Savard states that their 12” HiQ subwoofer can handle 1700 watts rms, and significantly more with clean power. This is for a sub $300 subwoofer! I would love for you to test one to see if their claims are legit.

Honestly love both subs. I'm a statistics and number kind of guy. I would go with the deaf bonce. 1db gain for 100$ more... granted you didnt have to push the sundown as hard as the DB to get the numbers. Sundown always conservatively rates their subs. DB seems to hit the nail on the head with their ratings. For the amount of power the sundown took it almost seems like you would have to give it more than what it is rated get the decibels you pulled from the spl meter. Sundown probably louder I bet the Deaf Bonce is more than likely more musical > spl with this particular sub
@@ChickenJoe24 I _kinda_ take back what I said. The sundown has less distortion at high volumes, especially while playing lows. But it is not as punchy. The DB sounds better on kick drum type sounds where your feel it is your chest. Really just depends on what type of music you listen to.
@bailey2517 I have a x-12 v3 and I listen to a lot of suicide boys and it really really hits at only half the rms my friend has a skar 15 only at 1500rms but my 12 hits harder at half volume than that did at max at least I feel like it did
Those spots on the coil is definitely from clipping. Also xmax doesn't determine overall excursion whatsoever. Xmax is just a formula of linear excursion the coil staying within the gap and it's calculated by the winding width of the coil minus the top plate thickness divided by 2. So a 50mm tall coil windings with a 12.5 mm (1/2") top plate would be 18.75mm of xmax and same exact coil with a thicker 25mm (1") top plate Would be 12.5mm xmax. So the deaf bonce either has a shorter winding width or a thicker top plate or both, xmech is the mechanical limits of the motor basically to peak to peak, and I'd say likely the Sundown can move more peak to peak than the deaf bonce but that extra excursion may or may not noticably hurt sound quality whether that's better that comes down to the users opinion and what there looking for. There's people that say it's stupid but personally even tho sound quality is important the huge motors and insane excursion is what I look for in a sub...call me shallow lol, Bass is more than just function it's also a visual thing you want it to look badass too..., not many bassheads do not include form along with the function when choosing a sub!? They want both!!!!
Don't go with pioneer door speakers. I've owned 4 different pairs of pioneers. I even purchased some carbon fiber cone pioneer like 5 years back and I switched to nvx speakers and what a difference. I'm sure there are other brands that provide better speakers. I've always been a pioneer head unit fan but definitely not their speakers. Just use another product and save the money and time
The Sundown basket is functional. Forced cooling. Best basket in car audio bar none. I really prefer the traditional gasket ring also. I build walls and invert sometimes. Sometimes it's the small things.
What’s gonna hit the nasty lows for slowed n rebassed music? Money not really an option I’m doing 2 15s in a slot port tuned to 28 I have a design but can redesign box if subs need less/more air space. Right now my design is 6.64 on sub side so after bracing and subs should be 6.1 for two 15s.

I will take the DB Apocalypse over Sundown any day. As for another brand to test Nemesis Audio is a brand found in the Oklahoma Texas area and is coming on the scene strong with their subs and now Korean amps.

There is a Deaf Bonce vehicle that does a 170 dB for five minutes straight and does a 177 on 5k . I don’t know of any Sundown vehicle that does that. Although there are several 170+ Sundown builds. I like Sundown because of their supreme customer service. But either or is great!!

I been watching Deaf Bonce and actually was going to buy a couple of 3012's but they were out of stock at the time, same goes for B2 Audio. So I decided on two DC Elite XL 12's. Now I'm getting ready to put a decent system in my daily. One of those would work. I have about 4 mono amplifiers with a range of different wattage that are capable of running .5 ohm. Already been on your Facebook page. Congrats on that. I'd like to see you test some DC subs. If I get a suburban next year I'm going to try and do some lvl6 DC subs. Keep doing what you're doing. PARKER.. Try the B2 Audio Rage XL 12. It’s rated @2500 rms. But it has a extra huge spider and xl dustcap to keep the sub cooler when pushing the hell out of it.. The sub basket and spider is the most beautiful sub you’re going to ever see. The price is same as sundown pretty much. You need to test it!!!!

Thats why Sundown has alot of new patents with subwoofer basket designs,and Deaf Bonce designing baskets that nobody else is doing

Maybe Deaf Bonce determines the Xmax differently like Sundown. It seems to be, at Sundown that 100 mm peak-to-peak Xmech excursion means the excursion limit just before damage or just before bottoming out, and they determined the Xmax just as the half of it. At deaf Bonce is pretty plausible that the Xmax is defined as a one-way excursion at 70 percent of BL, so, if it is true, then Xmech or peak-to-peak excursion is in the most case when Xmax is defined at 70 percent of BL can be counted out as (Xmax + Xmax / 2) x 2. So, for deaf Bonce: (19 + 19 / 2) x 2 = (19 + 9.5) x 2 = 28.5 x 2 = 57 mm - this is the theoretical peak-to-peak excursion limit for Deaf Bonce - still just a little bit more like the Sundown's Xmax... Sound-wise: Deaf Bonce really sounded more musical, so, if I have to define which I will use for what, then Sundown just for competitions or shows, and Deaf Bonce also for competitions or shows + as a daily sub too, so...

