I have been ridding motorcycles for 55 years .I started out on Honda’s in the early 70’s and purchased my first Harley Davidson in 2004. I purchased several Harleys over the years ,the last being the 2017 Road Glide Special. I absolutely loved everything about the Road Glide and it fit me like a glove. I was out riding and rode past a dealership in Marietta Ga and there was a Bright Blue 2018 Goldwing DCT parked out front. I made the mistake of setting on the bike. I was impressed at how easy the bike was to get off of the side stand compared to the Road Glide. This Particular dealership has a Eagle Rider rental Program. And I rented a 2018 that they had in the rental fleet. I spent the next three days riding in the north Ga mountains and was in love with this bike. The technology that Honda packs into the current Goldwing is incredible. The new Goldwing is the best of all worlds, Sports Bike, Touring Bike and Cruiser. I have finally come to the conclusion that comparing all of these bikes will absolutely make You crazy. I still have my Harley but needless to say it gets ridden to bike night events, and around town. When I am going on a trip or longer rides ,especially in a lot of stop and go traffic I am going to be on my DCT.
You have to spend some time with the DCT Wing to understand it but then it becomes completely natural. After 5 years I've reached for the clutch 2 or 3 times but go for the nonexistent cruise on my other 2 bikes all the time.
As I have stated before. If you can have only one motorcycle and your riding is primarily street or highway, but you also need long touring capabilities, the Goldwing DCT is the only way to go. Outside of the long, high mileage reliability, it is the other features such as hill hold, forward and backward creeper gear, ect. This is a motorcycle that is as easy to run around town with as it is to run cross country and does it with elegance. As far as rumble and sound is concerned, as we get older and more experienced these things become less relevant. I don't own a GW, but if I get rid of my Victory Bagger, I am more than likely going to look for the current generation GW. I know a few people that have them who have ridden for decades. They have told me that they will never go back to the typical American Bagger. I can tell you when I ride with them, it is me sweating to keep up, not them. Is it a perfect motorcycle, no such thing. But the GW riders I know keep there bikes for decades and rack up a lot of miles. Many of the American Bagger dudes are lucky if they keep theirs more than a couple years. If you can't stand your motorcycle enough so that you are looking for your next one 6 months after you purchase it, you have the wrong brand or motorcycle. A hooker may give you a thrill for a moment, but a beloved wife winds your clock for a lifetime. The GW is the wife!
Honda Owners - Love the reliability / Harley Owners - Look how much I spent on my bike since I bough it / BMW Owners - Love the handling and the Quality. Who cares what people think. Ride it, enjoy it and then get another brand or model in a few years.
Harley riders only desire is to be continually melt by Harley-Davidson and those writers have more trouble with their motorcycles than any other motorcycle manufacturer in existence So it's better not to even read their comments they only know one thing those lumps upside their head they keep getting from Harley-Davidson LOL ! ! ! 🗨️😅💦
I’ve owned 5 Harleys, a 97 Valkyrie, 2010 R1200GS and a 2018 Goldwing. I absolutely love the wing. It’s the finest, fastest, most comfortable and most bad ass bike I’ve ever had. Although, I wish Honda would have branded it an F6B because I hate admitting that I ride a Goldwing now.
I’ve owned Harley road glide cvo. K1600. Gs1250. Triumph rocket 3. The gold wing is my favourite bike. It’s not the fastest, it’s not the most powerful, it’s not got the best sound system, it’s not cheap. But as an all round package nothing touches it. My friend has done 250,000 miles on his. My 2023 has been such a joy this year after beating prostate cancer. It’s a bike you can enjoy all day every day. I love it.
I picked up a leftover 2021 in the same paint as you but in manual about a month ago. I came from a Road King and have owned other Harley's and two Ducati's. I really like this bike but there are a few nagging points. Every storage compartment gets hot, the bags, the up front cubby and even the cubby with the gas release button. My phone has overheated a few times in the cubby when using Android Auto so I am trying to find a work around for that. I found that if I plug it in the left saddlebag without a case it still gets hot but has yet to shut down. However, you need a wireless Android Auto dongle to do that which I already had. I have never liked side opening saddlebags but am learning to live with these. The first thing I did with my Multistrada was replace the saddlebags with Givi Trekkers. I would highly recommend the saddlebag lid organizers. I put them in mine, they are great for holding a bunch of things I typically carry with me. Ironically, I just ordered the same seat as you without the heat but with a driver back rest with the orange stitching. I can't wait to get it. I just did a 1k weekend trip from NJ to WV and it was a blast. In my first month I put 2300 miles on it. The Gold Wing 50th anniversary is coming up so I would expect at least some improvements if not a completely redesigned model for that. Great video.
Great review, and what a great-looking Goldwing you have. There are always those who hate no matter what. I am an industrial designer and I believe Goldwing is so cool that I purchased one last year. This is the greatest touring bike I ever rode and I ride many bikes. So don't pay any attention to haters and just keep on riding your fabulous Goldwing.
In Manual mode (which I never use) the upshift is done with the plus paddle and the downshift is also done with the minus paddle. Here is the important part, the downshift is automatically done in Manual mode if you slow down, even going all the way down to 1st gear without touching a thing. This is handy in case you forget. (It happens)
I ride a 2006 Harley Ultra Classic I love this old bike it's not fast it's just big and comfortable It just fits me and I fit it. I had a Goldwing before this one and only Harley I own. I love the Goldwing it was a hard choice to make to decide to get the ultra. I've owned a lot of different Honda motorcycles three wheelers four wheelers Honda is a great company. I do love the looks of your bike I think it is absolutely beautiful. The love and hate of different brands it's not just with motorcycles it's with cars and Pickups just as bad even Farmers, one likes Green Tractors wouldn't have any other color one loves red tractors wouldn't have any other color I never knock someone else's brand just because it's not what I prefer. I've never really been true to any brand of anything. just whatever I like when I'm ready to buy and can afford. Believe me no brand of anything is even close to perfect. They all have their good points and their bed points. Harley Riders don't even get along the road glide riders hate the Batwing fairing and the Batwing fairings Riders hates the Road Glide fairing. Goldwing Riders are the same way in 2001 when Honda come out with the new 1800 all the old 1500 Riders picked them apart. They hated the new 1800 but in a couple years they were all riding them thinking it was the best thing that was ever built. I guess it's just human nature to be narrow-minded.😂😆😉 Keep up the good content and ride safe.
