I'm very happy with my 3060. My upgrade was from a GTX 970. It runs smoothly, games look, and play great. For a 12gen CPU, 32GB Ram, and a Samsung 230Hz 1080p monitor, it's all I need right now.

''little card'', ive had a 1060 for 6+ years and i was fine and now ive had a 6600 for months and you don't really need much more for 1080p, unless you are playing on a massive screen and you need some expensive card to tank its way through. But ive noticed that on the internet if you don't have a high end system or anything really you are like a peasent level which shows in your comment. Or maybe pc components are a lot cheaper where you are from.

I got an RTX 3060 a couple years ago for about $400. It's still a great card with Fallout 4, Skyrim, Tiny Tina's Wonderland, Subnautica, and Fallout 76 looking well. It pairs well with my Ryzen 3 3200 G with 16 gig 3200 ram, built in 2020. If you think my rig is old, the case is an alienware from 2005!

I have a 3060 too paired with a R5 3400g, I was already getting solid fps in games till I figured out how MUCH performance is getting wasted just because my CPU can't keep up with the GPU. There's a visible bottleneck happening in almost all perspectives.

Depending on games, 3060 can be good enough. It also power efficient and 12 GB of RAM is good. If you play latest AAA titles on ultra it will not make it, but lower to high 1080p and you will be good to go, maybe sometimes with DLSS. It still a solid card, people who think otherwise just have not tried it.

I bought a 3060 about 1 year ago to replace my 1650 that I bought during pandemic price times. I admit I sent back the 3060 within a week, and upgraded to the 3060ti. The ti version makes a pretty substantial difference. But, the 3060 is great for most users. I only upgraded to the ti because I wanted slightly better gaming performance.
*edit - To add, I play on a 1080 x 60 27" monitor. And even in 1080, I couldn't max out Hogwarts Legacy with a 5800x & 32gb ram. I can max almost all settings, but some I put down to high (to get a constant 60fps and never drop below). So, I'd say this isn't really a 1440 card, unless you plan to play on medium settings.
And, I would suggest setting your own fan settings.

I use it for photo editing and playing Battlefield 1. If a new game comes out that requires an upgrade I'll do it - but I've got zero interest in the current crop of games that are all graphics and zero soul or gameplay.

i made a last update for my aged Ryzen System (R5 2600/x370!/GTX1050Ti)
So the 3060(regular) was set in my mind. 350€ for the FirstEdition sounded nice.
unfortunately the circumsdances with Bitcoinmining-Boom an the resulting scacity of GPUs lead to absurd higher prices that had their peak around 600€ for the same card.🤔
also rumors came up of a 12GB Model. Sounded cool but not in this pricerange.😭
meanwhile AMD came from 3xxx to 5xxx CPUs, and with that the rather more expensive X3D Model was release.... but wouldnt work on my vintage x370 Mainboard. Or???
well 12 moth ago things came all together in the way i liked it: 3060/12 has normal price (even if i speculated with a lowerage becaus of the announced 4060).
the BIOS/UEFI was updated for the R7 5800X3D 🤑and the price was double the same CPU without X3D, but almost have of the price it used to be. So, here we go.
I have the fastest Gaming CPU of its time.
I have a RTX3060/12 which does a good job in FullHD.
an i avoided the much more expensive AM5 Ryzen, the AM5 Boards and the (at that time) more expensive DDR5. crowned with a very OK Grafikcards (mostly in ARK survival Ascended with UE5).
Tests an Articels on computersites alwas talk about Top-of-the-Hill-Gear, which is irrelevant for 80% of the audience/users.
So im with you: 3060 is still a good choice.
"...yeaaa, but the 4060..." Moment, Smartheads. NVidia is in a similar situation as intel was 12 years ago: they have no real competitor. and therefore the 40xx series (exept the 4090-Monster) does not make much efforts to be innovative or progress in performance. And for that, the prices are still indecent.
So the mentioned System has to/is doing well for the next 2-3 years. and in this period a lot of interesting technical shit will happen, that it makes me(us/you) worth investing in.
    have a nice one

