Find a surgeon who will take care of you! Anal surgery is tough and you will NEED your surgeons help!
For real. Thanks for being so real, candid and up front with us. I’ve learned so much from you!!
This is so true I couldn’t work for 4 months !!! Worse pain ever I had hip replacement shoulder surgery and all nothing comes close to having a hemorrhoidectomy!!! I’m not trying to scare nobody but man if u need this surgery it will be pain but ples get it done if u need it it’s worth it
My doctor said he had to limit the pain meds because they cause constipation. lol I wish I saw your videos before.
Do you have Viber or Whatsapp to contact?
Thank you Dr Chung… your advice is really great and helpful. Thank you so much, God bless you ❤
Saw my surgeon today and he said the recovery is BRUTAL. He was so honest
I love how you are so real with people. You tell the truth about what we need to hear and what we need to know. You are the best.
Pain management is now a huge issue with surgeons. Too many doctors are afraid to treat patients properly over them " losing" their license. Very sad how many people end up not only in serious pain but those that end up dying. A lot of people end up buying painkillers off the street or getting them from a friend then end up dying from fentanyl poisoning. This doctor is spitting facts.
Agreed. Everything has a good and bad side. However, that doesn't mean that people going through anal surgery need to suffer without adequate pain medication! It's absolutely necessary to control pain, but even more necessary is close and careful care from the surgeons doing these surgeries with very difficult recoveries!!! I'm a patient too and I want doctors/surgeons that will take care of me!!
Exactly! Very frustrating
@@yourfriendlyproctologist You are 100% right !
This is exactly what happened to me, they downplayed the recovery and then they’ve been unavailable when I’ve called every time since. Wish I’d had Dr Chung!
How long was your recovery? Are you good now
Love this Dr he’s so honest 😊
Thanks for your realistic appraisal on post op rectal surgery.
Thanks for everything dr chung !!
You warn, but what is solutions, someone has to do the surgery, who should we believe.
GOD BLESS YOU! you can tell he’s a good doctor , empathetic, sympathetic and meets pts needs
I just want to thank you for being a good person and awesome Doctor and telling the truth God Bless you.
This is spot on trust me I know Dr Chung cares big time listen to him

Thank You for being real with us💕💕💕

Thank you! I ended up quitting a job after my surgery because everyone assumed id be back in a few days, no big deal. Mine took at least a couple weeks before i even felt like i could work again. And that first poo was no joke.
Gosh I’m sorry. May your boss never have to have that surgery, right? It’s week 3 post surgery for me and I’m just now able to drive . I hope you’ve had a full recovery and work where you are appreciated.
@@Gilded-girlheyy how you doing now? Is everything fine surgery?
He's totally right! My proctologist said to me, you don't need surgery, period. There too small, just don't irritate them. Miralax and plenty of water. The pain post surgery is not worth it.
I had both external and internal hemorrhoid surgery, and to my surprise, almost 10 hours have passed with no pain. Thank God. I've read many stories about pain, but so far, so good for me. I took one pain medicine tablet while typing this comment. I will provide more updates later. If anyone is suffering like me, please don't wait; do it, and you will enjoy a better life. Thank you all.
Can u give more updates?
@@Ltfhjkjggj - On the first day after surgery, I experienced no pain for 14 hours. However, I woke up the next day at 4 am with horrible pain. I immediately took pain medicine, and it took 15 minutes to kick in. Later, I took the next pain medication after 6 hours. The following pain episode occurred after 5 hours, prompting me to call the doctor. The doctor advised me to take pain medication every 5 hours instead of 6. The best way to manage the pain was sitting in a hot water bathtub every 4 hours, alongside pain medication, which was a significant help.
