I like fast moving videos. I can pause. Does the steering box have to be removed or the engine mount loosened and jacked up? Can’t remember. Still thinking about pulling all the covers and plugs etc off mine and flushing the heck out of it. Is the fuel shutoff cover area common to the worm gear/cover? Seems like a bad place to have dirt which would call for a complete removal and tear down.

You can remove the entire pump or the shutoff cover without doing anything extra. You cannot remove the steering box cover without removing the injection pump or lifting the engine.

Hey man what’s the best way to pull the gear off of the front of the pump? My pump is still in the truck. The only way I see to get anything in there is by pulling the radiator is that the case? Do you know of a better way?

Have lots of question, i have work on trucks for years but nothing to technical. My friend was bringing a 1971 5 ton with a continental LDS465-1. There was fuel in the oil and i was told it was the injection pump. I watched a few of your videos. from what i understand I need to set the timing marks Balancer on the first mark, top window with the white mark and the side mark with the red mark. Is there other ways to get fuel in the oil? So do i have to pull the power steering unit to pull the injection pump drive gear off to remove the pump? Where can I purchase parts Radiator top mount and 2 on bottom is wasted. still trying to free up injection line at pump, lines seam to be seized up and wont swivel.

You don't need to remove the pump from the engine. Just make sure that the red marked gear tooth is aligned with the pointer and you can see the mark in the top window somewhere ( this one won't ever be lined up when the other mark is, you just need to be able to see it.) then pull the hydraulic head off.

one of the 4 hold down bolts for the hydraulic pump is broke off, I think I will have to remove the pump to be able to extract the broken bolt. if that is the case will I have to remove the power steering the remove the drivegearto remove injection pump?

@TacticalRepair - who would you recommend to rebuild one of these injector pumps?

I can't make a recommendation anymore. Basically anyone who will take the job. Most injection shops won't touch them anymore.
