Basically, this mean any type of "butter" like peanut butter, almond butter, any type of nut butter - they are all made the same way as peanut butter - can be used in a blender to make instant "nut" type milk. Instead of buying the expensive nut-milk in the supermarket, just buy the nut butter and add water, mix them and your drink is ready. Just look what type of nut-butter the supermarket provides to have the taste you want. Really inspiring :-)
Hi, I was aware and familiar with method number 1. Who would have thought you could make almond milk from almond butter or flour. Thank you for educating me. Great video with step by step instruction.🥰😊🥰
Same with me. Almond butter wasn't even considered before this because the quality types are quite pricey. Using almond flour didn't occur to me until I looked around for coconut milk made from unsweetened coconut and water. I only need to glass or two on occasion and even the !liter cartons, once opened, go bad in a few days. I'd rather make a small amount as needed than toss out a half or quarter carton.
You forgot my personal fav. Using a cold press juicer. The horizontal juicer works best. I brought the NamaJ2 to try but ended up going straight back to the horizontal juicer. With the help of a fine sive, no nut bag is needed. Max nutrient with no destruction from heat or high speed machines. liquid gold. Although sometimes I'll use a blender to get a second pressing, but using the horizontal juicer again to separate the milk from the solids. Which comes out like a dry powder.
Petra, I wish you lived next door to me. I have been out of almonds when a recipe called for it and I've used store bought when in a rush 😭 but I had almond butter and almond flour and NEVER thought to use it. Thanks to your straight to the point videos I am learning so much!!! I was looking forward to Tanner's review of which milk tasted best 😀
Thank you, Nadia (I'm pretty sure that sometimes you go under Nadine - which one do you prefer?) Anyway, I am really happy you learned something new from this video :) I like almond milk from whole almonds the best although I do use the other versions in a pinch when I run out of whole almonds/
I am grateful for another wonderful instructional video, Petra. Now that I have a Vitamix Ascent 3500, I plan on making these recipes in the near future. Thank you for everything!
Hi! Thanks for sharing the info. Could you please let me know how many parts of almonds and water are needed for the classic method? I did not find any amounts in the recipe. Thanks again!
Hi Wendy - I am so sorry! I forgot to update it. 1 cup of whole almonds yields ~ 1 1/4 cup of almond flour, so I would use that amount with 3-4 cups of water (depending on what you want to use the almond milk for). Since almond flour doesn't produce as creamy milk as whole almonds, I typically use 3 cups of water when using almond flour. For the almond butter version, I go with 1/4 cup of almond butter and 2-3 cups of water.
Excellent video! I love how you explained evertything❤️ I have almond meal that has to be used. I went to your blog but I don't see a recipe for the almond meal method. Also if I want to add hemp seeds how much should I use? Or do you have a recipe for almond/hemp see or macadamia nuts/hemp seed?
I am so sorry for the late reply, Karen! By almond meal, I am assuming you have ground up almonds, not almond meal from almond pulp. If you have ground up almonds, you would use a bit more than when using whole almonds. So, instead of 1 cup of almonds to 4 cups of water, you would use 1 1/4 cups of ground almonds (almond meal) to 1 cup of water. If you're also adding hemp seeds, they will make the milk creamier, so depending on how much, you could scale down on the almond meal. Let me know if you have any questions :)
@@NutritionRefined thank for replying back. Ok, I'll use my almond meal, which I bought at the store but a recipe but didn't work out. About how much. Hemp seeds do you suggest? 2 tbsp?
@@KarenLeon457 The amount of hemp seeds is really up to you. You could make 100% hemp milk with just hemp hearts or do 50% hemp and 50% almond or if you just want to boost the protein content, go for 1 cup almond meal, 1/4 cup hemp hearts, and 4 cups of water. If you don't want to taste the hemp at all, just add a couple of tablespoons of hemp to 1 1/4 cups of almond meal and 4 cups of water.
I have the exact amounts on my blog: nutritionrefined.com/homemade-almond-milk/ (1 cup almonds and 4 cups water or 1/4 cup almond butter and 3 cups of water)
Hi! Thank you for the video! In the third method you said the flour should have all the fat, why? I bought a defatted flour because it has more protein.

How did you get the water and almond flour to blend in so much?? I can't seem to get it like that. Mine always looks like i just added almond flour to water
HI Curtis - my apologies for not specifying that. Yes! You could just use 1 cup of ground almonds to 4 cups of water (or if you'd like creamier milk 3 cups of water).
Great Video :)! How many cups of water per teaspoon (or was it a tablespoon) did you use for the almondbutter - milk- version :)? Thanks in advance for your answer. Have a wonderful and hopefully sunny day :D!!!
Here's what I did after Hurricane Ian when we had no electricity for almost a month and I don't have room to store boxes of shelf stable almond milk. I used a protein powder shaker, the one with the steel ball. For this method use almond butter that has no other ingredients, no salt no sugar or anything like that and also try to use creamy almond butter. First you need to stir the almond butter real good because it separates since it has no oils or anything like that added. I like mine a little bit stronger so I used 1 tbsp of almond butter + 3/4 cup to 1 cup water, put that in the protein shaker and shook the hell out of it for about several minutes. I also added a pinch of Himalayan pink salt, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, a few stevia drops and 1/8 tsp xanthan gum. If you find it too gritty, shake just the water and almond butter first and then strain it through a fine mesh strainer, pour it back into the shaker and add any additional ingredients and shake a little more.
I'm assuming that I don't have to soak the blanched almonds. I bought blanched almonds to make almond milk. I do drink cows milk. I would only drink this once in a while because I do like the taste.
@@NutritionRefined I looked at the recipe to print but couldn't find how much almond butter to use for making the instant. 1 tablespoon? Two? And then how much water?

May i know the almond powder that you use , is it raw?
It was finely ground blanched almonds.

Sure. If you don't mind the pulp, you can definitely drink it without straining it.
