The only DA/SA pistol I have is a Ruger P89 and that thing is a tank! It’s been reliable and accurate! Just a bit heavy for me to comfortably carry all the time.
My first pistol was the HK USP compact 40cal. Still have it, my go to for over 20 years! It makes a 9mm feel like 22lr.. Do Love my CZ-p07 and Beretta 92fs!
The US Secret Service carried the P229 in 357S for many years. That's a high endorsement right there. The P229 Elite (mine is 40/357 & 9) and P-07 are my longtime favorites. Not really favored toward either in 9mm. But, the 229 gives me other options. Nice presentation
They aren't micro, but I have a Taurus TH9C. Springfield Ronin line has a small 1911 in 9mm. So does Kimber. Beretta PX-4 has a da/sa subcompact. Micros suck anyway. But if you want smaller, probably can find a 380 or 32.
@@keithgraham9547 There are a lot of DAO small .32s and .380s, and .38 revolvers with external hammers, but they're not small DA/SA semi-autos. There are some small DA/SAs, but they're larger than the DAO, striker-fired, and direct blowback guns. The smallest are the Beretta tip-up guns like the 21A Bobcat, 3032 Tomcat, and new 30X (improved Tomcat). They're good guns and high-quality but larger than competitors. The Kel-Tec P-32 is smaller than every other semi-auto and DAO. The Ruger LCP pistols are DAO if I recall correctly. The smallest handguns are single-action derringers and mini-revolvers and the one double-action only derringer, the High Standard (still produced by thr American Derringer company, I believe, and available in .22 and .38 Special). But there are .22, .25, and .32 DAOs that are almost as small: the best are Ruger LCPs, Beretta tip-up barrels ("-cat guns"), and the Kel-Tec P-32.
@@Paelorian If you don't insist on a particular kind of action, you can get a 22 really small, or 25. I had a Jimenez Arms 22lr, had a 1.5" barrel, fit in a back pocket nicely. Good yard gun, but very finicky about ammo. Of course, the micro anything is good for about 2-5 yards. Once you get under subcompact, size, IMO, they're nothing I want to rely on over ten yards. That's why I disposed of the J.A and a 380 and went to 357 SIG. Too many crazies and rioters. HK are jerks and won't do a P2000sk in 357 SIG anymore.
@@keithgraham9547 Thank you. The TH9C seems like a nice gun, but it doesn't look much slimmer than my p229. I was intrigued by the Bersa thunder 380s for a while. The standard one seems to be slim enough, but only has an 8 round capacity; whereas the plus version has the right capacity, but is thicker than the g19 iirc. All other 380s and lower calibers seemed to have the same issue.

I love the P220/P226/P229. Those were 3 of my 4 first pistols. They remind me of a time when Sig was a better company and their guns didn’t fire randomly when dropped or in the holster.
Ever tried any of the Tanfoglio pistols?? Been dreaming of a 10mm CZ for quite some time and Tanfoglio fits the bill, they look pretty dang sweet, especially one of the steel frame wonder finish models. Feel like they're up your alley. New moneypit unlocked. Sorry not sorry.
One of my favorites is the Walther P99-SA, and it’s licensed and unlicensed variants. I believe it’s the only striker fired DA/SA (?). Fantastic single action trigger with very short reset.
The only thing keeping from buying a Shadow 2 is the 75 SP-01 Tactical in my safe. It’s my favorite 86lb range toy. Another great option a lot of people sleep on: Betetta PX4 Storm. I’ve had one since they launched, and it’s still going strong. Phenomenal gun all around, and I’m liking the LTT upgrades they’re now doing. @@sealevelbear It would make sense that they do, although I’m not sure how much of a difference that would make in a platform that’s famously tested to 100,000 round in its stock configuration.
I am fortunate to own USP Elites (6" barrel) in 9mm and 45 acp. Their accuracy is breathtaking and once well broken in, the SA pull is crisp and 3.5 lbs. They can both achieve 1" or better at 25 yards.
I hope you’re talking about a specific gun model and forgot to capitalize that S, because sure there’s a lot of get down and boogie striker fired guns in it’s a hefty price tag on them but for the most part they are cheap and easy to find. Damn your sub count is getting up there. Congratulations
The only DA/SA pistol I have is a Ruger P89 and that thing is a tank! It’s been reliable and accurate! Just a bit heavy for me to comfortably carry all the time.
