    Just a note:
    you might stress that when using Afterburner make absolutely sure that "Use at settings at Windows start up" box is not checked. If you are running your GPU hot enough to crash it will be in a bootloop that would make recovery interesting to say the least.
    Now on a fun note I used this software duo to test my 1660 super and was pleasantly surprised that it produced 116 FPS on ultra during the benchmarking in program, the temps rose a little into the frighten me stage but no thermal throttling happened. This 1660 super has been a very stable, good GPU for me..
    Thanks for the time and effort expended on these videos, their editing and their ULing.... and for the ride along down the information highway!

      @@CyberCPU So after I get my overclock stable, wouldn’t want it to start on windows start up? Thank you so much for the video I’m really happy with my 3060 but I would’ve defenjtly rather got a TI or 3070 but I’ve been waiting 2 years and I found a 3060 MSRP and this is making it sting a little less.

      @CyberCPU  2 года назад +7

      @@mattsmokes2505 No, it's not a good idea to start the OC at boot. I would just apply it prior to launching a game. There's issues that can happen if the OC is unstable and it starts with Windows. It's easier just to launch it before you play games. That way if the system crashes when it reboots it will just start at stock clocks and you can adjust the OC.

    Didn’t know that gddr6 comes stock at 7500 mhz on that 3060.

    Run GPU-Z check what memory brand you have on your card. To me it looks like you have Samsung memory because their memory is good in overclocking. Micron memory is usually very very bad at overclocking. Also you should check out undervolting that could yield you even better OC. Also I have found usually it's best to open my side case door open while I'm gaming or benching. Looking forward to your card MOD's.

      I might try undervolting. However, GPUz currently says it's voltage limited.
      I had a fan blowing directly on it mounted to the bottom of the case. So it was getting very fresh clean air.
      I was thinking about doing a shunt mod on it. However, I don't think it will help. The card rarely goes to it's power limit of 190w.

    • @CyberCPU
      @CyberCPU  2 года назад +5

      The OC cards never overclock very well because they are already factory overclocked. You typically get a lot more overhead from a standard card then an OC card. However, the OC cards start out at a higher clock so ultimately you do get the benefit of a better bined GPU. So the final clock speed of the OC card will likely be a little higher even though the overclock is a little lower. If that makes any sense.

My setting's(MSI) are: +10 core v, +188 core clock, +222 mem clock(this can be improved by replacing the suck thermal padding on the memory, I've seen up to 800 after card rebuilds), 100% p. limit/84c t. limit(stuck there, it never see's 80c, ever.), custom 8 node fan curve, hitting 100% at 71c....there are so many version of this card, and every one of them seem different. Well, overclocking means you are overworking the component for more power, so you could fry it. The best way to avoid that is to always a way to monitor your component. If you see the component is getting too hot, might be a good idea to give it some rest. OC is a great feature, just use it with care. Afterburner is a MUST to have, since it has great and accurate monitoring, so I highly recommend it.

I play my games in 2K and majority are in high settings with the 3060 12vram. Tough games will be around medium to high settings. Haven't tried OC since ive bought it. Gonna try that when I get a chance. I also have a beefy CPU so could explain why is runs better. But I can't go back to 1080. 2k has much more quality for a maybe like 5 fps difference.

    I have an msi rtx 3060 ventus 2x OC edition with the msi z690 pro A motherboard.
    I can't seem to go beyond 100% power limit as the slider in msi afterburner is maxed out at 100%. I tried overclocking +150 on core clock and 1000 on memory clock but it crashes. Can you tell me how to fix the power thing, I even tried putting 110 manually but it doesn't go past 100.

    • @CyberCPU
      @CyberCPU  2 года назад

      Typically the OC cards are already factory overclocked and don't have much headroom. You typically get way better overclocks on the base versions.

      @@CyberCPU so it means I can't overclock it further more?

    • @CyberCPU
      @CyberCPU  2 года назад

      @@micky-oe5ic Maybe a little. When you're overclocking you're relying on the silicone lottery. Manufacturers set the default clock to the highest clock they can get across all quality of cores they have. If 10% of them fail to run at a certain clock speed then they will find a clock that works on those and that will be the default clock for all of them.
      When you overclock You're simply hoping that your specific core doesn't fall into that lower bin that will not overclock as far.
      When you're dealing with a factory overclocked GPU that ceiling for the max overclock becomes much lower because you're starting out higher than the non factory overclocked GPU. It's like trying to get higher when you're already standing on a step ladder, if that makes any sense.
