This video contains gameplay from The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom for the Nintendo Switch in HD. Today I live commentate while attempting to collect EVERY Lightroot in TotK! In the depths, there are 120 Lightroots that light up the area and unlock your depths map. You also get a reward for collecting them all but I've heard it is not very good and not worth it. I even had people tell me NOT to get every Lightroot because it's a waste of time. But is it? Today we find out by getting all the Lightroots and seeing what that reward is! From flying around with the hoverbike, finding hidden chasms, locating Master Kohga, and completing labyrinths, these are some of the best and funniest moments I had exploring the depths in Tears of the Kingdom. Hot tip, you could have attached sapphires to your bike for the heat, had that failed, your shield/Sword.
Hestu's Gift seems more useful thought at least you can get him to dance with it.
Finding all the caves is way worse, finding lightroots was actually fun imo but if you find 119 and can't see the dark area on the map it's actual emotional damage

I was like that for days and and just randomly noticed looking for froxes
The last one I found was in a tiny area not far from the fire temple. It wasn't hard because I already found the temple
I took days finding one near the castle 😅
You can use the shrines on the surface to see where the missing lightroots are if you have any. I know this because each lightroot in the depths corresponds to a shrine on the surface (their names are even reversed to reflect that).
I found it useful because you can find all of the shrines a whole lot faster.

I was just about to say this. It's worth doing for that reason alone.
My only problem was the underground shrines that are in caves had to find the cave entrance first
Personally I like the dragon method. I hop on a dragon, bring a few rocket shields, ride on the dragons while their in the depths, get the lightroots there path is on, hoverbike/rocket shield back to the dragon, and you get the dragon parts too.

The point of the light roots is to find the surface level shrines easier. Each light root is easier to find and has a corresponding shrine above it. All of the 'I got all task' rewards kinda suck.

If you want to hunt lynels here’s a tip all lynels are under stables btw Tabatha bridge stable doesn’t count or the mini stables

6:47 after 30 minutes, the Zonai devices disappear
The depths labyrinths aren't so much labyrinths as they are just, get to the lower floor and fight the flux construct. Then when it's gone there's one final hand ring thingy that'll reveal your reward.
After the boss is gone the doors will open to get outside the labyrinth, and that's how you're supposed to get that lightroot.
oh dang so using ascend kinda let me skip the boss 😂 I did go back and defeat the construct later for the other reward tho
I loved doing the lightroots so damn much. Except for like four of them. I had to look up how to do the one just east of the castle. That's it xD
haha glad I wasn't the only one who struggled to find that one. Definitely the hardest one to find for me

As far as i understand its actually the opposite the shrines collect light and spread it to the depths

I hadn't played a Zelda game since Windwaker and I had a ton of fun finding all the light roots and filling out the map, that was like 2 days "working from home" and just exploring the world

There are only 120 light roots because there are only 120 shrines on the surface. The other thirty shrines in the sky do not have corresponding light roots.
When I got all the light roots it’s wasn’t very good felling but it alowed me to find all 120 on the surface
yeah it definitely is useful for finding all the shrines!
The best thing is knowing where all the shrines are because every lightroot is under a shrine, and the name of the light root is the name of the shrine reversed

the reward you get is easy fast travel access to mines and old map locations, easy access to 120 shrines and a fully lit up depths
Use Sidons ability on the hover bike it covers most of the heat and your hearts go down slowly
yup I did that but unfortunately his ability doesn't last very long
I read somewhere once that with that "sticker" you get that if you would do a new game + you would not have to do all roots again. But since I never tried I dunno if that's remotely true xD

First of all imo the reward is the map and the teleport locstions second of all i love the banjo and kazooie music! Favorite gane as a child
I played banjo for the first time last year and it was a lot of fun!
it gives a glowing brightbloom shaped buttplug, which goes really well with the fursuit for all shrines >:3
also i think the lightroots are stealing the light from the shrines of light

There's 120 light roots. No there are no roots bellow sky shrines. It's plenty fun finding them all. Also, swith the map to the surface map, that way you can easily see bodies of water which = unpassable walls below the surface.

