I enjoyed the Video, thanks! I modified a couple of my adjustable wrenches that wouldn't open quite enough. Take out the setscrew and turn the thumbwheel until the movable jaw comes out, put it in a Vise then get a hacksaw and cut another slot in the jaw to get another turn on the thumbwheel. I could get them to open another 1/8 to 3/16 wider and it doesn't hurt the wrenches. Crescent, Xcelite and Diamond. Looking forward to your next Video! 👍🇺🇸
Your amazing at putting all those hats on and no help. Good job. Note I would recommend using wet rag or heat block blankets when you’re brazing next time and all the time. And get a little more feather in your torches flame, less oxygen.
For a natural bug repellent try lemongrass, peppermint and tea tree oils. You can spray your arms or moisten a cloth and wear it around your wrist or neck.

Quick question if anyone cares to answer. Two rooms on the sunset side of the house. Multiple HVAC companies have some out and said no issues. These rooms are consistently hotter in summer and cooler in winter. They are closest to the attic mounted air handler. Usually a three degree difference between these rooms and the rest of the house.
If I understand you right, it could be they are not as insulated? It only stands to reason also if they are smaller rooms, they usually will heat or cool off quicker than the rest. Try leaving the doors open to get a good circulation going and see if that helps. Also make sure you have an inch or so of space between the floor and the bottom of the doors. That way you have some circulation when the door is closed. Hope that helps
It's z du t issue. Being closer to unit. Means placement on supply plenum. If eacr room has it's own tap. Try and relocate the two taps. Check for dampers. Some installers close off the first few taps to allow more air for for longer lines.
@wendelfears1027 No dampers, the airflow from the registers has been checked to be in spec. I asked about blower fan speed being too high, never got a good answer. I have two closed registers in a closet and storage room that I am thinking of relocating to these rooms.
Being the load side of the house..should have a higher r factor of insulation by at least 2or 3. Check the inner wall for insulation.occasionally spots get missed and that causes a big loss when cooling and heating. Considering heat load transfer thru walls.
Hi Curtis, When you recover refrigerant from the evaporator with the condensing unit are you likely to also get ambient air from the evaporator leak? Thanks for answer
I live in the central Indiana area, north of Indianapolis. I have a seven-year-old trane heat pump and the water has started dripping off the evaporator coil and down into the base of the heat pump. Not all of the water is dripping down the coil and into the drip pan along the edges… it is gripping straight from the A coil, straight downward. This is very frustrating! I have had multiple HVAC companies out here to look at it. One said that I need to replace my drip pan so I basically told them to get lost because that’s certainly not the problem here. Another company came out and replaced the drip pan drainage pipe and then said they are at a loss they don’t know what to do. So I am stuck! I have called trane corporate and given them my information and no one has gotten back to me yet. It’s very frustrating, I have a 10 year warranty on parts but nobody can tell me what’s really wrong here. Do I need a new A coil? At this point, I don’t really know. They repair man have checked the pressure and said that it’s correct so I don’t believe that low refrigerant is the issue. I’m at a loss and I’m frustrated.
Ameristar isn't from the Trane line. It's distributed by Ingersoll Rand which own Trane. It's just a cheaper option meant for rentals and hotels. Don't get me wrong, they are hot garbage. It's funny to see the outside box. Ameristar made in China. I sold Trane, Ameristar, & Mitsubishi mini splits for years at Lyon Conklin a subsidiary of Ferguson.
Hi Curtis, you got tricked by the old piston deal you always check the piston size to make sure that it’s not the same size if it’s not then you always use your old piston that you removed out of your old call into your new call just goes to standard reason, but it’s been designed that system has been designed with that particular with that particular system in it I guess you know that by now I’m just kind of pulling your leg. It happened to me before too so you say it’s all part of the text stuff signing out for 20 years retired now Tallahassee. Fred.
Absolute garbage units. Trane dealer I worked for sold them for about 2 years and stopped. The heat pumps go through defrost boards and sensors like crazy. Units are trash and not worth a dime.
Noticed that you were wasting short peaces of your silver soider weld the short piece on the copper and then weld the full rod on the short rod then continue to weld the short piece on the copper no waste of silver solder
When checking at the condenser charge only with subcool. The superheat only has to be between 4-24°. If you check you auperheat inside then your superheat will be 10-30° different inside than outside. This a common mistake in residential refrigeration. So charge the condenser to its nameplate subcool and the check your superheat inside. 6 inches feom your valve. Then adjust your valve accordingly. In commercial most times you will not have a subcool to read so you charge theough superheat. Hope you learn
That's a nice repair Curtis 👍 Au