I’ve owned Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, and Harley in various categories from sport, dirt, super Moto, cruiser and adventure. I guess I have been lucky because I’ve never had mechanical problems with any of them. I’ve enjoyed them all. I never understood why people limit themselves to one brand or category of motorcycles. I hope I have the opportunity to try other brands in the future.
Great video! Being a 2018 Gold Wing non tour, 6-speed owner, I can say that a lot of the "hater" gripes can be resolved with aftermarket solutions. I've rarely come across any biker that hasnt done at least one mod on their bike. If this was presented as how the bike is stocked from the factory, then there is something to complain about any bike. Especially HD. Frankly, the only bike i would put up against the Gold Wing is the BMW K1600. And even that bike has disadvantages off the factory floor. That said, my gripes about the Gold Wing are as follows... 1. AIR FILTER replacement. 2. How hot it gets inside the side bags and how there are bumps inside the storage compartments that hinder placement of the bags, should you pack them up good. 3 Bluetooth pairing to a headset can get a little annoying when you wanna use carplay or android auto. 4. The navigation is archaic compared to Google maps or Waze. 5. Lastly, if your fob dies, the emergency turn-on procedure leaves me wanting to abandon the bike and walk. These are things Honda should work on to make the great bike even better. Just my 2 cents!
If You've had the previous Gen 5 with the 5 speed are the gears on your 2018 6 speed closer together and shifting more often?. It gets annoying.. Although I think 6th is taller running 500 rpms lower on the freeway than Gen 5
Can't satisfy everyone. This Goldwing is so much leaner, lighter and better balanced than previous generations, I would buy one if I could. And for those who like to shift? I've been shifting everything I've ridden or driven for over 45 years and 2.5 million miles. I'd gladly get the DCT. Let the computer do the shifting.
A 199 dollars for a belly plate seems like a very low cost for an upgrade because the Harley riders start theirs with about 5K with upgrades. If the Wing rider spends 5K its because he added a trailer. On my 3rd Wing and nothing else will do for me. 43 states and counting. Be safe and have fun.
Moved over from Harley Road Glide, tried the BMW K1600B wasn't enough leg room for me so didn't work for me. Love my GW DCT bagger...... No regrets so far. What bags have you got in the panniers.....
I absolutely love my Goldwing not only is it fun to ride but it’s also become fun go work on…I got the shad bag for storage but I’m a minimalist when it comes to the bike anyway… just take what u need and enjoy the ride…and to me it’s a beautiful bike..
I have an all black 2023 Goldwing Touring model, and I love it. I get comments all the time on how good it looks. I've had it 8 months and put almost 12,000 miles on it. I'll never get another bike.
People who “hate” what others choose to ride are in reality just insecure about their own choice. They can’t come to terms with the fact someone else’s bike may actually be better. Who cares, ride what you like and leave others to do the same. Great video.
Haven't watched you before, just saw the title and I clicked on this video expecting to hate it, and you! However, it's probably the most honest and objective review of a love/hate bike I've seen! I haven't ridden a Goldwing and don't want one but for a start, you can't argue with the quality of construction because that's what Honda lead the bike world in. So they're not going to do a bad job on one of their flagship bikes and the standard of engineering is much admired. Ugly? As you rightly say, that is entirely subjective in the eye of the beholder. I do like Harleys but I mean look at Harley big-wheel baggers! what are they, some kind of joke? ( but someone must like them, so that's fine by me ). Here in the UK, if a bike isn't usable in twisty roads, it's really not much use and Goldies seem to manage just fine. For long-distance they must be a dream! If you don't like that style of bike ( I don't ) get something else and let others get what they want.
I currently ride a Rebell 1100 DCT and thinking of moving up to a Goldwing bagger DCT. I am sure the Goldwing is great on the highway, but curious how do it handles in city traffic?
handles tremendous .... go check out all my videos of me riding it in many different conditions. thing is a champ. super balanced and easy to handle anywhere. zero issues
@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA thanks for quick reply! I asked because I am in my 72nd year and was a bit worried about the weight being an 800 lb bike versus the 500 lb Rebel 1100 DCT. Tomorrow I am going to ride to my dealer and see what I might get for a trade in on my Rebel and see if they have a demo goldwing I can ride.
A couple years ago, I was looking at the Goldwing for my new bike. I decided to get my Road Glide Limited. Now, I am looking at possibly switching to a Goldwing, for multiple reasons. They are great bikes. 👍
I have a Harley Ultra Classic Limited and it's like riding an icebox with handlebars and powered by a lawnmower motor, , I wish I'd bought the Goldwing like this one. Wing is more balanced feeling lighter and much better handling, more power, rides much much better, better reliability, parts and add ons cheaper which Honda puts most all you need on their bike while Harley you have to add a lot, and the HD engine heat comes right up on you making it miserable in warm weather. I wldnt even think about a HD over a Goldwing.
