Thank you sooo much for this. I've been so unhappy with everything about foiling with my Cricut. I really haven't wanted to start investing in the whole hot foil plate and glimmer machine thing. Your method shows me that there may hope for success. Thanks again for sharing your creativity.

Honestly the Foil Transfer Tool made me very unhappy too. Im very underwhelmed by it, but the Foil Quill is *chefs kiss* I hope you have a bit more luck with this tool!

@@KellyRossouw Me as well. I didn't try foiling again after the initial try. This video has given me options so I'm excited to try again! Plus, I'm purchasing your "Cricut Print then cut Jumpstart" work book.

I haven't been very happy with the foil transfer tool either, however, without actual foil it is a perfect tool to make sure you put those accents where you want them when coloring your dies. The scoring tool can be hard to tell in design space where those details with go. The foil transfer tool is a lot cleaner. I only have a Cricut Explore Air 2. So I don't know if the heat one will work. I do love this whole idea of making these stickers. It's a great idea for a command center spot in your home. Happy Crafting from Phoenix, AZ.🤗❤️

So true! The foil quill will still work for you with your Air 2, I used my Explore 3 - the adaptor is the same in both machines :)

@@KellyRossouw Thank you!! I tried to take out the adapter, but I was too scared of it breaking. 😔 Where can you buy a foil quill?? Also, have you ever tried using recollections adhesive sheets for making cutaway cards from scratch?? 🤗❤️

Excellent video as always Kelly, you really are so good at explaining and videoing each step in the process. I have had mixed results with foiling and have never used the print then cut function so I am keen to try them both. I would never have thought to use the foil function in this way, you really are so very clever 👏👏. I love how you are able to think outside the box and stretch Design Space to get the most out of it. Thank you for sharing another great tutorial. ❤😘

I may have missed this, but did you use a laser printer with toner activated foil or an inkjet printer with hot foil? And does it actually matter? Thank you Kelly

    Hi Kelly!
First of all, I love your videos. You are one of my favorite content creators, if not the best. I have a question for you. I have been an owner of a Portrait 2 for several years. I still use it and I own the Business Edition of Silhouette Studio.
I was about to buy the new Cameo 5, but I've heard there are some problems with this model. Initially, I wasn’t considering a Cricut for two main reasons: the software is online, and the Maker 3 has been out for several years, so I think a new model might be released soon.
So, what do you think about buying a Maker but designing in Silhouette Studio? Is it a better option to buy a Cricut instead of a Cameo 5 given the issues people are experiencing? Or is it better to wait a few months for a potential new model release? Have you heard anything about a possible new model?
    Thank you very much!

    • @KellyRossouw
      @KellyRossouw  Месяц назад +1

Ah thank you so much! That's so kind!
I still prefer Silhouette Studio to Cricut Design Space for many things that I work on. Design Space isnt as bad as many make it out to seem, but because it is online it has significant draw backs. Neither software is perfect, we just have to learn to live with the drawbacks, and figure out which ones are deal breakers for us.
With the release of any new machine there will ALWAYS be problems, and most of the time I have seen they are user related (which is great news because then they can usually be easily fixed). That being said, I havent had the opportunity to work with the Cameo 5 yet, nor looked too much into their issues, as I have way too much on my plate at the moment!
I still prefer my Cricut when it comes to cutting everything else, but also still actively use my Cameo 3 for when I need to use print then cut often (though sometimes im lazy and use my Cricut as the effort to pull out my cameo isnt worth the space I save on my page lol).
I would personally pick a Maker over a Maker 3 unless you are planning to cut decals longer than 24" regularly. The original Maker is still a FANTASTIC machine, and regardless of whether there is a new model coming out soon or not (which I honestly have no idea/info on), I would probably still pick the Maker.
      Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for all your responses. I live in the Canary Islands, Spain, and I have called some shops, but they all tell me that the Cricut Maker has been discontinued for more than a year and a half and that it is no longer possible to buy it, at least here. It’s true that the Maker 3 is not cheap, so after having read you, I think for now I will keep following you and wait for an opportunity arises to buy a Maker 3 at a good price (since the Maker is not available where I live) or see if the issues with Silhouette get resolved (such as the breakage of its pinch roller). I am attracted by the wide variety of tools that Cricut offers and its better cutting quality. I’ll have to wait a bit longer... If I’ve been using my Portrait for over 5 years... I think waiting a bit longer won’t be a problem... although I am eager for a change to something bigger and with more possibilities. Once again, thank you so much!

I forgot to mention something: I am eagerly looking forward to seeing some future videos from you on designing with Silhouette Studio and cutting with Cricut Design Space, to see how viable that software combination is. Once more, thank you! ❤
