Haha ya you can fuse some crazy things. I realized you could fuse to your shield after I accidentally fused a knights shield with a knights shield lol.
All normal unfused shields can ride on rails like a cart. All mobility shield fusions can grind as well. I bought this game to play a zelda title but aparently I got Tony Hawks: Dark Underground Hyrule Wasteland and I'm loving every second of it.
Extra tips:
1. Try Rocket Shield Surfing, you will be amazed.
2. Puffshroom smoke screen not only let you run away, but you can also sneakstrike the enemy.
It also works for grinding
Rocket Shield Surfing is sadly too expensive to be practical because the rockets vanish so fast.
In low gravity areas, though, that changes...
enemies that are frozen are considered 'wet'. If you freeze an enemy with an ice shield and then whack them with an electric weapon, they will take extra damage.
Fire too, it does with fire arrows so fire weapon would probably as well

Speaking of fire and electricity, your comment reminded me, in botw, lava conducts electricity. As in, if you shoot a shock arrow at lava it'll make an aoe effect around it. My guess is because they programmed it like water and forgot to remove that when making lava. Idk!
I haven't got to death mountain to test it myself yet, so idk if this is true of totk as well, but give it a try sometime. I imagine with totk abilities you can use it to make some really good traps for enemies.

What most people miss with the Ruby and Sapphire gems is that it increases and decreases Link's body temperature respectively. What this means is the player can wear one less weather-resistant armor while a shield is fused with one of these gems.
An Igneo or Frost talus heart works just as well.
Not just on the shield, Putting one of em on a weapon also gives off warmth/coolness! I personally keep a Ruby Rod and Sapphire Rod on me so I can shield surf
EXTRA TIP: Rubies and Saphires also help you in Cold and Hot areas respectively. It saves you the need to change clothes. Best to use these in Gerudo.

I literally had to waste my entire chuchu jelly stash to get to gerudo town and then the great fairy
(If you throw a chuchu jelly on yourself your temperature is gonna decrease for a good few seconds)
Yeah, I noticed this too. I had a weapon with Ruby on it and it saved my butt when I was in rito village

The puff shroom goes insanely well with the korok sword! You get a smoke screen whenever you want and can sneak attack whole groups of enemies
where do you find korok swords/spears? i cant find any

Homing Carts fused onto shields basically give you battery-powered shield surfing. It will keep going as long as you have battery.
Octo Balloons fused onto shields will cause you to float up. It's floatier than a rocket, won't get you as high up, but it's fun.
My favourite shield fusion for combat is a mirror. As long as it's light outside, the light-beam reflected by a Mirror Shield will stun enemies as if you'd thrown a Dazzle Fruit at them.
A note to have, if you feed a sword bow or shield to a rock octorock theyll fully repair whatever you feed it. Ive upgraded my hylian shield to durability+ just using those and its my skateboard now. Some things wont repair like the dusk bow or amiibo weappns but if youve got a weapon you favor its great to have. Good spot for this is the minecart rail circle around the near top of the volcano.

@@grantlawrence4600 no, octoroks. They're in eldin too and will spit fireballs at you after vacuuming in a spiral of air like vortex. They have a rock on their head and only show up in the eldin region

The rocket is a great replacement for revali's gale! I love it!
Also is you make a campfire and throw a pinecone at it, it creates a huge updraft

@G Carnes The Pinecone method is practically the only way to enter Rito Village unless you have cold resistant clothes to get to a higher peak to glide.

Fun Fact: Star Fragments count as gems whem used with the Magic Rod and Magic Staff, and they fire slow moving light orbs that are not affected by gravity! The Gloom Hands, and the following Phantom Ganon, are weak to Light damage as well, so Star Fragments are INSANELY useful if you know how to farm them.

@PhillyBeatzU Try it for yourself! I found this out when I was experimenting with weapon fusions. It started with me accidentally selecting a Star Fragment as an arrow tip. Then when I saw that it essentially made what I thought was a Light Arrow (coincidentally I was using the Dusk Bow at the time), I tried it with my Magic Scepter next, and was pleasantly surprised! Feel free to add this to that weapons video idea!

