for sure. Great video, love your content and Git-R-Done attitude brother! God bless you sir, stay safe in your travels! Wishing you a wonderful 4th July holiday!
Thanks 🙏
I loved the start of the video. Had me sitting here a tad before 5am laughing like a fool as you caution us about select spiders, and what may provoke them... then proceed to shove your hands right into everything. hehehe probably just me, but after watching the entire video I'm still laughing about that. Great job as usual, keep them coming.
Excellent work curtis 👍✌️
Thanks 👍
I have cleaned so many this bad or worse, in place. If Ipulledthat one itwould be replaced. Good job.
Some people, they think they can run the unit in the ground and think it be an easy fix when they call you. I bet they neglect their cars too.
Well Curtis, a good clean up there, that system sure was neglected, did you leave a box of spare filters with her when leaving 😉 Au
if that is raw sewage being alowed to run the codes an epa would be all over that owner for that to get fixed
It makes baby jesus cry thinking about what jack leg put that system in originally. TXV bulb in the wrong spot, jigsaw puzzle of a trap for the evap coil, and they also pinched down that 3/8 evap coil line down to what? is that 3/16" or 1/4"?
Good Lord. That was terrible. Good work sir.
Must be a rental house 😊
Is it obvious
Owner of property needs to be advised to keep up on HVAC maintenance. That was sick to let it get that bad for a paying tenant.
You have expectations as a renter. I’ve seen just how thin the walls are down south. Insulation is a afterthought. Those cooling bills must be high. One for dirty and two no insulation. Let’s not talk about all the shifty workmanship from prior people. It would drive me crazy. I get frustrated that I can’t turn my boiler off in the summer so I can keep things lubed up and have hot water. Clean my furnace every year. $400 we’ll spent!
@@bailles Property owners need to maintain their property. Who knows how long this tenant has lived there, 1 year, 2 years? My guess, that filter was a good 8 years old. Garbage disposals, HVAC, faucets, drains and hose bibs etc. are all on the property owner when they need repaired. That water pressure Curtis was dealing with is a shame.
Is that replacement Freon flamible
If you are married or have a gf, if they watch these videos, I'm sure they would have a newfound appreciation for what you do to bring home the bacon. I have had ac issues I know I could fix, but I ain't going in that attic. Awesome vids.
Lint and dust
House was built mid 60's. That cieling insulation is mid 60's code, optional. Didn't flatten out all that much. Oh the days when energy was cheap as dirt. Single pane wood sash windows as well, good air flow 😎
Wow, great video and you did a real nice job thank you. I wonder if there are any HVAC repair guys that would take out a coil and clean it and then put it back in. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that on a RUclips video. Nice job. Thanks for your hard work
to totally put in all the gas into a system from a tank, use your reclaimer (reverse flow) so u dont lose any refrigerant. FYI works fanastic!
I had a western black widow hanging out by my pool yesterday!
Love your videos!!!!!!!!!
Is this a rental or a home owner? Absolutely ridiculous!
What’s your Guess ? 🤔
Great job guy
great cleaning tech
Respect voor je werk top 🎉
Thanks
When checking a motor, what signs do you look for when needing to replace it, i see you move the shaft but side to side or up and down?
side to side gives one an idea of bushing wear, up and down tells you end play. It should spin nice and free with a minimum of both. Try it on a used one compared to a new and you will get a feel for the differences. You could use a dial indicator to test both but that is a bit over kill, I never looked for the actual specs for runout and endplay. Good question, now I gotta go look! Thanks!
A lot of people don't know that they have to maintain a system let alone change a filter. I take five minutes to explain what they need to do.
I recall I went out to a no cool resi call because the cu coil was impacted and falling apart. His dog also found his favorite spot on the coil. So I explained after the coil is replaced, he wash it every month and he put up a small fence to keep the dog away from it. Dog will be sad I'm sure.
Great job Curtis. Another system brought back from the bone yard.
i’ve found door mats always work better than air filters .
