L7s isn’t a good sub.. I’m sorry.. the comp r is better unless depth is an issue.. the l7 might be the best non jl sub when it comes to depth.. won’t say its a shallow mount but it goes the line.. the output based on cone area just isn’t there.. I feel like kicker is using this as a money maker based off its bigger brothers performance.. Now I’ve never heard it in an 8 but it leaves a lot being wanted in the 10-12 range.. but being honest the comp r does to.. but imop the comp R is superior driver.. forget the model but the one just below the comp r I think is better then the l7s too.. this is kinda marketed as the flag ship of the mid range line by kicker and in that tier its actually 3rd best.. And you can make them get low but they don’t like getting low.. making them get low you lose soo much output.. it failed at spl, fails at sql and failed at sq.. Is what it is.. I actually think the performance of the l7s actually hurts kicker sales.. prove to output.. I honestly feel this sub is a very big reason companies like skar have been able to take off like they have..
Let’s be honest the fact I can throw a single 12” evl in a box with ok power and minor sound deadening and hit 140 in a basic mid size sedan and I have to throw 2 l7’s in the same car to get the same result.. Man being real hear.. the l7 is an over priced entry solo sub.. living off the status of the comp q and solo with the price that just doesn’t justify the performance.. its not even the 2nd best intermediate sub by kicker.. they are versatile as hell I’ll give them that.. but in that price range they are muh.. takes 3-4K burp on one of these to hit 140 on a single.. and kicker has an issue with all their intermediate subs.. the leads will fry and fail prematurely at prolonged use at rated clean power.. the comp r has this issue. The l7 has this issue.. at rated power in hot climates with prolonged use all the ones I’ve played with the positive side lead fries and turns black and fails. For the price there is a lot of alibaba subs that blow these out the water.. That last comp R I had and will ever own did this on a kicker 800.1 at 2ohm turned down 100w below rated.. that was the last straw for me with these kicker intermediate and entry subs.. they just don’t compete.. the upper lines get it! But there money making lines leave a lot to be desired.. and kicker doesn’t help themselves with the inappropriate boxes they offer factory.. they just don’t.. they too worried about making boxes small instead of making them appropriate to the sub.. look no further then the single comp r loaded box vs the dual comp r loaded box.. huge difference in internal space and tune.. Stop it kicker! You’re better than that..

Since kicker discontinued the q class l7, I was hoping they brought us different configurations and options when it comes to loaded enclosures.
