@@christopheryou5040 Well, I did some research and found that the MK23 and USP might be too heavy for me when I turn 21, so I'll have to choose a different H&K handgun. I think that the P30L with a Grayguns trigger (and maybe the Wicked Compensator) would be good pick, what do you think?
I was an armorer at Naval Special Warfare Center (BUD/S) from 1998-2002, and did maintenance on the MK23's and the MP5's amongst the other weapons they used for training. The Seals there didn't care too much for the MK23's, but the SWCC (Boat Unit) guys did, seeing they were using match grade 1911's prior. I did enjoy shooting the MK23's suppressed. Crane (where we got our weapons issued from), sent the MK23' in these flat cardboard boxes, about the size of a small See's candy box, with the suppressor and o-rings. Believe it or not, the SWCC guys checked them out for training more than the Seal Instructors. However, most of the the Seals there loved the Sig P226's. I was there when Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane put the gold anchors on the slides, then Sig decided to sell them that way along with adding a picatinny rail. Great videos!
It is very interesting how the SWCC preferred the MK23 more than SEALs and it’s great to get such inside scoop from someone like yourself in the NSW community, so thanks for sharing this! I know the Sig P226 was favored by SEALs, which is more compact with a much shorter barrel than the MK23. I personally prefer the longer barrel on the MK23, which is quite accurate compared to several of my customized 1911s with match grade barrels. To be perfectly honest, I got my MK23 in 1998 mainly for the novelty of having a special ops pistol that is part of the US SOCOM OHWS, but was pleasantly surprised by its accuracy out of the box and low recoil, after shooting 200 rounds from it the first time! It has since become my only non-1911 .45 pistol.👍🏻
My USP .45 is one of my favorites as well. These days it’s a safe Queen, however am thinking of resurrecting it to be my primary carry gun in the colder months here in central Iowa

A couple years ago, I switched to an HK45c for carry (with about a year's layover with a VP9 in between). The USP remains for home defense, though I am looking to get a Mark 23 and/or USP Tactical next year. Love your content, by the way.

@@erlandjohansen7195 in America, anything shorter then a 16inch barrel is an “SBR” “short barrel rifle” which requires a tax stamp, so we stick “Braces” onto them intended to shoot with one hand to get around that. anything with a brace is considered a pistol, it’s stupid really but that’s how it is in the land of the free
I’ve had my 5 digit USP9 over 20 years. Only had one jam in all those years with A LOT of rounds through it (that one jam was a dimpled casing). ♥️♥️♥️ the USP
Hk P7 Iconic with good reason. Striker fired and fires single action every time with a built in grip safety. Low bore axis and minimal feed ramp lead to its superb reliability. The design is second to none. Was adopted in the early 90s by the NJ state police and was reliable as heck. Unfortunately HK said it was way to expensive to mass produce and be adopted when glock took the USA by storm. But in my humble opinion one of 3-4 iconic modern pistols of our era along with the sig p210, browning High power , 1911, P08 Luger .
My P2000 is still pretty good. Trigger requires you to be used to it, as my brother in law had some difficulty at first. But once you know, you know. If only I got the 9mm instead of the .40....
Should try out the P2000, it's like a refined USPC. I have both a P2000 and a P30L and comparing them side-by-side it "feels" like the P2000 is a little bit smoother and maybe slightly better made, it's trigger is definitely better. The P2000 also carries better because of its grip texture on the sides is less abrasive on your body than the texture on the P30 and VP9.
I carry a P2000SK and beyond the looks, that grip is what really made me want it over a P30SK. Also P30 magazines are backwards compatible with the P2000SK so I can rock 15 round mags with a nice pinky extension compared to the old USPC style mags.
I bought my 1st 1911 new in 1983 and they are still my favorite pistol and are still the pistol I shoot the best. Then, in 2000, I bought a new HK USPc and my world of carry guns changed forever. It was almost the equal of 1911s in shootabilty, a perfect fit for me, and, in my mind, the epitome of the combat pistol. I have owned and still own and carry other good guns, but, I will never be without 1911s and HKs.
I’m also a 1911 man and most of mine are customized for optimal performance, which is the 1911’s major appeal to me until I picked up an H&K MK23 in 1998. It was a bit pricey to me at the time but well worth the $$ for its accuracy and ruggedness from its SOCOM specs, so it has become my only non-1911 .45 to this day👍🏻
Like my P-30...We were trained to know where the hammer is when we had the 1911's in the service..same as the thumb safety..so I bought the V3...very safe pistol.
