I love everything about this off grid life we've chosen, except how far we are from emergency services. This week was a rough one. Joe had to rush me to the ER in the middle of the night. This emergency totally highjacked what was supposed to be a "supply run" vlog. But such is life right? Thanks for joining us for another video. I love watching videos of Alaska, but I don't like watching videos when there is no conversation. I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital 6 days after having spinal fusion surgery with a UTI . I thought the pain was from the surgery, never had a UTI before. The ER was mobbed and I was in terrible pain. You are correct about the catheter instantly relieving the pain. I was admitted to the hospital on a IV of antibiotics because the poison was all through my bloodstream, meaning I came home from previous hospital with infection. I was 3 days in hospital. Antibiotics worked quickly and catheter was removed next day. You have my sympathy, it's a horrid situation to be in, especially around the holidays.Praying for you 🙏

My husband and I have been watching your channel for a few months now and we look forward to your new videos every week. We thank you and your husband for your military service. My husband was in the Navy and knows what a sacrifice it is to serve. You and Joe should feel very proud for standing up for your beliefs and not backing down. Keep speaking your mind and keeping things totally real. Unfortunately in today's society people are ridiculed for what they believe and say, so we really appreciate your honesty. Like I said before- you guys are my fave RUclips channel. Just ignore the naysayers… If you get a another UTI, take cranberry juice or pills. It will knock it out very quickly (I’ve had several over my 43 years of life).
Spoke too soon before watching the rest of the video. Not sure if cranberry juice/pills would help with this particular uti… but in normal situations, they work, Happy birthday to Joe and great Job, Parker, with helping your mama out! I hope you feel better Tina!
I suffered from many uti and cystitis but I started taking a cranberry tablet every day and touch wood I never got another one or if I did it was very mild compared to the crippling ones previously

I’m a nurse ,at times I can’t go to the toilet ,I ended passing blood one day ,I know and feel the pain you are experiencing, what I have learned is drink more than 3-4 litres a day and won’t let my bladder store a lot of urine ,if you work with me you will see me running to the toilet every now & then ,, I also make sure that I eat fruits to prevent constipation.take care and don’t let rude peeps let you down ,, you’re amazing ❤

I ended up in the hospital for a week over this same issue. I had a really rough go of it. I am so glad that you were able to have Joe get the catheter out for you and most most thankful as well that you were able to pee on your own 💕 Having Joe do that for you just shows the immense amount of love and trust you both have for each other. You are blessed. And Parker is an amazing compassionate young man. You both have done so well with him. God bless you all and I hope those antibiotics get down and work for you to get that infection out of your system.

My grandmother always said drink cranberry juice or apple cider vinegar helps with UTI. Hopefully that can be added to your remedy box. Best wishes and a speedy recovery. And Parkers indorsement of Alaska was so sweet.
I agree....it has to be that non sugar, nasty tasting cranberry juice. Somehow that old remedy works. Everything natural...nothing synthetic. Tina might keep some in her pantry for future use.

There is an over the counter medication for uti called AZO. I doesn’t replace a dr and antibiotics but may reduce discomfort. Discuss this with you pharmacist and Dr

On how life can be off grid with minimal supplies of town. Well sometimes you have to get to town, for a supply run, everyone does need some spare parts and hardware to fix things around the place, No one can't without, they all need spices coffee flour ammo etc. self-sufficiency and off grid living, doesn't mean that people have to live so remote, that everything has to be flown in twice a year? We homeschooled our girls (graduated 2012 & 2015). One daughter’s graduation gift was a trip to Italy with a group and Mr. Landry.😊 Also, a first aid class for your whole family might be a real benefit to your family. Wonder if any neighbors might have an EMT or nurse in their home? 😉

Lucky you have a hubby who will do those things for you. I had a tumor removed and my surgeon was in my room and decided to take out my catheter. He called in a male nurse and showed him the “new” catheters. I wanted to punch him…lol. They have zero sense of modesty in the hospital. Mine never burned though and I felt absolutely nothing when it came out. Don’t let the trolls bother you Tina. They travel channels just to reek havoc and sit back and watch. Most are probably not your regular subscribers.

Tina, delete comments that are unkind. You have a family channel and negative comments are not welcome. Discard them, you are better than these negative, probable bots. I’m sorry you weren’t feeling great over the holidays. AZO (aka Pyridium) is a great over the counter product that will help with symptoms until antibiotics kick in. (It’s the little pill that turns your urine orange.) I’m an RN and my husband is a Pharmacist. He recommends keeping some on hand but use as the label suggests. It is such a great product that works in conjunction with fluids, Vitamin C and antibiotics. I’m glad you knew to deflate the bulb of the catheter prior to removal. Sometimes there is value in teaching you how to use your catheter to bladder train over a day or two prior to removal. It’s better than inserting and removing a catheter a couple of times. But, none the less, you are getting better daily. God bless you. P.S. we aren’t giving medical advice, just a couple of suggestions if you feel they apply to you.

A urinary infection is obviously no joke. Glad you got onto things so quickly. Housework always keeps, so not to fret. I had a Mercer infection while going through breast cancer (mom was in a nursing home). My friend told me about "5 thieves oil". It is a combination of cinnamon, lemon, rosemary, clove and eucalyptus. I used the oil in my diffuser and had my husband clean the surfaces with the "young living household cleaner". Stay well and healthy. ❤

When you go to the bathroom to pee lean forward then sit upright and lean forward again it helps to empty your bladder. It helps so much. Sending prayers
I just found your channel about a month ago & I love it. Some people get their thrill tearing others down. You addressed it perfect! I’m am one of those women who are prone to getting UTIs. There is an over the counter product called AZO that numbs you when you pee that is a tremendous help with the pain. It’s just a pill you take & it turns your pee bright orange. I just saw this video and it is the first one I have seen of you. First, talk your little head off all you want. I love it! It’s just like me and how I talk. If people don’t like it, they can go somewhere else. I get my feelings hurt a lot too because people say I talk too much. It’s nice to know that other people’s normal doesn’t have to be our normal. Also, my mom was an ER nurse and we heard all kinds of horrific stories over dinner growing up. I should have been in the medical field. I just love it, every graphic detail. Happy birthday Doc Joe! So proud of Parker for praying for and tending to his Momma. Sounds like a family first aid class would be beneficial. We love your channel. You mentioned a ‘lazy bladder’. Talk to your health care provider about physical therapy to help with that. It helped me, kinda weird, but it helped. Cranberries and blueberries both have an enzyme that helps prevent UTIs. As a nurse I tend to ignore when I am sick, as you know this can get you into real trouble. In May 2020 I ended up in hospital, for 8 days, after ignoring abdominal pain. I had sepsis and almost died, they had to put catheter into my bowel to drain an abscess. I had a complication and had pain of 15/10; so needless to say I said yes to morphine. You did great Tina, wishing you a speedy recovery.

I feel your pain. While I do not live in Alaska my week has consisted of OTC UTI treatment, UTI test, appointment at the walk in clinic. Two days later in the ER in extreme pain due to the infection that the clinic said I didn't have. Now taking antibiotics for bladder infection, kidney infection and inflamed bile duct and liver. Thank GOD for accessible medical care. I pray you are well soon.