There is no question in my mind that they are technically and mechanically the finest motorcycle on the road for touring. For me, while the aforementioned is my truth, I ride my Road Glide because of the character and nostalgia and history of the motorcycle. It is a je ne sais quoi situation that is indescribable. It is really not a best/worst situation it is simply what you want out of your motorcycle. Perfectly reliable, smooth, technologically perfect, etc. Honda wins. Spirit, emotion, connection, feeling on the open road, gotta give it to my Road Glide. Anyway, don't hate the Honda, just love the Harley Davidson more! Cheers
As the owner of a 2019 Goldwing, a 2020 Vstrom an 09 Heritage and a 2020 Kawasaki Ninja I would say the GW is the best all around bike and especially for eating up the miles
I have a 2017 Harley Davidson Road Glide Ultra. I’ve owned several Harley Davidson’s and this is my favorite so far. I say, just ride your ride, get the bike that you love and enjoy the ride! I must say, I have never ridden a Goldwing. I know Harley Davidson comes out with a lot of retro model bikes, it would be nice if Honda would do that to the Goldwing, say the first generation look. That would be a cool bike! Thank you for the video! Be safe out there.
How did you like the Volcan. I love the wing but mine hurts my back .I'm 75 and have 3 fusing in my back and can't set in a sports position. And Harley has to many problems. Thanks good job
I love my 2017 GL1800. I bought mine on purpose. The only thing I’d change on my 2017 is an electric windshield and apple AirPlay. The two things that stoped me from the new body style was the storage and the damage I’ve seen from dropping at a stand still or under 5mph. The only downside to my 2017 is I had no idea as to the cost of maintenance. If you do the scheduled maintenance when it is due, can range from $100 to $1k. An oil change and new tires can be around $800. But, the range comfort and the nimbleness of the bike out weighs the cost of maintaining it. I have heard that mechanics don’t like working on them because of the time it requires. I love my 2017 GL 1800. I put about 10k miles a year on mine give or take.
I got to ride a 2018 DCT Tour for 4 hours as a loaner, I loved it. Was impressed with the ride and handling, and could see myself going coast to coast on it
I just bought one of these and looking to buy a saddlemen seat. Would you recommend one with or without the backrest? Looks like it would be comfortable either way.
Goldwing is built to explore the moon and back and you will want to do it again, as soon as you are back. I never knew that, till I owned my first one ever, in 2020 and till now. I have owned it all, but this baby and DCT is a magical machine. No other bike company, as of now, will change my mind. yes, its not perfect, but yes, to own one. Honda's engineers nailed it so well with the DCT and the goodies on the 6 gen wing.
It is a fine motorcycle indeed. The historian was right and the ride, comfort and performance are there. I had a 2009 gl1800 so i am one of those guys in the middle. For me it just didn't work out. There are lot of other bikes and brands that work better for what i need. I dont hate on any bike or brand and for the most part reliability is good across the board. Just so you know I'm a believer in one bike won't do it all and i have 3. I have a cruiser/tourer, sport bike and a dual sport. If all i was going to do was go on long distance trips the goldwing bagger would be at the top of the list.
I have the 2013 F6B 54,000 miles now. I traded my 2007 goldwing for this when it came to my dealer February 2013. I always liked the look of the road glide . Not the maintenance or the lack of performance with short comings on handling. I have two brothers and a cousin plus two uncles that ride Harleys. Ever time we go on road trips I have to work on one of their bikes. I never have to work on mine on any of our trips. FYI my cousin has the stage three performance kit on his harley and it can't bet me in a drag race or top speed even when mine was stock. And after I tuned it up it never even keeps close . Harleys are OK just not for me .
Excellent video! Good job debunking the critics. As for me, several years ago, as an inexperienced rider on a road trip, with experienced very Indian motorcycle riders, I made a stupid comment about the Honda Goldwing, and boy did the chew me up , and gave me an education about the Goldwing 😁. Since then I looked up the Goldwing and I'm sold on it. I ride a Suzuki Boulevard M109r that I absolutely love, but the Honda Godlwing dct will be for and my wifey in the near future.
I currently own the Honda Rebel 1100 DCT and for me and I am totally addicted to my bike,at least that’s what I thought! The Honda Goldwing DCT is definitely pulling on my heart strings for sure, and I’m going to test ride one this weekend! From everything I’ve heard and seen about the Goldwing, it’s like a limousine on two wheels. Also, it’s a Honda which means reliability and low maintenance, unlike some of the other “big bike” manufacturers. Hater’s will hate. I get that with my Rebel 1100, which happens to be a 1084cc beast in sport mode, but I don’t care about what they say! Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Enjoy your ride! Stay safe. 👏👍
My first and current motorcycle is a 2009 Honda Shadow Aero. I bought it last December with 23k miles and it currently has a little over 31k. I have learned many things over the past year. For long distance, a quiet bike is a must. The Gold Wing's smooth flat 6 engine is also very attractive. Engine vibrations get annoying after riding for hours upon hours. An adjustable windscreen would be amazing! I have come to realize that mid controls are the best for me. I can stand up that way when going over big bumps. I personally think the Gold Wing looks like a some sort of star cruiser battleship thing. It looks awesome in my opinion! The forward crawl function would be great for loading the bike on a trailer too. You wouldn't even have to sit on it. The fact that it can burn 87 octane fuel is a HUGE benefit. There's so many nice things about a Gold Wing!
I have a kawasaki voyager and I am enjoying the comfort and handling. You have switched to Gw what are the benefits and which would you choose today the voyager or GW
love em both i didn't switch bc i didn't like voyager, loved the voyager. just wanted to try something diff after 3 years and the GW opportunity came up the wing has way more power, and tech but the voyager was enough power for sure i wouldn't choose bc i've had both and both have their offerings for sure voyager bang for buck can't be beat! GW is tremendous. really like them both for what they offer comes down to expectations and what YOU seek from a ride
Bro you may have changed my mind🤦♂️ I’ve been laser focused on getting a 2020 Yamaha Star Venture because I’m a Yamaha guy, plus I absolutely love the styling. Given all the undeniable facts that you were spitting out on these 2 videos, I’m starting to think that I would be crazy to not go with the Goldwing. Appreciate the vids bro.
star venture is an excellent bike and value too! see if you can rent a wing for a day on moto rental web site see what you think ! it's an awesome machine thanks for the kind words
@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA Great advice! Thats probably what I will do, if I am unable to find a dealer that will let me test ride. I’ll let ya know what I end up with. Maybe I’ll see you on the road sometime, looks like you live pretty close to me from the looks of where you ride. Appreciate the follow up.