2 months ago I traded in my Glock 19 Gen 5 for an HK VP9. 2 months later I own a VP9, P30 V3 9mm, and a gently used HK USP 9 V3 as of last Friday, which is my Christmas present to myself.
Very nice list! If it was my list, I would only have one change. I would have excluded the VP9 and in its place I would put the HK P7. Thank you very much for another awesome video!
The P30L isn't just the sidearm of John Wick, it's also amusingly enough the sidearm of Hawkeye in the MCU films where he carries a pistol. He only really uses it a few times, mostly in The Avengers (2012) whilst mind-controlled by Loki.
Growing up in the south and being on AD I'd shot quite a few different pistols. Nothing really blew me away till I got my first HK, a VP9SK. The difference between it and my old carry (XDS) was night and day. I tell people its like driving a old beater Cavalier then stepping into a modern Cadillac.
Proud H&K enthusiast for over 20 years and owner of a P7M8, MK23, SP89 and M1 Super 90. They’ve all served me well and my 2 older kids have also become proficient in handling them in recent years.👍🏻
Been following you for a few years now and I must have missed your HK reviews cus they have been popping up in my RUclips feed for thale past few months now. Great reviews as always. Love my VP9, carry one for work and off duty.
Picked up my first .45 not too long ago. H&K USP expert. I wanted to grab the MK23 but the store had sold it like two months before so… Had to make do.
P7M13 deserves honorable mention at the very least!!! The USP Compact 9x19mm is underrated, for its time it was pretty compact, gave you 13 + 1 when full size mostly was 15 + 1 and still had top notch reliability.
I love my P30L V1 but I feel like HK could have just made a Gen2 USP w/ ambi slide lock/release, 1913 rails, an optics cut, and extended mag releases, and called it a day.
I mean, the P30 and P2000 are essentially still the USP. The modular trigger group set up still uses a lot of the same parts. They're just modernizations of it.
@@IRUKANJII’m surprised HO didn’t include the P2000. From what I’ve heard, the P2000 is better than the P30; I haven’t shot the P2000 but the P30 kinda sucks imho because of the horrible trigger and I’m just not too hot in the grip.
I just got the MP5 22lr(rifle version) today. That little booger is hands down the BEST range toy I’ve ever bought. Already have 300 rounds through it.
Absolutely love my wife's standard VP9 and due to the fact she still loves me barely got me the VP9 Match all decked out with the Holosun multi reticle.
@@redeye8526 respectfully, don’t try and make yourself feel better by adding stuff you’ve bought. Canik makes quality firearms for their price but there are nowhere near the level of HK. Sig is king ofc (and I’ve only ever shot sig guns dont own any) but the other stuff, don’t think so.
When I got my P30s v3, I was less accurate than with other pistols, but I installed the Grey guns flat trigger and short reset system, which was a great improvement. I'd highly recommend that for the v3
@@gordonvanderelst923 I know some people that either love or hate the LEM. I can see it being good for consistent trigger pull. Kinda want DA/SA. Is the SA trigger pull lighter than LEM?
I have a P2000 and the USP Compact. Both are awesome. Stock, the USP trigger is nicer. I dislike LEM. I want the long DA first pull and lighter SA after that. The P2000 is 100% ambidextrous with an adjustable grip size. The USP has the aggressive checkering front and back. They use the same magazine.
Recent HK convert here. The aesthetics and quality feel to the HK is what I love about them. ‘98 USP9 and ‘99 USP9c. Just need a USP45 from the 90s and I’ll be jamming.
Owned a USP Elite in 9mm. Put somewhere in the vicinity of 15k rounds through it and the only time it stopped was because of my reloads. Only got rid of it as it was given as welcome home present to my nephew when he got back from the Ghan in one piece.
I couldn’t agree LESS. I’m 61 former LE and very active shooter from the 70’s on. Sig 226 finest 9mm ever made period. That said I no longer own one. I shoot P30L, my EDC is P2000sk LEM. The 2000sk lem is a gun that goes bang every time and shoots very well. I owned a VP9 for a year, it’s trigger is to short too soft and is the only pistol I have ever had an accidental discharge with in 5+ decades. Having loved the P99 and PPQ for over a decade I could really feel the difference. The ergonomic’s of the VP9 were spot on. That’s why I love my P30L decocker no safety. Great Great gun. My .25 cents due to inflation ! Ps My Holly grail pistol is the USP 40 cal with safety decocker. One day ! It’s my 3rd choice simply because it’s 40 cal but equal to P30L in sweetness !
