God no! Anything Microsoft touches turns to shit
🤔 reminds me of the blade movie! Wesley said motherlovers always trying to ice skate a bill 🤷♂️ they should see by now money means nothing!
valve is a multimiliion dollar company not some small studio. microsoft has no money since they bought and crash so many studio lately to meet their quota overlords
Reminds me of bunjie with sony 😅
haven't disproved otherwise
@@georgeberthiaume4496you have a poor life
If something like this were ever true, it would be the start of the downfall of PC gaming.
They would buy, then I bet shut down the platform
@@joshuahstubbs6753 More likely they would just rebrand steam. Steam is infinitely bigger than the Xbox market place and people already have their libraries over there but it would effectively give them a monopoly over all of PC gaming whilst giving them a foothold in the handheld gaming and vr gaming market and access to some of the best games ever made. No way Valve is selling for 6x less than activision-blizzard.
@@joshuahstubbs6753 i think if this is all true. its a way to get game pass making money and not letting a platform take 30% of each purchase

Pc gaming has always been a failure. And it’s all been done by pc gamers themselves. Pc gamers have only made themselves look like an absolute joke
If Microsoft gets either Nintendo or Valve then you might as well kiss the industry goodbye.
Well lucky Nintendo would be happy to laugh them out the room, again, right?
May God have mercy on our games.
I am fully convinced that anything creative that Microsoft touches is not long for this world. How unfortunate.
Theres rumors microsoft is going to buy this channel? Thoughts?
About as likely as them buying Valve.
They don’t like that online gaming on pc is free.
Online gaming isn’t “free” though.
Developers pay a cut to Steam. So if they’re using Steam for multiplayer the developer is basically just paying Valve for the multiplayer support from the 30% cut.
Some games have monthly subscription fees on PC to cover the cost, more so MMOs.
Some games have micro transactions to makeup for the cost of supporting the online infrastructure.
@@PhantomGanhdiyeah then Microsoft will do there own online system like xbox live for it
@@DribblePWhy haven’t they already done it ? They have their own PC ecosystem with game pass completely independent from steam
@@PhantomGanhdi free for us. And I wouldn’t know about Paying to Play MMOs because I’m not one for self inflicted suffering.
If Microsoft gets its grubby hands on Steam, I'll start pirating every single game.
😅😅 If that was case why don't u do it now 😅
@@georgeberthiaume4496because Microsoft doesn't own Steam and never will?
That would be a literal monopoly move and that's illegal.
@lukastemberger exactly! Like, didn't they have legal issues when buying Activision? Because of how big the company was? I can only imagine those legal issues and fees would be dwarfed in comparison to what it would cost to buy Steam
I will be buying my games somewhere else.
Valve is a privately owned company. Microsoft cannot buy it unless Gabe wants to sell it, which won't happen.
Microsoft: hold my 69 billions
@@IsaacChoo88Gabe left Microsoft to start Valve. I doubt he wants to sell to them.
It's not going to happen.
Even then it won’t be allowed by Europe
I doubt Europe will want to anger Microsoft and lose out on the millions in tax revenue steam brings in each year.
They'll put up a show and go through the motions for the sake of posterity, but all that matters is if the US allows it since that is the tail that ultimately wags the European dog when it comes to matters of real importance.
We saw that playout on full display during the activision buyout saga.
$16B for Valve is way too low. There's no chance they would sell, not for that
Exactly Valve isn't just steam, they have the steam deck, the index and and amazing library of live service and single player games honestly Valve would probably closer to what they paid for Activision than anything else
I would hope Gabe is based enough to understand that kind of money is pointless any way.
agreed, it's worth infinity money, meaning it's not available for purchase.
Considering CS skins account for about 3 billion dollars as a market the idea that valve is only worth 16 billion is actually a joke
Maybe they are valve at 16b I mean MS is a smart company so idk.
Typically Phil Spencer talking out of his ass with fantasies and dreams. Maybe he should have been more worried about making Xbox better than dreaming about buying Nintendo or Valve.
@user-tz9wk2rj2d The real question is, "What are YOU taking?" Not a single iota of what you've written here has anything to do with the comment you're replying to.
@user-tz9wk2rj2d Yes actually, as a business theres so much more institutional weight preventing something like a nintendo sale from being possible let alone unlikely
They don't care either way about Xbox, because they want to destroy the gaming industry.
It's scorched Earth strategy to "Embrace Extend, Extinguish".
Microsoft would turn Steam and PC gaming into garbage, Linux support would dwindle, innovation would be gone, and we would be lucky if it became Windows Exclusive. Backup your games boys!
it's Bobby kotick's world and he allways wanted to destroy gaming
Big doubt steam would sell to microsoft, especially under gaben.
Backup up "your" games is useless lol, it requires steam to launch, sense it has DRM in it.
And you don't own your games, you buy a license to play the companies game.
Seeing what those board of directors said about buying out Nintendo and Valve in those leaked documents is disgusting. No wonder their Xbox brand is crumbling.
1:28 Microsoft did try to buy Nintendo. Lookup Nintendo's response.
They laughed.
Did Nintendo tell Microsoft to eat human 💩?
I don’t think the Japanese gov would allow it.
@@verskarton Are you sure about that ?🧐
Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard had serious monopoly concerns. Valve has had monopoly allegations levied at them as well. How Microsoft would legally be allowed to own Steam I don't even...
Valve does have competition(s), it's just that they have really small market shares (smaller than I'd like, you dont own shit on Steam let's face it).
Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard doesn’t have serious monopoly concerns, without activision Microsoft has less studio than Sony.
@ni9274 if you dont know about the leaks, Microsoft/Xbox has no problem taking over Nintendo in the future. Buying a whole publisher like activision blizzard doesnt strike you as a monopolistic act when they are prepared to buy one of the big 3 games/console makers?
Dude let's not effin pretend we dont know why they are doing what they are doing. It doesnt require much "intelligence" XD

