I had a problem with my Mazda CX5 . The car suddenly stopped starting on occasion, with no apparent reason. The battery was good and the key fob also worked fine. When the car didn’t start sometimes the dashboard acted up like a Christmas tree. Several mechanics looked at the car and couldn’t fix it. Then I found in RUclips a video with similar problems and was advised to disconnect the battery for about half an hour, connect it again and with the key fob close and open the car once. Then start the car. It worked perfectly. Since I did this trick the car has started every time without a problem. It seemed to be a reset and the problem was probably that one day I left the car on with the door closed for to long and the car turned of automatically after a certain time period. That was the when the starting problems began and got worse over time. Now I know how the resolve this.
I just watched a video from scotty kilmer saying that you actually need a resistor inbetween there to slow down the rate of discharge because discharging a module can damage the sensitive components by causing a surge of power to be released from the capacitors or something. IDK ive never had a problem doing this and i did it on my VW Jetta once.
We were always taught to connect the positive terminal first for safety reasons because if you connect negative first then second positive terminal the spanner or ratchet could short circuit to battery bracket or other earth even a newly charge battery could explode due to gas fumes or even the spanner has been known to weld itself to ground/earth!
My CD player stopped working in my 2005 Dodge Dakota, it wouldn’t spit out the CD. I was just beginning a long road trip, San Diego to Houston, 1,500 miles, and was looking forward to listening to an audiobook about the life of Abraham Lincoln. I tried everything to get the CD out of there even including using needle nose pliers! Nothing worked. Bummer. Months later I had to replace two oxygen sensors in my catalytic converters which required unhooking the negative battery cable. After replacing them I hooked the negative cable up again and it immediately spit out the CD and it has been working just fine ever since! It just needed to be reset.
wait a second: when removing battery leads the correct way i learned is first neg then pos and when repositioning first pos than neg. Have I been taught wrong??
The procedure is wrong. Under no circumstances should you bridge the + and - cables! In the worst case scenario, this will destroy the engine control unit! Disconnecting the ground cable is sufficient. Then turn on the light switch to let the residual current flow away more quickly. After one night, turn off the light switch again and connect the ground cable. Stop the engine and do not accelerate. Let it stand for 5 minutes, while definitely not stepping on the gas! Then drive 70-80km (city, country, highway) so that the control unit relearns all driving conditions. Complete.

For all you people asking what do I do with the other end of the jumper. Look this isn't rocket science! If you're using jumper cables you will have a red and a black claw like clamp on each end of the jumper cables. So just use the red side of the jumper cable hook one end to the negative battery cable and the other end to the positive.
Yes, I spotted that right away! It's like a never-ending circuit with the single cable connected to positive and negative cables. Never would I have thought of this! However, I have always connected the positive cable first to the battery and then the negative. Had a battery explode one time and don't care to do THAT ONE again!

sometimes the car has a problem and adjusts itself because of said problem (you get an error code and maybe a light on the dash) and runs poor because of it. bad coolant. old oil. old gas or diesel. bad fuel filter. bad air intake. bad sensor. bad pump. then you go fix or maybe just clean it and it still runs poor because the car didn't adjust itself back. by resetting it you basically start with the factory settings. it doesn't "fix" it but it's like retraining memory or restarting a computer. sometimes it just need a fresh new start and if it goes back to running like shit then you need to look at it again.

There is so many things wrong with this video, not sure if it’s a skit or is this truly how they do things in Australia or Sweden or wherever he is.
Here in the states, we do things a bit more…. correctly…..
Not to mention, there wasn’t a bit of difference from before and after he tried his nonsense damaging behavior…. Too many scones if you ask me
