      I'm so glad you fin the content useful. For the foiled stickers you need toner, thus a laser printer. Inkjet printers won't hold the foil, so nope, you can't use them for foiling. You can, however, use inkjet for colored stickers.

    Great video! I have been trying to foil on clear sticker paper for some time now (it's the one from online labels). I have the problem that the foil adheres to the complete sheet instead of only the printed parts. I also use the transfer folders for the Minc Machine. I have this problem with my laminator, so I purchased a Minc machine, because I thought that would be the solution because you can choose the amount of heat. But I still have the same problem on the lowest heat setting. Could it be that my Minc machine gets to hot?

    • @spookystationery5166
      @spookystationery5166 3 года назад +1

      It likely means you're using the wrong type of foil. One type has adhesive added to it, so it will adhere easily to anything if you heat it. It's used for 'hot stamping'. The other foiltype is NOT adhesive, and will only stick if you use something with it, like melted toner.

    I feel dumb but... how is it laminated when you take it out if you peel off the transfer pouch? I’m confused how it got laminated underneath there. I have purchased paper to print on, foil paper, and am about to buy that pack of transfer sheets and a laminator, and use my local laser printer for the designs. But I feel like I’m missing something because I don’t understand that lamination

    Thanks for this tutorial! I have used the Online Labels clear glossy paper, but when I send it through the laminator, it doesn't only stick to the laser ink, it sticks the the whole sheet! Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    • @AwesomeSVGs
      @AwesomeSVGs  5 лет назад

      I’m not sure what it can be. Id try to clean the sheets thoroughly before and after printing to make sure there aren’t any specks of dust to which the toner could adhere. Sometimes the static can attract loose bits of toner, so try not to rub your sheets with a wool like cloth or against each other thus avoiding static buildup. I tried using an anti static embossing powder tool, but it only made it worse. Using a humidifier in your room can help.

      What type of foil are you using? It sounds like you're using foil that has adhesive added to it. You need toner foil, which has no adhesive, and will therefore only stick to melted toner.

    Great video, but I must have missed a step watching the video: If you are using the laser printer to print your images for foiling, why did you mention NOT using Cricut's print then cut? I am confused, because I saw the registration marks on your sheet of sticker paper and you used the cricut to cut the stickers out after foiling them. Could you clear this up for me, I really want to try this. THANK YOU!

    • @AwesomeSVGs
      @AwesomeSVGs  6 лет назад +1

      I usually bypass Cricut’s Print Then Cut because, being a web based software, image resolution is noticeably lowered, thus affecting the end result of your work, specially with high resolution graphics. I use an alternative method to keep the image original resolution and take advantage of my printer capabilities. Once I print outside design space, I return to it to cut the outlines.
      Here’s the link to the video that shows you how to do that ruclips.net/video/8Ng2VLFfoUM/видео.html

    Do these have to be freshly printed on a laser printer to work or can i make some prints save them and foil them with the laminator later?

    • @AwesomeSVGs
      @AwesomeSVGs  6 лет назад

      You can save them for later. Laser toner is basically a plastic that your printer melts on your paper surface, so it is not going away. I would recommend to store them using some kind of tissue paper in between to avoid scratching though.

    • @AwesomeSVGs

      I know there are other options using foiled vinyl, but the results are not that crisp and it doesn’t give you as much small details as toner does. If you are planning on selling stickers, buying a laser printer is a small investment and you’ll be giving your customers a cool and professional product.

    • @AwesomeSVGs

      It shouldn’t be a problem. What I do when I buy pre cut sticker paper is print on a sheet of copy paper that is obviously cheaper and then put the sticker paper on top and hold it against a light to see how well they align. That way you don’t waste any expensive labels.
