I'm picking up one of these L7 12 today. Kicker is one of the only companies designing stuff anyone. You take a CT, B2, Sundown, Skar and it really seems like the same design. Not that its bad, just good to see Kicker still trying to innovate. They look cool as hell too.
Thanks for sharing and teaching us "ME" about that!! Something else I now know because of YOU!!! You're AWESOME because no one else is doing what you do!!! So THANK YOU!!
Dude this guy is the man!!! Thank God for a man on RUclips telling the truth about exactly why kickers higher end shit beats a lot of the competition in the same price range. Because after your skar and sundown are blown and or distorted thay kicker is still bangin hard as hell... I have a 12 inch l7 comp q in a 2.7 cub. Tuned to 30 and that fucker hits so hard people think I have atkeast 2 12s and a lot of the time I'll be asked what do you have in there a couple 15s... it was shaking my car while you were in front of me. Nope it's a kicker comp q 12 l7
The information is based on the science of sounds and how sound is creates. I love this information and I trust all of this guys information. I use the Q class in a single 8 enclosure in a Lexus LC500 and it believe me the output is incredible. Thanks for the awesome and truthful content.
Great video brother! It's time people understand to run their subs correctly instead of jamming a bunch of subs in a little box. Then want to blame the brand for why it doesn't sound good. Keep up the good topics!💯

Its great to see someone who knows details..... I said it many times... If a system is done right you dont need all kinda big shit, you need to feed it power to get power! I had 3 10 inch POPS subs in an 87 Buick Regal Limited in a custom ported box on a 3,000 watts (or 4,000 it was the red & black amp with no fuse on it) Crunch amp Class D... People just knew i had like 4 12s or 3-4 15s.... Like NOPE 3 10s
Nothing beats the right sub in the correct enclosure with the perfect power the subs need. I see people new to car audio go out and buy for example a taramps amplifier and some sundown sa subs and they are in a horrible enclosure with way too much dirty power just burning up the voice coils and it sounds horrible. It's cool that you are trying to help people with knowledge learned over years of experience.
That was me,this guy here.i had three sa8 and a smart 3.those things sounded like donkey balls.till i sold em to my neighbor and we built a box and put them on a skar rp 1800.i will be first to admit a taramps dont hold prayer to a decent korean board half bridge amp.the sq isnt there.sry

let me tell ya. I've got a 2019 ram. I've run sundown audio, Skar, DCaudio, B2's 12", 10" and trust me they all banged. But when I stepped up my game and bought a nicely built sub enclosure custom fit under my back seat. I listened to this dude about the air space. and how if you have more air travel you have more bass. he was pushing 8's I was like no way... I said screw it. I bought 2 kicker Q class L7 8"s in a ported box ran them in series. to about roughly 1400 rms and they took every bit. they are rated for I think the book said 550 rms each. but they pound. No one believes me that they are 8's! straight out flexing my panels in my truck . back glass ripples. roof looks the ocean during a freaking storm ! its nuts. I sound deadened my cab every panel . and I did upgrade all my speakers and amplified them as well. I'm telling you don't sleep on these kicker Q class L7 8's
Great content as always! In running 2 deaf bonce apocalypse 3012s in my golf and I absolutely love them but in excited for the new L7 X because my old X's were loud af and they sounded great! It remains my favorite setup to date and I've been through a lot of subs lol
Watching from U.K. England thanks man for the info here we have a lot of kicker lovers like myself and your right it's a lot to do with the enclosure box. I have two 12s comp q 4ohm 850 rms per sub looking for the right box. Can't wait xx
I love your take on this stuff. Ready for the next class 😃 I'd love to have you build for my 15 VW beetle hatchback. The SA 12 is in a nice"pre fab" it's sounds good now. I can only imagine how it would sound with your box.
I wish badass speaker manufacturers like Sundown, Deaf Bonce, etc would make square subs in various design and power levels. I want the absolute stiffest cone, with the softest surround and spiders, and high electrical damping/control. Not to mention a lot of excursions. Make those MFS in like 3 tiers with the 3rd being Nightshade/Apocalypse levels of motor force and excursion. Also, not sure if it works out the way I'm thinking, but my goal with having the stiffest cone, softest surround/spiders, with high electrical damping/control is to make something with excellent accuracy, but a very low FS that's suitable for any enclosure with no distortion.
Good facts.... boxes make the sound not the speaker bigger the box deeper bass... but also if ur speakers can't handle the volume of air it will blow the coil.... GREAT INFO👍🏽👍🏽🤩
@johnnypiper9387 no. I went with 3 rf T1S1 shallow 10s in a MTI box. As my luck would have it, my back seat doesn't have the hook that's needed for a seatlift kit required to run 4 8s. That hook is in the limited version Ram. I have the bighorn.
