Thanks you for your comments! I do my best to keep up with them for the first few days after a video comes out, but due to the volume of comments on all of my videos, and to the general hustle and bustle of life, I must give up the fight after a while. If you are leaving a question four or more days after a video comes out I can't guarantee I'll see it, but perhaps one of my other viewers knows the answer and can help out. Thanks in advance to those who contribute and share their knowledge. Cheers and stay safe everyone!

I sold my 2020 Harley Road Glide Limited for a 2022 GoldWing. I think it's the best bike I've ever owned. Earlier this year I road from Seattle to San Francisco in 13 hours, arrived relaxed with no aches or pains. Unbelievable. All I'll say is DON'T test ride one if you aren't prepared to buy it, coz you will want to after 🙂

      @TakoNekko Год назад +3

I'm really curious what pushed you to make that change? I'm on the fence with getting an HD or the GW and leaning more towards the GW. Thanks!

@@TakoNekko Good question, my wife asks me that every time I change a bike :-). I think like most folks I've spend my life looking for the perfect bike. After I did the test ride, I spent a long time thinking about it. I love Harley's, I love what they stand for, I love their history and the culture. But the GoldWing was just a better bike! (It's not perfect, just better.) I am fortunate in that I have a second bike that is a Harley, so I didn't walk away from the brand completely, but (for me) the GW was just a better touring motorcycle - that's the bottom line.

Appreciate your video. Well done. I have a 2022 blue Goldwing and traded in my BMW GTL for it. I am 70 years old and the Beemer felt top heavy to me. The Goldwing feels lighter and easier to control and seems perfect for me.

Yes, the BMW is lighter but it’s where the mass sits that counts.

i'm 33 and have been trying to make my ktm adv390 a comfortable touring bike but it's like trying to make a pig fly. i cant wait to buy a goldwing someday. i sat on one last summer and instantly knew this bike was a complete game changer. i can see myself getting one someday. the new styling is awesome, i wouldn't consider this an "old man" bike anymore, just someone who wants the ultimate touring bike.

Great video, as always! I primarily ride adv bikes (900 rally pro, 690 endro r), but when I get on my Wing (21 DCT tour) and head out on epic voyages, there is simply nothing better. Your entire mindset changes as you settle in and relax. So peaceful and NOT in a hurry. I upgraded the stereo so there is absolute clarity at hwy speeds. I still prefer camping / living off of the bike and as a solo rider, there is plenty of secure storage. I wish everyone, especially the skeptics, could try one of these; channel their "inner old man". That all being said, I definitely would not pick it for the "if you could only have one bike" category...maybe another video for you to contemplate. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, it’s great to have access to multiple bikes. For only one I’d go with my T7’s versatility. For two-up though, nothing beats the Wing.

I've been riding for 35yrs and decided to buy the 6 speed manual transmission touring model this spring. This is probably the most comfortable motorcycle I've ever driven. You mentioned in the review that you'll get 300km per tank however, if you ride in ECON mode you'll easily get 400km per tank so long as you're not cranking the throttle. It comes with a hefty price tag that should afford a few more options like a bigger windshield, digital dash, side lighting and ACC, but all in all it's the best motorcycle I've ever owned.
    Cheers.

We changed our beloved BMW K1600GTL Exclusive 2016 on Friday into new GW. Major differences after 1000 km: my wife (and myself) much more relaxed in highway speeds, easier to ride, GW has modern comfortable suspension - GW lacks of peak power, BMW is designed for driver. Conclusion - our hobby, long distance motorcycle traveling, GW is our choice.

The hesitant issue you found around the 5/6th gear is all eliminated with a DCT along with many additional maladies. If you find one to ride, please do.
I believe you mentioned the fuel and or range three times. Unfortunately you didn't actually finish any measurements?
I deal with MPG's but listed for you are KM. I enjoy my 2021 DCT and thank all the gods for allowing me to enjoy this bike. 90% of my riding is one up but with max gear as I ride several days to multiple weeks each time; thus I am on the loaded/heavy side.
Never have I rode less than a 440 KM capability in fuel flow calculations. I always start/finish at full and then calculate every trip. My best on two partial tanks was 92 KM per 3.8 liters. (I hope I did that correctly?) (57 MPG) Those were not interstate legs as I avoid those at all costs.
Honda engineers intentionally decreased the fuel for many reasons but did so knowing this all new engine would attain the same or better range and it does!
Due to the cc count being within one cc, everyone assumed it was the same engine, NOT. The new GW is also an all new design engine; smaller size, more fuel efficient, mounted more forward and you could go on.
I did enjoy your review, better than I could do on a bike and recording! Good Job, but you asked for input so I sent mine.
    Good Rides, PT