@@invertedghostgames9899 I tried this with a star scepter against the gloom hands, but it just phased past them? I guess it enhances an actual weapon vs them only?
... a few days later I have tested and they do nothing to gloom spawn.
If you fuse a Talos heart to a shield you can use it to break rocks and ore deposits with a parry. Pretty sure it works with other blunt objects.
AHH good idea. I never thought of that.
I just fuse boulders or stones to my shield and it works just fine on one parry hit
TALOS HEARTS ALSO AUTOMATICALLY DEFLECT PROJECTILES WITHOUT A PARRY
Behind Rijus throne, there is a sand seal statue thing. I fused it to a shield at it was super fun. It also breaks things.
I had a ICE GOLEM heart on my hylean shield *it vanished at my next load file* it’s the only one that does that ( rare and normal talos are ok )
Best uses for your shields are to ignore all zonai items, even carts, because there are better options for basically everything they can do. Like want something better than a cart? Freeze raw meat and slap it on. Yes really. Ores are better than the emitters and don't have durability to damage; they last until the shield is done. Also if you want to use Puffshroom/Muddlebud you should go purify the Deku Tree and then reach the top to get the Forest Dweller weapons and shield. Oh, and bomb flowers will do the same thing as time bombs for surfing while being considerably easier to farm.
I love useing meat to grind down slopes
If your fused shield is about to die and it has a valuable on it (gem, talus heart, etc), pop it off in tarry town for 20 rups before it breaks and you can then fuse the item on a new shield!
how do you know when the fused item is going to break? whenever I use one it always breaks before my weapon. 😫
Frost Emitter to a shield is the best alternative to stasis+ on an enemy.

You missed something very important about fusing Rubies and Sapphires: They adjust Link's body temp, just like Elemental Weapons did in BotW. Want to go hunting Bears and Moose so you can actually afford the Snow Quill outfit? Slap a Ruby on your shield, pull up your Archaic Warm Greaves, and head out there. Getting ready to explore the desert? Sapphire shields will be a good start.
Conversely, going into a Tier 1 Cold area with a Sapphire Shield will drop Link's Temperature Gauge into Tier 2 Cold. Same with Rubies in the desert. Keep this in mind.
The fact they give the gems these elemental powers reminds me of Pokemon Gen 3 (Ruby and Sapphire... shame that electric is topaz and not emerald)

I think Nintendo did a small Mario Galaxy reference. Whenever you're skydiving, if a star dragment is near you, it will slightly curve towards you and follow where you go, just like star bits did whenever Mario used a Launch Star.

Shield surfing out of a glide with the flame shield makes a downward flame that also burns grass so that you keep gliding and shoot flames down on enemies

Little tip for if anyone needing easier topaz ruby etc, before you break a rare ore node, save the game. Then break the ore node. Didnt get what you needed? Reload the game and the loot will be different in the ore node. Very good for getting diamonds to!

@@brokenwave6125 How so? Well you could also sell a ton of monster materials. Lynel hoof for example, 50 rupee per hoof and lynels drop plenty of them 🙂
*Big Tip*
Fuse a Iron box to youre Shield.
When Enemys surround you drop it and hit it with youre Elemental Weapon, like a sword.
It does a bif AOE Electro Attack and hits everything around you

The fuse ability is what pushed me into actually wanting to get this game and these options don't disappoint. Hopefully Nintendo sees how much fusion adds to a game and they implement it in the next Pokemon game lol

My favorite is a rocket on the shield. Taking something and moving it up, rewinding time climbing or phasing through it and then rocket boosting up

Disagree on star fragments, these are pretty rare and better off using on upgrading your armor instead of just as a light source.
For a video focused on shield uses, it’s informative. Not a video that you should do this.
In the end, to each their own.
Also there is a light zonai device that does the same thing
@@gracecairns9747 zonai devices use power and wear out the shield. The same cannot be said of a star fragment. If youve got em to spare it seems like a good investment for exploring the depths
I was super disappointed when I put a star frag on a wand. I thought it was shooting magic missiles but it was just light.

I found if you use the muddlebud on two guys, they will fight everyone else in a crowd and then fight each other if they live. It was amazing

I honestly like putting the star fragment and other nice looking things like the dragon shards on my shields for aesthetics.
there are times where the cart won't cut it for shield surfing, such as sand and deep snowy areas, so the sled can be used as a replacement for a cart in terrains you'd sink in

It's really easy to throw bright blooms on to stuff as well i'm surprised people don't use them that often if i wanna be specific about the location i want brite bloom to end up I fuse it with an arrow.

Note that for the cannon shield, there is a spot somewhere in hyrule where there are a group of constructs holding a cannon shield.