I agree with the idea that Apple Car Play is one of things that can distract a rider and cause a major accident. Beware. I also am a believer in DCT. I have owned four DCT bikes and rented two others. Sublime invention.
Touring pro-tip I learned from a friend - I bring old t-shirts, underwear, socks and jeans… old items that were destined for the trash. I take them On long rides and toss them along the way. My bike gets lighter and I have more room than when I started the trip. Also, buy a dry bag and bungee it to the seat.
I had a goldwing long ago and will buy another one soon. The Goldwing is the most reliable bike ever. The ones who hate it don't understand you can make of it what you want. (I did it by making a chopper of it, years ago). Motorwise, it will never let you down and give you the most mileage ever, that a bike can give you.
My last bike was a 2005 Honda VTX 1800n. That machine was awesome and simply worked flawlessly. Sold it a couple of years ago and after a hip replacement and recovery plan on another bike for the 2025 season. Looked at the BMW R18 and the Kawasaki Vaquero. Yesterday I stopped in at my local Honda Dealer (Toys For Big Boys in Moncton New Brunswick, Canada). The 2024 Base Goldwing is a beautiful machine and unless something else appears that strikes me as this bike has I'll be ordering one in the fall. Can't beat Honda as their stuff just works well and lasts. Lastly, bikes are very personal and whatever you like, ride and enjoy!
I had a Honda "Chicken Wing" (just the faring) back in 1986... in BOSTON... RODE IT YEAR ROUND... Bike was awesome! EVEN IN THE SNOW... BIKE WAS AWESOME
I had a DCT wish I would have kept it learned how to really ride it. I had a Victory CCT that I put 107000 miles on it. Great bike, just got to dam old to ride it. Balance issues. It's not a good thing. So I bought a Mustang Mach 1, the need for speed. I got too old too quick in my opinion. Love your video.
I thought the buttons were back lite. Maybe thats the full goldwing version. Nice seat, thats not standard is it? The saddle bag you showed where nothing falls out when you opened it, try that on the other side
saddleman road sofa seat. not standard the reason stuff doesn't fall out of my saddlebags on either side is i have the zipper bag insets so all cargo stays put. wout the bags, of course the cargo will fall due to the bag mechanical design.
Great video! I currently ride a 2020 HD Lowrider. I like it and enjoy it, but I'm getting old. I have never had a bagger. In a year or so, I plan to buy one, and it will be a Goldwing. I have looked at all the other baggers, especially Harley Davidson, but there are some things I don't like about HD (I won't mention them here). Needless to say, I am looking for reliability. When it come to what I spend on a bike, I want to get the most bang for my buck.
What a nice looking bike man. That seat sets it off. I currently ride an FZ-10 but I have my eye on one of these as my second street bike. I will be pulling the trigger any day if I can't wait for an end of season deal. Just wanted to let you know I think your bike looks great. I can't wait to have my own. It will be the '24 standard DCT in armor green as that's all they offer in the standard. Happy riding!
11:13 I ride a 1997 Honda Valkyrie that I bought brand new 26 years ago, and the dealer I bought it from will NOT perform mechanical work on it as it is older than 10 years!! You MIGHT get them to put new tires on it for you, but that is it! Seems pretty bogus to me, but thankfully I have a truly awesome mechanic named Bere Shutes of B.M.F. V-Twin in my hometown of Brownsburg, Indiana, who works on my built '72 hard tail framed '92 EVO chopper, which I've had since 2005 (titled as a 2000 ASM), AND my '97 Valkyrie!! That guy is a freakin' genius, and I love him, man!!
Before watching the video: maybe cause we they can’t get it??🤣🤣 After watching the video: I haven’t seen anyone looking at their bike WHILE they’re riding so looks are subjective to me. It’s a bike for a very long ownership in my opinion. It’s almost soundless… I would buy that bike easy if I was in the market for a bike if that style. People can tour on bicycles scooters donkeys you name it. But most important to me is the Honda reliability and that’s the bottom line. Great bike let the haters hate cause they’re simply do their job hating🤣🤣🤣 Like my GSA is an Adventure Tourer not a dirt bike…🤣 Great video brother
Im a new rider (was a present to my 40 birthday) and ride a Honda CB naked with added racks for my touring. I saw this new goldwing on the Street and instantly fell in love. Thanks for this good video, do you think a new rider can handle it? Greetings from germany.
Thx for your reply. Starting this year, above 3000 km/ 1900 miles. Mostly countryside roads. I will have to save some money, to pay a goldwing (i think 1-2 years), so have some time to grow my skills. First i was looking into NC750x next year (because of dct and package), but when i recognize the "new modern style" goldwing, i start to watch every video i can find ;) (@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA
I just got into your videos. Thanks for them. Very helpful. I have a KLR650 and my wife and I are looking at a Goldwing to do some touring together. I will still keep the KLR as my daily commuter but from what i saw, the Goldwing is a really nice package. My aging back is liking the idea of having walking forward and reverse as well.
I was going back and forth between GW and an ADV bike. Ended up with the adv style but I still want a DCT goldwing. The Africa twin dct was too tall for me.
My 2 biggest grips are the tiny driver floorboards that are available. Barely beyond pegs and Pegs and I don't get along. Second is the low speed U-turn take a bit of getting used to. Side bags: Will they fit a gallon of milk? THAT is what will decide if I get the bagger or the tour.
The rattle is most likely from the air deflector above the display when it's up. I never use it except it makes a great sunglass holder when parked. It is very noisy when riding.
