Great video. Same problems here in USA on the Cummins ISB, ISL with high idle/low duty cycle engines. Seen them so bad they wouldn't start because so soot plugged at grid heater. Cool of some video of Euro7 engines (I assume) with the no EGR/dual SCR. Seen a International a couple weeks in demo unit at our shop with the S13 (Scania S13) that used BW non-VGT turbo, no egr cooler but an EGR valve with intake throttle valve, and no HC doser or DOC. Curious to see the 2024 MX and see if the they finally introduce the PX15 (Titanium Graphite X15) Cummins released an X15D for Australia, wonder if DAF will use it in Europe?
Hey Steve nice to hear from you 😎👍. It is, what it is I suppose with this issue I'm just glad Cummins sorted out YEARS LATER 😅😅😅. I have more footage of the ZF powerline gearbox they are fitting also, I love new developments 😎. I think my girlfriend's dad said Volvo has gone to SCR only on some products now 🤔. They all seem to be following each other now lol I saw the announcement for Australia but I don't think they will ever see that product in Europe unfortunately 😢
The new ISB in the current Daf LF without EGR is Euro 6, not Euro 7 as it is still under discussion and won't arrive before 2027. Thanks for the mention of the International S13, I had no idea that Scania was making any sorts of US engine! Visually it seems identical to the Scania engine, sporting only warm EGR and dual SCR catalysts. The European Volvo "extended SCR" engine also only has warm EGR. Daf has presented a version of the XG+ with X15 for Australia only, something that took me by surprise. The last time a Daf had a 'big' Cummins engine was at the introduction of the 95 in 1987. Daf wanted a range topping model with 500hp but didn't have the engine, so for some years the "95 500" had the Cummins N14 under the slightly raised cab. It was ditched when Daf managed to raise the output of their own engine to 500hp.
Ha ha ha ha I think all manufacturer's products have pros and cons. Do you think it's the way the systems are put together that is the issue or people's lack of understanding of the systems?
Hi Russell another brilliant video as ever. EGR is a mess I’ve had some fun like yourself on CAT and VOLVO engines. I like you have used EGR cleaner and was starting to use oven cleaner as a substitute cleaner. Thankfully the Scania’s haven’t been as bad only loads of NOx sensors. Keep up the good work take care mate
Hey Simon thanks for the comment 😀 👍. I'm glad you enjoyed the video buddy 😎. EGR'S are always fun 🙈. Daf recommend TUNAP for EGR cleaning but at some crazy price my budget didn't stretch to that lol All I can say is the new px engines should be a dream to do EGR clean on 😅😅😅😅
Apologies for the question drop, but you have already helped us with many problems with your videos. Our fleet of DAF LF E6 suffers from "DEF abnormal pressure", which then leads to power reduced etc. Priming and spray tests using Jaltest appear normal, road test live data shows 9bar. Do you have any breadcrumbs for us to follow please? Many thanks.
I really like this video. It is timely and properly explained. Keep up the good work. Presently I have a lf 55 180. It's very low on power. If I'm to backup, it dies down and even stop. I constantly have to be giving it excessive rev and burn the clutch for it to go over even the slightest grade. Also when driving regularly, It delays or struggles before it takes off to proper speed.
Hi thanks for the comment. I'd say blocked radiator fins either internal or external or fan/thermostat providing you have pressurisation issues due to head-gasket failure 🤔
The new PX7 has no egr either. However you missed an engine at the beginning which is the PX4 which has never had an egr it’s the lowest powered 4 cylinder they offered. Rarer than unicorn shit though I’ve never actually worked on one
Yes I've seen the technical data for it 😎. I COMPLETELY FORGOT about that chestnut of an engine!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, I've never worked on one or seen one either 😅 may it rest in pieces at the Leyland Museum
Good job. Always cleaning those pesky DFPE ports and I also do the upstream turbo sensor tube while we're there. I find bicycle bowden cable fantastic in a drill to wind through the pipe & ports. Already having cracked frontpipe flexi's on the 23's but looks a bit more space around the motor now. 👍
Thanks buddy 👍😎. Yes it's usually a quick clean out but this must have been driving around forever and a day with warnings on 🙈 I will try the bike cable as the tech who I did the job for rounded the Allen key blanks off as he didn't take the manifold off to undo them 😑 Ohhhhhh product issues already! NEVER 🙈
@@TRUCKTECHUK i always find if you remove the sensor from the pipe and raise the revs to 1000rpm and gently heat the pipe with a gas torch it blows out all the carbon
Now cummins have got rid of egr ,how long till DAF follow suit ,it would save a lot of money and downtime for the owners...Like you i can not remember if it was a recall or not...I am a bit lazier than you i pressure clean them way quicker
Hey Norb, well I think for the bigger product it works! I think the issue was the EGR valve placement instead of on the exhaust 🤔. No doubt Leyland would have had trials with Cummins on every different possible way to develop it and I'm glad they changed it. It might have throttle valves now but we lost the VTG and EGR and that can't be a bad thing 😂 I thought I could count on you to remember if the whole OBD A, B OR C was a recall lol Unfortunately, I didn't have a pressure washer in the van.....maybe in the next one lol
Emissions. Junk. They essentially took a cork, screwed some holes in it, and showed it right up the horses arse and wonder why the workhorse does not want to work. Is that Cummins I see? Good luck. Bring back the old no emissions trucks.
@@TRUCKTECHUK Does an EGR delete lead to cracked heads down the road for trucks exported to Africa? Obviously when going to Africa, no one needs to have adblue, dpf and all that for reliability's sake but is it also wise to do an EGR delete as well or best to clean the EGR cooler and valve and leave it intact?
Inevitably some of the Euro 6 dafs will be exported to you sooner or later. Keep an eye on this guys videos, he knows the modern MX engines very well. I work on MX 11 that aren't that old and they already have issues, in particular with the fuel system. Although more patent parts are available now you'll find a lot of parts are DAF/paccar group only at a fairly high price. All of a sudden a light will come on, dash will do the favourite duh duh dut and it will require something like a whole module that needs to be replaced. People have got quite familiar with them now though. Where as somethings can be easily negated and bypassed on euro 5 you may find things a bit more difficult on euro 6, a lot more integration rather than things being bolted on as an addition to meet standards. Nothing impossible though 😅. Adblue and nox emu widely available some of the deeper stuff will be more of a challenge.
@BurnedOutGarage poor Africans 😢! Imagine the light coming on the dash in the middle of the jungle and tractor or truck carrying supplies cant run! My advice to Africa is to go back to using horses and donkeys.
Brilliant guide.
We've still got a few of these 'old gals' where i work 😂
Great work Russ, very much appreciated 😊
Hey Phil 👋 thanks for dropping by! Yes old and knackered now lol

