    Great comparison! Damn man those are some of the best groups I've seen yet and with a 300BLK round that's really cool! Great shooting on your part and I really like the in depth target review and speaking your mind about what happened. Format is great Johnny I really dig the channel

      That was definitely the best target I've ever shot with 300 blackout. We've shot some small groups here and there, but that whole target was good stuff. Thanks a lot man!

    main thing I got out of this video is that I'm glad I went with 16 inch barrel in my 300 Blackout I also went with 16 inch barrel on my 458 Socom. I've seen people talk disparagingly about the accuracy of the 458 but with mine I am having really good results. best 5 shot group of .75 minutes. best from my 300 is .9 minutes which considering the main usage for both is home defense will definitely work. I typically use Lil gun powder but currently I'm trying out Hodgdon 300 Blackout for both chamberings so far so good. I use Lehigh defense almost exclusively for my rounds I keep in my guns in case of emergency needed use. great ammo. the one exception to this would be polycase ARX for my 458 which have shown very very devastating results on soft tissue Targets. your vids are always info filled and seemingly unbiased....thanks.

    Johnny, all I can is awesome man! I think you have something with those bullets and that 16" gun. All those single digit standard deviation numbers was fantastic. As for the controlled chaos, Ive seen the gel tests etc.. for those buggers. They are impressive to say the least. I can't wait to see more development on this series. Keep up the good work brother! Take care!

    Very good detailed video. I have done my own full load work up of the 115gr. CU. bullets with my favorite powder, Win. 296. In my 9" AAC blackout. 18.6gr. charge won the test for my development. Looks similar to your 18.5gr. Group. I use Win296 for my 220gr subsonic loads too which work perfectly against the over hyped 1680 powder.

    Your results are what I'd expect, the 8.5" is for CQB. So the groups look good!(to me) The 16" IS impressive! That's a great combination of rifles with the SBR a PRIME Home Defense weapon and the Controlled Chaos is supposed to be a great Home Defense round! Then the 16" for reaching out when needed. Love the .300blk series!

    I went from 18.3 to19.5 of h110 in .3 increments with my PSA 8.5 inch. 18.6 shot a 7/8” group. Which is very similar to your results. Mine also opened up on the top end so I guess I’ll settle with a lower Velocity for accuracy.thanks for all your hard work and videos they are great information.

    100 yard groups. Keep in mind 10.5" is the best "minimum" length to take advantage of 300AAC. Especially for hunting precision and velocity for deer and hogs within 100 yards. Excellent value to your efforts here.

  • @jnordwell

    Like this video and it proves to me that a short stubby barrel isnt in my mind a group shooter.. like a snub nose revolver vs a 8” target match shooter. Was always told longer barrel is the best and to me this proves it. Sbr is in my mind a close qtr combat self defense gun and longer barrel is a hunting barrel..

    I have 2 simular guns and have really enjoyed the series. I just don't think it's worth the money for those Rainier or Noveske at $400 plus. I have a 10.5 Faxon and 14.5 Balistics Advantage and they are very accurate. I have used these bullets with 19.1gr of H110. However my 110gr Vmax with 19.2grs of H110 are my go to sub MOA bullet in my 14.5in barrel. Keep it up JB, I save money with you eliminating the bad stuff for us.

    john, my experience with Alliant is bad, that 300-mp has always disappointed my expectations, I load a lot of heavy pistol magnums, 44, 454, 460........I've never had more squib dud loads than with this crap from alliant, continually underperformed in velocity throughout all the calibers, and what a mess to clean plus the dangers of squibs.
    I called alliant which is Vista outdoors subsidiary, the jackass in charge was the most obnoxious person, I explained my concerns & he "told" me to send him the powder back packed in 300 mag. cases , around 85g each, capped with a bullet, then they would run analysis on the contents.......really, so I lose powder & cases& bullets. .....a real jackass!!
    I eliminated reliant from my purchases from that point on, by the way, you do a fantastic job with all your vids, great channel, thanks
    also, maybe you can comment, just picked up 300BO, 11.5 bbl, I use 152gn hardcast, ww & linotype with a splash of tin, great bullets ....having feeding issues, I saw the removal of the mag rib issue, then feeding fine, is that true, any comments will be great, thanks

    It would be interesting to see a Factory Brass video. Hornady price has dropped (per 100), Nosler offers SSA now, Federal pretty cheap. Now there's Prvi Partizan, Sig Sauer, Winchester, Jagemann, Armscor, and Starline (cant find S&B). Some are SAAMI .223 like brass, others thicker like 5.56 brass (velocity potential?).