I have a 2023 DCT non-tour, just like the bike you are riding in this video. I love it, but I agree that some of the criticisms are legitimate. 1) The looks. When I first saw it, i did not like the looks of the Gold Wing from the front. I do love how it looks from the side. From the side it has the profile of a shark or killer whale. I've had my GW for 5 months and I've grown to appreciate how it looks from the front. The front view doesn't bother me any more (plus I don't see it when I am riding. :-) ) 2) The side bags. This is probably my biggest complaint. Yes, when you open the bag, what ever is inside falls out. When I bought my bike, there was an option for the internal luggage bag, but I didn't realize that I would need it. I will be buying them in the future. 3) The GPS. I find the GPS to be adequate. However, my one complaint is there is no way to instantly mark your current position as a favorite. My 2012 VW Passat has this feature in its GPS. In 2023, Honda can't do the same? (note: the Honda dealer showed me a convoluted way to mark your current position as a favorite, but it takes several minutes to accomplish. In my car, it can be done with the push of a button. Easy Peasy). 4) Lack of Floor Boards. I totally agree with this. I got the "bigger pegs" option when I bought my bike, but they still aren't floor boards. At the end of a long day of riding, my heels are a little numb because they rest on the pegs. I'll add one more complaint - the one size fits all design. I'm 6'5" tall and I have a buddy who is the same height who bought an HD Road Glide. HD has a "tall boy" seat option which allows the rider to sit a little further back compared to the standard seat option. I wish Honda had something similar. As to the center compartment being unlockable, I agree with you. I'm glad it can't be locked. If i want something locked, I will put in in the side bags. All in all, my complaints are minor. Here is what I love about my GW. It is smooth: It is fast. It handles like a dream. When I ride, I travel between 150 to 200 miles. My previous bike was a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard. I remember how my body felt at the end of one of those rides. I was very stiff and sore. Not so on my GW. This past Wednesday, I rode 280 miles. At the end, my butt was a little sore and my heels were a little sore, but otherwise i was fine, and with about an hours worth of rest, I would have been ready to ride some more. To everyone reading these comments, ride what you want to ride. Because no matter what you are riding, the wind in our hair is all the same. To those out there who are GW curious, if you think you might like a Gold Wing, I'll bet you will love a Gold Wing.
GW is always on my 'before i die' wishlist. After owning a XADV750 2021, i found the DCT is awesome! Your bagger version is super sexy! I love it! ❤❤❤❤
I LIKE your STYLE with your "Old Grumpy Man" voice. Funny thing is I know a old guy who sounds exactly like that. I own 3 bikes now and I am considering this as a 4th.
I traded my k1600 for the Gw/B. DCT. I do miss the k but won't go back, as low center of gravity on the GW makes it much easier to manage. Oh...... and I just traded my Kawasaki Ninja 1000sx for the BMW R 1250 RT. Great video cheers! I've just subscribed 👍
I think sport/touring vs touring is mostly lean angle. Most shops in my area won't work on any bike 10 years old or older. I really like the non-touring version of the wing but I'm not ready for one yet..... If I had one, it would never leave sport mode, lol. I'm sure it's more comfortable than my FJR. Good video.
Trust me... Sport Mode IS amazing,... It's a BEAST!! But you might not want it in Sport Mode while doing slow speed maneuvering. Like I said, It's a Beast... Super Aggressive!!! I love it!!! lol
i've been out of motorcycling for awhile. if i were getting back in i would seriously consider buying one of the 1500 wings. they're readily available, pretty cheap, and appear to be fairly user friendly to work on. i'm also seeing that 20-30 year old electra glides can be had for under $5k. it's much easier to find a harley mechanic if you're out on the road and something breaks. maybe, the honda doesn't break so you don't have that problem. finding harley parts shouldn't be a problem either. so, it's a toss up. i don't buy new bikes/ too expensive for my budget.
I’ve had a ‘77 GW with a Vetter fairing and now a 2015 40th Anniversary Edition. Great scoot. Very nimble for a 980 pound bike. Bulletproof engineering, 225 mi/tank. The only bad thing I know of is tires. It goes right through them.
Thanks for the objective look at the new generation Goldwing. I am a 30 year Goldwing rider, and I try to be very objective, when looking at all other bikes, I have great admiration for them and try not to join the hate crowd. Bottom line is as you said, no bike can have everything, but my 2018 tour provides every type of riding I want and is an awesome machine full stop.
Just thought of something else. For those comments who say the Goldwing is a sport bike, THANK YOU!! That's a compliment. It tells me the bike handles better than other touring bikes, and it does. Many other reviewers have noted how the Goldwing handles more like a sport bike and how they were surprised by the overall ride and handling. So keep on insulting the Goldwing.
Great Vid... I bought the DCT and really wish I hadnt. I've had 3 minor accidents so far due to no clutch. I have multiple bikes and REALLY wished they had done a DCT with a Clutch... I just want to pull in the clutch at a red light or when I stop. But it has been one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. I've been from Georgia to Vermont and back.
Why would having no clutch cause an accident? I’ve had my DCT for all most a year and yes, it’s an adjustment to stop reaching for the clutch when you’re coming to a stop, but I don’t understand why it would cause an accident.
On the '18 and newer models, the stock seat sux. I had my seat redone by Russell Day Long, made a WORLD of difference. I also installed a rider's back rest, Gold Strike grips, and Highway pegs. It literally needs nothing else. The complaints about its looks are hideous. The new Wings are far prettier than any of the other touring machines. All of the V-Twins to me look like they were designed in the 1950s, with the exception of the Yamaha Venture. The Indians and Harleys look ancient compared to the Wing. Some may like that look, but I prefer the more modern look of the GW. The complaints about less storage space is valid, but I only travel by myself, so it has plenty of storage space for me. If my wife was going, we'd have to get a tote, or a trailer. The DCT, and all the rest of its amenities easily make it the best touring machine there is...
What I find odd is that here in California I rarely see Goldwings. I ride a lot and it's been at least a few years since I've seen one. Is this a Midwest/East Coast motorcycle?
