That's what i am saying. Recently only Insomniac has been making great marvel games. I like guardians of the galaxy but it didn't get the press it deserved. My point is other studios aren't developing as much or getting enough credit. So far only Insomniac has future plans people are excited for and this is changing that.

Soon as I saw Amy Hennig's name + studio attached to this my hype was kinda elevated. I need to chill out a bit until i see gameplay, but she's an OG that's been attached to some of the most revered game IPs including Legacy of Kain and Uncharted
It's great to see Luke learning and educating himself about all this engine/rendering tech stuff. He's much better at it now than he was before.
The actor playing black panther is Ezekiel from the walking dead , I just realized that .

This was a stellar demo for UE4, not for the game. I thought everyone caught on to this 5 to 10 years ago, but i guessed wrong. It seems like we're still very much pleased with hiding gameplay and mechanics behind shiny cinematic trailers and "strong assurances" of nothing nefarious occurring in the production of the game. Wonderful.
this is UE5.4 though? the whole point of this showcase is to show what the engine is capable of, it’s not summer gamesfest.

I just want more good superhero games. Arkham knight, Spider-Man, and guardians of the galaxy are really the only ones In recent memory worth playing.

You coulda show me that trailer and say "This is the next Marvel TV series" and I woulda said "Aw damn guess I finally gotta get Disney+". Everything, the looks, the premise look amazing. Now only time will tell if it will have gameplay worth this level of detail.

The order 1886 was so damn good, but it was simply too short, it needed another 4 hours and I don’t think it would have gotten the flack

I picked up the Order for like £5 in CEX a few years later, and loved it. The dense but short run time was a real breath of fresh air for me

Yes you can increase the snow and other textures with some dials and sliders, but... don't forget you have to preplan for that. It's not that every object has this built-in function of 'snow accumulation' or something. This has to be supported by the shader of every object that you want this effect.
So if that board meeting happens and the general manager asks if he can play with the snow-slider, the tech artist probably still has to go to his desk and create that slider.
And of course when in the next meeting, some other creative input (like: "now I also want some parts of the snow to be melted when close to a heat source, and the material should look wet and can I control the softness for that transition, that would be grrrreaaat") will make sure that same artist has to go back to his desk again to make more sliders/options/variables.
In other words: giving people more tools to make detailed stuff also creates more things to think of, talk about and feedback on. Game development time will still increase, because the bar for these things is constantly being raised.
It has been around a decade since the last time I was this in awe of a game's graphics. It is crazy. There are parts where I thought it was a live action trailer.
Guardians of the Galaxy game is great

The face doesn't match up to that at the very end because he's going to have the mask on. So there's no reason to worry about it. If there's a seen in the game they will perfect it.

Ms. Hennig. One of the few creators whom I actually get excited about when her games are announced. I was so let down when they squished her Star Wars game. She's up there with the Dave Gaiders and Casey Hudsons of the industry. Dare I say the Sven Vinkas and Warren Specters... She just makes and guides awesome games. This looks incredible. I actually clapped at the end of the demo. Nice.

In response to what you say at 22:10 About you being surprised it takes some of these developers so long.
You have to remember this is a new software new technology that all the people utilizing it have to learn before they can just start turning dials and utilizing the engine for these results.
I guarantee you. Everybody took a year. Just to learn what is possible and how to achieve it within the new engine.

When gameplay does finally come around I desperately hope this isn’t some card based combat like in midnight sons, this game will be absolutely mind blowing with a proper combat system.

The facian animations are lacking alot o micro animations, corridor did a video about rising ai to try and improve faces in video games and it has the same problem.

When I look at "RYSE: Son of Rome" (Xbox One) game I do not even think that ray tracing is needed. Very good lightening like SW Lumen + metahuman graphics and photogrammetry should be enough in some cases.

yeah it looks good. with amy it'll most likely have a good to great story. but thing with games is... how and what is the gameplay. without that it might as well not exist and just be a movie instead.
