The problem isn’t that Glocks aren’t what they use to be, the problem is that Glocks ARE what they use to be. Not much has changed or been improved with other modern advancements the industry has taken. They’ve been on top for so long they forgot what put them there, a revolutionary product pushing the market forward.
The Intel of the gun world lmao. Spent a decade so far ahead of everyone they kinda forgot how to innovate and all of a sudden they find themselves trying to play catch-up
GLOCK is still the most popular pistol with civilians and law enforcement world wide. GLOCK sells more pistols than all other gun makers. GLOCK makes more money than all other gun makers. Duh they doing something right.
You beat me to that comment. Exactly right. Except for a few minor updates, pretty much what they've been since they came out. But, then again, so am I. At 71, I'll keep my G's. I see no need to update myself. 😆
Definitely hit a lot of points that others would not be willing to say either out of fear of losing their sponsorship, or detracting their fanbase. Great content as always.
@gunrightsmafia9867 tbh, 1911s are just like Glocks. They require LOTS of fixing. I carried a 1911 for years, and I love mine. Still, they're both like a 60s muscle car - gotta spend a lot of time under the hood keeping things running.
@mfuchs2004 yea i know I got 5 1911s and two 2011s and they do need cleaning but that's what every gun if u want reliable guns but I don't know about your glocks but mine run smooth without much cleaning!!! Every person is different on how they use there firearms and some of the same firearms work and some don't aka springfield prodigy just to name one
@mfuchs2004 my pops got a glovk that he had for a year and never cleaned it and it still runs and I know many people on the street level who never ever clean there guns and they use trash mags and some jam and some worked without cleaning
Been following your channel for a couple of years. I’ve bought a couple based on your reviews. And I’ve avoided many for the same reason. Love the fact that you and Mrs Honest Outlaw are the most real people on this platform. REALLY love the Mrs reaction when you don’t check your language! Keep up the good work people! I’m here for you.
I rented one at my local range and the stock sights were basically unusable, there was like an 1/8th inch of daylight on each side of the front sight post when aiming down the sights. I had a hard time getting a good group with it and it's a heavy 5 inch race gun
I personally love Glock, reliable, the grip angle is my favorite (grew up shooting Glocks). Glock is also the only manufacturer that (personally) I have been able to take out of the box and run all the cheap ammo I buy through with no issues or jams.
Years ago, I was having trouble with Speer ammo in my Sig P228. Dented the primers occasionally, just didn't go bang. Fed those through my Glock, and they all went bang. I shoot better with my Sig's (228 and 226) for some reason, but the Glock handles everything I've fed it.
You must not shoot a lot of different guns if it’s the only one that runs cheap ammo out of the box. Most guns these days are reliable. Glock just doesn’t have anything going for it anymore. A lot of brands make guns that are better yet cheaper than Glock.
I’ve had multiple situations where my Glocks have failed. However if I document them, people lose their minds in the comment section. Thank you for the video.
If you ever watch any police videos, officers are constantly clearing malfunctions on their sidearms in just about every service pistol platform they're using.
Great list. I have a Canik TP9SF and a Ruger Security 9. No problems. I'vs run varios Ammo. I know they're base models. No problems, fun weekends at the farm and range.
I shot a friends Canik and my first time with it, shot it way better than my m&ps, and my Glocks that I've been shooting for decades. I'm gonna buy one after not being able to miss any of my targets. The caniks are awesome and cheap for what you get.
TP9SF was a phenomenal handgun for me. The only reason I sold mine was because Canik seemed to retreat from the public for a while to work on fulfillment and logistics issues and there were no holsters at the time. Had I even a little more patience to just set it in the safe and forget about it, I would've been blessed with today's holster selection with an excellent full size handgun.
@@Two_Names had you done a little research you could've kept it and just got a walther p99 holster. It's a clone of that gun ya know. Good thing it's a relatively cheap gun to replace.