@Cory Binion cool how's it sound? You couldn't have did some 8s like the Sa v3 8s that are .5cu per sub? Now a days with these super 8s coming out jus 2 of them in a good ported box slams pretty hard
@johnnypiper9387 Thanks. As far as the sundowns, I'm not sure. My first choice of dd2508s and memphis Mojo 8s needed a seatlift. I think it's a clearance issue for forward facing subs. The box is not installed yet but it is built.I'm getting everything installed at once and I'm waiting on my jp234 amp (should arrive on the 5th)and 1 more set of hertz millies pros for rear door
I would imagine it wouldn’t sound the same because of the components the way they put together the heat dissipation the surround spiders etc. but yeah you would gain some dBs
I just bought 4 Rockford Fosgate P2 8 inch subs for a 2020.chevrolet Silverado. Box is ported to 33hz. Running 1,200 watts at 1 ohm. I hate the sound. I am missing my 12 inch Rockford Fosgate P2s. Is there anyway to make 4 8s sound better?
I watched another one of his videos where he states, in an under seat box, 4 8's is too much. You only need 2 in the correct box with the correct power.
"Who ever moves the most air is the loudest" is determined by total cone volume NOT cone area. All things being equal a subwoofer can have less cone area but due to its deep cone with a high roll surround will have greater cone volume and thus displace more air.
That is not correct. Think of the air inside the cone as being part of it. Because a sub isn't just launching the air inside the cone, it's interacting with the air in front of it and inside the cabin. And it can only do that through the layer of air that's sitting at the top of the surround. Think about it this way, if cone volume mattered, it would be a t/s parameter and box calculators like winisd would ask for it.
@@M.B.Enclosures also, gigantic surrounds make a sub less loud. I generally don't mind sundown, but good God their surrounds suck. Less cone area, more mass, and the surrounds still buckle like crazy. You'll never see a kicker or Rockford or DD surround crumpling like a sundown or skar.
Skar recommends 21.875 port area a piece for my Skar SVR D4 12s. I feel like I should go 16 square inches per cubic foot on a 4 cube net enclosure . Am I right or should I stick with the manufacturers recommended port area? I feel like you would be the man to ask.
Deciding between 2- L7 8" ( non Q class 2- L7 8" (can't find any)) and 2- U8's, not really concerned with SPL, more quality, I have about .7 per chamber for a sealed down facing box going in a Lexus LS500 running 1000W Sundown amp. I'm torn what to go with!?
The u series will take more power imo , just lien usual so if it reliably takes twice the power you need twice the subs to be as loud , so now you have 1 sun as loud as 2 of the kickers in 1/3 the space . Kicker has stepped up the game huge just in the last 5 years tho and I really like the products coming out !
I built an under seat system for a 2015 silverado with 2 F8Ls, pretty close in output to the 2 8 QL7 in the 2018 F150 system I built, the F8Ls arent as tight as the QL7 8s nor do they sound as good. You wont find a louder 500 watt 8 inch sub than an QL7 8.
Planning to add a l7s to my 2013 odyssey, thinking I'll do a custom box and point it at the back glass for more spl, what's the biggest box I can make for that sub and it not sound like crap. I like loud boomy bass but the wife is complaining and saying i only get 1 8 so i figure the l7s class would be perfect! If I could find one I'd go with a q class
I think the 2508s are the best 8in subs you can buy. They sound so clean even free air they are crazy with how all you hear is what you want to hear and zero mechanical noise. I have had l7s and I really liked them alot but they don't call the 2508 the sw :super woofer: for nothing and the sw9510s are also amazing subwoofers
Real deal question here… daughters care has a 5 channel rated 750 on mono side.. does a clean 700 and dynamics to 950.. looking for single or dual 12’s that can fully use that low power.. I can get up to 8cubes if need be and still have 1/2 the truck available.. got 42 between the wheels. Little over 17 to the rear deck and squats out about 20” from seat backs.. I was looking to get her to a comfortable 140-143bd of a single good sub or dual lower mid levels.. for reference.. something like say 1 l7 Q vs 2 comp r’s to best use the limited power but not starve the drivers either.. pricing falls about right both ways for the budget too.. not even sold on ported tbh. Other then limited power I’ll need a bigger box and going reflex to best use the power. Here is the issue.. if I go single I want to do deep on the box and make it HO if dual it will be basic trapezoidal box.. both going to play similar even given the cone area.. she listens to everything from country to biggie.. to M so really leaning on a q in a deep sealed box as I don’t think the comp r’s will roll off a littler early according to programs unless I tune it really low.. then I’m giving up the drum bass higher up.. Open to any box or speaker setup but im not drilling 3k on her sub and amp.. 700-900 just isn’t really cutting it for here.. even looked at say two scars but they are too power hungry even being cheaper speakers.. Any ideas, thoughts recommendations on a driver that that fits this premise outside the the ones I’m already considering.. in all honestly I think the sgl l7q is likely the best overall. Oh and being a typical 5ch it’s only 2oh on the mono side
Fantastic video, and I have question. What would you recommend for a 2011 Yukon none Bose setup. I actually want a stealth box behind the panel rear driver's side but open to suggestions
I learn things different everyday I was just saying to my cousin don’t matter what subs you have it’s about the box you put some cheap subs in a spec made box an you get results like you got some high end speakers in the trunk or truck
I love kicker still my favorite speakers well subwoofers but it makes me mad kicker keeps talking about that L7X and they never released yet they talk about it I think the x the l7x series of kicker it's going to take over the game it's about time for Kicker to release the l7x beast!!👌✌️
when you put the kicker L7 in a bigger than recommended sub enclosure, doesn't that put more stress on the sub's webbing/3 piece cone? you said its relying on the mechanical movement of the subwoofer because theres less air resistance inside the box... but wouldn't that wear out the sub's webbing/mechanical stuff faster? wonder why they wouldn't just recommend putting the L7 8's in a 1.5 cube box instead if its louder and runs cooler...?
