In my latest sci round i forgot plasma was flammable and tried welding in a room full of it. Killed 5 scientists. 5 minutes later an artifact i was feeding plasma caused a fire and bombed myself. I got resurrected 3 times that round (tesla and dragon happened soon after)
I remember one round I played on SS13 Fulp. I'd just started trying to learn how to play Engi when the director got kidnapped by a Syndi op, who demanded a bomb. I, seeing he was unarmed and stupid beat him with death with a crowbar and proceeded to fuck with the chef for the rest of the round.
7:30 Funfact: the sound for the announcement that tells you that you are playing Traitor is "Whiskey Echo Whiskey - Lima Alpha Delta" military alphabet for WEW LAD, an old 4chan meme used in shitposts, which is effectivell what your job as traitor at the station is.
Awesome video, just hope that the community jumps you for creating another tide (seth is its whole ordeal anyways). The animations were great, they looked really well.
Ok so I just watched your video, and as someone who has played ss13 for a few sleepless nights: This video was Accurate 😂 I love the Med/Science roles, as many servers had some unique differences. My favourite was Aliens IP server, I would play this disgruntled Medic (not doctor) who would perform awake surgeries on people, using a special medicine blend that let me operate in ORs, and by golly I could turn a Code Black into a Code Green!!! (Revive a dead person), and to top it all off I would grab my patients and throw them out of the OR to setup for my next patient.
A recommendations to newcomers! Welcome! Most stations have wikis! TG's is absolutely hilarious, im not sure if they are 1:1 compatible with ss14, but the basics are probably the same!
Imagine a hydroponics tray coming to life and suddenly preaching about doom and how its armies shall claim yhe station.. almost like a certain toaster...
In ss13, find one server and stick to it. It's hell to switch to another and then have to relearn keybinds or painfully rebind everything. Ss14 doesn't have that problem. 11:28 Fun fact: Bananium (the material that clown statue is made of) is radioactive!
I only play ss14 never got around to playing 13. I’ve been playing 14 for about a year or two, it’s a great game and they keep adding content from ss13 like surgery.
As a wrench head main myself, I know all too well the pain of missing everything going on because some silly hunk of rock blew up an otherwise inconsequential section of the station and command demands it gets fixed. Just another fracking shift on Space Station 13/14.

This is the best ever video to recommend for a new player holy, i've been looking for this for a while since i got a few friends hyped, but they dont understand much yet. If you can, i would love a video about the marine corps server where everything gets more combat focused. i feel a lot of players who get bored from the regular gameplay due to stuff you said (long boring shifts where nothing seems to happen) would love to play that. If you dont know what im talking about, its known as CM14, or sometimes as RCM14 (roundy's marine corps is the server name i think, am unable to check it right now) Again, this isnt a demand or anything, i just would really love a video in your style about it so i can recommend it to my friends too.
yeah, this seems an accurate representation of the games as a whole, though, I would say, probably would never need to use a tutorial video, but hey, they're there, I usually learned through the guides, and just sticking with one thing for a short bit, and like you said, always someone around to help teach. fun game, however, my anxiety makes it hard for me to even JOIN the game, but gladly, that's why there are people who make videos and vods for it. great game, good for people to play, or watch. and quite a selection of people to watch it for as well~
is it really that complex controls? i picked it up in like a couple hours. which sure is long but, a look at the key binds in options taught me most of everything i know. i just watched liltenhead for entertainment
12:11 I was in that round! Everyone bullied the nuclear operatives so hard after the round had ended Edit: also at around 15:12 the formally dressed moth is my character
How did you record the footage of the events that happened when you weren't present? Is there some kind of replay viewer? Or is it just clever editing...?
Ah, i remember my first few times playing ss13.. i remember trying out robotics once i got used to the controls. Suprisingly; robotics requires a lot more brain surgery than you'd expect. So most of my first shift was practicing the "safe" removal of brains on monkeys. So yknow.. i dont murder the next person im turning into a cyborg. You also build mechs and robots of course.
This is a great review honestly. I used to watch Tex play ss13 years ago, but could never be bothered with the hassle of the byond engine. Steam made it more accessible, and now 1000hours of game time it's probably my favorite game ever..
As an SS13 player (~3k hours, da hell...) I want to say about BYOND. Yea, it's looks like jalopy your's grand-grand-grand-grandfather, BUT that doesn't mean it's horrible. Time did a very good projects like TGMC, CM, LifeWeb, Shiptest, Ashen Sky and more. I am not an programmist, but BYOND is MORE understandeble, than SS14 Robust-something-what. I can do something and it will work, or show me problems. In SS14 code is... strange thing at all. That is the biggest problem of SS14.
ECS is a very popular modern game dev structure nowadays, and I *think* it's better than tgui and the cursed DM language (BYOND technical debt i suppose) to learn and read, especially for beginners. But yes, BYOND isn't nearly as janky or laggy as it might seem, thanks to developments made in recent years. RUclipsrs like to trash on BYOND for it's ancient UI and being like a virus, but it really works fine 99% of times.
Every video (other than this one) that tries to explain what SS14 (or SS13) is usually only shows these facts: 1. Clowns 2. Avali 3. Avali 4. Avali 5. NSFW 2d roleplay that gets spicy somehow 6. Clowns 7. Avali I personally haven't gotten into the game because 1 bad experience shunned it away from me forever. The owner of the server wanted me to write a *5 paragraph essay* is to why I should be invited to the server and why I would be a good fit.