Global regulators would NEVER allow Microsoft to buy Steam, and the literal monopolistic control they'd have on PC games sales.
That's funny because they allowed not 1, but 2 games publishers to be bought... by a massive games publisher. They arent seeing what shady macro thing Microsoft is up to.
It would validate everything the FTC argued for

So all the gaming industry = Activision and Valve ?

From a financial stand point it doesn't make sense. Microsoft spent nearly 85 billion dollars on the Activision merger which has yet to see a return on early investment and now they're going to spend another 16 billion (which btw Steam is clearly worth more) on a Steam acquistion when their total revenue for 2023 minus the operating income in 2023 was $211 billion?
and in regulation term, it was already a pain for MS to acquire AB, so i highly doubt this will even happen
Dude, Xbox needs to stop buying more studios and focus on the ones they have so they can help make better games for their Consols just take a break from buying studios. I really wish they could make us feel like we’re in a 360 era of gaming.

It wasnt a rumour Phil spencer said in a leaked memo saying Xbox wanted to buy out Value and Nintendo
That's Microsoft 101, if you can't compete with them, buy them.
It’s all part of Microsoft’s plan to ruin gaming. It’s what they wanted to do since the last few years of the 360. But everything, go subscription base so you can only rent games etc etc. You’ve all seen it being played out.