I managed to figure out the bomb fusion after running into a battle Talus I had no good way to climb on. It might just be my favorite so far.

giant brighblooms>star fragments. star fragments are rare and needed to upgrade armor, don't use them on the shield.
i wish you'd also mentioned as well that with the ruby on your shield will warm you up in cold areas just by having it equipped which leaves you free to use whatever armor you want in the cold areas, i assume the same is true for the sapphire in hot areas being the polar opposite of ruby.
theres a shrine i didnt complete yet with stakes and a rotating platform,, but picked up a metal plate had fused it to a shield out of interest, i think it may use as a flame guard.. cause it covers quite a bit of area when triggered.
This is off topic but I love fusing blue lisalfos horns and other items similar to it to swords without "handles" to make it look like a katana.
You can activate all emmiters and then just ultrahand it to achieve the same affect but the emitter won't break

if you fuse an Opal to a shield, will make a water (wet) shield, and if you use an electric weapon (electric keese eye, electric lizalfos) will make them wet(shield) and they will suffer extra damage from the electric weapon
this also work when You freeze them
I'm actually curious if you can bait bears by putting honey on your shields. If it can attract them and spawn a lot of them it would be the easiest and possibly the fastest rupee farm because cooking their gourmet meat sells for 350 (I think).
Hm i think that one lynel elixir sold for 2k rupees
If you fight a Boko riding a bear, you can kill the bear without killing the Boko, pick up the meat, save and reload, and the Boko will have a new bear.

Use Korok shields with the plant fusions, they're permanent rather than single use.

I should have thrown a Puffshroom ages ago!!! I had no ideal they were smoke bombs!
Side note: a lot of the zonai "emitter" fusions are typically better off being activated and just shaking them around with Ultrahand--that way you don't use any of your shield durability!
Just use disposable shields. There’s are even certain zonai shields that work better with zonai device
If you fuse a canon to a spear you can use the canon by pressing the throw weapon button.

i use a shield with a big rock or any hammer horn to mine ore deposits when i cant spare a weapon for it. usually a light dragon fragment so i can also regen some heart

dazzle fruits are very good but it changes the enemy's attack pattern which can be confusing but they are still very good on high level enemies with like one-shot weapons
I love this games combat so much.
Fun fact: rocket shields can also be used to shield surf. Super nice when traversing the desert.
Bomb flowers are a super cheap boost, I also always have a cart on my hylian sheild for indefinite surfing, also armor to boost a sheild defense is great to have, I never use my sheild for attacking, mostly mobility

I fuse zonai wings to my shield when I farm Lynels or when I need to do bullet time but don't need to fly that high up. You jump, shield surf, then paraglide into bullet time. I like it better than using a bomb, octorok bubble, rocket, or a spring because those items disappear after one use.

Ruby and saphire shields are great for cold/hot regions, they act like one armour or food bonus. just wear the shield don't use it. Ruby shields are also great for melting ice.
The molduga theme also yoes really hard in case you haven't gone over that one yet
When I have a weapon that is about to break, I like to re-fuse them with yellow or red chu jelly and yeeting them for AoE too lol.
If not done, I suggest do a zonai mirror fuse

I have used the Luminite Talus Heart on a shield to have some glow. =]
Another way to use the puffshroom is to throw them at enemies, get behind them and do a sneak attack. It does more damage and doesn’t use your weapon as much.
Puffshroom also gives you a free stealth attack on affected enemies
imma be using the zonai bomb and the minecart i tried to get a tower that had a lot of rocks blocking the path and i ran out of bomb flowers and used a time bomb but it didnt work because it rolled right towards me so i jammed my last explosive (another time bomb) between 2 rocks and hoped i didnt just screw myself not even thinking to fuse it to a shield so it would stay in place

The canon works better with fused with a spear as you can aim it. The dazzle fruit is op agaisnt undead enemies (minus the hinox) as it instantly kills them.

Diiiiiiid you know you can also do rocket shield for mid air frontal impulse? Granted it can only be done when in high altitudes.
Quick notes, you can fully repair the durability and add a buff to any of your melee weapons, bows, shields
You can also duplicate them and anything you have attached super easily in like 30 seconds. So like, you could have a full set of Hylian Shields with dragon material attached to them, for example
Because of how the dragons flight pattern is, it makes farming for the material much easier.
You can dupe 1 weapon, bow, and shield at the same time, which is pretty cool
1 question if anyone has tried it earlier. if i fuse 2 shields, will its durability increase/double? like, fusing 2 royal guard shields (or fusing 2 hylian shields)