On the 9th day post-surgery, I completely stopped pain medication and started taking ibuprofen and Tylenol every 6-8 hours. Thankfully, the pain is now gone. I noticed that pain medicine caused difficulty in urination, with my pee stopping for 12 hours at one point. Fortunately, a call to the doctor suggested sitting in a bathtub with hot water, providing significant relief after 15 minutes and allowing my pee to flow normally. In conclusion, I believe the hemorrhoid surgery was worth it for a better, happier life. Thank you all for reading.
To minimize pain, fill your bathtub with 2 feet of hot water (up to your waist level while sitting inside) and sit there for 20 minutes. This provides significant relief from pain. During the first 5 days post-surgery, I sat in hot water every 2-3 hours.
@@Ltfhjkjggjyes please. Did the pain eventually come?
how r u now please update?
@@user-ni1he8qv6u - Today marks two weeks since the surgery, and the pain started the next day. The first five days were filled with unbearable pain, but gradually, it subsided. I am feeling very good and experiencing a new life now. Thank you.
You are right Doctor. My doc said, 4th day you can go to office. I am still at home after 8 days. I need another 8 days atleast
me too
I was out of work for 4 months maybe because I do banquets lifting heavy treys but man recovery was hell
How long before you were good after those add 8 days
Why did you undergo anal surgery ? And how do you do no 2 after the surgery ?
I like your honesty..❤
Great advice. Wish I could find someone like you near Menifee, CA.
I'm going for this soon. Doing my own research. Never trust a doctor. Your life may depend on it. You talk to them about something, they say little pain, expect great pain, they say great pain, then don't expect any.
Use Natural Herbs and get Rid of the Pile and Just use the Ukpagu herbal juice take it for just 7days and it will be totally gone, no need of you sitting on any hot things okay( Hemorrhold ), pile is very easy to cure with ukpagu herbal juice. If you need the already prepared one, just get to me fast
My sister was accused of drug shopping because on day 2 of recovery, the doctor stopped answering. 😢
There are several different procedures for a hemorrhoidectomy. From reading the comments, the banding seems like a fast recovery time. My dad had laser and it was about a week recovery. I had thrombosis and was cut and have stitches. Pure Hell , going on week 3 now. So be sure to look into what kind of procedure will be done on you. Best of luck to all ❤
nice info doc thanks
~Enjoy you sharing your knowledge for us...thank you doctor.
🙏 Thank youuuu
I got my fistulotomi done one week ago, it was just a simple fistula. I had no pain and didnt take any pain medicine. A bit discomfort and bleeding on the toilet. But now one week later it is all healed and i am back to normal :) so it is not always a nightmare i guess ^^ Best regards
I do believe the surgery to correct a fistula is quite different than a hemorrhoidectomy. So it’s likely not an even comparison.
So glad you are doing well!
@@roserichmond4614 Thank you :) i was worried about the pain before the surgery, becouse i read online how bad it would be. So wanted to tell others that sometimes it is not that bad :) Best regards
I’m so glad you shared info about your experience. It will certainly help to balance perceptions.
First hand... this recovery is very very very hard. week 1 and day 1 to 2 are tough!!! you need pain meds before you go to have it on hand like clock work. Anything from coughing to certain movements will be painful because of the incision and muscle down there.
absolutely! they really downplay the pain. The surgery was 100 percent worth it, but it was much tougher than I expected
In how many week people recover from that
@@supadupachicafly how long does it take to recover?

Yep even my insensitive CRS said they were the most painful surgeries there are pretty much.
Love Doct Chang.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lol.. watching this video as I'm sitting on my sitz bath 😂 all kidding aside, I wish this would go away, it's very draining!
I had a guy say this bs and 5 months later he lost his medical license for 5 years pending a board review
Thank you for this. I go Monday to get an evaluation for lazer hemorrhoid surgery I will ask this question
My surgeon warned me it will be one of the worst pains ever and that it's one of the few surgeries she prescribes Percocet for 😅. She was very honest!
If you got it, how was your recovery? And how long before you got back to normal
in my country opioids are illegal..