I am in dire situation, I need to upgrade my motherboard because I made a mistake of getting a motherboard that only had one M.2, Now I needs to upgrade my motherboard to one that got a few M.2, But all the motherboards now is DDR5, I only just put 32gb of DDR4 on my PC, lol, I can't find a DDR4 motherboard that is worth it when the DDR5 is the same price, And 16gb of DDR5 is as fast as 32gb of DDR4, So I guess I will have to get a motherboard that is DDR5, And get 16gb of DDR5, I can't afford the 32gb of DDR5.....
Is there any way I can keep my 32gb of DDR4 and still upgrade my motherboard with more than one M.2 slots, And still keep my PC future proof, DDR5 is the future, Why can't a motherboard run both DDR4 and DDR5, If a CPU can run both DDR4 and DDR5, Serious question, And can't really find an explanation why a motherboard can't be DDR4 and DDR5, It makes it confusing if a CPU can do DDR4 and DDR5, The i5 12600k I have currently is a fantastic CPU for the price point, I do Sim Racing, And since I put 32gb in the PC, I no longer have stutters when I am racing with a full track of cars, I do VR as well, AMS 2 is VR is again fantastic, I did notice the 12th gen i7 12700k is a lot cheaper than when I bought the 12600k, And I hear the i7 12700k is a fantastic CPU for creators and gamers, Still though the i5 12600k has delt with everything I through at it, And thee 12gb 3060 is a pretty good combo for the i5 12600k, Anything higher in the CPU would create bottle neck you might just notice, but for me the i5 12600k goes pretty well with the 12gb 3060, And with the 3060 being 12gb, It is not a slouch with VR, I find the 12gb helps the 3060 by a lot when it comes to gaming, I read it is the most popular GPU for gaming, After all it is the middle ground between crap and amazing, Making it good, lol....
Yeah I would say to anyone with a CPU that isn't an i9 by the way to grab a 12gb 3060, Don't bother with the 8gb 3060, You better off getting the 8gb 4060 at that point, But 8gb on a GPU in 2024 is insulting in all honesty, A 40 series GPU should not have 8gb or vRam, A waste of vRam at that point, My next GPU will have to be 16gb for me to call it an upgrade, Lets face it from medium to high in graphic settings isn't really noticeable, Even more so in VR, I bet an 8gb GPU struggles when gaming in VR, It would put a huge sweat on for the GPU, But yeah the 12gb 3060 is a fantastic GPU, Like I said it is the middle spot for everything, Even content creation as well as gaming, So the 12gb 3060 is the all rounder I guess.....
And the 12gb 3060 again is pretty good with the Quest 2 that I got, I use a PCVR cable that charges the Quest 2 while I play, I would say there is at least 10 hours of VR play before the Quest 2 battery is run out, It just slows down the power drain on the Quest but I can do 2 hours sim racing with 85% battery left, So yeah the PCVR charging cables are worth getting, INUI cable it is, Well worth getting to be honest if you do VR gaming on your PC, And get Virtual Desktop too, Knocks Steam VR out the window Virtual Desktop, And if you have fast ISP then Virtual Desktop on the meta store allows you to do PCVR wireless, Pretty good if your ISP is fast, Mine isn't I am still not able to have fiber, Good old Blighty we still have estates that isn't fiber, I had to get a TP-Link AX3000 Wifi-6 router to make my gaming better for VR, I will say the TP-Link AX3000 is pretty good as a router, I have it connected to a Sky modem, And the TP-Link have woke up my sky internet, When Sky said it would do nothing, Before I got the TP-Link router my VR gaming was bad, Stutters I was getting was making VR unplayable, But after I put the TP-Link AX3000 in my VR gaming is far better, Night and day type of difference too, I wrote this because there is probably people who is got bad internet connection, It is because the modems that ISP provides, Is dated technology, Old tech don't work very well with up to date tech, lol, We are on Wifi-7 now, And what ISP providers is giving you routers that is actually Wifi-7, I can't even get a Wifi-6 modem off Sky, Unless I was on fiber, But I can't get fiber, lol, It is wrong really for ISP providers to provide tech that seems to be poop, No offence but I read of so many people using 3rd party routers, People should not have to use 3rd party equipment for better or more stable internet connections, I can't wait until my area starts getting fiber, lol...
But yeah the 12gb 3060 is a flipping good GPU, Period, In medium to high settings I get fantastic VR sim racing on AMS 2.....

