4080 vs 7900xtx is also tricky especially for 4k gaming. The Vram advantage is actually significant for 4k. But with upscaling NVIDIA still has a slight upper hand especially with ray tracing.

The RX 6800 for 340 is better, in my opinion. Keep in mind that even those cheaper model 6800s are likely better quality than the 6750 XT models that you would be finding for 280, as the minimum level of quality for RX 6800s is quite decent, whereas many 6700 XT and 6750 XT models seem to have some questionable build quality, especially with the cooler and fans.
It's also 60 dollars more for a significant improvement in performance, vram capacity, and memory bandwidth, which really isn't a lot to pay for that much of an upgrade.

@@leistial1761 With Nvidia cards, maybe. They do drop in price, but often it takes about a year or two for us to see a 50% cut in price in the used market. Since GPUs, especially Nvidia's (all board manufacturers) can be delicate I am always cautious when recommending purchasing used GPUs. Even if they were robust, the newer cards are generally much better if you just spent a bit more money. Energy efficiency, feature sets and the latest drivers for the latest games matter.

      50 series will be:
      0) Not out until 6 months from now eg Dec 2024/Jan 2025 (For the 5090, then the 5080), 5070 and lower likely 9 months from now eg early 2025,
1)Stock issues on release, then scalper resell issues,
      2) Overpriced, eg 5090 likely £2000-£2500, 5080 likely £1700-£2000
      3) Vram will be too low for modern and near future games on anything but the 5090 (28GB) and 5080 (24GB),
      4) 5090 and 5080 will have too high power usage and heat therefore causing size of cards to be still crazy huge and heavy for coolers requirements,
      5) Prices of 30 and 40 series will drop accordingly making the high end 3090 and 4080 4090 look more compelling used than new 50 series upper mid range card when released.
The current last 4 years nvidia strategy is only doing 1 thing:
Making mid range/budget buyers more compelled to buy high-end last gen based on budget reasons instead of low, overpriced new/current gen options each release.

The 3050 8GB is a good card to avoid in most situations, the only advantages it has over AMD is not needing PCIe 4.0 to access most of the cards' performance along with DLSS (which does come in handy at this price tier). The 3050 6GB is actually a better deal in my eyes, but IF AND ONLY IF you either want a low-power option or require one for an office PC upgrade or something. AMD's lower-power options are worthless without PCIe 4.0 due to lane restrictions. While I'm aware FSR 3.1 is on the way and should be a massive improvement over FSR 2, there is no guarantee that it'll be applied to all games retroactively. There could be many titles that are no longer actively supported that'll be stuck between DLSS or FSR 2, which is hardly comparable for most players.

Tbf there aren't many ways to accurately bench test VR due to not so much software existing for it, but I would like to see common VR headsets like the Quest 2 and 3, and a few more to be tested. Maybe a specific new software to emulate the VR image so you don't need to buy a bunch of VR headsets

I bought it for the game Heroes&Generals and as that closed its servers for the game Enlisted. If money wasn't a factor. I really like the 4070 ti Super. It has the right balance of core power and VRAM that one won't limit the other and power usage is really good for it's performance. Also, the 4070 makes the 4060 ti 16 prices look even more ridiculous. I'm waiting for both next gen to see what they offer. If next AMD can beat some of the current nvidia with brute force no fancy upscale or anything. I would consider it. Because yeah, DLSS is better than FSR. But native res is even better. Same goes for RT. AMD takes a massive hit compare to nvidia. But still some of the higher end AMD still perform better than an nvidia of similar Price. Making it so yeah, they take a hit. But it's still giving you better performance than the competition. Unless you have to factor up scaling. Which again, native still better.

If you're looking to do more than just game, & get into the AI/Machine Learning space, then stay away from AMD. They just announced they're dropping support for lower end "budget" GPUs like the 6500XT and some of the RDNA 2 Cards. Switching to Nvidia is like going from wooden shoes to Hokas, or pushbike to Fighter Jet. You're paying more but the difference in performance in Compute/3D for AI/ML tasks is orders of magnitude better. I'm talking jaw dropping performance difference.
