I'm 68 years old. I've been renting since I was 15. Got my mechanic's license when I was 22. I was a long time ago. I listened to a lot of these videos as a refresher and find them interesting. Many of them are just so well done, but I have to say I wish it would leave the darned music out of them. I think if you're serious about the content, it's completely unnecessary. Anyway, this is another very well done one I think. Appreciate them posting it

One question, what if the resistance between high and low speed can becomes crazy moving up to 500 ohms and decending to 50 ohms?

Thanks for the video! I subbed to your channel for the good info ! I spent all day today trying to diagnose a Bobcat tracked skid loader that is having electrical gremlins and it won’t power up the display panel. I traced the problem down to a faulty control/display module. Its always a little stressful calling bad modules when they cost $1500 dollars to replace! But based on everything I seen its gotta be the panel.

I'm working on a project to customize 1996 with a 2017 canbus. I'll be removing some of the canbus devices, but not sure how to get around a device that won't be used anymore. Like the electronic parking brake. But still, I will keep using the manual ebrake. Do I need to loop high w/high etc or how would I terminate the end as in the device did not exist. I will edit it out of the programming as well. Thanks

Hello thanks for a great tutorial. I try to resolve electrical issue on my Passat b6 BMP 2008 DSG car, for a week with no success. Yesterday I take multimeter with me and try to measure 6pin and 14pin from OBD. The result for voltage between 6th pin and ground was 2.5v, pin 14 and ground was 2.5v. I think that not have communication, but this is all of the time. Another test was for resilient. I try 200ohm between pin 6 and pin 14. Result was between 68.1 in most time and 71. I try to remove all positive cables from fuse box near engine and battery, nothing happened with resilient. After that I remove abs plug and again 68.1ohm. Finally I unplug every one cable in engine section and spray it with contact spray, I change fuse box in engine section, change gateway module, after all situation is same. I remember that before mass problem with multiple MILs and going in service mode I have a couple of day, maybe a week MIL alerts for steering.
I change battery with new one and maintain alternator.
P.S All of scannings with diagnostic tools say that I have a impulsible signals, lost communication with different modules and etc.
Please give me advise what to do, because I was in two different car services and nothing happned.

Great video and explanation. But, it all hinges on the troubleshooter having 100% familiarity with the physical routing of cabling inside the vehicle. i.e. where modules are actually located and how does the wiring loom run throughout the vehicle. Most factory wiring diagrams don't usually show that but rather show the wiring in a form of electrical schematic rather than the physical layout. So, it really boils down to personal experience with the vehicle being worked on.

Even when the engine is running there is no signal in the oscilloscope on those pins 🤔

Thank you! The fundamental principles and protocols of the CAN bus system are the same across different types of vehicles, including passenger cars, trucks, buses, and even some non-automotive applications. However, the implementation can vary significantly between automotive applications and trucks, and even among different manufacturers and models. Trucks, especially commercial heavy-duty ones, may have more complex CAN bus networks due to their advanced systems for cargo management, additional safety features, advanced telemetry for fleet management, and other specialised systems not typically found in passenger vehicles. We would always recommend consulting your specific vehicles wiring diagrams and vehicle schematics before conducting any tests and making any conclusions. Hope this helps!

2013 Subaru Forester, Can Bus errors. I have 59 ohms at DLC...unplug the ABS/VDC, and OHM the CAN HI, and Low, and get 119 OHMS. Do I need ABS/VDC harness, plugged into ABS/VDC module to see 59 OHMS? or did unplugging it cause the 119 OHMS? Backprobe access is difficult to access with harness plugged in. Please let me know. Thank you. Subscribed. Well done.

Really great video thanks. I’ve got a RFA module u0001 00-08 error on my Ford fiesta 2014 and an engine ignition light on the dash. Gone through your tests but everything seems ok. The battery though is reading 12.39v across the terminals or the cars internal test reads it as 11.6v. Is it most likely simply a dodgy battery that needs to be replaced? I did get a strange resistance reading from the HS CAN though as it was rotating though numbers eg 35 40 23 with others sometimes flicking in like 77 I saw once and a hundred and something. ?