    Greeting from NY Johnny: A while back when I saw your video on the Lee Reloader Single Stage Press ( the c Press). Question: How do you empty the primer catcher on this machine? from what I can see you have to unbolt the press from the bench in order to empty it! So if you can answer this it would be greatly appriciated! And by the way thanks for sharing your knowledge of reloading!
    Happy Reloading
    Victor Torres

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 лет назад

      I don't know any solution for that. I have seen people cut a hole in their bench for the primers to fall out of but I wasn't willing to do that. Frankford Arsenal makes a handheld decapping unit that might be another solution for you. It would cost more than your press did, though! Good luck!

    Your degrading accuracy over time with the first barrel could very well be due to fouling -- copper or even carbon. Without a good borescope it's possible to have a lot of fouling that you really can't detect well -- and which typical cleaning methods don't remove. Personally, I've learned a HELL of a lot about bores and cleaning since getting my Hawkeye borescope. I now use exclusively "Bore Tech" bore cleaning products, and I can see for myself how great a job it does.

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 лет назад

      That is certainly possible. I did a deep cleaning on both guns before this video, though. I use Butch's Bore Shine and/or foaming bore cleaners to remove copper. I might pick up some J-B and give that a try before I replace the barrel. It also might be a major lead deposit or something from all the lead I've shot through it. I definitely agree that I need a bore scope!

    • @zekethefishgeek8690
      @zekethefishgeek8690 5 лет назад

      Uhhh... yeah... it's not only good for them, it's seriously just DEVASTATING to anything it hits. I'd use it on a bear or an elk after shooting 6 coyotes, 15 whitetails and LOTS OF 300 lb or less hogs with one @ 341lbs.
      I shot everything that I have mentioned above with the 110 gr. Brass Controlled Chaos or 115gr Copper Controlled Chaos - 1to 8" twist, 16" spiral fluted barrel with a few different type of muzzle brakes on it, the AR-15 with Geisselle 3lbs+/- super single stage trigger and Geisselle 3-wire braided buffer spring, titanium pin, BCG, Carbon Fiber handguard, and it has dropped EVERY animal except for a single deer that took a single falling step forward... shots were from roughly 35 out to 140 yds with one coyote shot at 200.
      I like Liberty Ammunition's 96gr. Animal Instinct bullet for coyotes, deer, or hogs up to 300lbs. It is chronographed right at 2550-2570fps. in my .300 blackout. ACCURATE & ABSOLUTELY DEVA"DAMN"STATING OUT TO 250 FOR ME...

    Quick question: After browsing the Lehigh website, it struck me that they offer brass and copper bullets in very similar weights of the same calibers. What's the difference in your experience?

  • @lantzfamilyadventures5845
    @lantzfamilyadventures5845 5 лет назад

    Would you use these for deer hunting? I was going to go with the 125 SST but don’t know if I can get good enough Velocity to reliably expand them out of 8.5 inch barrel

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  5 лет назад +2

      Yes, I think the 115gr Lehigh would work on deer. The only thing I have against them is that they shed weight. The front of the bullet fragments by design and the base of the bullet penetrates. I prefer bullets that retain weight, but many people like the fragmenting style of expansion.
      When I went hog hunting with supers I chose the 120gr Barnes TAC-TX and they performed beyond my expectations. There is also a 110gr Barnes TAC-TX that would probably be a better choice for your 8.5" barrel. They have an extremely low minimum expansion velocity, so they are perfect for 300 Blackout. They are extremely expensive, but if you just stick to Winchester 296 or H110 it won't take that many to work up your load. I have videos on both the 110 and the 120 version so maybe that will help you get started. Good luck! Also, Barnes has load data on their website: www.barnesbullets.com/files/2016/03/300AACBlackoutV6ForWeb.pdf

      They wouldn't have enough velocity to properly expand most bullets so there's probably not much interest out there. They would be a lot of fun for plinking, though. I know I have some videos with 168gr supers. I might try some 180's sometime.