Just got my Glock 41 I’ve put 1000 rounds into it not not a single jam yet I clean it about every 300 to 400 rounds too not going to lie yes it is over priced but it’s definitely not overrated
Which I just paid more out the box for my FN509C Tactical and just be done with it. Put over 10k rounds through it. Flawless and the trigger broke in nicely after a couple thousand rounds.
Exactly. Unless you already have a stock of Glock mags and parts (which admittedly many do), doesn’t make much sense as a new gun owner in 2023 to go with Glock. Especially when M&P’s, FN’s, CZ’s and VP’s can be had for so cheap.
@@Nicksarmsit being over priced is one reason they are overrated. Glocks are $300 guns that cost $600. Most guns from the big brands will go bang without fail until the barrel wears out. Glock just doesn’t have anything going for them.
@@hectorrivera6624 No one is saying they're bad. They're good enough but people gush over them as if they're God's gift to the firearms industry which they're not. They're solid, reliable and shoot straight enough for 90% of the population.
@@iamme625 Everyone has their own preferences. Thats why all the bickering. Is a tool, as long as when you pull the thing and it fires a thing whenever you need to, is fine with me. I got plenty Glocks, 1911's, Sigs (P-series and M17) and just suggested a a S&W M&P to my brother who lives in Massachusetts. All good guns, I just like and suggest proven things. My carry is either a G19, G43 and Sig P229.
Feels good to be validated in my opinion on Glock. They're fine, hell they're even good. But I think for what they are they should be cheaper by now, and I've never held one and thought "yeah this feels good." They feel cheap to me, but aren't priced especially cheap. As always, your mileage may vary and this is just, like, my opinion, man. But suffice it to say it's not an accident that I have 14 guns and none of them are a Glock.
You're right about not buying a pistol surrounded by controversy. I was excited about the MC9,but it feels like hit or miss. Decided to purchase a Sheild Plus instead.
@lucasblanchard47 I am truly glad for you. The HO also had no problems throughout a thousand rounds. I just would be beyond pissed if I bought it and had problems. Taking the safe route
@nwaites01 my shooting partner has a Canik Tp9 and has never had a problem with it. I know that they make good pistols. I just won't take a chance on the MC9.
Well, I won't say my M17 is the best gun ever made but I never had any failure to cycle issues after thousands of rounds. It seems to work fine and is a lot of fun to shoot.
It takes some getting used to if you're used to S&W or Glock. I sold my first one. Then years later on a whim I bought an M18. It's performed lights out for me. I shoot less than I used to, but it's been good. First pistol with an optic for me too.
I admit I have had limited exposure with the M17/P320. However I have been very pleased with how it shoots for me. It was my first time with the M17, but I qualified with a perfect 30 out of 30 on the popup target course at Camp Dodge.
What I hear people say about bore axis on the P320 has not affected me. In fact when I've let friends shoot it they are amazed on how little muzzle flip there is. I think it's the alignment index that counts and this pistol comes out on top with that in a full size striker fired gun.
It's incredibly easy to fire at close ranges. I'm sure anyone could qual 30/30 with about any handgun. The Army ranges aren't exactly a challenge. The main issue we've had with it is knowing it will fire if it's dropped. A lot of guys also have jamming issues, but I'm willing to mark that off as user error.
The aftermarket is probably what’s kept Glock alive. I have a 19 and like it but if the gen 5 was cheaper I probably would of went to it before getting a canik, cz and 320.
@@janneman27if you’re going to be a grammar nazi then use proper punctuation yourself. An ellipse is … not …. . Also that’s not how they’re used
Eh... Glock really doesn't need the aftermarket. People who want their Glock to be something it isn't, need the aftermarket. Most should have just bought a different gun. The average person who buys a Glock, including military and law enforcement will never make a single modification, or aren't allowed to. I've seen at least 3 surveys/questionnaires that have indicated as many as 77% of all gun owners shoot less than 3 times a year. If the numbers are even close to being accurate, you can bet there are a lot of Glocks in that group, and those folks aren't tricking out their bedside/carry gun.