I have four Sundown SA12-D2s on an Orion HCCA SPLX 3k watt in my Acura TL and they slam pretty good. I built the box, but it's old and I need to build a new one.
Come on Parker, now the correct comparison would have been the 3512 vs the xv3 if you want to stay in the same price range now I personally bought my 3515's on black Friday back when they were first released and priced at roughly 749ea but black Friday deal was 75 bucks off of that so I paid 675ea for the 3515's and the 12s would have only been like 550-575 for the 3512's and my 3515's will shit on some X15's lol I've already done the comparison as I own both!!! Smart shoppers can get things for much less but a side by the 35 series is much closer to the x series yet has a half inch bigger coil and 2 to 3 times the power handling capabilities

If I was looking at killing it at the 25-45hz range, would you say the DB would be the better sub to go with? I want to go with something that is pretty flat across the board and that doesn’t just excel in a small range of frequencies
I like how you do the db test. I wish other channels would do the same. The higher db is most likely due to what i mentioned in my previous statement having to do with the vc configuration 1 being xmax limited due to that while the other isent. U kind of answered your own question in the vid with out relizing it. Once again you can see the difference that makes on the winISD graphs also.

I'm running a pair of 3015's on a 7900 and I love em. Wouldn't trade em for a X ever. Zv.6? Sure, but at that point I'll just go with a 3515 or a 4515.
Been wanting another system ever since my quad coil 15" RE XXX and my JL 1200.1 amp got stolen about 20 years ago. But guessing I'll never have another system. Those have to be some of the best subs ever in existence. I watched some of my friends take it to competitions and passing it among each other for years then I bought it and was playing it loud daily for probably four or five years before it got stolen and was still playing like new.
i have a Misubishi Eclipse and id like more bass than my pair of Jl w3 8s. im considering a pair of sundown x8s or this sundown x12. which should i go for or if something else what should that be?
@@rashad5286 From what I understand the zvx is made for SPL and the vxf is made more for SQ. The fact that I'm running it at 2 ohms might be helpful sq and being in a really nice Gately box certainly helps as well. I am all about that sound quality.
I would think the xv3 12 would be more comparable to the 3512 and the 3012 would be more comparable to the u12. Without the discount they have on the xv3 it would be a closer price comparison to the 3512 and same for the u if it wasnt discounted it would be closer to the 3012 price point. Either way both are bad ass subs an cant go wrong with either
@@Savagexj that's why I went with the db 3012r instead of the u from sundown. They were in the same price point but the db had the carbon dust cap, bigger terminals, more power handling and was a better looking sub
Those xv3s are insane! Run your fs parimiters from each sub through win ISD and you will see the huge difference between the 2 just like in your vid when u show the voice coils.

Try the RMS test on one of the Pride Audio subwoofers. Those are beasts as well. I’d go with a deaf bonce sub because I’ve never experienced owning one of those!!
Box internal volume is key, the Sundown XV3 has larger displacement which makes for smaller internal volume. Smaller internal volume means lower box rise, and more power to handle. Whereas the Deaf Bonce 3012R has a smaller displacement, gives bigger internal volume. Creating more rise, and less power to be obtained. Why people put big subs in big boxes on little power, and get results. Parker the Basshead still going strong, keep em coming brotha 💪
i never heard of deaf bonce till met this dude who had 2 12 told me to sit in car and relax when he played music and the bass hit OMG i felt like i couldnt breath how hard they where hitting thats when i fell in love with them
I have a build with 9 12’s on 20,000 watts. 3 cube per sub tuned to 27 hz. I started with DB 3012. It was great. Swapped to xv3. No other change. Didn’t even tune the amp different. The sundown are SO much better. They are worth $300 more a sub. The DB has no excursion compared to the sundown. So at 32hz and up basically no noticeable difference. On lows, under 30 hz the sundown is much better. The sundown plays 18 hz. The DB was just motor noise at 22hz.

