      I found one growing in our greenhouse. I can only assume it came from our compost bin from Christmas 2 years ago. It is definitely an almond as part of the shell was still with the nut. The plant looks different to ours but I suppose there are many types of almond trees.

    Worked great for me. Followed the steps few difference but watched ur video and mixed with some of my own techniques for other large seeds. Soaks 2 days starting in warm water then wrapped in Paper towel in fridge for jan1 till Jan 24 so 3.5 weeks approximately in the cold cut moist section of fridge.
    I didn’t peel anything as mine remained still rather hard these were fresh fall harvest almonds from my other trees. They did sit in garage NE cold from Novemberish till Jan 1st so 5-7 weeks approximately as we slowly ate some.
    After the 3.5 weeks in wet paper towel in plastic bag in fridge they were plant in my big pot which has several 1 year started Meyer lemons and last two days the leaves started sprouting on all 4 i planted.
    Also planted a few in my orchard area in late fall and marked where they are for ID purposes and will see what sprout rate will be this springs usually I get min 50% to a max 75% sprout rate but my darn goats!!! Them darn goats haha
    Nice vid. Like from me

      I would advice to keep goats away from your trees and saplings, i don't own goats but ranging goats damages my vineyard even it's surrounded by wire fence. They eat saplings completely and chewing on bark of grown trees.

      Put a drop or two of plain bleach in your water, store in a container (water bottle, mason jar) a couple days, use that water. Bleach will react with and neutralise the pathogens and mold spores in the water, and the almond "skin".

      In general, almond plants need about one inch of water per week.
      Using Cocopeat for growing media, after plant size in about 1 feet transplant in large container with potting mix of, Garden Soil, Compost, and you can also add compost as well

    • @GardeningSecrets
      @GardeningSecrets  3 года назад +5

      your last question answer is this process is called stratification. Stratification just means you are tricking the almond seeds into believing they have gone through winter. It boosts the germination rate of seeds which usually germinate within a few days of planting.