The P320 probably has a high bore axis because they designed to be compatible with P250 parts. The P250 was a DA/SA hammer-fired gun released by Sig a few years before the P320 that also had a removable fire control unit. The P320 was really a conversion of the P250 and was also Sig's first ever striker-fired handgun. That it wasn't a total dumpster fire is actually impressive considering how many other companies have jumped into the handgun game and failed epically.
And we have to remember that the 250 was intended to mostly retain holster compatibility with common duty lights, so it was tall by design to take after its 220/225 predecessors. I've long lamented that Sig didn't use the 365 as an opportunity to sunset the p320 and its legacy dna and start a new path with the smaller and by all accounts equally robust and reliable fire control group to build out both a duty gun line and a concealed carry line.
@@EastCoastMan603 what coping? The 320 is a fine gun. A ton of people out there who have no reliability problems, no problems with them going off unintentionally (how come it's all cops? how come absolutely no one has been able to recreate the pistol going off without a trigger pull? drop safety was fixed years ago as well). I have 2, an m18 and a p320 x carry, and both have been reliable, accurate, soft shooting, and just all around awesome firearms. The bore axis argument is old, considering some of the guns a lot of people love (1911/2011, PDP) also have a high bore axis and don't get the hate. I don't know why HO has had so many problems with 320s, maybe the guns are sentient and knows he doesn't like them so refuse to run for him? doubt it. And it's not like I'm all Sig. He mentioned the APX A1 being a better pistol and yes, it is a fine gun (I own one). I shoot the 320 better though. The APX ergos just don't work for me. I think it's a very underrated pistol, with a great trigger, soft shooting, accurate. It just doesn't work with my hands. 320s do. People like what they like.
I have a P250, and while it is a hammer-fired DAO, it is supremely reliable. I have the mid-frame 15 rds capacity model, and it used to serve me as a concealed carry piece until I got an HK P30 V3. I like my carry guns with a hammer.
@@desperateneedofscotch I bought it from a gun store in Merrimack, NH, in 2010 or 2011 I believe was the year. Brand new out of the showcase. Great pistol. I also have a first or second run full size P320. Comparing the two, the P250 just seems, I don’t know, better made maybe? Like just a bit better fit and finish. The 250 came with Siglite night sights, also. The 320 did not.

I've had a couple of Glocks fail on me as well. Decided to go with the Beretta 92X Compact and it has been one of the most reliable guns I've owned. Sent it to Langdon Tactical to work their magic and it shoots great. Might be a bit overpriced because of the custom work, but I carry it confidently.
I've been carrying the Beretta PX4 Storm compact. Stippled the grip, upgraded to tritium sights and dropped in the Langdon trigger job in a bag. A bit heavier than many carry pistols but after thousands of rounds through it I'm confident it will do it's job should the occasion arise.
92X RDO was great for me, but for duty use it had some really annoying rust issues due to the work sites I was guarding at the time (summertime in Arizona, so torrential downpours combined with moon dust on dry days). I stopped using it for duty because of that, and the mags I got with it weren't rust proofed either. I love it as a gun, it's a sexy piece and I'd never hesitate to carry it, but believe it or not, my 19X has served me better as a duty gun for maintenance reasons alone, and my DR920 War Poet has done even better for that purpose.
Gallatin TN Berettas definitely have more QC issues than any Austrian built Glock. That said when you get a good one the 92x RDO has a phenomenal trigger.
My experience with Sig as a manufacturer (all inclusive - across all products) is that if it's gonna be a good one, it's gonna be good right out of the box and if you have to start searching for little fixes or mods to make it work, it will never be right.
That seems to be the case with most gun manufacturers nowadays cheap and expensive. I’ve had sigs that had issue after issue and then on the other hand I’ve also owned cheap pistols like kel Tec and Taurus that are dead reliable . Quality control seems to be inconsistent
What about aftermarket parts from SIG like a Spectre comp slide on the xMacro grip? The combination was appealing so I had to put it together and it shoots decent enough to rely on it for personal protection. Only had a couple malfunctions due to a novice limp wrist and maybe some dry slide rails. Lube and a firm grip solved all the malfunctions I was having.