So if I'm doing A. 2 8 box underneath my Silverado 2500. I should go with the kicker. Is that what you're saying? And another question that I have, do you sell boxes? It's my first time watching your video.
Now when the next class starts, do you want me to bring you an apple or some catfish 🤣 You remind me of my people around Jackson, Alabama! You ain't kin to any Phillips or Philes in Alabama are you? I love all subs it's like Christmas toys and candy for me just to hold and look at them all the time 👍😁
I loved how it started off. Good shit MBE 💪🏿😎
Also The new solo X is the most hyped up plastic sub imo lol.
Stop the hate...💯💯💯...
Love the new intro Fam!💪💪💯💯
this man know his shit thanks for the info
Learning from the best thanks for class
Just wondering if you would ever put shallow 8s square, in the doors for mid bass. 🤔
I learn things different everyday I was just saying to my cousin don’t matter what subs you have it’s about the box you put some cheap subs in a spec made box an you get results like you got some high end speakers in the trunk or truck
nice over view and explanation.
Love the videos bro
I have purchased RF R2-500X1 for my Dodge Challenger and was thinking
about Kicker - L7T124 but I'm worried about low frequency response
25-100 Hz.
Class in session that's why I subscribed
My mind just melted.
What will you recommend for a 2019 Ford F150 raptor for loud and sound quality?
You finally got a into...✊🏿✊🏿🔥
Loved the intro brother.
Love this channel because yes, I love subwoofers too....
I'm hearing about the X series kickers what are those about
I love kicker still my favorite speakers well subwoofers but it makes me mad kicker keeps talking about that L7X and they never released yet they talk about it I think the x the l7x series of kicker it's going to take over the game it's about time for Kicker to release the l7x beast!!👌✌️
when you put the kicker L7 in a bigger than recommended sub enclosure, doesn't that put more stress on the sub's webbing/3 piece cone? you said its relying on the mechanical movement of the subwoofer because theres less air resistance inside the box... but wouldn't that wear out the sub's webbing/mechanical stuff faster? wonder why they wouldn't just recommend putting the L7 8's in a 1.5 cube box instead if its louder and runs cooler...?
So if I'm doing A. 2 8 box underneath my Silverado 2500. I should go with the kicker. Is that what you're saying? And another question that I have, do you sell boxes? It's my first time watching your video.
Now I am confused! I dont know if I should get two kicker 8's or two Dd's!
Keep on educating us!
For what I just heard base on volume in my 2018 cameo A round sub would be best base on trunk space ?
What about the Sundown U-10 it is a good sub for a trunk Chevelle size
yo, this dude knows his shit
Now when the next class starts, do you want me to bring you an apple or some catfish 🤣 You remind me of my people around Jackson, Alabama! You ain't kin to any Phillips or Philes in Alabama are you? I got folks in Louisiana too & some potnuz in the Magnolia state. Errrrbody good people fuh sho! My brutha you keep doing whatcha doing & I gotcha locked in on my subscriptions. Stay safe & be Blessed 💯🙏🏿💪🏾✊🏿✌🏿
You make me want to go back to kicker subs
MBE,
Do you happen to know the factory enclosure size in a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer?
I can’t find this info and my local shops haven’t helped.
I have the factory alpine system. To my understanding it’s very similar to late grand Cherokees.
8” woofer, looking to replace it and some amps.
Have you done an enclosure for 2 8 inch l7 and have a video of it
"The only thing size and girth does is help disspitate heat". Lol. That is NOT what SHE said.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
awesome video!! ty i could understand what you were saying!