I have a 03 bike and 07 trike both goldwings ,trike is a motortrike kit. My local dealer does everything on both. They won't work on 1500 and older because of availability of parts.
I have a vintage Wing, 1984. Runs like new. I also have a '01 Valkyrie Interstate. When I go to bike events, my bikes get much much more attention than most of the others, the Wing and the Valk are real attraction pieces. I love these bikes, they are rad as hell, smooth, reliable, handle like a roller coaster, and as you mention, can haul a trailer with ease. You just can't beat them. Anyone who hates a Wing is just mad that they spent 4x the money on a Road Glide, that's all it boils down to. Jealousy.
@@brucehelppie6119 Yeah what a pain. There are mods, but if you commit to replacing it it with a quality one you may never have to do so so again. Thankfully the guy I got mine from already did that for me.
@@tjclarke4604 I think the 1200s look pretty cool/ better than the 1500s. Shadetree Surgeon on RUclips has videos on both and the 1500s look a lot easier to work on. The performance appears to be way better also. I had a 1977 Electra Glide. I loved that bike, but it was slow and broke down a lot. I don’t mind wrenching, but I want to ride and not spend all my time fixing something.
From a guy that has owned 5 Harley’s and rode them for 23 years I agree with you. Recently I purchased a Concours 14 due to me personally having always having liked the styling. Now the reason I made the purchase is my Harley dealer ripped me off for the last time. I’m moving away from the motor company. I don’t recognize who they are anymore. My Kawasaki is nothing as polished as the Goldwing but my point being is get off your Harley and ride one of these Japanese bikes. For me it’s unbelievable what I’ve been missing all these years. I’ve owned an early 1200 Goldwing which didn’t impress me but if I purchase another bike I feel it will be the latest generation of Goldwing. (no trunk please). The smaller footprint and styling is what I’m attracted to but reverse and automatic transmission just seems like the ticket for care free touring. It is interesting that the bike which some people say is better is the BMW. Obviously we’re talking about the best 2 touring bikes made today regardless of which bike you ride. I don’t get compliments on my Concours and have become a “invisible rider” now but that’s a trade off I can live with. Good videos you put together and yes on the Saddlemen Road sofa. Absolutely the best seat I’ve ever owned or ridden on.
You weren't mean to ANONYMOUS BIKER USA in the other video, were you 🤬?? Bob🤔 ... then again, we all get a hair across our asses once in a while... I was kind of mean to HDR in his last video.
Personally I wish Honda still produced the GL1200. I just love the machine. Love the looks pulls trailer like it wasn't there.. don't know why anyone would want more...
The only thing I hate about the Goldwing is that I can't afford one.
😅😂🤣
That really is the worst thing about a 2018+ Goldwing. But it'll be the last bike you'll want to buy. I love mine.
Same goes here 😂😂😂
True!
32000€ 😢
When I am going on a trip or longer rides ,especially in a lot of stop and go traffic I am going to be on my DCT.
we ride around the same areas 👍🏼 awesome feedback! thanks !
Well said.
Honda Owners - Love the reliability / Harley Owners - Look how much I spent on my bike since I bough it / BMW Owners - Love the handling and the Quality. Who cares what people think. Ride it, enjoy it and then get another brand or model in a few years.
Couldn't agree more!
Your bike ride it and enjoy it, whatever you buy or love like ride it and put mile miles on it
Harley riders only desire is to be continually melt by Harley-Davidson and those writers have more trouble with their motorcycles than any other motorcycle manufacturer in existence So it's better not to even read their comments they only know one thing those lumps upside their head they keep getting from Harley-Davidson LOL ! ! ! 🗨️😅💦
This made me laugh as an ex Harley owner. You are quite right but I’d have fought you years ago over that comment 😅
Honda Goldwings are not cheap.
I’ve owned 5 Harleys, a 97 Valkyrie, 2010 R1200GS and a 2018 Goldwing. I absolutely love the wing. It’s the finest, fastest, most comfortable and most bad ass bike I’ve ever had. Although, I wish Honda would have branded it an F6B because I hate admitting that I ride a Goldwing now.
lol fair enough !
I went to a motorcycle meeting and a 70 some year old man said I had to get rid of my Gold Wing because everyone kept accusing me of wearing a skirt.
@@farmon2000 That's when you correct him and yell in a Scottish accent "IT'S A KILT!" ;)
I ride a Harley but if you are concerned about what others say about your ride go back to a cage
Re-badge your 2018 with F6B badges.
Dude- not everyone hates the wing! Some of us actually like the Honda goldwing very much ! And I mean VERY VERY Much ! 😜
sandy my man! always a bright spot 🥸
I love it.
some great worthy comparisons there !
Great video.
awesome feedback!
I heard Honda wasnt Making them anymore after '25. I hope I'm totally wrong😢
Great review, and what a great-looking Goldwing you have. There are always those who hate no matter what. I am an industrial designer and I believe Goldwing is so cool that I purchased one last year. This is the greatest touring bike I ever rode and I ride many bikes. So don't pay any attention to haters and just keep on riding your fabulous Goldwing.
thank you 🙏🏽
In Manual mode (which I never use) the upshift is done with the plus paddle and the downshift is also done with the minus paddle.
I guess it's just human nature to be narrow-minded.😂😆😉
Keep up the good content and ride safe.
lol now that's funny!!!! sooooo true! i ride em all too! thank you for your time !
2 and 5 i agree completely!!! all other points considered!! thank you 🙏🏽
I have the same bike and I would agree. To me, it's like a comfortable large sport bike.
If You've had the previous Gen 5 with the 5 speed are the gears on your 2018 6 speed closer together and shifting more often?. It gets annoying.. Although I think 6th is taller running 500 rpms lower on the freeway than Gen 5
I have a Goldwing 1800 DCT bagger. Love the comfort, handling, weight, agility, and milage. Would have liked .50 bigger fuel tank. GREAT BIKE!