As ss13 enjoyer I say, that the main problem with it - uploading. Later is ok. Also ss13 and ss14 differs from each other by mechanics. On ss13 you have Xenolabs yo create a farm from slimes and other creatures... sometimes entyties. Also, there mines with bosses and ruins. In ss14 you can create and actually pilot new spaceships, large or tiny, research artifacts and work on anomalies, not only deactivate them.

The game was super confusing for like the first hours but I loved every second of it. Even now with almost 150 hours I'm still learning new mechanics.
i was a robotocists my first ss13 round and was trained in how to steal brains and turn people into borgs
This was a great video! 👏👏
The funniest joke about this video is engineers actually doing their jobs
Awesome video, just hope that the community jumps you for creating another tide (seth is its whole ordeal anyways). The animations were great, they looked really well.
"Aah" *gets draged into the dark*
Ok so I just watched your video, and as someone who has played ss13 for a few sleepless nights: This video was Accurate 😂
I love the Med/Science roles, as many servers had some unique differences.
Don't be afraid to talk to others if you are new. We're all happy to teach!
A TRULY ROBUST REVIEW
proximity voice chat would be peak
Holy crap im in the video (Elster firebrush during gamba session)!
Man, Whoever animated that truck-kun must suck. 😂
Oh man, didn’t know ss14 was a thing. Been a decade+ since I played ss13. Time to jump back into the fray on my week off starting tomorrow. Oh no.
Ss14 and thirteen servers have proximity tts, TG for 13 and Starlight for 14
A recommendations to newcomers! Welcome! Most stations have wikis! TG's is absolutely hilarious, im not sure if they are 1:1 compatible with ss14, but the basics are probably the same!
Literally found this while waiting for Vulture server to restart.
11:28
Fun fact: Bananium (the material that clown statue is made of) is radioactive!
Just another fracking shift on Space Station 13/14.
>be me, cap
>ready to do my cap responsibilities
>throw hamlet, the lovable hamster, into the cold darkness of space
>done with all my cap responsibilities
>die to a rat in maintenance
I would be playing this game but I don't think there's any STT function. There is an external program for it on 13. I'm a very slow typer.
If you dont know what im talking about, its known as CM14, or sometimes as RCM14 (roundy's marine corps is the server name i think, am unable to check it right now)
Again, this isnt a demand or anything, i just would really love a video in your style about it so i can recommend it to my friends too.
yeah, this seems an accurate representation of the games as a whole, though, I would say, probably would never need to use a tutorial video, but hey, they're there, I usually learned through the guides, and just sticking with one thing for a short bit, and like you said, always someone around to help teach.
fun game, however, my anxiety makes it hard for me to even JOIN the game, but gladly, that's why there are people who make videos and vods for it.
great game, good for people to play, or watch.
and quite a selection of people to watch it for as well~
how to play ss14? steam doesnt have any play tests rn
You should try frontier station. You get your own ship ;)
space station 14 is one of those games that are like either. I hate this. OR. Omg this is amazing. it mainly depends on your first round.
Hell yeah, more spessmen into the fold
is it really that complex controls? i picked it up in like a couple hours. which sure is long but, a look at the key binds in options taught me most of everything i know. i just watched liltenhead for entertainment
Great video 👍
12:11 I was in that round! Everyone bullied the nuclear operatives so hard after the round had ended
Edit: also at around 15:12 the formally dressed moth is my character
How did you record the footage of the events that happened when you weren't present? Is there some kind of replay viewer? Or is it just clever editing...?
Every game of SS14 is saved as a replay. You can download them and replay the game in whole. Which is how I got parts of the footage shown.
@MooreOverVO that's absolutely sick, I came back to the game recently and had no idea
I have fallen in love with game. It is so worth putting time in to learn. Great video. Captured the fun.
This is a great review honestly. I used to watch Tex play ss13 years ago, but could never be bothered with the hassle of the byond engine. Steam made it more accessible, and now 1000hours of game time it's probably my favorite game ever..
even funnier: the ss13 pop-up windows and UIs run on explorer lol
RUclipsrs like to trash on BYOND for it's ancient UI and being like a virus, but it really works fine 99% of times.
also the Mandalore ss13 video is very old, so server slowdown was indeed a thing back then. But multithreading or something solved it.
Very good and high quality video. This game is like crack
I love ss14!!! I've had so many crazy adventures on nanotrasen stations
you should cover a few of the forks like RMC and Frontier maybe :p always fun to see what people think of those
Damn, I love your animation! Kinda cool!
Every video (other than this one) that tries to explain what SS14 (or SS13) is usually only shows these facts:
1. Clowns
2. Avali
3. Avali
4. Avali
5. NSFW 2d roleplay that gets spicy somehow
6. Clowns
7. Avali
I personally haven't gotten into the game because 1 bad experience shunned it away from me forever.
The owner of the server wanted me to write a *5 paragraph essay* is to why I should be invited to the server and why I would be a good fit.
billions must play ss14
And get banned when having fun
billions must try
this is the best ss14 review ive ever seen
Great video, you should try playing on Delta V, my personal favorite server to play on. Good community, they now have (shitty) surgery. Its great.
Thumbs up
Good job
Animation maw
Admins are cooked, very cooked.
In ss14 you can create and actually pilot new spaceships, large or tiny, research artifacts and work on anomalies, not only deactivate them.
i think you deserve to hit the algorithm but ill be lying if im not gunna be scared of a tide if it does
i loved the bird being added into the game