I thought I had a internal hemorrhoids that when I went to the emergency the attending doctor made a cut to open the wound. I regret going to the emergency, the pain was horrible and gives me external hemorrhoid. I should have wait for it to subside. She prescribed an Ibuprofen for pain, did not help! It was suffering for two weeks! It was the most painful thing I ever experienced.
After that, I went to private proctologist who gave me a proper diagnosis. It was polyps and external hemorrhoids. I signed up for laser surgery. I had a fissurectomy. Had a sedation and local anesthesia. The surgery lasted for about 30 minutes, when I woke up, I can walk, I don't feel any pain. Took a cab going home. The next day I had a check up. He prescribed me for inflammation 1 pill for 3 days, half for another three days, and quarter for last three days.
It was great. I didn't take any pain killer. After one week, I feel great. It only bothers me after I BM, two weeks after it was healed 😊
So I'm happy! I guess i paid for comfort in private, 24hrs emergency contact to my procto after the surgery, they call for follow up how am after few days.. Cost me 2700€ but it's a wise choice!
Wait was it a fissurectomy or hemorrhoidectomy?
I love you. I am 14 days post op open hemmoroidectomy. I am still miserable and dr do belittle this procedure
TMI - but yeah RUN. Especially when you don’t have a BM for 6 days after drinking the prep, you need those pain meds for the first one. I had 4 days worth, I used the first 3 days and skipped the 4th &5th so I had something for the 6th day. I lived in the bathtub. Which they also fail to mention. Sitz is not enough as it gets too cold too fast. The hot water in the tub made the pain disappear. It was worse than kidney stones and 2 months later every movement burns because of bile salts. Oh and they don’t tell you that while it’s healing and the stitches are in place that side doesn’t relax so
If you forget your Metamucil, pray you aren’t going to pass out while going. Hope you enjoyed my Ted talk.
Wish I could see you - the pain is Relentless
A few months ago I went to a doctor for the first time about an external hemorrhoid and basically he said that if there is surgery involved you're gonna hate me for the first 2 weeks and love me afterwards.
thank u
I just had a lateral internal sphincterotomy. The doctor prescribed me hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5/325 for pain. 30 pills. My insurance declined coverage because he didn’t notate I tried non-opioids for pain first. Absolutely BS and I will be appealing. Crazy
Pain while sitting, stage 2 hemorrhoids, doc say he sees 1 polyp scheduled for Hectorommny complex and ansulextraction in 5 days 77 yrs old please pray for me
I admit I am scared.
Brian I am praying for you right now 🙏🏽

This happened.... I have a huge list of everything he did wrong as a decent doctor..... It makes me want to cry every time because now I have complications....
Thank you that happened to me.
Thank you. You’ve been so helpful I’ve had a gastroenterologist for years and yes he’s been able to keep up with me having colonoscopies every 3 to 5 years depending on polyps which is great however I’m having issues with assuming fissures and or hemorrhoids, annoyance and A lot of pressure. I have called him left messages and I don’t get a call back
YES!!!!! This is so infuriatingly true.
I'm in Australia and it happens here too. Total bullshit.