Hey, thanks for the comment. It could have been explained better but I was rushing this week 🙈
I'm glad you enjoyed it anyway 😎👍
hi, I wanted to ask how you can change the tire size on a daf xf106 2014 2013, that is, calibrate it to 90 if it was 70 80
Thanks for your videos
Hi how are you I am interested in that eclipse diagnostic machine please.
Hey, thanks for the comment buddy. If you shoot me an email or fill out the form at www.trucktechuk.com we can discuss your requirements
Great job from real master of his craft! Thank you for video and best regards to you from Belarus!
Any issues with soot build up on the intake manifolds?
egr on a known soot producing engine is about as brilliant as wood carved pistons.
Ha ha ha ha that's brilliant 👏 I wondered why i get a nice smell of hickory and cherry on regeneration 😅😅😅😅👌😎
So this year ther will be no EGR unit on daf trucks
Only the LF has had it removed mate
Great content bro keep going like that.
Cheers beny, nice to see you pal 😎👋
If only there was some way to deliver exhaust gases to the atmosphere, without putting it into the inlet manifold. Maybe with some kind of metal pipe?
Ha ha ha ha thanks for the comment 😄. Made me laugh 👍💨💨💨

@bolocheweylegyeung7789 I think it could be a full time job sometimes 😅
Ah yes... "Gremlin Tech" 😂 Dan Ustain should understand why truckers are willing to "piss in their tank" over this.
That was nasty
That's what she said 😂. Thanks for the comment 😎

Good luck living in the past.
Please don't bring egr, adblue, dpf and catalytic converters to Africa.
I have got a boatload of them for you buddy 😅🙈 You will spend more time cleaning them than driving them 🤯
