Hard to believe that DAF is owned by PACCAR (Peterbilt and Kenworth in the USA). Wish they were available over here in the States. Looks like a really nice event.
Yes. The European companies are far ahead in presentation of new vehicles involving everyone from dealers, mechanics, fleet operators and their staff including the all important driver. 👍🏴🇺🇸
@@svenhvr Have you driven them? They are used in long distance haulage throughout Europe, at heavier GVW and handle, drive and ride much better than conventional’s. The sleeper cabs are the same size as ours.
@@pauljohn6637 First of all, I'm not from the US. I've worked for a transport company before and I have relatives who used to drive trucks throughout Europe. Well first the reason the US has a federal 36 ton (80000 lbs) weightlimit is because the roads aren't thick as in many european countries. Talking about heavy and long distance haulage why didn't you mention Canada and Australia where they use american trucks: Canada has basically a 45.5 ton weight limit but it can me more in several provinces, Australia can go up to 200 tons and both countries are allowed to drive 100 km/h (62 mph) for trucks and in some canadian provinces even 110 or 120 km/h. But talking about the trucks, the space inside is small compared to an american truck and the bed is right behind the driver's seat, which is fine if you drive in it daily but not for long distance haulage where you have to spent weeks in other countries. Besides that, trucking in Europe is terrible in generally, you have a max speed of 80-90 km/h (50-56 mph) max. driving hours is 9 hours (twice a week 10) while in the US the federal hours of service is 11 hours and you are allowed to go between 65-80 mph (105-129 km/h) depends on the state. And the services for truckdrivers are also horrible here in Europe in generally.

it is interesting to listen to your arguments for needing more than 530hp for 36t/44t. my daily truck is a Scania R490 and here in Norway we are allowed to gross up to 50t and with a longer set 60t. sure i wish some times i had a R580, but even doing mountain crossing at 50t i have never felt it being too under powered.

The hidden midlift axle is something that would be very popular on toll roads here in the U.S. Many toll roads charge by axle # for commercial trucks. A hidden axle would make your toll about 25% less when you have light loads that don't require a 5th axle on the ground. BTW, any chance of you coming to America to try our trucks out? Maybe a company that is in both markets, like Volvo, or maybe Mack or Paccar? I'd love to see your comments on a long-nose truck pulling a 57' trailer!
53 ft trailer is standard, it would make more sense to pull what we all do. 57ft trailers need permits and are more specialized. I ran them on a dedicated contract here in Florida. Limited use really. Not aware if used widely in any State, can’t be used on interstate commerce as far as I’m aware.