If those teeth are in running order I'll trade you for my 2019. I've got a blown motor with scoring on 2 cylinders as far as you can tell without tearing it down. It's been sitting at the shop for two weeks waiting for Honda to decide if this is covered by the warranty, and authorization to do the tear down. The replacement parts are sitting in Japan and may be available by mid October if I'm lucky. So it might be running by November I suppose. Might be different in Florida, but here in Canada November is not prime biking season.

Good video. One thing you have to remember the range on the 2018 + is just as good as the previous generation. My buddy has a 2008 Goldwing, and I have a 2018 . When we hit the gas station, he always puts in at least a gallon or more then I put in my bike .
I've seen on a good day about 300 miles on a tank full.
My bladder needs to be emptied before my tank needs filling .
So in my opinion the 5.5 gallon tank is more than adequate.
    Happy trails.

I just took my ‘21 Tour DCT on an Iron Butt Ride around Lake Superior. I’m hooked on their DCT, and I love how it growls quietly (sparing my ears). I added the amp to the sound system. Apple CarPlay is great on it.
My BMW rarely gets ridden nowadays. The Goldwing is just too much fun. And I like the road presence. I have a lot less people pulling out in front of me, because it’s so visible.

A 1985 Gl1200 Interstate and a 1997 GL1500 limited edition. I am planning on buying a new Goldwing DCT Automatic tour as soon as one is available. My plan is for 2 up touring in comfort. Love my Road King , but you need to know the limitations of each bike. 1 up I can go for days on the King. Not so with a back seat rider.

It was sad to see the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and related rallies close after 43 years. This was a great group of people but falling membership and the last few rallies were poorly run did the association in. And, to add fuel to the fire, the rumor is Honda will discontinue the Goldwing after 2025 due to EU-5 regulations or just produce a DCT version. Times are changing as the saying goes so this is the time to enjoy such an iconic bike, even at close to $30k USD.

I just got back from a 1200+ mile trip into Canada and I did it on my 2021 Goldwing Tour DCT. What a Dream Machine. I put on the Rivco Hiway pegs the day before I left and they worked well. I have 2 complaints with the bike. 1st complaint is fuel capacity with real world range of 225-240 in Tour Mode. The 2nd complaint is the electronics. The CarPlay requires a headset be active and although I use a Sena it’s battery died and the CarPlay went away and with that my navigation. I did not have the Canada maps on the Honda Nav so it was a bummer. My wish list for future models would be a cruise with radar and rear facing blind spot detection. I would also like to see a digital display. The entire time I was on this trip I had to try and see the small analog dial for KM.

As a GoldWing DCT Tour owner I was a little disappointed *looking at the fuel tank capacity on paper*. However this generation gets excellent fuel economy @ 52mpg or 22km/L and more than makes up for the smaller tank size. On a recent 10000km trip the bike routinely displayed 450 +/- kms range on full tank and the above mpg while moving. Regular gas I might add. Side note: Because you conflated specs in a few instances from the non tour and tour, DCT and Standard it was hard for me to understand what experiences you attributed to what model. But they are all lovely bikes and worth the cost. Cheers.

Nice review. I bought a 2021 DCT Bagger here in NJ in May '21. Now, it has 19K miles on it. By far, its the most precious bike I've owned. (From BSA Gold Star, a Triumph Thunderbird and Norton 650 and a few Hondas then an FJR). Oops, I'm showing my age... This is my ultimate motorcycle. It encompasses the characteristics of a sport tourer and a long-range miler, solo or two-up . I see you are in Canada. Years ago, Before getting transferred to the USA, I rode with my wife on a Honda 450 from my home in Montreal to Miami, and back. Ride safe.

The sad part is GWRRA disbanded after running nearly as long as the bike has been around.
I was initially interested because of the low advertised seat height but the seat was too wide for me to be comfortable at a stop. It never ceases to amaze me how well equipped the Honda and BMW are at prices lower than either the Harley or Indian equivalents

I purchased my first harley in 2019 (street glide ultra ltd) The bike sounded great but like all harleys they are a money pit. Pipes tuner, intake. Ride quality was horrible as was the handling. So more money would be required to correct these problems. I decided to sell the bike as all these add ons were to much money. Harley are the masters of just making there bikes good enough knowing riders will spend thousands of dollars to upgrade them.

