just a quick thanks for doing all your 300blk videos. I've been loading the 300 for a couple months only so I've loved following along trying some of the same loads. I have the 10.5" rainier ultramatch and love it.
Thank you so very much for all the time, money and effort you put in your videos they have really helped me increased my confidence in my own reloading.
Really excellent data for 300 BLK. Hodgen /AR Stoner should send you some free goods as a kind thank you ! Regardless its great data for us home reloaders and I can't thank you enough.
Why not? There's a whole smorgasbord of match quality bullets in .308, hell it's probably the single caliber with the most choices of projectiles. And as this guy's proven most of the .308 projectiles work pretty damn well with 300 blackout. The only real downside is that you're talking .50$ per projectile as the minimum for most of these. With alot significantly more expensive.
the huge difference between CFEBLK and H110 is the max psi to achieve the same velocity. For example in 168 grain CFE BLK is 41800 psi for 1887 fps and H110 is 53300 for 1817 fps.
I was looking for some data on the 168 gr A-MAX for .300 Blk, because I already have the bullet for my M1 Garand. I am glad to see that this bullet performed well from the shorter barrel. Thanks for making this video.
Years later, this remains an Intriguing bullet weight range for the .300 BLK supers. These ballistics are a lot like top end .357 Mag carbine numbers, albeit with way more aerodynamic bullets (and honestly most .357 carbines would be unable to match the gilt-edged accuracy displayed here).
I have watched all your videos and can’t thank you enough for the content. I was wondering if you have any heavy supersonic 220gr SMK data done. I was think about giving 300-500 yds a try. I found some data with sierra and it looks like 1680 is the winner for velocity to 1500 fps with 16.5 A1680. WAs hoping we could get 1800-1900fps. Any advice would be great. Thanks. Side note I have a 1:5 twist 6” bolt gun that loves the heavies
Awesome stuff brother. I haven't seen it on the shelf yet either. What do you think about revisiting the cheap plinking subs with the 147 grainers to see if there are velocity control issues like there are with 1680.
I have a lb of this cfe blk but I'm not going to be reloading blackout anymore. Does this powder mirror any powder for .308 Win? I'd like to be able to use it for some other loads.
My understanding that the .308 168 gr bthp's fired from a .308 begin to yaw as they transition from supersonic to subsonic at around 800 meters range. My question : Will this be a problem with supersonic heavy bullet 300 blk loads? If your MV is 1800+, at what range will you drop below the approx Mach 1 of 1100 fps? I'm wondering if its worthwhile to pursue heavy bullet supersonic loads if subsonic transition is not so far downrange.(Update) I did a little research. The bullet stays supersonic farther than I thought, per Hornady Calculator. Entering 1800 fps MV and my 5000 ft altitude, the G-1 BC of .475 for 168 gr A-Max is supersonic to past 600 yds. I'm surprised! This may well be worth pursuing!!
Great videos! Keep em coming! I was watching one of your older videos with some of the Lehigh defense rounds. You were shooting 300 blackout. Do you think the 168 grain would work well in win .308 subs?
Hey! Just wanted to say that I absolutely love your videos. Learned quite a bit from you! ... I have a question about your 168gr A-MAX load. I have had some 168gr Barnes TTSX that I was planning on loading in my 300PRC as a hunting load, but just tried some in 300BLK. Having problems with them. Have you ever loaded those in 300BLK? I used 20gr of CFE BLK and it’s definitely a super compressed load, but I ended up getting a bullet stuck in my seating die trying to get down to a 2.230 COAL.
I have a serious question. I'm having trouble with once shot brass having a budget near the bottom of the brass near the rim of the bullet. They do not fit in my sizing tool at the base. What can I do to get that buldge out of them.
I found some Nosler ballistic tip 168gr. Do you think it will be comparable to the 168gr A-max. Would like to try them with your recipe for heavy supersonics
