    Using this video I found a problem with the ECU cable system that five previous mechanics could not find. Turned out to be a problem with the wire between the main relay and the fuse (the yellow lines at 4:05). Thanks a million :D

    Great video and explanation. I tested my EUC that came with a swap kit for "crank but no start" with your information. After verifying all good grounds, constant 12v, and switched 12v, my EUC failed to pull the constant 12v to ground, allowing the relay to receive a negative signal and switch the relay on and provide power to the other side for boot up.

    thanks for this educative video, my automatic transmission has been slipping while driving in 2nd and 3rd, my mechanic scanned the problem with a diagnostic computer and he said there's no communication between the ECM and TCM, he has advised that I replace the ECM. Can a faulty ECM also cause transmission problems?

    • @Ecutestinglimited
      @Ecutestinglimited  9 месяцев назад

      Hi. Yes a faulty ECM can cause transmission problems like you are describing, especially if there is no communication between it and the TCM. If your mechanic has diagnosed the problem to be the ECM itself and not the can lines between it and the TCM, then it is likely it needs to be rebuilt or replaced. If you would like your ECM to be tested by us to confirm the fault then please email our technical support team at info@ecutesting.com with the following information. Your make and model of vehicle, the part number printed on your ECM, the symptoms of your fault including fault codes, and any attempted fixes/further diagnostic tests you or your mechanic have completed. They will advise your further. Thanks.

    Very good video. Well explained. How to know VCU / ECU is functioning normal.? When connected all device in the CANBUS are good , but there is no way to know ECU is normal or not .

    • @Ecutestinglimited
      @Ecutestinglimited  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi. We're glad you liked the video! Determining if the ECU or VCU are functioning correctly isn't a straight forward process, especially if they are being effected by an intermittent fault. However the easiest way to identify a fault with them would be to scan the vehicle for any fault codes as these will give a description of where the fault could lie. That being said, some faults don't produce any codes, so another way to test the units are functioning normally would be to use live data monitoring to see how the unit is responding to sensor inputs in real time. Hope this helps!

    And thanks for the great professional video😅

    • @Ecutestinglimited
      @Ecutestinglimited  Год назад

      Hi. If you are not getting 12v at 85, then there could be a problem with the wiring from the ECU to contact 85 or with the ECU itself. We would recommend inspecting the wiring and connectors/pins first and then continuity testing the wiring to rule it out. If it checks out OK then the fault will potentially lie with the ECU itself. If you would like to send your unit into us for testing to confirm this, please fill in our online test form at www.ecutesting.com. Thanks.

    • @Ecutestinglimited
      @Ecutestinglimited  Год назад

      Hi. We are glad the video was helpful. Sensors which receive 5 volts are typically low-power sensors which only need 5 volts to operate and generate an output signal. These sensors receive their supply from the ECU which has internal voltage regulators to take the 12v supply from the battery and generate different voltages for other components on the vehicle such as sensors.

    Hi guys, very informative video thanks 😊. I have an intermittent no crank on a A4 B8 CAGA TDI. When the car won't start, the main relay (T30) goes bonkers, clicking in and out. Pin 86 and 30 have constant battery voltage when the T30 relay is doing this clicking, pin 85 (ground switch from ecu) has battery voltage until ignition on and then has 1.04v.... I've been over and over the wiring and I can't find any issue. My question is: Should pin 85 drop to 0v as its ground switched by the ECU? This A4 only drops to 1.04v and there perfect continuity on th8s very short wire from pin 85 to ECU, no voltage drop on that wire either. Would very much appreciate a response from your experience 👍

    • @Ecutestinglimited
      @Ecutestinglimited  Год назад +1

      Hi. We are glad you liked the video. Yes, you are right that pin 85 should drop to 0v with ignition on, so from what you have described it could be a few things. Firstly it could be a faulty relay, have you tried testing/swapping this out to see if it rectifies the fault? If that checks out ok then there could be a short affecting the wire from pin 85. We would recommend disconnecting the ECU connector and testing continuity from terminal 85 and every other terminal on the connector. If there is no continuity, then the last thing to do would be to re-connect the ECU connector and back probe a scope to pin 85 with the ignition on. If the waveform is noisy or the voltage is floating then the ECU is at fault. Hope this helps!

