I have done this a couple of times and it tastes really good. I can recommend doing it with cashews, it's great but quite expensive. AND don't throw away the stuff that is left over, you can put it in a smoothie!

(Purified drinking water) After straining, I put it on the stove for about 2 minutes until it gets warm. It's really watery at this stage, in my opinion, but the heat helps it to thicken when it cools. Also, if you want a vanilla hint, add some vanilla bean to the almonds when they are boiling. Some people like the sweet vanilla flavor others do not. Some like it thick, and some do not. So it's all preferences. But that's how I was shown by my grandma.