Not saying some wont enjoy it in fact i'm sure many will.
So the "why" i guess maybe would include what your coming from as a upgrade and since we are looking at tech stuffs maybe some comparison benchmarks would be welcome addition. I guess i just felt i would get to see something of interest other than you holding your new toy. But it never came. i feel sad lol. I dunno.
Why did you buy a 40 month old weak at launch 1080p card for 280 quid when today I can buy an rx 6750 xt xfx qick from ebuyer for £300?
The 6750 xt is 41% faster in Rasterisation (pick yr spelling) also has 12Gb vram and the chops to use it in 1440p AAA higher settings gaming. The 3060 'doesnt'.
The 3060 was so poor ncr4ppier put 12Gb on it but only 8gb on the 3060 t.i. which is 28% faster.
Everybody saw thru this price hiking ruse on the 3060 sh1t show. Generations ago card vendors used to add more ram to crap gpu's but no longer allowed even if possible.
    So, what else we got?
Some utter b0ll0x about the fan blades being curved and higher static pressure? Like they arent on every s.k.u. graphics card? SERIOUSLY? The difference in same price tier gpu cards re noise and temps is minimal, this is not a new field of physics f.f.s.
IF you dont know this create a channel about something else.
    (mowing lawns?)
Oh, you want perhaps to help all those people move from a gtx 1650 to an rtx 3060 for 1440p (most of those '50 cards are in o.e.m. boxes)
Well, that is going to require a power supply upgrade and once you move off the O.E.M. crap PSU that a 1650 will run on THEY will be spending £55 ish for a reliable gaming quality psu.. ALL. DAY. LONG.
    (quick look on part picker)
Say, 550w for your sh1t heap 3060 card ( but once you get into 550 Watts GAMING quality unit, prices vary less . The cheapest 550 watt unit I trust today is the be quiet sys power 10 550w at £52..(trust long term open / hi flow case)
But the be quiet! System Power 10 650 W bronze for £58.. so suddenly a card that needs 650w PSU doesnt look like a deal breaker.
You move on to equate graphics card performance to vram, this is a real noob mistake.
    A 4 Gb rx 4/570 / 80 (and 1060 3Gb if tweaked settings carefully)) will p1ss all over a 4Gb rx 4/ 560, gtx 1050 ti / 1650 in mmo's. And old AAA games @ 1080p.
Basically there are a dozen known popular tech tubers who are absolute experts at this
AND YOU SIR ARE NOT ONE OF THEM.

@@undefinedxx55 technically 720p, but at this point most people mean 1080p, which is still true in this case.

720p is HD Ready not Full HD (1080p). There are also tricky 1080i...

I use to own a INNO3d 3060ti, it performed in games better than the 3060 12gb even with only 8gb VRAM in benchmarks the 3060TI came out at 128% where as non TI was only 100%, but in todays times I'd rather have a video card with least 12GB so I upgraded to a 4070 Super.

nice video, tbh The 3060 is not bad but I would recommend a GTX 1080ti over it, or even an rx6600 and above! but overall price performance is good, especially for 1080p

The Rtx 3060 is faster than both the 1080 Ti and rx 6600.. And has better RT and has DLSS. Yeah the 1080 Ti was a great Gpu but buying that over the 3060 is a waste of money unless you can find one for $$150 or less. Not to mention it has better power efficiency and has more Vram. You comment actually makes zero sense as a consumer. My rtx 3060 overclocks to 2160mhz and can get almost 18gbps out of the memory, which makes it over 15% faster than a stock 3060.

He keeps saying 4k gaming. This is NOT a 4k gaming card. That is why he is not testing it in 4k.

I would have recommended the 6750XT 12GB. It's cheaper, FAR faster, 4GB more VRAM and it's AMD.
Get the 6700XT/6750XT to compare to this card. The XFX Qick 319 is a 3x fan cooler, has zero RPM, too, when not under load and is just an overall better card.
The reason that card is at the top is because people fall for Nvidia advertising. I mean, congrats on your new purchase, but it doesn't compare at all to the 6700XT/6750XT in price, performance, reliability, etc.
You pay less and get more. You can run most 1440p games at max without upscaling whereas the 3060 runs out of VRAM, needs upscaling and... yeah. Congrats either way.. but AMD is the way to go. CONSTANT driver improvements. It also has Smart Access Memory which Nvidia doesn't have.