I love HK‘s. I started with an HK USP compact in .45 and soon after got the HK45c, VP9 bronze, VP9sk, P30L, P30, P30sk. All in light LEM (except the striker VP series of course). The LEM trigger takes a bit of getting used to, but after the Gray guns short reset it’s actually quite easy to get down. The paddle mag release is amazing. You don’t need to break grip and can hit it with the middle finger.
Just picked up an hk usp expert 45 a few days ago. Havent taken it to the range yet but the trigger is as close as you could hope to my $3300 nighthawk custom 1911, less ergo than a 1911 but still comfortable for me
Brother I love MP5's too. Ran a larger regional Swat team for 7 years and it was always my go-to despite having 416's as well. We ordered ours with the Safe, semi, 2 round burst, and full auto. That 2 round burst was some serious shit. 2 rounds sounded like a single shot.
Man, the mp5 k is something I never saw coming, I thought your number 1 post would be the hk 45. But it do agree with you, usp and mk23 are just amazing
My partners dad carries a VP9 and he took me shooting at his own personal range and holy fucking shit it's amazing! I love the mag release, and that trigger was beautiful
I purchased a VP9 right when they came out and sold it the next day. Did not like that pistol at all and I love HK's. Maybe it was just me but it had a weird recoil impulse that instantly turned me off. Have not shot a Mark 23 but like you, it's my Grail gun. Maybe someday. Favorite of mine is the USP line and I had a few. Compact to full size. Never an issue and just plain ran. Excellent video. 👊
I really do hope you see this comment... I am from South Africa and I love watching your channel, you are my go to channel when looking at a handgun. I have an H&K USP Compact in 40S&W and I'm having a really hard time keeping it on target (accuracy wise) compared to my S&W M&P pro in 40S&W. I'm finding it a very difficult handgun to shoot accurately. If possible, I'd love to see you do a video on it.
I own a VP9 and I love it!!! Highly recommended! It seems H&K make quality weapons but br ready to spend a decent amount of money. But, in this case, you get what you pay for. Interested in the USP.
For those who don't know, in the 80's some gun dealers were caught shipping HK guns into Mozambique from South Africa. HK pulled the plug. That's why they are hard to get here. Quite sad. But I'm rocking my dad's VP70z for now
Thanks for the video. I own and use the HK USP 45acp Elite and the HK USP 9mm. Love them both and would not replace them with anything on your list. However, I would love to add the last two on your list to my collection.
Just decided over the course of the months, that I do really want an HK. This video is timely. Really wanting a .45, but the Expert in 9mm would really make me happy too.
Waiting for the top 5 CZ pistols, proud Shadow 2 owner, your video on the Shadow 2 influenced my buy so much! I honestly check to see what your opinion on a gun is before any other RUclipsr because I know you are going to be... Honest! 😂 I love your videos man, I am looking for a polymer gun to add to my collection and am just wondering which CZ to get!
Your top 5 H&K list was spot on. I do however believe that the H&K USP Elite 45 ACP should've been on the list over the P30. At the very least, the Elite should've been an honorable mention. That's just my opinion. Have a great upcoming weekend. Take care!😁
I have owned an H&P USP .45 Tactical approximately 30 years. IMHO, it combines many of the most important attributes of both the USP Expert and the Mk23. It features a 5.1 inch cold hammer forged target quality barrel, an “actually effective” recoil redaction system, target sights, a treaded barrel, 12+1 capacity, durability that allows it to fire an unlimited number of .45 Super rounds, and the matchless reliability of the entire USP series. With countless thousands of every sort of .45 load fired, it has never failed . . . not once. Chris always touts his 9x19mm USP Expert, and there is no question that it is an outstanding firearm; however, the .45 USP Tactical pragmatically can do everything that the Expert can . . . and it is chambered in .45 , which I believe remains the ultimate, generally available, SHTF round.
I had little interest in HK, until I compare some stryker polymer pistols at the SAME time at the range : the VP9 crushed all in every aspect, exept my PPQ but his blocking safety trigger is a no go. I'm actually waiting my second VP9, an OR.
