This Gentleman must be one of the best teaching mechanics on utube, as far as these early engines goes and he has lathes and still shows us how to get by with affordable garage tools.
Hey , this is Anthony. I live in So Cal el monte , 45 year Mechanic . I'm a big fan and very proud of your show & I OWN a 64 pan head . keep up the great work and content ! Also have a 74 Harley sportster ironhead
Hello Tatro I continue to truly enjoy learning and watching your videos. I have my ego all broke down and packaged up, just waiting to have the descent amount of cash to present to you, hopefully sooner than later. Thank you sharing your wonderful skills to those of us that need it. I want to do the work, in anywhere near your proximity. At least what I can. Thanks again Shane
are the shoulders on the studs not meant to help align them in the cylinders so the head bolts catch threads easily? Also as a means of knowing which way is up vs down? I just time-serted an ego block from a 92 dyna, we'll call it a swap meet motor with some good stuff in it. I installed all the studs with the shoulders up and they were PFT going into the time serts, wasn't sure if that was by design of the time serts or not but after watching this it seems to be one end of the studs are designed to fit tighter. Thoughts? Thank you. Matt
Colony sells new cylinder studs... I’ve noticed you build some and leave the shoulder up, why not update? Put them in the “new” way and have peace of mind? Use the old studs as a tool to loosen Kelsey hays brake calipers...
this whole motor was off. i just do what it takes to make things fit together correctly. none of these mods are in the harley service manual. it is just what you learn by doing it. tatro
Hey tatro, I have a 1990 Electra glide classic and my evo motor has a 2 post / terminal oil pressure switch it’s gone bad and I can only find 1 post / terminal oil pressure switch’s ..... any idea on a fix for this I can’t seem too find the 2 post ones anymore
So do those "one way" studs start on the "88"? ( Btw , you called that "super size adjustable crescent wrench " a hammer but you were using it for one so I guess it's ok ? Hahhaha
They taught us in elementary school shop class that if you opened one of those kilns while it was running, it would be like catching God fucking a pillow, and the kid who opened the door would be smited forthwith.
its only hot air, how bad could it be. wait until you stick you arm in there to get the part out to do some welding on. 1000 deg is no big deal but 1200 is getting hot. tatro
that's called doing two things at once or in my case i was trying to do a third thing that i needed to get done. i have done a pro clutch before but not in kelly's bike. tatro

The quality of the videos is definitely improving. I liked the walk-through of all the ongoing projects.
I'd also like to express preference for the longer format instead of the 5 minute clips.

1991 Evo, that should have said.
Ps
I’d be nervous too. So much fun
Rick is so entertaining. You guys make a great team.

doesn't matter where or if you have a shoulder. the large thread goes into the case and the small thread goes into the head bolt or nut on top.
tatro
Thanks for the info
hi you have an infinite skilled abilities and great understanding of those Harley-Davidson engines , I keep your rubber on the road, great videos !
Tatro what's your opinion on the evolution motor . Cheers
for straightening the cylinder studs, would a pipe work better ...fitted over the studs... 3 or 4" longer so you could hit one and not hit the others?
maybe, maybe not. i used what i have here and now.
tatro
Tatro Machine
just wondering..never opened the motor.. took off a bunch of stuff to chromem.just a screw driver and pliers shade tree mechanic..😁

it is what it is, swapmeet special. why start worrying about the parts now. build it the best you can with the parts you have and go for it.
tatro
Do you recommend hitting the cylinder studs, or would it be better to replace the studs?
this whole motor was off. i just do what it takes to make things fit together correctly. none of these mods are in the harley service manual. it is just what you learn by doing it.

@@TatroMachine appreciate that

try the auto parts store. cars use the two post version.
tatro
@@TatroMachine I’ll look around for some auto ones ! You wouldn’t happen too have any nos ones ? Or even nos oil pressure gauges for the dash ?
Can you use a pipe to bend the studs? Maybe that would work from leverage,
more leverage but also more stress on the case. the quick hit with the hammer is easier on both the stud and case.
tatro
So do those "one way" studs start on the "88"? ( Btw , you called that "super size adjustable crescent wrench " a hammer but you were using it for one so I guess it's ok ? Hahhaha
i use my hand too but it hurts more.
tatro
would be grateful if you told me how your v-twin available supply of oil on the crankshaft journals and cylinders
the rods are pressure feed and everything else is splash.
tatro
Understood, thank you very much, you have a very interesting channel
You guys are a pisser. P.S. Love my Rivera pro one clutch like you buddy was installing best single upgrade for my shovel primary!
Wouldn’t a pipe be better for moving them studs??
maybe, maybe not. just think if things were made correctly.
tatro

Like in Time Bandits with the hermit crabs.
But good not evil.

com'on hit it! quit fukin with it ' lol
Dude needs to quit playing with it and adjust the damn thing. Those studs take some ass to move around. Hope you liked your care package, Tatro.
he is learning the tatro way of doing things.
tatro
Is this a repost ?
no, 1st posting of this video.
tatro
Tatro Machine .I think the tail end is .cause the torqing of the clutch basket and the roller on the floor .but whatever ..thanks .keep em coming !
I thought that as well, like 2 video's spliced together when they pan round to Kelly on the clutch basket
that's called doing two things at once or in my case i was trying to do a third thing that i needed to get done. i have done a pro clutch before but not in kelly's bike.
tatro
Crescent hammer.
no hay una manera menos cavernícola para hacer eso?
typical hi tech Harley repairs........
wheres my hammer.
tatro
we Russians are very fond of using a hammer)) but you guys are sounding as weak))
Remind me to never have these clowns work on my stuff!!!!
open crank and he is screwing dirt into the case...butcher...101
if you watched the playlist you would see that it all came apart again before the final assembly.
