    I know it can be frustrating but you are helping a lot of reloaders. Many times it feels like we are chasing our own tails sorting variables. You will get it worked out, one barrel at a time.

    I ran these bullets out of my 16" 300 @ 2.21 and worked up to 18.4 of h110 with 450's, 18.2 & 18.4 were ragged 5 shot groups, no abnormal 300 blk extractor marks. Loving the daily vids man :)

    Try loading 2 groups of 5 all identical with great attention to overall length.
    Drop the bolt on 5 of them, eject them carefully and re-measure AOL. I betcha they will not be what you started with especially without a crimp. I'd then shoot those same 5 from the magazine and the other 5 by loading the very carefully (like when you use that split case of yours) and compare the two groups.
    I've been planning this experiment for a while because I can't stop my rounds from growing in OAL when chambering but still haven't had the time to go to the range.
    On the topic of W296 and those SD numbers.... well if I recall correctly you saw similar numbers with you Rainier barrel but then when you got to 20+ grains, the SD numbers tightened up. I've seen something very similar in my loads with 110gn bullets.
    just my 2c
    Thanks for the videos !!!

    I use 17.6 grains of h110 and get sub Moa at 100 yds regularly with 125 grain Sierra tmk, 17.2 grains of h110 with Hornady sst's are tac drivers also. I seat both at 2.250 with cci 400's. That's out of a 18 in cmmg barrel. Hope this was a little helpful. I also wanted to add great idea with the table mat, I agree 24"x 36" would be perfect, def put don't blow your face off on it, like someone else had wrote a spot with a dry erase area would be cool and I like the idea of your most accurate loads with a pic of each cartridge and the specifics like powder ,charge weight, trim length, oal, bullet etc.. I'd def buy one. Thanks for another great vid, keep them coming.

    Awesome video!!
    I've tested the 69, 77, and 175 TMK, and found all of them were picky regarding COAL and jump.
    Terminal ballistics were very impressive with them though. They perform almost exactly like a Nosler BT. I was hoping you were going to throw CFEBLK in the mix as well..

    Sierra currently shows a max load of 20 gr of Win296 with this bullet. Interesting.

    Though 300MP and W296 are similar, 300MP needs upto 1gn more powder. IMR 4227 data is a good grains/velocity approximation. Use Sig Sauer MatchKing factory ammo as a baseline (I get 2250fps with my barrel). I use 18.8 W296 vs 19.8 300MP with #450s and 125gn MatchKings.

    Love the channel, specifically this 300BLK playlist! I am interested in getting into reloading to really bring my hunting round to something I can depend on, and not have to hope it's in stock. I'm looking at the Hornady 125gr SST. Do you think it would perform in similar test loads as your Sierra or Speer? Have you thought about trying it out? I'm looking to use CCI #400 and H110.

    It would be interesting to see the difference in velocity between the suppressor and without the suppressor. So, take 5 different charges and measure the velocity both with and without the can. Also, see if there is any difference in accuracy with and without.

    You should give accurate 5744 a try. I use it in 277 wolverine supers and get good velocity and usually single digit SD. It's suppose to be a good powder for 125 grain 300blk.

    Not crimping those bullets probably hurt accuracy probably getting bullet setback those are usually good accurate bullets out of my blackout 14.5 and 8in Barrel

    I would take that load that gave you an SD of 6.5 and explore that further. Change seating depth, try different primers, shoot more than one five shot group, try crimping it ..........try to develop the load. It seems promising to me.

    I would bet that a slight crimp would tighten up your SD and accuracy a little just a thought....

    at 2:05, you stated that the charges were Sierra's max charge, but that was probably for a 16" barrell..... you're shooting out of a 10.5", so pressure won't be as high

    Have you tried Lil Gun powder for 300BLK? It has become my go-to for supers and subs. I've had very good consistency and it meters well.

    16 barrel making accurate shots with 300 blackout would be perfect so what am looking at ? 100 grain bullet with 2700 military fps specs? You could sell it to Marines for island,fighting .