I really enjoy Honda and the Goldwing (actually many brand offerings). I had a GW several years ago, and can sum it up in one word... Wow... At 5'9" it is a little too tall for me. The weight is extremely well balanced. Styling is always subjective, but I like it. Handling is spot on and exceeded all my expectations. Two things I wish could be changed... That fantastic motor restricts you foot position and comfort mounting of forward pegs, but it can be done. I would really like to see Harley either build a factory trike or purchase a quality trike company and put their spin on it. I would buy on very quickly.

It is a great bike. But I must admit that I am disappointed that cornering ABS, cornering traction control, cornering lights, adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection are not available on it. Many of the motorcycles it is competing against have available at least two of these. Some as standard equipment.
Technically, the 1500 Goldwing wasn't the first motorcycle with reverse. But for many reasons, it was the first that really mattered.
My late wife and I fantasized about having a touring motorcycle that either of us could comfortable riding with the other as passengers. (We were considering an old 1200 Goldwing that a family member had due to its size.) The 2018 sixth generation of the Goldwing may have fulfilled our fantasy. She passed away less than a year before this generation of the Goldwing was released. So, I was really hoping to see Brooke ride it. Preferably with you as passenger.
    Great video as always.
If passenger made motorcycle purchasing choices there would be a whole lot more Goldwings and other touring motorcycles sold.
Up until the 1990's motorcycle magazine included at least a paragraph about passenger comfort in ever motorcycle review article.

Thanks for the comment. I’m really sorry to hear about your wife. I joked that Brooke should ride the GW with me on the back but she’s not confident enough for a bike that size, especially if it’s not ours. We don’t want to get on Honda Canada’s bad side and I already dropped the Africa Twin. The GW is definitely the bike she most enjoyed as a passenger though.

Recently rode a 2020 Touring Goldwing and was tremendously disappointed, not sure what I was expecting based upon all of the LOVE heaped upon the bike. At highway speed 75 felt wind buffeting shaking my head left to right, raised and lowered the windscreen and nothing changed. The seating position for a person of my height 6’3” with a 33-34 inseam was not particularly comfortable either , the engine was nice and sounded great upon acceleration but gotta say wouldn’t spend $30K on the bike. The Harley Road Glide felt more comfortable but definitely more agricultural and had far fewer features for a higher price, waiting to ride a K1600GA in hopes that it will be better than the bikes I have tested so far. We will see, but the Goldwing must be better for Shorter riders, definitely not my cup of tea.

I don't know what all the worshiping of the new Gen 6 Goldwing is all about. I have a 2004 Goldwing with 111K miles on it and it is twice (TWICE) the bike my newer 2018 Goldwing 6 speed is. My 04 has more power, more acceleration, handles the curves much easier and better than the 2018. The 2018 you have to counter steer into tight curves. The 04 just falls into the curves all by itself. Sorry, to say, but the 04 is much quicker in any corner than the 18. The 04 is much more comfortable for long rides If I wanted a Harley I would ride my 03 Fat Boy. But if I want the noise and shake my 18 Goldwing does just fine. I do not like that.
I do love the adj. windshield, the gps, the 6 speed and gear indicator and the styling is FANTASTIC! I ride by myself so the luggage space is ok for me (and my wife is she goes. (we pack light and do not camp).
If I could have only one Goldwing it would be my 04 (or the Gen 5) over the new Gen 6. That is just one man's opinion.
That being said, I will always stand by my statement that the 04 out handles the 18 any day of the week. As stated above, the 2018 GW is too loud and is shakes too much.
Now here is the reason I keep the 2018 Goldwing. "As a Goldwing the 2018 is Gen 6 is not a great bike. BUT as a 2018 "ST1800" it is a fantastic bike. AND that is what my license plate is "ST1800"

Anyone who waxes on about the new Goldwing cries about the storage space. I just don't get it. Old people complaints I guess, people who should be in a convertible or SUV with plenty of storage space.
Compared to just about every other standard/sporty motorcycle, the Goldwing has tons of storage. On the other hand, I can see how a 5.5 gallon tank isn't exactly a touring-range for a 1800cc+ engine. Suzuki has a 1L naked bike with 5.0 gallon tank now.