If they somehow did buy Valve, MS should expect to see gamers surrounding their buildings with torches and pitchforks.
if that happens I will probably give up video games completely...it would be beyond shattering to PC gaming world ugh
There's no way in hell this would be approved by regulators. It'd create a PC gaming monopoly.
This is why we have antitrust laws. Unfortunately, we don't have an FTC with the stones to do anything about it.
If this happens the gaming industry is over creatively speaking. Everything Microsoft touch it become garbage .
Also microsoft: we are not trying to have a monopoly on the industry.
People will say but Game Pass is good for the consumer!
Netflix for games as a future sounds horirble if you ask me.
This would potentially lead to even more antitrust scrutiny than the ABK deal because of how much of the market Valve controls for PC game distribution
Oh god please no. No. Nooooooooooooo!
How can it be legal for Microsoft to still dream about buying more big companies. That’s a monopoly
Thats a horrible idea, they're 70 billion in the whole, they not dropping X billions to buy Valve
Microsoft can't play those corporate games with Valve. Valve is not a publicly traded company.
Imagine Microsoft adquiring Nintendo just to shut it down a few years later because is “not profitable”
The activision blizz acquisition wasnt good to begin with but people were like this is fine lol
Christ I shudder at the idea of Microsoft buying Nintendo and Valve
Microsoft already tried to buy Nintendo once.
Microsoft is just trying to buy money at this point. Failure to compete spells doom for any business; no matter what companies they buy, Microsoft has not shown they are capable of not screwing this up.
I really like Steam as is. I DO NOT want Microsoft buying them.
I'm sick of these big companies buying everything.
Can't happen. The ABK acquisition almost got shot down on anti-trust laws, and Valve is a much larger chunk of the market share. There's no way even Microsoft can pony up the funds to buy out Valve, and even if they could (which would involve going into frankly cosmic levels of debt) they'd be shot down by both the US and EU on the basis of anti-trust. If the EU was willing to poo-poo the deal based on how much of the cloud-gaming space Microsoft controlled with just ABK then doing it but like ten times bigger is a no-fly zone.
Valve makes money just through distribution, they’re not selling. They’ve essentially became what all these companies WANT to be. Give Valve 50 more years and they’re going to be the biggest of all these companies other than Microsoft.
No. No. No. No. Just no.
NO!!!! I do not need Microsoft killing the PC marketplace with their crap
If MS pulls out a Disney move and starts buying everyone, I'm leaving gaming for good, they've been killing even successful studios, the worst CoD ever was released under their belt, they've killed almost all of their franchises and want to spy on you with AI on Windows 12, hell no!
Everything midas touched turned to gold, everything Microsoft touches turns to shit.
Microsoft can't play those corporate games with foreign companies. I don't know about Japanese law but in France the government has to approve foreign ownership.
Selling Valve to Microsoft is not decided by that list you showed. Its decided by Gabe. And I doubt Gabe has any intention to step down from his throne. Its not that he lacks personal funds, and can even buy a second car any time he wants.
We forget that lord gabe is a mortal like us even though he looks like the saviour nowadays. But one day this will happen
I guess it's time to shut down Ninja Theory to buy Valve!!!! Or shut down Ninja Theory just because Microsoft is being greedy.
They aren’t shutting down ninja theory. Not for another 5-6 years, anyway. They have one more game.
OMG no, pls no, no no nope nooooo
The Anti Trust authorities would never let this happen.
I highly doubt it, but it wouldn't be surprising if they tried.
Anti-Trust would for sure block this.
I have some serious doubts that Gabe and the team over there would sell at all. They have it made over there. And Steam keeps them very much alive. Gabe himself many times has said he's glad they don't have investors to please because he wants as few people between them and the customers as possible.
After ABK no regulatory agency will ever allow MSFT to do another purchase of that size
I’m absolutely certain that photo of Gabe playing the Steam Deck on the couch is taken from a satire video about voice actors and development time compared to Valve Time.
Gabe probably laughing at Xbox always tripping over their own feet every 5 minutes 😂
I would absolutely sell the shirt off my back for 50$
Nintendo's market price is $13.33 per share right now.
Did anyone really read this as a thing that will happen? Obviously, any company would ideally want to buy up things that make them money. It was basically the equivalent of am executives corporate Christmas wish list
People underestimate how vital being privately held is to maintaining the vision of the company. Once investors are involved and stockholders get their hands on it, priorities shift to just making it as profitable as possible, quality of the end product be darned.
It's all over if Microsoft buys Valve. But this kind of thing was what I always feared why we should never let ourselves get addicted to any software, no matter how good the original guy is about it. All it takes is he gets bought out.
Why would valve ever sell? They own steam, why would they ever consider giving steam to someone else to share their money with? No valve has always been a private company and they’re gonna stay private
they cant just do that, valve isnt publically traded as far as i know...also thats a lot less than activision blizzard, valve should cost a lot more
Why would Valve or any sane company want to be bought by Microsoft.
I hope Valve doesn't accept them. They'll ruined it when they could've made more money.
Well... I would stop gaming all together then...
Whether this is true or not, I hate how Microsoft is trying to become a monopoly within the gaming space. Even after buying studio after studio, they still have nothing to show for it and even when they do have something that is great (Hi-Fi Rush), it isn’t enough for them. Resulting in shut downs and layoffs. My guess is that if this is true, buying Valve is a safe investment because most of its money (presumably) comes from Steam. With that being said, buying Valve for them wouldn’t be the same as any regular studio acquisition, it’s more of buying the ownership to the best profitable store for PC gamers. Which means that they don’t have to worry about any investment loss from a game since Valve owns Steam. It’s just a constant profit generator that will make up the money that they spent buying Valve plus additional profit. If this is true, then any money they save from layoffs and shutdowns will more than likely go to this acquisition.
i know this is a rumor, but man, if this happens, it would mean the end of gaming, because Microsoft are not to be trusted at all costs.
there's a reason why Gab wanted to get people using linux over Microsoft, he knew where things would head, and it looks like he's more right every day.
That would be an epic disaster. Microsoft would start charging a monthly fee to be on Steam. It would become an extension of XBox. Please god no, that would end gaming for me.
Gabe Newell better not hand the company over to Microsoft.
Publicly trading non-commodities is the most self destructive aspect of unfettered capitalism. Speculative bets on things like Oil and grain make sense, speculative bets on video game studios just kill game studios.
It would be a buy, consolidate and shut down moment.
Once something goes publicly traded, the product passion is gone and anti-consumer tendencies grow.
God, i hope this never happens
I hope it stays a rummor 🙏
I am a grown man. I audibly gasped.
that would be a dark day if microsoft bought steam. they would ruin it.
There's a running list of every company Xbox has talked about buying... it's everybody
This will never happen while Gaben is still alive. Its just a shameless attempt at eliminating their top competition.
if this happens then Sony & Nintendo would have to save the gaming industry once again..oh wait i take that back microsoft will probably just out right buy all of Sony & Nintendo nevermind..WE ARE ALL DOOMED!!! R.I.P. Japan! greedy americans of microsoft never stops at all
It seems unlikely to happen, and the regulators won't allow it to happen, but people need to remember that Gabe is not getting any younger. If and when he retires, what happens then?
I'd believe them buy Epic before buy steam. That's just TOO much of a market share of PC gaming store fronts
They won’t sell and at best they’ll make an app for console to stream you’re games and license it out. But Valve isn’t stupid enough to selling to a console company- software company.