You almost got me!! After #4 I was thinking where’s shadow because I wasn’t expected Cz to be #1and2 (although they should be)👍 great job as always
Nice presentation
no that just means they were the low bidder or the gov't buyer got a kickback
@@dh5341 Sure buddy. I guess all those reliability tests the Army did on the P226 were faked too, right?
The Texas rangers carry the p229
Just bought a P-07 after years of watching your videos. Loving it so far! Another great video as always 👍🏻
Thank you Chris. Please do another for carry
I swear, every time I have a question about guns, this channel has a video that answers it.
Glad to see the CZ in there, I keep the po1 omega with light as my home defense pistol. The only ones I really want are the po7 and the 2075 rami 9mm
I carry a Sphinx SDP Compact TB. Your list is very well balanced with great choices all around.
Really wish somebody would come out with a micro DA/SA.
That's why I disposed of the J.A
and a 380 and went to 357 SIG.
@@coreygraham860I have both p229 and Taurus TH9C. The guns are about the same size. The Taurus may be slightly lighter with a polymer frame but other than that they’re about the same size. I love them both and can’t wait to get my paws on a Taurus TH10.
I love the P09. Last week, I found a .40 P09 to go along with my 9mm P09, and it is awesome. Even fits the custom holster that I had made for my 9mm P09. My Arex Zero 1 and Zero 2 are high on my list also
FNX-FN45, SIG P226 Enhanced Elite, CZ P09, CZ 75 D PCR, all excellent but the CZs are favored.
Daily'd my PCR for years now, no raaagrets
Thank you HO!! I Can’t wait to see part 2!! I love double single actions!
P229 Legion, that DA/SA line I would trust more than the p320 line 🤣
I will say I bought a CZ Shadow 2 compact and really like it, my first hand gun was a Glock 22 (40), then I bought a Walther PPS 40 Cal, great gun. So the CZ Shadow 2 compact is my first 9 carry. But the second CZ that I own. I did purchase the CZ Scorpion micro 3+ previous to getting the Shadow 2 compact from my wife for Xmas. I do really like the CZ line.
Picked up a shadow 2 in December and wow is about all i can say. Incredible pistol
I love the P220/P226/P229. Those were 3 of my 4 first pistols. They remind me of a time when Sig was a better company and their guns didn’t fire randomly when dropped or in the holster.
P226/P227/P229 for me - fantastic firearms for sure.
Roll Tide!!
Yes! Do the same list, but carry focused.
He can’t, it’s a puzzle with no answers
@@sethtenrec I now edc a Sig P229
@@nathansmith9332 my condolences
@@sethtenrec 😂
Ever tried any of the Tanfoglio pistols?? Been dreaming of a 10mm CZ for quite some time and Tanfoglio fits the bill, they look pretty dang sweet, especially one of the steel frame wonder finish models. Feel like they're up your alley. New moneypit unlocked. Sorry not sorry.
The Bersa TPR9C hits the sweet spot for DA/SA.
One of my favorites is the Walther P99-SA, and it’s licensed and unlicensed variants. I believe it’s the only striker fired DA/SA (?). Fantastic single action trigger with very short reset.
P226 and IWI Jericho are my top 2
Love the jericho. I have the steel 3.8inch decocker and the trigger is just great. Really likes to jam when dry unlike alot of guns though
Makes me want to get one in 9mm to compliment the .40 I originally purchased.
I feel the same about my SP-01. The PX4 Storm surprised me on how soft the recoil is. Two of my favorite guns next to my P30L.
Sig 220, the 226's Daddy. I have had mine for years and will never sell it. THE GOAT.
You could make the same case for a CZ 97B/BD
@@Eisernkreuz Except it came after the 75b. The 220 was the Daddy of the whole Sig 220+ metal frame pistol line.
Excellent top 5 list, people who haven't shot a CZ 75 or a high quality variant like a Tanfoglio are really missing out.
Taking a wild guess on your #1 before the end of the video: CZ Shadow 2. Lol
I am waiting for the compact version to hit 800 and then I am trying it out for myself.
Tried the Shadow 2 because of you. GREAT GUN.
Probably gonna get the compact.