Well, you said it truly
I’m in week 3 and still walking funny. Lol but seriously, it’s been absolute Hell. I had thrombosis so I had to get it done. My sweet Dr warned me several times. He sent me a text after my surgery and told me he was praying for my recovery. I got Percocet 10 for 2 weeks. I took everyone of them. Going to the bathroom is this huge ordeal, sitz baths, tuk pads, rectol cream. I’m ready for this nightmare to be over. Please drink lots of water, take stool softeners and have a good diet. Maybe buy a squatty potty to help you go ti the bathroom without strain. Just try to prevent having surgery all you can. I feel like I deserve to get a baby out of this. Lol
The walking part is the issue I’m having and I’m a week out from surgery. Has it gotten any better? My surgeon didn’t warn me at all and wish because I would have prob never did it. I’m so mad I didn’t go back to my doctor for a second thought before I did it. I felt the surgeon just there to get the money and less on the person and treatment turnaround. This shit sucks so bad
How are you overall now
@@FreesTV bless your heart, I know it’s very hard to get through this. I noticed at one month to the day, I woke up and wasn’t very aware of my booty hole for a change. I felt good. I was getting around so much better. So I wanted to check the calendar to see how long it was Into recovery . So one month and I felt back to myself. I walked a lot that day and even went shopping. The next day , I had a lot of pain and pressure down these. I simply overdid. So that set me back another week. I have really bad days if I can’t go to the bathroom very well and it’s like I re- injure myself. So still tucks pads and lidocaine cream are my friends. I would absolutely never have this surgery again. After learning the hard way. Just be sure to keep yourself hydrated, don’t overdo it, and do kegal exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor. You will get there, I promise. 🙏❤️
Banding is just uncomfortable for a few days, not painful. I'm having my hemorrhoidectomy tomorrow and have been fasting for two days. I plan to continue fasting for at least 3 more days and then switch to bone broth fast. I needed to lose some weight amyway, so allowing my body time to heal sounds much better than putting food through an open wound.
As far as pain killers go, I have a stockpile of unused meds from old surgeries where they were not needed and I plan to just use those if I need them. I assume I will for the first few days.
I had fissure surgery. The worst pain in my life. Try to heal naturally if you can.
What if thrombosed hemorrhoids are the worst pain in your life? I fear having to continually and randomly deal with this.
hi! I just had the same surgery as well as hemorroidectomy I week ago.. very very painful, how are you feeling so far?
@@tamalDeQuesoUwU I had the surgery years ago. After the surgery I had an infection caused by the surgery. I had to take take antibiotics. The antibiotics caused diarrhea which made it much worse. It took a good two month for the infection and pain to go away.
I had an anal fistula surgery July 5, 2023. The first 2.5 weeks was painful, more painful after a bowel movement! I was giving 20 oxy’s, I only took one every 6 hours, along with 1000 mg Tyenol (500 mg capsules). This combination worked extremely well for pain management! I had 9 pills left, as I decided to switch to Tylenol only after that point. My surgeon was a little weird, but after I scheduled a follow-up 2 weeks after, due to the amount of puss still occurring, he seemed to be in better spirits. Its healing nicely, its been a month now, still had drainage, but definitely had taper down as it starts to heal.
How is your healing going?
How’s it going after the surgery?
Damn that makes me nervous. Are you talking just about haemerrhoidectomy, or banding as well? I'm due banding and botox in two weeks and the surgeon was very optimistic about the recovery. I've had friends that have had banding and it wasn't too terrible.
I did my laser for fissure ,am bleeding and having lot of pain that I can't bear really, can u suggest me some remedies ?
Welp, I'm screwed. I have surgery scheduled on the 7th. The doc said this exact same thing to me. I've been struggling with this since March. I've had to wait an eternity to see this specialist. I have lost a lot of faith in healthcare.
I hope everything went well with you!How did the surgery go?How are you doing now?
Hello are you ok ?? Where did u go
So true
I'm so pissed. I didn't watch your videos before I got this surgery. Everything you said is what he did
How r u feeling now have u recovered? Which surgery did u have ?
@@amgh4743 I had a hemorrhoidectomy. The recovery was about 3 to 4 weeks of excruciating pain, they gave me oxycodone (something I'm allergic to) and refuse to give me any more pain meds because I might become addicted.
I had that surgery back in November of 2023. I'm still feeling a little bit of pain on my left side
Have fissures I’ve just recently recovered from hemarroids and I need this cactus like feeling to go away from my anus please give me some advice I don’t want surgery I’ve been taking sitz baths and apply ointments but nothing helps 😢
I should have known when I asked my general surgeon how long I will still be in pain on my 10 po and he told me: "That it's a praying situation and I must just pray that I wake up one morning without pain" Like what the hell type of answer is that? Anyway here l am 7 months later with severe chronic pain. I went to see a Proctologist 2 days ago and she booked me for Anoplasty
All surgeons minimize the time and pain of recovery, in my experience.