IMO the DB subs look a hell of allot better. Now personally I've never owned any DB subs but I may be doing a build with some real soon. I'm doing so research and looking for input on what subs to pair with a Surge 7k. Any help or advice from all will go a long way because I'm planning on doing this in the next few days.
I have two old-school audiobahn alum12Q Both still in working condition I’ve had them as long as I can remember still my daily use as you know they have the rubber attached to the cone it had a slight tear where the rubber meets the cone I did my homework and I purchased the appropriate flexible glue applied said glue let it sit for longer than needed in the sub sound like they did when they first came out the box but I am looking to have them refurbished technically only one of them needs to be refurbished but I would like to send both so they can be examined do u kno of a place I can ship too!!!! 02744 is my area

Well how about the 12inch American Bass Godfather D1/D2 which has 3000 watts RMS and 89.2dB-90.1dB sensitivity, the 12inch Incriminatory Audio Death Penalty 2000 watts RMS and 90.1dB, the Trinity Audio TAS-M12 D1 2000 watts RMS and 90.1dB, TORO Force 12S 2000 watts RMS and 88dB, or the OE Audio 3500 watts RMS and 91.4dB ? If none of these 12inch subs are efficient enough for you then I don't know what sub is because they all kick ass in that range!

On a sidenote, is there an error in the production of the surrounds which when they play it has to make creases at high excursion?
It's not an error any mega roll surround will do that even if it has ridges.

Sundown underestimates their ratings by A LOTTTT. I’ve seen people double the rated rms with no issues

Look go with some db mids or if you don’t wanna spend the money skar pro audio mids are good if you tune them right paired with the right tweeter

How do you like those elite 12s? Are you still running them, how do they hit lows, are they musical?
I did the elite 12xl s they are louder a little but cant handle as much power as the dbs
Impressed with the DB for being cheaper and having a smaller magnet and less xmax and yet handled 2600 rms,and was only a little off on the spl test.
It handles more than 2600rms

PARKER.. Try the B2 Audio Rage XL 12. It’s rated @2500 rms. But it has a extra huge spider and xl dustcap to keep the sub cooler when pushing the hell out of it.. The sub basket and spider is the most beautiful sub you’re going to ever see. The price is same as sundown pretty much. You need to test it!!!!
Definately think these two companies are the best at what they do over the entire car audio spectrum.

Thats why Sundown has alot of new patents with subwoofer basket designs,and Deaf Bonce designing baskets that nobody else is doing

As for active production sundown, DB is doing it big time.
Other company's have great woofers too like resilient sounds there subs are actually bigger and do just about the same or more numbers then sundown
Maybe Deaf Bonce determines the Xmax differently like Sundown. It seems to be, at Sundown that 100 mm peak-to-peak Xmech excursion means the excursion limit just before damage or just before bottoming out, and they determined the Xmax just as the half of it. At deaf Bonce is pretty plausible that the Xmax is defined as a one-way excursion at 70 percent of BL, so, if it is true, then Xmech or peak-to-peak excursion is in the most case when Xmax is defined at 70 percent of BL can be counted out as (Xmax + Xmax / 2) x 2. So, for deaf Bonce: (19 + 19 / 2) x 2 = (19 + 9.5) x 2 = 28.5 x 2 = 57 mm - this is the theoretical peak-to-peak excursion limit for Deaf Bonce - still just a little bit more like the Sundown's Xmax... Sound-wise: Deaf Bonce really sounded more musical, so, if I have to define which I will use for what, then Sundown just for competitions or shows, and Deaf Bonce also for competitions or shows + as a daily sub too, so...
Judging only by thumbnail, sundown looks just so much more beefy it has to ve worth 100 more

I have four Sundown SA12-D2s on an Orion HCCA SPLX 3k watt in my Acura TL and they slam pretty good. I built the box, but it's old and I need to build a new one.

Come on Parker, now the correct comparison would have been the 3512 vs the xv3 if you want to stay in the same price range now I personally bought my 3515's on black Friday back when they were first released and priced at roughly 749ea but black Friday deal was 75 bucks off of that so I paid 675ea for the 3515's and the 12s would have only been like 550-575 for the 3512's and my 3515's will shit on some X15's lol I've already done the comparison as I own both!!! Smart shoppers can get things for much less but a side by the 35 series is much closer to the x series yet has a half inch bigger coil and 2 to 3 times the power handling capabilities

If I was looking at killing it at the 25-45hz range, would you say the DB would be the better sub to go with? I want to go with something that is pretty flat across the board and that doesn’t just excel in a small range of frequencies
I like how you do the db test. I wish other channels would do the same. The higher db is most likely due to what i mentioned in my previous statement having to do with the vc configuration 1 being xmax limited due to that while the other isent. U kind of answered your own question in the vid with out relizing it. Once again you can see the difference that makes on the winISD graphs also.

I'm running a pair of 3015's on a 7900 and I love em. Wouldn't trade em for a X ever. Zv.6? Sure, but at that point I'll just go with a 3515 or a 4515.
Been wanting another system ever since my quad coil 15" RE XXX and my JL 1200.1 amp got stolen about 20 years ago. But guessing I'll never have another system. Those have to be some of the best subs ever in existence. I watched some of my friends take it to competitions and passing it among each other for years then I bought it and was playing it loud daily for probably four or five years before it got stolen and was still playing like new.