I’m HD lover! but I’m going to get a Goldwing 😎 2023 or 2024 will be in my garage pretty soon 🙌🏻
you'll love it !
I don't care what other people say. I like this Goldwing. Beautiful motorcycle.
Right on!
My second Goldwing 2021 the first was 2005 . I think it’s best bike out there hands down.
I went from a Kawasaki zx14r to a GW bagger. I took one look at this bike and knew I had to have it, very happy with my purchase. Beautiful bike!
Thanks for sharing
Can't satisfy everyone. This Goldwing is so much leaner, lighter and better balanced than previous generations, I would buy one if I could.
And for those who like to shift? I've been shifting everything I've ridden or driven for over 45 years and 2.5 million miles. I'd gladly get the DCT. Let the computer do the shifting.
well said!
A 199 dollars for a belly plate seems like a very low cost for an upgrade because the Harley riders start theirs with about 5K with upgrades. If the Wing rider spends 5K its because he added a trailer. On my 3rd Wing and nothing else will do for me. 43 states and counting. Be safe and have fun.
awesome!
The only thing I hate about that motorcycle IS NOT HAVING THE MONEY TO BUY IT.
How could anyone hate a motorcycle?
Why do they hate? One word, Jealousy.
Moved over from Harley Road Glide, tried the BMW K1600B wasn't enough leg room for me so didn't work for me. Love my GW DCT bagger...... No regrets so far.
What bags have you got in the panniers.....
awesome! the bags came from Kuryaken fit perfect
I absolutely love my Goldwing not only is it fun to ride but it’s also become fun go work on…I got the shad bag for storage but I’m a minimalist when it comes to the bike anyway… just take what u need and enjoy the ride…and to me it’s a beautiful bike..
Totally agree!
I have an all black 2023 Goldwing Touring model, and I love it. I get comments all the time on how good it looks. I've had it 8 months and put almost 12,000 miles on it. I'll never get another bike.
Some folk are just jealous because they can't afford one...the Wing is the Rolls Royce of motorcycles.
People who “hate” what others choose to ride are in reality just insecure about their own choice. They can’t come to terms with the fact someone else’s bike may actually be better. Who cares, ride what you like and leave others to do the same. Great video.
thanks 🙏🏽!
Riding for 55 years owned over 24 bikes logged over 350.00 miles nothing compares to a wing period !
now that's an endorsement!
If you don't like that style of bike ( I don't ) get something else and let others get what they want.
awesome reply!!! thank you for your time!
Another great video mate. Haters are going to hate, not much you can do with that. keep up the good work and ride safe man 😎👍
thanks Bert !
Right on!
GW buyers buy it with their brains. HD buyers buy it with their hearts.
not a bad statement !
There will always be room in the stable for The Wing......its a guilty pleasure I will always want. All I need is more room and some extra bucks.
the only l hate is that it sets to high wish honda would drop it down a bit,, inch and a half would increase their sales alot
Cheers
all fair points for sure !
If Harley was only as dependable, not by a long shot..
You clearly don't know what you are talking about. @@MrBburdick
I love my 2023 goldwing
As the owner of a 2019 Goldwing, a 2020 Vstrom an 09 Heritage and a 2020 Kawasaki Ninja I would say the GW is the best all around bike and especially for eating up the miles
nice stable of rides!
Thanks good job
voyager was excellent! great value for the money !
The new body style goldwing without the passenger chair rest in that destroyer grey color is badass especially with the cobra 6 tailpipe exhaust
yes sir !
Spot, Fkin, On
I was shocked how BADASS that thing looks
Was impressed with the ride and handling, and could see myself going coast to coast on it
yes indeed!
Still one of my favorite bikes I ever tested. I am always open to the idea of adding one to my garage
You should!
DUDE!, I think your bike rocks. Who the heck cares as long as you're happy? Ride on my friend, I enjoy what you bring to us. ..... Bob
I appreciate that! thanks !
I just bought one of these and looking to buy a saddlemen seat. Would you recommend one with or without the backrest? Looks like it would be comfortable either way.
can only speak on my own experience without backrests and i love it !!! the seat is phenomenal
Thanks for responding.
@@JamesBuss-n7x sure thing 👍🏼
Love this bike! Could you use it as a daily rider ? Daily commute?
without a doubt you could! handles like a champ on all platforms!
Harleys are OK just not for me .
well said !
M109r is a fun one for sure !!!!
LOOKS SUPER AWESOME ! COMFORTABLE CRUISER ! SERVE EVERY COMFORT AS YOU NEED : MUSIC , ELECTRIC WINDSHIELD, DRIVING GREAT !!!
Stay safe. 👏👍
This bike is my dream bike. Honda Gold wing. I'm riding a Honda PCX 150 now.. 4yrs & 82k km mileage
There's so many nice things about a Gold Wing!
facts !
I have a kawasaki voyager and I am enjoying the comfort and handling. You have switched to Gw what are the benefits and which would you choose today the voyager or GW
love em both i didn't switch bc i didn't like voyager, loved the voyager. just wanted to try something diff after 3 years and the GW opportunity came up
the wing has way more power, and tech but the voyager was enough power for sure
i wouldn't choose bc i've had both and both have their offerings for sure
voyager bang for buck can't be beat!

Also, buy a dry bag and bungee it to the seat.
great tips !
I had a goldwing long ago and will buy another one soon. The Goldwing is the most reliable bike ever. The ones who hate it don't understand you can make of it what you want. (I did it by making a chopper of it, years ago). Motorwise, it will never let you down and give you the most mileage ever, that a bike can give you.
amen 🙏🏽
Very cool!
Love your video.
thank you very much! keep your foot on the gas! 😎
After taking a 18 year break from running. Got myself a Rebel 1100. Love the motorcycle, my next bike will be a Gold-wing!
Good choice!
I thought the buttons were back lite. Maybe thats the full goldwing version. Nice seat, thats not standard is it?