You shoulda just bought a metric adjustable. 😂😂😂😂
Excellent fix curtis Riley is growing up fast.👍
Sure is!
Another great job 👍👍
Thanks again!
Great job Curtis.
Great video Curtis!! Looking forward for next one , keep up the great work.
Hey Curtis
I enjoy your videos. You may like a clear or tinted face shield while brazing from above inside those condensers. Thanks!
Nice save on the compression fitting Curtis . Pretty crappy that the new replacement coil doesn’t have a drain pan attached. 👍👍🇨🇦
Wait wait I got this one ..... NOTHING CAN'T STOP 🛑 A Trane except a Compressor or EVAP Coil and it gets even Harder to start the Trane!!!!!!
That system looks just like Bosch stuff. Probably made in the same factory in China. Great job.

There is a Trane product made overseas that was designed to compete with lower cost contractor-grade units.
OxBox, uses LG compressor. I've had one for 2 years and have had 0 issues. Longevity i'm not so sure on.

It's made by Midea, a Chinese company. It's the same company that makes Bosch heat pumps
Thanks for sharing, picked up some tips!
Glad it was helpful!

@jthonn insulated the same as the rest of the house. Doors are usually open. One of two returns is in hallway between the rooms.

It was originally called Ameristar. I’ll call them Ameri junk.
I agree !!
I have two Ameristars. Obviously a different model. Both are still working great after 17 years. Did just have to replace the blower motor on one.
Nice work as usual. I like your co-star.
Thank you very much!

Is that Tranes Yugo model, AmeriTrane.
Those Tranes must be made by Norfolk Southern as often as they go off the rails
This is what is called a play on words; very creative.
Too bad they didn’t call you earlier in its life. Running with 0-5 SH for
extended?time not good for it. Glad you caught the piston
Also Curtis how long was the original coil installed?
you could check delta ,if you do not have 18 it needs a bigger piston,or you could have look at the #,thanks for sharing.
Often wondered 🤪 who can Afford a TRANE HVAC Unit ? The same people that buy a Cadillac Escalade ?
Nice job! Reily is getting big.

Great job btw. Also, do you have a favorite mini split?
You caught it anyway and a mighty moderate co-star! Blessings 2 yall
i like your work, you just got a new subsciber.
If you use Emory cloth on the lines before you cut it you won't get anything in the lines
Excelent job Mr Curties

Oxbox? How old was the evaporator
Just curious, why you chose not to use an uncased coil with TXV/TEV instead of this with piston?
The old coil was a piston, the replacement coil came with a piston. Pretty self explanatory
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it's getting harder to find coils uncased.
Yes, it has gotten hard to find.
Those aren’t made by Trane btw. Made in China by Ingersoll Rand. While Ingersoll Rand owns Trane they brought this product with them before Trane
Mexico really.

Oh man I never like to pump down R410A... That's risky... I have seen way too many compressor explosions so I rather recovery it
Does Schrader intentionally design Defects into their Valves so they have a Guaranteed Revenue Source ? 🤪 They are Tops as far as Failures go. 🤔👎

So much for fancy coated coils too…
Have you tried using Milwaukee M12 tubing cutters?
Yes
yes they sure should have sent you a full assy