The problem with H&K and the SP5 is that older models did not come with a three lug/threaded barrel and the paddle magazine release. For a short time it was reported that some had a block installed so the buyer couldn't even install an aftermarket paddle magazine release kit. Now days the SP 5 has both features. Of course their price is not cheap. Planned on parting with $2500 and beyond if you want to buy one.
The grayguns short reset system and flat faced trigger , make the P30 a completely different feeling pistol . Also the H&K long slide kit is great upgrade to the VP9 .
Put the GG SR kit and hammer spring in my P30. Polished things up. Still didn't like it. My Berettas and Sig M11 are way better. It had a harsh recoil as well for 9mm. Sold it.
USP 40 works great for me. I prefer it cocked and locked since I used to rock a 1911 and I'm just used to that. Still getting used to DA trigger. Put at least 1000 rounds through it, only problem was how the mag took certain ammo. The overall ergonomics are phenomenal. For me at least. Sights are just okay but not like a glock where you simply have to replace them. I sort of impulse bought it, but my instincts were spot on there.

Only is by "law."
Right there with you brother.😎
I agree with the PSP P7
P7 is still my top. Practically, P2000 would be on my list for a Glock 19 sized gun, although it's not as iconic.
What about the P13 a double stack P7 ?
@@redeye8526 the P7m13 is not as common, and I haven't had a chance to shoot it.
My P2000 is still pretty good. Trigger requires you to be used to it, as my brother in law had some difficulty at first.
But once you know, you know.
If only I got the 9mm instead of the .40....
The P2000 is a nice piece. My cousin was issued that when he worked border patrol
I carry my P7 as often as I can
I am a big HK guy. Huge fan boy. Love my VP9, I have the long slide also. And the VP9SK
Yes, the P2000! Super underrated and seemingly forgotten pistol.
From Cleveland Ohio with love bro. Best guntuber ever.
I'm a FNX45 man, my brother is an HK usp fan. (And I like 'm too, though i'll never tell 'm :-)
Thanks for the vid, appreciate it a lot!
Greets, T.
Very nice list! If it was my list, I would only have one change. I would have excluded the VP9 and in its place I would put the HK P7. Thank you very much for another awesome video!
i Love my VP9. been carrieng it every day for 2 years. just recently picked up a CZ P09
The P30L isn't just the sidearm of John Wick, it's also amusingly enough the sidearm of Hawkeye in the MCU films where he carries a pistol. He only really uses it a few times, mostly in The Avengers (2012) whilst mind-controlled by Loki.
You should look into the P2000, one of my favorite HK's of all time and seriously slept on.
I love my p2000sk. Over 2k rounds of just about every brand of ammo I could find and zero problems. My only gripe is limited holster availability
I love mine!
Excellent video clip variety. Shows how well you cover each gun and the various seasons of use. Agree with your top 5 list as well!
Love my VP9. Wish they would produce a more ccw with double stack. VP9 is super smooth. Great video as always!
Carry is my vp9sk. I decided that would be the one after owning my usp.40 for so long. Absolutely love these guns and neither have ever failed me.
USP Match/Expert is my favorite. Acquired one last week. My first HK was a USP 45 I bought in 1994/95. Great Video!!
Never a doubt what number 1 was going to be!!! Would love to take a MP5K in select Fire suppressed!!! That is my dream range session.
Top 5:
5. USP
4. USP
3. USP
2. USP
1. USP
(Mk23 can be included as it is basically the same design)
i like ur style =)
I mean damn you can at least toss the usp compact on there
Usp 45 full size the man stopper
I mean, the P30 and P2000 are essentially still the USP. The modular trigger group set up still uses a lot of the same parts. They're just modernizations of it.
@@IRUKANJII’m surprised HO didn’t include the P2000. From what I’ve heard, the P2000 is better than the P30; I haven’t shot the P2000 but the P30 kinda sucks imho because of the horrible trigger and I’m just not too hot in the grip.
You just nailed it on this family of HK's, man . Thanks. Totally all in on these pistols. They have everything !
I had a HK USP compact 40 cal when I went to the academy in 1997. I loved that gun. I sold it and have regretted it since.
Best guns in the world.. HK
Nah gimme a Walther , Grand Power , Canik or Sig over HK
I was going to say CZ as well.
Cz begs to differ
@@jki808 hold on. You said don’t make yourself feel better by adding things you’ve bought. Then you added something that you’ve only ever shot
The bursts at the end really put a smile on my face 🤘🏽
Thank you for all these videos. Love the channel. Going to purchase my first pistol soon.