    Johnny,
    I think you'll like N120 and the 208gr ELD-M.
    I was able to hit quarter size groups consistent at 75yds. Not bad for subs eh?

    Hey JRB, when you try Lil Gun tomorrow can you please try without suppressor? I just went to the range Saturday with my 8.5 inch loaded with 135 gr Sierra Varminter #2124. CFE BLK worked great but Lil Gun was subsonic and failed to cycle all the way from minimum to maximum with Hodgedon's data. Interested in what you see. Cheers and don't blow your face off.

    I've had a hell of a time getting good accuracy out of the 300 blk. I've got a tiger American in 300blk and an AR with a 10.5" barrel and one with a 16" barrel. I have never been able to consistently get under 1" groups. My average over all the guns and barrels is probably close to 1.75" with all types of bullets. It seems to me that 300blk is inherently inaccurate. The big bullets held by a fairly small case neck is my best guess as to why it's hard to get good accuracy. But I'll be trying magnum primers or bench rest primers to see if your theory on ignition is causing the bad S.D's which is a problem I've also had. Thanks for the video.

      what about a 300 in 16 Inch barrel making accurate shots at 400 yards . What be required that ? 100 grain going 2700p fps ? milI spec it and sell it !

  • @1RobHunter1

    Man you had a tough time with that 300 Blackout barrel. My AR Stoner barrels group under 1 inch with Lil gun no issue with Speer 125gr TNT's.
    With 16" barrel I gain 100fps + too. Your barrel is picky.

  • @davidpeterson6147
    @davidpeterson6147 7 лет назад

    JRB, as far as suppressor influence, you simply have to shoot suppressed first and then reshoot the best group unsuppressed. You could do it the other way but I believe you intend to shoot this gun suppressed a majority of the time so my first suggestion would work best for you. Are you going to shoot any CFE BLK in any future 300 BLK video? Thanks for the video.

  • @mikeo4899

    I would basically parrot others here. All auto loading rounds being fed into a M-4 style feed ramp needs to be crimped. It’s not for the recoil it for the feed in.

    I am building a 300 AAC load with IMR 4895 for the 125 grain bullet. Has anyone done this? It is for the 300 AAC in an AR15 platform. Relating to other powders referenced, I am looking at a 16 grain starting load. Any comments would be appreciated. Steve

    • @jimvac77
      @jimvac77 3 года назад

      IMR 4895 is not a suitable powder for 300 AAC. It is too slow. You won't be able to get enough into the case to reliably cycle, and you'll have lousy velocity, best case scenario. There's a reason why there's no published load data for this cartridge/powder combo.

    You should reshoot with Mag primers.

    • @tjh44961
      @tjh44961 7 лет назад +4

      I agree -- typically, W296 and H110 require a magnum primer to get complete and reliable burn, and if the 300-MP is as close to W296 as people think, then it's probably the same. And the weird velocities would tend to support the theory.

    • @JohnnysReloadingBench
      @JohnnysReloadingBench  7 лет назад +1

      I am with you guys 100%. I think it would make for a great test. Like Tom said, W296 is notoriously hard to light in the 357 Magnum world. I don't see why it would be any different in 300 Blackout.
      Tomorrow is the Speer TNT, but the video after that will be a reshoot with Magnums.

      HCNFAN agreed. Gotta burn all that powder.

    • @VitoBb1978
      @VitoBb1978 7 лет назад

      296 & H110 need a Maggum in the 357 & 44 Magnum because your shooting a larger amount of slow burning Pistol powder with a heavy bullet 100 + grains and 200+ grains with a very heavy Roll crimp. In rifle loading 296 is a FAST burning powder. There is no published data that calls for a Small rifle Magnum primer in the 223/5:56.

    I don’t think the 300 is a tack driver no one gets great accuracy so why try. If the bullet hits side ways out to 59 yards I’m happy