Yes, you should be good to go. The Hodgdon website shows 17.4-20.0, but if you look closely the 20gr pressure is only 41,800 psi. Max for 300 blackout is 55,000psi (pulled from the blackout page on wikipedia). With that much extra pressure available before you get to max, there's not much reason to be worried. If the Nosler gave you 10% more pressure for some reason, you'd still be 10,000 psi below max! Be safe, watch your brass for pressure signs, but you should be just fine.
Get a tramp stamp. Newbie here. I have one set of Lee dies , but the shell holder is missing. I got a set of shell holders when I bought my RCBS kit. Can I use RCBS shell holder with the Lee dies?
Thanks appreciated it. Just to let you know your videos is costing my a ton of money. Waiting for my stamp for my Omaga , ordered a press. Odd how that works. You quit your job to make videos and I have to work so I can watch them.
Hey Johnny quick inquiry. I just started reloading for the 300, I decided my first reloads are going to be with 168 amax and CFEBLK I started at the recommended starting charge but upon seating the first bullet I noticed that there is absolutely no room left in the case. Same with 18.0 I stopped there until I can verify I’m not going to blow my face off, I’m also using converted 223 brass. I haven’t felt the rounds compress yet but I figured better safe than sorry. Is this normal?
I have 168gr a Amax and 168 gr nosler bthp , I have win 296 ,reloader 7 . I’m shooting an 8 in black out pistol . Do you have any load data or atleast a place to look for the powder and bullet combo I have on hand ... our powder and bullet choice in the area is very slim , and factory ammo for the 300 is non existent.
i was watching your press and it looks like its flexing several thousands. have you checked to see if your rounds are concentric? i know in my 308 target rifle if my rounds are out of round by just .005 it will give me 1/4 to 1/2 inch larger groups.
I paid less than 100 for a Hornady concentric tool. I have been happy with it. the selling point for me was being able to correct the runout. other mods will tell you the rounds are out of round but no way of fixing the problem.
Do you know of any gel tests for either of these loads? I’m interested in the heavier supers for my 10in pistol but was wondering if the velocity is going to cause them not to be very effective ballisticly
I haven't tried it with the 110 TAC-TX yet. It would definitely lack a bit on velocity but my experience so far tells me that it would probably be accurate! I don't have any more TAC-TX bullets on hand right now or I would test them. Maybe sometime soon.
Johnny's Reloading Bench...Reloading some today starting with 19 gr of CFE BLK and working up to 20.0 gr. COAL is 2.25. Probably won't be able to test, as the weather is keeping me pinned down, but will let you know how it goes when I can. Will be shooting through an Odin Works 10.5" barrel with 1:8 twist.
Not Trying to spend your money.. Check out Annealeez. I have one.. never looked over my shoulder. If you feel inventive,, check out (Elfster's Rifles and Reloading) Channel.. Right now the Dude is going through a real Life Trial, However He is one of the smartest on you tube. Dave.
Have you ever tried the Eggleston Munitions powder coated bullets (www.egglestonmunitions.com/shop.html#!/30-Caliber-200gr-500-Count/p/68177190/category=10873432)? I have not be able to get my hand on CFE Black or I would have tried that combination myself.
just a quick thanks for doing all your 300blk videos. I've been loading the 300 for a couple months only so I've loved following along trying some of the same loads. I have the 10.5" rainier ultramatch and love it.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching.
I found a lb at Cabela's on Friday along with 4 lbs of 1680. It was like finding a herd of unicorns and a leprechaun at one time.
A rare find! I'm glad to hear that the CFE BLK is starting to show up on shelves.
Lol and 4 years later it's harder to find. lol
Hodgdon tattoo and a dip in creek for the suppressor. Perfect😎😎😎
Thank you so very much for all the time, money and effort you put in your videos they have really helped me increased my confidence in my own reloading.
No problem! Thanks for watching!
I was at Cabelas in Delaware yesterday, they had plenty of powder, but no CFE BLK. Thanks for the great videos!
Really excellent data for 300 BLK. Hodgen /AR Stoner should send you some free goods as a kind thank you ! Regardless its great data for us home reloaders and I can't thank you enough.