I just love my VXF 15"... Can't imagine a better sounding sub. I'm running it on 2,000 w at 2 ohms.

@@rashad5286 From what I understand the zvx is made for SPL and the vxf is made more for SQ. The fact that I'm running it at 2 ohms might be helpful sq and being in a really nice Gately box certainly helps as well. I am all about that sound quality.

I would think the xv3 12 would be more comparable to the 3512 and the 3012 would be more comparable to the u12. Without the discount they have on the xv3 it would be a closer price comparison to the 3512 and same for the u if it wasnt discounted it would be closer to the 3012 price point. Either way both are bad ass subs an cant go wrong with either

@@Savagexj that's why I went with the db 3012r instead of the u from sundown. They were in the same price point but the db had the carbon dust cap, bigger terminals, more power handling and was a better looking sub

Run your fs parimiters from each sub through win ISD and you will see the huge difference between the 2 just like in your vid when u show the voice coils.

Try the RMS test on one of the Pride Audio subwoofers. Those are beasts as well. I’d go with a deaf bonce sub because I’ve never experienced owning one of those!!
Box internal volume is key, the Sundown XV3 has larger displacement which makes for smaller internal volume. Smaller internal volume means lower box rise, and more power to handle. Whereas the Deaf Bonce 3012R has a smaller displacement, gives bigger internal volume. Creating more rise, and less power to be obtained. Why people put big subs in big boxes on little power, and get results. Parker the Basshead still going strong, keep em coming brotha 💪

Both good looking subs. The DB definitely needs a boot on the motor that would make it look a little bit better.

i never heard of deaf bonce till met this dude who had 2 12 told me to sit in car and relax when he played music and the bass hit OMG i felt like i couldnt breath how hard they where hitting thats when i fell in love with them
I have a build with 9 12’s on 20,000 watts. 3 cube per sub tuned to 27 hz. I started with DB 3012. It was great. Swapped to xv3. No other change. Didn’t even tune the amp different. The sundown are SO much better. They are worth $300 more a sub. The DB has no excursion compared to the sundown. So at 32hz and up basically no noticeable difference. On lows, under 30 hz the sundown is much better. The sundown plays 18 hz. The DB was just motor noise at 22hz.

IMO the DB subs look a hell of allot better. Now personally I've never owned any DB subs but I may be doing a build with some real soon. I'm doing so research and looking for input on what subs to pair with a Surge 7k. Any help or advice from all will go a long way because I'm planning on doing this in the next few days.

I have two old-school audiobahn alum12Q Both still in working condition I’ve had them as long as I can remember still my daily use as you know they have the rubber attached to the cone it had a slight tear where the rubber meets the cone I did my homework and I purchased the appropriate flexible glue applied said glue let it sit for longer than needed in the sub sound like they did when they first came out the box but I am looking to have them refurbished technically only one of them needs to be refurbished but I would like to send both so they can be examined do u kno of a place I can ship too!!!! 02744 is my area
I like both of them for different reasons. They both have great applications.

I have the x15 v2 and yeah sundown kicks the rest now I liked this it was a real good comparison really let’s you know the right direction to go but I got a quick question if you have got time and can answer it Parker I know your busy man what would be two 12s In a sealed box’s could put on my synergy wfo2.10 dyno shows it made like 4500 watts but it’s 2250 watt amp I’ve looked t a few but there are so many and most are for ported I have a ported 15 and was wanting some of the old school tight hitting bass a couple 12s could give me ! I would probably pick the sundown just because of the xmax alone but either way the sensitivity on both of them is complete fuggin doodoo and they take alot of power to get loud that being said I kinda like how db looks so I ordered 2 db avatar stu 12s gonna throw them on this MD 8k and see what they can take this week when the subs arrive😎✌
Well how about the 12inch American Bass Godfather D1/D2 which has 3000 watts RMS and 89.2dB-90.1dB sensitivity, the 12inch Incriminatory Audio Death Penalty 2000 watts RMS and 90.1dB, the Trinity Audio TAS-M12 D1 2000 watts RMS and 90.1dB, TORO Force 12S 2000 watts RMS and 88dB, or the OE Audio 3500 watts RMS and 91.4dB ? If none of these 12inch subs are efficient enough for you then I don't know what sub is because they all kick ass in that range!

Funny that car audio is rated it's rms at way lower time than pro audio rms, Speakers should handle 2 hours straight at RMS without no failure.
Off topic ..I had two db 27 12's... Bass was decent.....switched to two sundown u 12s and the sundown's absolutely stomped the db 12s

I like db cause they are alot more original with there stuff they don't look like ever other sub. I would get db just cause I don't have money to buy sundown subs. But another good video and went to your FB and liked and followed.