I like the longer videos. No insulation in that attic. It’s not going to help them out at all. She’s going to be like you fixed it too good now our electric bill is 600 bucks a month. Lol.
Some home owners used blue filter came with the evap coil or recommended by the installers I found the dust on evap coil like blanket blocked air flow . I recommended to uses better quality a/f 7-8 micron plus like filtret brand
That system is a piece of Shy-Zahhhh
carry some spider spray an spray the area
New vacuum pump? Nice
Nice work Curtis. Did i say that is 422B? Mixed with R22? I have never use that, wonder if its cheaper than 407C/427A that I’ve been using. Please and thanks 🙏
422B, but not mixed
Wish you included the price per job in these videos.
More condenser carpet
It looks like a previous tech left an old cap just lying in the tray?
No I was talking about the outside unit the one with the spiders and all that lint
Thank God I do commercial.
Dadgum if I would have cleaned it before any work was done
What is your torch setup and tip type?
If I may ask what was the name brand of the filter you installed and where can I get them? I'm looking for a good filter that doesn't restrict air flow too much.
If you Neglect it, you’re going to Sweat.
I enjoyed every bit of that!
Glad you liked it!
29:30 ... And that refrigerant is only slightly flammable.
Shame that other technicians can not remove the old parts they replaced. Old capacitors?
Dam hahaha yall not gonna short me are you hahahaha dam haah that’s messed up
No picking your nose or biting your finger nails after this repair job. :~)
I used dollar store Awesome for coils and blowers, beat Calgon chem...
That Hvac was bad 😮. I had called a couple companies to add 2lb of 410A freon to my unit, they both charging $120/lb ☹. Is that the going rate for 410A ?
Yes..that's fair.
Definitely need some blown in insulation; after a clean up. Thanks for the video.
Down came the rain and washed the spiders out, ...
How did the blower wheel look? Man that system was filthy...I hope you got her a case of filters !
I agree on the condenser fan motor...they will keep running as long as the bearings are free and not bound up and for who knows how long. Best to save that money for down the road, good call.
That's one nasty AC unit
It seems that it’s all rentals owned by slumlords 😢😢😢🤬🤬🤬
at least there isnt a liquid line restriction, sheesh is that 1/4 to 1/8" on the LL?
Well, you know your ball valve works
Nope fuck striders I’m done!!!!
Who was supposed to be maintaining that HVAC system? Looks like it hasn’t been touched in 20 years.
Whoever is that landlord for that property is not one you should have as a customer, If the landlord doesn't care why should you?
He pays his bills without complaining. And my prices aren’t low. That’s a good customer.
@@HVACGUY I guess that is the bottom line if he pays. I as a landlord I'm too poor to let my units run that way. Money talks.
Hey, COMPLETE SYSTEM CHANGE OUT TIME! 😅
Curtis, you should wear the gloves like Steve Lav. This post makes me glad to be retired.
How come you don't try to vacuum all that length and dust off first before you spray it down
I presume you are speaking of the coil he pulled. There is no vacuum nozzle that will fit more than two inches in before it won't go anymore because of the v-shape. Most of the time, there is grease and hair spray embedded with the dust which makes glue. Water is the least damaging way to clean the fins. If the fins bend over no air flows through so you have to be careful with whatever weapon you chose to attack it with. Rinse off the surface dirt, throw on the foam and give it a bit, rinse and volia! That foam cleaner is border line magic on all that goop! Stuff is designed for just that purpose. Remember also those coils condense all the time, like a glass of ice, so its instant mud.
So what would have been the bill on something like this? What would a new coil have been? Just wondering...Must be renters... or just stupidly lazy.
Measurequick has taught me much
The condenser coil was filthy. and the furnace filter was plugged solid. Why would you check anything out before you cleaned the coil and replace the filter? Nice job cleaning that A coil. Airflow should be the first thing to check, no?
