This is actually useful. I set mine up (moons ago) that way and use it with laptop closed and mounted on wall behind my big monitor. But the laptop started acting up. First, the fan started making a lot of noise (noisier than when laptop sitting flat on desk), and then it started heating up, especially when I'm using several applications at the same time, and it keeps going to sleep on me. What could be causing that?

i have 1366x736 laptop, plannig to get 1920x1080 external monitor. WIll the external monitor work with 1920x1080 resolution, or with there be black bars all around? Ill use EXTEND mode, or the mode so only EXTERNAL MONITOR is showing up and the laptop screen is black.