    • @tipptop9
      @tipptop9 Год назад

      Thanks very much for the reply, it is greatly appreciated 😊. I've tried 5 different relays at T30 position, all exibit the same clicking behaviour. Ive also bypassed the wiring by unplugging the relay, I ran battery voltage to pins 86 and 30 of the relay, i backprobed the ecu and ran a new wire from pin 85 of the relay straight to the ecu. Then i connected pin 87 of the relay into its corresponding socket on the car. Still have the same behaviour. Ive just done your other suggestion and tested continuity from pin 85 an the relay socket to every other wire on the ecu plug, then only place i have continuity is where it should be, at pin 85 termination at ecu! I havent the equipment to scope the signal as you suggest, time to try another ecu i think! Thanks again for your help

No check engine light, cranks but no start, no communication, only with airbag. checked 5volt reference, 2.8 volts at mass air which I thought was not pulling down enough to be a grounded sensor but started disconnecting sensors anyway. of course all disconnected voltage came up to 3 volts but did not return to 5. Is the 2.8 volts at THA wire on maf to high to be a grounded circuit or sensor? Also can bus looks hashed.

    our nissan juke has undergone a engine rebuild process due to excessive oil usage. the garage is now telling us the engine has been rebuilt but they cannot test drive vehicle because there is a definite problem with the ecu unit and want to send it off to a specialist for diagnosis, at a cost to ourselves. what will this test tell us and do you think we are being fobbed off. so far works have cost us 3500 pounds on our 66 plate juke with 30 thousand miles on clock. please help. yours truly shaun

    On Hyundai santafe 2014,My check engine light doesn’t come up at all. It doesn’t accelerate when I climb a hill even when the acceleration pedal is completely pressed and the engine does not go off. The fuel consumption is quite enormous as if the fuel is leaking.
    After diagonising, I have a P0365 (Exaust camshaft position sensor(CMP) B circuit fault (Bank 1). The sensor was checked okay. Even changed. After troubleshooting, it was concluded to change the ECU. What do you suggest?

    • @Ecutestinglimited
      @Ecutestinglimited  Год назад

      Hi. We would recommend checking the wiring in the cam sensor circuit before condemning the ECU, as a short or open in this circuit could lead to the symptoms you are describing and the P0365 code. We have a video on how to do this here: ruclips.net/video/FTY11IeWBsk/видео.html. If the wiring checks out OK then it is more than likely the fault is being caused by the ECU. If you would like to send your unit into us for testing to confirm this, please fill in our online test form here: myaccount.ecutesting.com/

    Wow what a really great an informative video. I have a question. I recently just put a rebuilt VR6 in my Volkswagen. Ive had a crank no start/ no spark issue ever since and I haven't even heard the engine run yet unfortunately.
    I connected the laptop with the VCDS and I have no communication with the ECU I checked all spark, fuel and Air lines and power and grounds everything is fully connected they all look good.
    I am getting high resistance at the fuel pump. I do not here the fuel pump turn on. Any ideas what it could be?

    Great info, thank you! - I have a question - can a car be wired up to only work with a specific ECU? - My car (golf 2.0 8V) is in at the auto as we speak - it went in with a 2.0 polocub - but he said it has no spark...the way it was previously wired , meant they took a spark from the one loom, and tapped in creating a separate one (yes i had 2, lol ) -and yes it was starting up before it went in - i was just wondering if he tried to up-sell me. Or Could the previous wiring be wired up to "borrow a spark" ? or cause it to "blow" an ECU? - He sold me a 1.8 ECU...for my 2.0 engine, should i be worried? lol , Thank you

    I`m trying to create a waveform to test a smart alternator. Mitsubishi. I`ve heard the frequency is 90 hertz on a Ford Focus and duty cycle shout be around 37 to 45 percent. I can not find any information anywhere. This is off a Subaru Impreza. I`ll start off using 5 volt square waves and see how I get on.

    Sir, I have a question. Is there a single pin, or a couple of pins that "turn on" the voltage regulator to get it (the alternator) to produce power?
    I'm dealing with a GM CS AD series alternator. I don't have need of anything else other than trying to get the alternator to produce power.
    ANY help you can give would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello wonderfully well explained. You say that the ECU should have a permanent 12V battery connection does that mean that even if the key is off the 12V should be present ? or do you mean that on switching on then 12V should be present ? your answer would be much appreciated

    • @Ecutestinglimited

      Hi. It would depend on the vehicle, but in most cases the 12v feed would be present even with the ignition off. Hope that helps.

      @@boukharitemessek2596 Hi. Are you able to scan the vehicle for any fault codes at all? Without these it would be difficult to accurately diagnose the cause of the fault. If you are able to, please email our technical support team at info@ecutesting.com with the results of the diagnostic scan, the make and model of vehicle, and the details of the fault as you have listed above. Cheers.
