@@marklewis4664Yeah. What this does is it temporarily kills a little battery in the computer that retains memory. Then the computer can relearn the sensors.
A friend gave this a shot and not only did it reset the system as expected, his blinker fluid was also refreshed. Apparently there was also an extra muffler bearing in the exhaust system, because after resetting the entire system, including blinker fluid, a muffler bearing rolled out the tailpipe. Now it only makes 3/4 the noise it made before. Amazing!

Okay I was driving with a bad camshaft position sensor and the signal was so weak that the ECU turn off the fuel and spark. But once I replace the camshaft position sensor the fuel and spark is still off and my car still won't start. I did this and still won't start. You can't turn the fuel and spark back on once it has been turned off. I'm just going to have to replace the spark plugs again and I'm gonna have to replace the fuel pump. Bad camshaft sensor really messed up my car. Now that I have the new camshaft sensor my car still won't start.
@@BryanG830You might have got a bad sensor. I'd take it back and have it replaced. Before I put a new fuel pump in it. Because fuel and spark are both controlled by the computer. Sounds like the computer still isn't getting signal from the cam shaft sensor. And getting bad electronic parts happens all the time. Just a suggestion because I had the same issue with a Toyota Corolla. Replaced the cam sensor a second time and fixed it.
Have a 2003 Trailblazer EXT Northface Edition 195000 miles, 4.2L 4WD. Had an issue come up where I was losing MPG and power, wouldn't stay on cruise control. Took it to a mechanic in another town because it broke down on the highway, spent $80 for a sensor, no joy. Replaced battery, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and had oil changed; still no joy. Towed it to my long time mechanic ($180 for 40 miles), learned catalytic converter was full. Had it replaced. Still not right. Seafoamed it in gas tank and cleaned throttle body, still engine stuttering and bad mileage. Watched this video, replaced plugs with Bosch plugs and followed directions to clear ECU memory. Took it out and drove it, 45MPH on cruise without any stuttering; 70 MPH, no stuttering; 55 MPH no stuttering and fuel economy is back to normal. Problem seems to be gone! If it is, saved me buying another ECU and having it programmed, probably $800 or more. Thank you!!!!
Always check if you can do this with your year/make/model. This has been a common thing to clear the KeepAlive memory, except for '96 Fords. '96 was their first year of OBDII. Doing this on that year, maybe '97 and '98 as I can't remember when they implemented the fix, will instantly fry the KeepAlive circuit thus needing an ECU replacement. They fixed the issue eventually in later years. As always, proceed at your own risk.

I see alotta people reaching out, I feel like the interior of the truck looked Similar, just not sure if it'll help this issue, please 💯
On a modern car this could possible cause power spike in the capacitor causing more issue or even new issues including a fried ecu. You should always use a resistor inline between the negative and positive cables. 1ohm 10w resistor should take roughly 15min . You can use higher resistor but Higher resistors wil need to be connected longer

Awesome video 🙏🏽 I’ve ordered a remanufactured BMC flashed to my vin twice, and both times got a no start. I’ll probably have to perform this process to get it going, but now I’m wondering what will happen if I reset my original BCM 🤔 I’ve had my truck for 2 years and the horn never worked, and the same with the A/C. Recently the third brake light stopped working Since last summer my CEL would flash after about 3K rpms, it started idling rough, and had all types of codes. Replaced everything, cleaned all grounds, and now I’m down to the BCM, but I’m really wondering if this step will cure it of the random codes, cel flashing and everything else. THANKS!!!