I already got all of them already... Just a few days ago and I must admit I am disappointed in the reward we get... It would've been amazing if it was actually a usable item like what you get for finding all the shrines, it's actually usable and cool
Agreed! This is more similar to the reward you got for getting all the korok seeds. But to be fair, getting the lightroots is a lot easier than the korok seeds so that's even worse lol

I never cared about the Medal, I only cared about the fast travel points and that I could finally *SEE*
haha yeah thats pretty much the main reason why I wanted to get them all. Plus just the satisfaction that comes with it
A hoverbike is game changerrrr. Why have i never made that lol 😂
haha the hoverbike is one of the most popular vehicles. I've seen so many videos about it and had so many people tell me to make it and it really is that good.
I am not sure how the hoverbike will respond to this, I use a 4 fan vehicle with the front 2 fans seperated from the back 2 with a travellers spear as a spine then the stering stick attached to the spear at the front. This vehicle is very maneuvarable, can carry koroks, act as a boat that you can stop, shoot from, then carry on either boating or fly away, it can move the travelling musicians to the fairy etc. In any case, in the depths I attach either a travellers spear or some other spear or thin club to the rear of the vehicle, vertically, and then attach a lightbloom to both the front of my vehicle for moving around in the dark and one to the tall 'post' in the back which acts as a beacon if I get far away from it or it gets lost in the grass around a lightroot. Oh, just one other ting, If you're committed to the hoverbike you can shoot a brightbloom directly on to the steering stick, pointing upwards, and still ride the bike no problem. When you do this remember to place the bike facing forward against a tree or wall or whatever to prevent the bike flying off when you hit it with the brightbloom/arrow

You can cook meals with prime/gourmet meat with durian or anything heart and sell them to make mad rupees go to snowfield hebra and hunt..😂❤ or always keep a max flameproof elixir on had just in case.. I always keep at least 2 of each elixir just in case of a side quest or emergency.😂
when I cook food I normally just throw everything in the pot and hope for the best 😂

Getting lightroots make it so much easier to find the shrines because it’s easier to find lightroots than shrines and they’re linked, so in theory the only shrines you need to find are the 30 sky shrines.

Re your remark about not finding all the shrines in a Year. I am what you would call the consumate grinder/farmer. I'll spend Weeks in one small area to buff up my supply of One or more items. It takes a lot of patience but that's the way I play all games. Other gamer friends, especially real-world friends, think I'm nuts to just do the same thing over and over and over again but the trade-off is that I collect a TON of merchandise that I can use later on. So, that said, carry on MrNiceguy, if it takes you a Year to get all the shrines keep in mind that your old friend M will probably still be picking pumpkins somewhere.. Cheers.
lol thanks! The big thing that slows me down is that i'm making videos on this game. So I only get to make a couple hours of progress a week and then I gotta edit together a video about it haha

Sheeeeeeesh mistor nice guy, I would never get that much depts map, and to use your hover bike for that long to despawn it is crazy. Like I would have already lost my hoover bike and be on my 4th bike at that point (6:46). Bravo! 8:24 - You cant be doing that mistor nice guy!! Did you learn anything in school lol

i think a better reward for completing the map of the abyss would have been some sort of upgrade to brightblooms or maybe an infinite supply, or both. as usual, nintendo takes the lazy way out and misses an opportunity.

Thinking about it makes me kind of sad. We have been conditioned to view completion of work as a reward rather than the reception of a prize or something of value.
true in videogames they tend to give out rewards for completing things as a way to keep the player entertained. But it doesn't always work that way in real life

Same. However I think having one dark area for as long as possible makes for some potentially good sheikah slate pictures if you're into that. For example I took a photo of the twilight bow and the compendium photo looks quite cool.

Unless they make a good enough DLC, I'm not updating from version 1.1.1, because the jump dupe glitch is the only way I'm upgrading some of my armor sets.😅 Namely, anything that uses insects, frogs, and lizards, because farming them is a chore I'm not dealing with. Also, bombs and fragile stuff (milk, oil, and Goron Spice). There's a sky island with low gravity and a small shallow pond with frogs that's perfect for duping bombs and other fragile items without damaging my shields (they don't break and the bombs don't blow up if they land in shin deep water), and the low grav gives me a little more air time to pull off the dupe.
I didn't want to cheat and do any glitches until after I beat the game

yeah the korok poop for getting all the korok seeds was pretty disappointing lol but honestly if they gave a really good reward for getting EVERY korok seed, I would probably be mad that you had to do so much work to get it 😂

yeah I could have sold stuff for money but I had an issue with my switch crashing on me when I fast traveled. So I did not want to risk that happening

The rewards for completing all of something is one of this game's major failures. You get a golden turd for completing the Koroks and you get a cloth for your glider for most of the other rewards. Basically, a whole lot of worthless stuff that adds nothing to the game.
yeah for sure. Only times you get actually good rewards is when doing main story stuff basically