When I got my P30s v3, I was less accurate than with other pistols, but I installed the Grey guns flat trigger and short reset system, which was a great improvement. I'd highly recommend that for the v3
Love the videos ! And thank you and your wife for the awesome content! never had the pleasure of shooting any H&Ks but I hope to get there one day.
I'd have to go with my HK45 ACP. It's the "big brother" to the P30, and I absolutely love it. The Mark 23 (with the comp) is next on my list! 😉
The trigger on the hk45 dosen't compare to the usp. Way nicer for a gun that was designed in the early 90s, late 80s.
Hk fanboi hype! Great video again guys. Made me very happy making this.
This makes me happy. I’ve wanted an HK for a long time now. Can’t decide between a USP compact, p2000, or P30.
Get one that has LEM trigger!
Love watching how these tools work
My P30L has been my main stay since early 2019. Glad I got in before they became close to $1k with Covid. Wasn't surprised to see it here!
Ps
My Holly grail pistol is the USP 40 cal with safety decocker. One day ! It’s my 3rd choice simply because it’s 40 cal but equal to P30L in sweetness !
Only an idiot blames the tool for his own mistakes.
I have a two-tone USP40 that I bought new in 1997. It runs great. It tames the 40 a LOT.
H&K fanboy here: P30, HK45; SP-5 owner. Love em all. Best ever IMHO
Still have my first gun I ever bought back in 1995, an H&K USP. 40 with additional custom JARVIS ported barrel in .357 Sig
Your MP5K is so perfect. Best gun channel on alllllll of RUclips. Respect ✊
Great video I have the USP 45ACP, The P30 & the VP9 All great pistols! Also have several CZ’s
Really surprised that the HK P2000 was not the list. The 9mm V2 LEM trigger is great for concealed carry.
Hated the trigger on my P30 V3 until I installed the Gray Guns SRS. Night and Day difference.
You also can put a LEM trigger in it.
My favorite firearms manufacturer hands down! I own a USP in 10mm myself..
I really do hope you see this comment... I am from South Africa and I love watching your channel, you are my go to channel when looking at a handgun. I have an
H&K USP Compact in 40S&W and I'm having a really hard time keeping it on target (accuracy wise) compared to my S&W M&P pro in 40S&W.
You forgot to mention you love Smith and Wesson brother. I just got a sight ready HK VP9. I love it. Keep up the good work!
Just finally found a brand new USP 9. Paid 900 for it but buy once cry once. Love it and can't wait to get my TLR-7a in for it
The USP 45 was the first handgun I ever bought. Still have it. The HK P2000 is a criminally under-rated gun.
I love my P30sk V3 9mm and P30s V3 9mm 17rd the USP45 V1 and HK45 & HK45C & USP9 Compact will be my next upcoming H&Ks
As always- great video. Thanks.
My favorite is the USP Compact Tactical in .45 ACP.
The MK23, the perfect handgun for a soldier who always keeps you waiting.
Your top 5 H&K list was spot on. I do however believe that the H&K USP Elite 45 ACP should've been on the list over the P30.
At the very least, the Elite should've been an honorable mention. That's just my opinion.
Have a great upcoming weekend.
Take care!😁
Love my P30L and VP9L… the USP expert is on my bucket list.
Most Iconic...and still my favorite Pistol of all after 30+ years...the H&K P7!
Hans Gruber even agreed with me.
I had little interest in HK, until I compare some stryker polymer pistols at the SAME time at the range : the VP9 crushed all in every aspect, exept my PPQ but his blocking safety trigger is a no go.
I'm actually waiting my second VP9, an OR.
Great video as always. I need the Top 5 CZ video like I need oxygen.
We can do that :)
Tactical VP 40 is my favorite as well as the USP .45
The VP40 is probably my next gun purchase. I have a bunch of 40s.
I’ve been buying/collecting guns for 45 years. I have some real gems. But my USP45 Stainless is my precious. HK is over engineered German perfection.
The P2000 never gets any recognition.
Great video!I love my p30 and usp.they shoot great and I’ve never had a malfunction out of either.
I remember back then when HK sold branded swag. I had a pair of HK tactical boots. Straight from HK’s store. Only person I know that had them.
I had the pleasure of shooting the full-auto version at the NYPD range while in the Army; total blast!