Love the USP 45 shft go to
Great video! Please do a part 2 follow up on DA/SA carry guns. That would be incredibly helpful for me and a number of others who have commented as such.
FNX 45 & S&W digit series (59/459/5906) are up there for me.
Great list! I only carry hammer guns. I love the added safety layer and function they provide. My list is; HK P30, Beretta 92G, Sig 938 legion and CZ 2025 BD Rami. All great carry guns!
FN FNX-45 Tactical
I (like everybody else) wanted a Shadow 2 but don’t have the $’s… I bought a SAR K12 Sport X which is a Turkish version of the Shadow 2.. and it’s stainless and SAO. I saved enough for a premier local range membership and lots of ammo. I’m very satisfied. (This channel has a positive review of this pistol)
Arex Zero 1 should be on this list! Absolute workhorse
I've been carrying a rex 01S for 3 years now. I'm still working on perfecting that first trigger pull but the SA trigger pull is butter👍🏻
Anytime I need a review or advise your right there! Amazing!
My list would be:
1. Langdon 92
2. HK USP
3. HK P30
4. PX4
5. S&W Gen 3 semi autos
PX4, absolutely. Fell in love with mine the moment I shot it 10 years ago, and I've only grown to love it more since then.
now thats a real list...the longevity of beretta hk sig and s&w is insane compared to the new czs...They might shoot well but there isnt long enough record to show how good they are...especially with those cheap design firing pin stops on the p10...that shit is plain scary...
Man seeing how amazing Langdon made the 92 makes me want to try their version of the P30. I don't know anyone who ever owned a Langdon P30 to know if it's worth it
I've had the P225 A1 (it's like a mini P226) for years and I really love it, wonderful engeneering, reliable, and accurate. It is 8+1 capacity...I live in NJ.
I’m surprised you didn’t pick the FNX45 tactical? Double action/single action
Nice video, can you do more da/sa at lower price range?
Why not just make this video the best 4 DA/SA pistols that aren’t a CZ SHadow 2- this is the least suspenseful Outlaw list ever😅
1. Shadow 2
2. Shadow 2 Compact
It’s an amazing gun.
3. Tac Sport Orange
4. CZ 75 Czechmate Parrot
5. Czechmate
In all kidding I clicked because I saw a P226 set up like my Legion RXP
Bruh, it’s his opinion…
And if were the Top 7, there'd be a CZ 75 P-01 and a CZ 75 BD !
Hello Honest Outlaw.
Thank you for this review and what you are doing for the fire arm community and 2A!!!
I appreciate you.
I recognize you.
I acknowledge you.
In the early 80's my Dad was a Browning Hi-power fan. Even owned the limited edition or anniversary with nickel plating, gold trigger and scrolling all over.
Perfect!
I am on the hunt for exactly what you are reviewing.
You are the best on the web with humble marksman.
Many thanks🤠🙏
LTT HK P30 LEM with the Extra Light springs, Gray Guns flat trigger and short reset kit is the best hammer-fired carry trigger I’ve ever shot over the last 30 years
Do you know if those lighter springs wear out faster?
@@sealevelbear It would make sense that they do, although I’m not sure how much of a difference that would make in a platform that’s famously tested to 100,000 round in its stock configuration.
I am fortunate to own USP Elites (6" barrel) in 9mm and 45 acp. Their accuracy is breathtaking and once well broken in, the SA pull is crisp and 3.5 lbs. They can both achieve 1" or better at 25 yards.
Save up and buy a striker, James Yeager said so.
I hope you’re talking about a specific gun model and forgot to capitalize that S, because sure there’s a lot of get down and boogie striker fired guns in it’s a hefty price tag on them but for the most part they are cheap and easy to find. Generally speaking you want to get into reliable, good looking great shooting DA/SA or SAO guns you’re going to spend way more money than what a striker fired gun will be.
I own a Sig P229 Legion optics ready, and recently purchased the CZ shadow 2 compact. I love both of these guns, they shoot great, have awesome triggers, and feel like they were made for my hand. I have been appendix carrying the P229, and it conceals great for a larger carry gun. Great video as always! I'd be interested in a 2nd video on carry DA/SA guns.
First!!!...I liked my own comment too!!!!
Still won't bring your dad back with the milk
Man I love seeing the p07 every time. It’s the first carry gun I ever got. I got the urban grey version. Absolutely love the gun.