Thanks good video. I was told to start the truck put the transmission in low or 1st gear for 3 minutes and 2nd then drive and reverse. Does it make a difference ?
Yeah. There’s a ridiculous number of relearn processes out there. Some work. Some don’t. It is highly dependent on the year and if it has an electronic throttle body or cable.
Sir, my car has already started manufacturing,1,2,3 ignition coil is working fine, but ignition coil 4 is not supplying current, will the help of your teaching, solve my car problem.
Great video but Eid you have push button start like I do? I have a 2011 SRX that codes leading up to the timing belt won’t turn off, everything has been replaced including the timing belt. I don’t know if this would work but I’m desperate here.
I had a similar issue are the Dodge ram that the gas gauge and gauge is went nuts and it has a process to apparently these new cars have process is built into the ignition switch and they’re probably like Dealer fix all the items that they don’t give out those secrets, but this is obviously one of them because I followed another videos instructions for the Save guy to take and I was shocked that things were resetting everything was fine then. My friends car just blew this out of the eve vapp sensor and now it’s not going in and out and I think her problem was the main ground strap from the engine into the frame broke so this is how these things start bad connections you always want to make sure you clean everything anytime you’re working on any electrical stuff use the electrical connection grease if you have to to get a good ground. A broken ground out of gas take wire could really affect the gauge on Fords. I’ve had several that were the ground breaks it reads 3/4 of a tank of gas.
Almost all the calibrations in the Engine Control Module are written to the EEPROM meaning it has to be electronically erased. This is done with a scan tool. Clean the battery terminals with a small wire brush, a mix or paste of baking soda & water and use an old tooth brush. It is a chemical reaction between an acid and alkaline. Even a cola has citric acid so it can works on Cooper oxide, the part the turns green. Have the battery tested at you parts store. If you have / buy a digital volt ohm meter, then when running check the voltage level at the alt and move ground around to the fender, frame, block and battery negative. You are looking for a loss. Loss means a dirty, loose or corroded connection or broken. Remember that alternators produce the negative current off the back housing. 99% of the times, there is a threaded shallow hole on the back that allows a 10 gage or larger 6 gage wire & eyelets the from the alternator to the block, cylinder head or intake lowering resistance to the battery. Using "Star Washers" sold at home improvement stores sell internal & internal star washer that are effective on rusty, galvanized, painted or undercoating. But checking for voltage drop is alway done with engine on, lights, heater on high, wipers, stereo, just current flowing thru an active circuit to check. It works every time. An Engine Control Modular's had to sent out for basic reprogramming be it used or update to a restoration. Visit LT1Swap website because Brendan has a lot of offer as extremely reasonable prices. I was also skeptical AND... it didn't work for me. 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 with the "Service Shifter" (it's the ZF 8 speed pile of garbage electronic trans) coming up on my dash and with DTC U1467 and P1DF3. Replaced my shifter, left battery unplugged for DAYS and also did this "little trick" for hours and still will not shift into drive or anything. Thanks for the effort, works for some I guess.

Hi, I just watched your video and got me wondering if this could help me. I own a 2017 ford explorer sport. My lights were left on and drained my battery. I received a jump however noticed from that point my gas mileage average went down drastically. I use to get 19 - 23 miles per gallon. Now I get 10 - 12.5 per gallon. Now they are saying that the gas issue should be solved if I ok them to do a PCM, BCM, and IPC factory reset which is not covered under warranty and will cost close to $600. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Amazing!

Those muffler bearings are a bitch
Blinker fluid and muffler bearings? Why do you want to mess with ppl

I took my car in garage after ignition switch and starter. I bought the reconditioned and programmed ECM from Flagstaff -- a company from New York ( priced at $176, but with exchange and shipping = $384)!!!
I'm a dyi'er beyond my skill set.
I took it to my mechanic who had a scanner, diagnostic technical knowhow, etc.

@@BryanG830 Try replacing your MAF sensor with a known good one.
Very cool. Congrats! And what a headache!
This was a big help for my 07 Expedition. TCM was acting up and a reset did the trick. Thank you for the video!
Thanks so much for sharing this method. I will perform thess same steps after replacing my throttle body.

@@michaelgallo2723 ppl never put their end results for us all to share. Sad, but true. Hope you fixed your issue.
As always, proceed at your own risk.

as you said that more complicated cars you cannot dissconnect the battery, my question is don't they always dissconnet the battery on every vehicle when they weld the car to protect the battery, I am no pro at this but I am wondering how this works.
Thanks!! Worked perfectly with a 2014 KIA Sorento!
I've done this before and I think it really works,I have a 2001 vw Jetta by the way 👍👍

A little advice please 08 Chevy express 2500 w/4.8 V8, cleaned the throttle body, I didn't realize what was gonna happen, ya think your method will get my idle back where it belongs?? I see alotta people reaching out, I feel like the interior of the truck looked Similar, just not sure if it'll help this issue, please 💯
On a modern car this could possible cause power spike in the capacitor causing more issue or even new issues including a fried ecu. You should always use a resistor inline between the negative and positive cables. 1ohm 10w resistor should take roughly 15min . You can use higher resistor but Higher resistors wil need to be connected longer

Awesome video 🙏🏽
I’ve ordered a remanufactured BMC flashed to my vin twice, and both times got a no start. I’ll probably have to perform this process to get it going, but now I’m wondering what will happen if I reset my original BCM 🤔
I’ve had my truck for 2 years and the horn never worked, and the same with the A/C. Recently the third brake light stopped working
Since last summer my CEL would flash after about 3K rpms, it started idling rough, and had all types of codes.
Replaced everything, cleaned all grounds, and now I’m down to the BCM, but I’m really wondering if this step will cure it of the random codes, cel flashing and everything else.
THANKS!!!
I tried this out of desperation on an 05 Grand Cherokee that was shifting erratically. It worked so Im assuming its the tcm

Does this affect Recalibration done on the ECU?
DK, Omaha.