Just so much info in these videos that I needed to see Thanks......
Great results, and your barrels should be really clean!
I've seen CFE BLK up here in Pennsylvania at my local gun shop
All I can say is awesome sir👍. Can't wait to get a few pounds of this powder.
Thanks! Hope you find some soon. It really seems like a great powder so far.
Great video and shooting Johnny. Hog hunting soon I hope.
Cabelas in Augusta, Ga. had several 1lbs-ers.
Sounds like Cabela's really got a big shipment. Seems that's where most people are finding it.

I am definitely planning to do that!
Johnny's Reloading Bench I'd like to see a video on the m80 bullets as supers
I also have had good results with AR Stoner barrels.
Buy a 8 pound saw somewhere don't remember think powder valley had it for $159 plus hazmat and shipping
those first 2 shots on the 16" were right after you dipped your can in the creek.....bet the had something to do with the temporary group shift.
Good call. Definitely might have been a factor.
I just bought my first pack of primers, look out guns
In stock at Cabelas. Bought 2 lbs yesterday.
Awesome! That's great news.
Way to go. Another great video. I'm doing my 300 loads now. P.S. Did you post the link for the case expander die. I'm sure I'll be able to find it.

My brother in law had a .351WSL. It sounds like that is what you are trying to achieve with the ultra heavy Blackout loads.
I picked up two pounds at cabelas in Colorado
Awesome! Glad it's hitting the shelves. Seems like a great powder so far.
Great videos! Keep em coming! I was watching one of your older videos with some of the Lehigh defense rounds. You were shooting 300 blackout. Do you think the 168 grain would work well in win .308 subs?
I'm not sure about 308 subs. I've never played around with them before. The 194 Lehigh might be a good option as well.

What distance was your target at and what did you sight the 168 grain in at for the close target?
Would the water in your suppressor on the start of your 16" string have anything to do with the first group opening up?
Definitely possible!
I found some Nosler ballistic tip 168gr. Do you think it will be comparable to the 168gr A-max. Would like to try them with your recipe for heavy supersonics

JRB, How dirty is CFE BLK compared to H110 in your experience when it comes to cleaning your guns?
Most of my shooting so far has been suppressed so it's hard to judge. Everything is filthy when you shoot suppressed!
Any signs of excessive pressure on the 20.0 charge?
What if BLK was for bulk? :inception:
Get a tramp stamp. Newbie here. I have one set of Lee dies , but the shell holder is missing. I got a set of shell holders when I bought my RCBS kit. Can I use RCBS shell holder with the Lee dies?

Hodgdon is worthy of a neck tattoo!

I need to buy a concentricity gauge. The press certainly does flex a bit! If been meaning to try and measure it with a feeler gauge.
I paid less than 100 for a Hornady concentric tool. I have been happy with it. the selling point for me was being able to correct the runout. other mods will tell you the rounds are out of round but no way of fixing the problem.

Does anyone know if this would be a good bullet (168g A-Max) for hunting, will it expand at 300 BLK Velocities?
What is your thought about the Sierra 155gr Palma bullet?
I don't have experience with that bullet. I expect it would work great, though!
They should be pretty nice. I'm interested in working up for the 150 grain Lehigh Solid Match.
Would you hunt with the 168 amax?
Would like to see a 6.8 video.
does anyone know if expansion is possible with the 168 amax bullet in the blkout?
Jeez Johnny, can the Blackout get a 240 gr. bullet out the end of a barrel with enough energy left to kill a deer at 100 yds?
iam just getting into reloading and my quistion is what is sd or could you explain it to me and how do you calculate that
ideas of where to start for 175 grain match kings to use as a sub?
Would you hunt with it?
Any data with Barnes Tac-Tx 110 gr? These are great videos. Thanks.
I haven't tried it with the 110 TAC-TX yet. It would definitely lack a bit on velocity but my experience so far tells me that it would probably be accurate! I don't have any more TAC-TX bullets on hand right now or I would test them. Maybe sometime soon.

300 blackout
Bought a pound today

Have you ever tried the Eggleston Munitions powder coated bullets (www.egglestonmunitions.com/shop.html#!/30-Caliber-200gr-500-Count/p/68177190/category=10873432)? I have not be able to get my hand on CFE Black or I would have tried that combination myself.
I haven't tried their rifle bullets yet. I've had success with their pistol bullets, though.
what twist is your 8.5 inch gun
1:8
thanks!
mine are bigger than they need to be wtf
Is there any reason why I couldn't load 10 grains cfe blk under a 168 bthp for subs ????? I did and they shot like shit.....