@indigobunting2431 yeah because if they’re honest hardly anyone would go through with it. They’re in the business of making money and surgery makes them the most cash.
My surgeon warned me, but in a joking way, not informative.
That's horrible 😞
I'm so lucky to read messages from people like you who have gone through such pain. I'm trying my best to prep before surgery. I just hope the pain meds help abit
I need u as my doctor! 😢
Had a fistula removed and anal seton placed. Now I have to go back for another surgery. The pain was moderate and yes my doctor was not sympathetic at all.
Well why don't you explain what you mean and how bad is it? how much time you need? and what pain meds you need?
totally agree. i had a hemorrhoid banding. before the procedure i want to make sure i can get back to work and i ask them they said yes i can get back to work so i did my hemorrhoid banding. they didn’t educate of what will like after the procedure. i regret having the procedure afterwards. right away the feeling somewhat strange like you want to urinate but having difficulty urinating and also the feeling of passing stool. its like my butt is telling me that i have to go to the bathroom. 2nd day my hemorrhoids became worse its swollen and painful and having difficulty to pass stool. having frequent bowel movements which make it worse and painful to the point that its bleeding. its been my 6th day now after the procedure and I’m suffering from pain and discomfort. i keep calling them and asking for help no prescription drugs to at least give comfort fir my situation. they just told me if experiencing pain and bleeding go to the emergency. this is the reason i found your channel i keep on searching the internet to educate me on how to manage the pain and take care of my hemorrhoid. what diet i should i have etc.
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Try cutting out all meat dairy eggs and going on a whole food plant based diet. It should help heal much faster
I really would like to know if it’s affordable to take that surgery for who doesn’t have insurance :(
Dr told to my sis u can use Hyderogen peroxide is that okay ?
2 months later and I’m looking really bad down there like I never had the surgery. Now what?
We’re do u go when u need help after your medication runs out
The recovery is pure hell...worst pain i have ever been in...I am literally in bed now post op day 2 in tears
How are you right now?
ulcer goul in throat van surgery plz reply
I'm on mid week 3 still in pain and my Dr said your sill sore no way
What treatment and medicine would you recommend for me? since I have had two anal fistula surgeries.
Guys if you live in NYC , just go to dr.Fulmes , he does numbing injection which lasts 2 weeks
How do you do no. 2 after the surgery ?
Its the straining on the toilet i think that takes the tail end to the problem zone
On the other end of it it’s better to be in a little pain than to get hooked on pain killers. It’s an estimated 3% to 19% of people who take prescription pain medications develop an addiction to them. We have nearly 100,000 Americans dying from opioid addiction each year. It’s good to switch to over the counters sooner than treat opioids as a dependable savior. I personally know more than one person who had opioids destroy their life and it started with doctor prescriptions and not street drugs. Seeing someone die of street drugs according to statistics forgets the part of their story where years earlier they started liking opioids too much after surgery.
Look up Dr scott Baker in Sioux Falls SD... he did my surgery in 2018... I've been scared of a follow up since
Canadians can't run away, as they've usually waited months/years. thx, though.

I got a fistula surgery but the pain and muscle spasms in my lower part bcuz of it made me constipated even tho my diet was very good
And bcuz of it i had a really bad fissure that is refusing to heal rn
True
I am a victim of this.
Sounds like my doctor before and after two surgeries, now I’m looking for another because I’m going through the same problems and I’m about ready to say to hell with any of these doctors and just learn to deal with the pain and discomfort as best I can. At 60 yrs of age who really gives a shit anyway, we’re just another source of income for these so called proctologists/specialists that say they give a crap!!!!
Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about. It’s not right at all!!
All these doctors in my town just care about the money. They see us as dollar signs $