The saddle bag you showed where nothing falls out when you opened it, try that on the other side
saddleman road sofa seat. not standard
the reason stuff doesn't fall out of my saddlebags on either side is i have the zipper bag insets so all cargo stays put. wout the bags, of course the cargo will fall due to the bag mechanical design.
The only thing I hate about the Goldwing is the PRICE !!!!!"
fair
What a nice looking bike man. That seat sets it off. I currently ride an FZ-10 but I have my eye on one of these as my second street bike. I will be pulling the trigger any day if I can't wait for an end of season deal. Just wanted to let you know I think your bike looks great. I can't wait to have my own. It will be the '24 standard DCT in armor green as that's all they offer in the standard. Happy riding!
thanks!!!!!
That guy is a freakin' genius, and I love him, man!!
this 10 year thing is ridiculous! glad you have someone!!
Before watching the video: maybe cause we they can’t get it??🤣🤣
After watching the video: I haven’t seen anyone looking at their bike WHILE they’re riding so looks are subjective to me.

Greetings from germany.
how new of a rider ?
Thx for your reply. Starting this year, above 3000 km/ 1900 miles. Mostly countryside roads. I will have to save some money, to pay a goldwing (i think 1-2 years), so have some time to grow my skills. First i was looking into NC750x next year (because of dct and package), but when i recognize the "new modern style" goldwing, i start to watch every video i can find ;) (@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA
Beautiful bike! Is that a stock windshield?
yes. stock.
It been the best bike from back in 1974
I just got into your videos. Thanks for them. Very helpful. I have a KLR650 and my wife and I are looking at a Goldwing to do some touring together. I will still keep the KLR as my daily commuter but from what i saw, the Goldwing is a really nice package. My aging back is liking the idea of having walking forward and reverse as well.
thanks for coming along! hope you find something to keep you tuned in! the wing is a spectacular machine !
Just ride what you like. When someone suggests your bike is not as good as "X" just smile, nod and then ride on.
yup 👍🏼
I have a 2023 DCT non-tour, just like the bike you are riding in this video. I love it, but I agree that some of the criticisms are legitimate.
1) The looks. When I first saw it, i did not like the looks of the Gold Wing from the front. I do love how it looks from the side. From the side it has the profile of a shark or killer whale. I've had my GW for 5 months and I've grown to appreciate how it looks from the front. The front view doesn't bother me any more (plus I don't see it when I am riding. :-) )
2) The side bags.
To those out there who are GW curious, if you think you might like a Gold Wing, I'll bet you will love a Gold Wing.
outstanding comment! thanks for your time!
GW is always on my 'before i die' wishlist.
After owning a XADV750 2021, i found the DCT is awesome!
Your bagger version is super sexy! I love it! ❤❤❤❤
thanks 🙏🏽
I LIKE your STYLE with your "Old Grumpy Man" voice. Funny thing is I know a old guy who sounds exactly like that. I own 3 bikes now and I am considering this as a 4th.
lol thanks !
I traded my k1600 for the Gw/B. DCT. I do miss the k but won't go back, as low center of gravity on the GW makes it much easier to manage. Oh......
and I just traded my Kawasaki Ninja 1000sx for the BMW R 1250 RT. Great video cheers!
I've just subscribed 👍
so overall which bike do you think is best ? wing or K? and you have the 1250RT! kinda perfect w the RT and wing! awesome !! thanks for subscribing 🙏🏽
Wing all day long!😁
I think sport/touring vs touring is mostly lean angle. Most shops in my area won't work on any bike 10 years old or older. I really like the non-touring version of the wing but I'm not ready for one yet..... If I had one, it would never leave sport mode, lol. I'm sure it's more comfortable than my FJR. Good video.
sport mode is amazing lol FJR is a boss too !
Trust me... Sport Mode IS amazing,... It's a BEAST!! But you might not want it in Sport Mode while doing slow speed maneuvering. Like I said, It's a Beast... Super Aggressive!!! I love it!!! lol

i've been out of motorcycling for awhile. if i were getting back in i would seriously consider buying one of the 1500 wings. they're readily available, pretty cheap, and appear to be fairly user friendly to work on. i'm also seeing that 20-30 year old electra glides can be had for under $5k. it's much easier to find a harley mechanic if you're out on the road and something breaks. maybe, the honda doesn't break so you don't have that problem. finding harley parts shouldn't be a problem either. so, it's a toss up. i don't buy new bikes/ too expensive for my budget.
buy a GW1500 SE
I used to have a Gold Wing in the late 90’s. I used it for side jobs as a motor escort, great bike!
I have an '18 like yours except in Stallion Brown. My one complaint,,, mounting things to the bars. I've figured it out though.
I have a 2023 Goldwing manual , I love it !! , also have road glide cvo and I tell you to my opinion Goldwing is the best touring bike hands down
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the objective look at the new generation Goldwing. I am a 30 year Goldwing rider, and I try to be very objective, when looking at all other bikes, I have great admiration for them and try not to join the hate crowd. Bottom line is as you said, no bike can have everything, but my 2018 tour provides every type of riding I want and is an awesome machine full stop.
well said!
Great point!
Can you elaborate on why you had the accidents? What did the dct have to do with it?
Why would having no clutch cause an accident? I’ve had my DCT for all most a year and yes, it’s an adjustment to stop reaching for the clutch when you’re coming to a stop, but I don’t understand why it would cause an accident.
@@madogblue His left hand was free so he was hitting the whiskey flask.
Is this a Midwest/East Coast motorcycle?
interesting! maybe so!
My 2023 does scything great. I love it. Mine doesn't rattle at all.
Jealousy.
We have an 84 as well 🥰🥰
i was interested in the 1200 wings until i found out what it takes to replace the stator.
Absolutely the best seat I’ve ever owned or ridden on.
great feedback! I love the concours! tremendous machine that does it all! thanks for sharing!