The only bad glocks are the ones in the last two years that slipped through shitty quality control. Other than that and the outdated feature set, they're a pretty decent gun. I have 2 of my own and they are incredibly reliable. Only started having jams after like 3-4 range trips where I didn't clean them.
Idk if I can call them overrated, that’s like calling a Honda civic over rated (it’s but it’s just popular) I’d say like that car they’re one of the most cost effective that check the most boxes for the average person. It’s popular because there’s a lot of people.
I can definitely agree on the P320, even though that is my EDC firearm. I’ve never had any issues and I’m 2200 rounds through it now, and it feels great for me. However, I can’t really recommend it for anyone unless you try it out. I got my direct from SIG so not sure if that helped. If you’re going to get a SIG nowadays, go with the P365XL or XMacro if you want an alternate to P320, because those do everything better than the P320 for about the same size and better capacity. I really respect the opinion on this channel and has helped me think about my future purchases.
Depends on the size of the barrel for the P320. I have the Xmacro (3.1"), a threaded barrel for my XL (4.2"), and a threaded barrel for my P320 XF (5.5")...The XF is my home defense, while I swapped slides for my Xmacro and XL...made the larger of those 2 my winter carry, and the smaller my summer carry. For CCW purposes. Still...Zero issues on all 3 platforms. I guess I got lucky 3x in a row. 🤷🏻♂️
Been running a p320 scorpion for about 2 years now, and the p365. Thousands of rounds spent and I’ve personally never had any issues, ever. Now my brother is a Glock guy, ran my p320 and would stove pipe it every now and again. Only concept I could come up with is he was limp wristing the 320. Now is Glock in a hundred rounds that session had multiple FTF.
I’ve had 3-4 Sig P320’s in the past few years. Loved the AXG Scorpion in particular, but must agree on the high bore axis. I moved to a P365 X-macro with the much lower bore axis. I’m hoping that Sig may eventually bring out a P320-sized gun with a much lower bore axis as I do like the size as a sidearm.
It will never happen, their staple is a high bore axis gun, I don't know why they keep insisting on using that same design over and over again. I too moved to the Macro for that reason. Get a CZ P-10, or a S&W M&P M2.0, the reliability of a Glock without the crappy shooting mechanics of a Sig.
Thanks for the comment! I'm relatively new to firearms (a few years), but I heard that they may have built the P320 largely off the DA/SA P250, which I heard also had an FCU. They certainly have invested heavily in the P320 and built a lot of variants, but given that Sig designed the P365 to have such a low bore access (comparatively), I'm hoping that they may bring out something new eventually. It may take a decade, but who knows. I am intrigued with some of the CZ's and will take a closer look. Again, appreciate your comments...@@duty5127
These FCU/cog/chassis things are only as interesting to me as the aftermarket for them. Right now, the P365 is king. The Glock chassis thing from Defense Distributed is interesting, though. The emphasis is on DIY parts as much as possible with home manufacturing tech (3D printers, etc.). If that catches on, with participation from both indie parts designers and established businesses, it could be pretty cool. Assuming they can fix the grip angle and still use glock mags.
@@duty5127 Bore axis don't have anything to do with the way this awesome pistol shoots. It has the best alignment index of any full size striker fired gun. Ref. Guntweaks.
I’m impressed with the fact that your a self professed Glock fan boy but you still put it on this list. Thank you for true honesty. That’s rare these days.
He said a bunch of NOTHING about the Glock EXCEPT the trigger. That's it. How TF does that make the Glock "overrated"? Better features? What features? This guy is dick riding & parroting everybody else.
I know it’s not a “hype” gun but the XD series by Springfield has been an incredible gun for me. I picked up an XD40 several years ago and tens of thousands of rounds later, I’ve never had a single issue

I have 12-1500 rds through my P320 Compact and have yet to experience a malfunction. I agree that if you carry appendix, you might want to consider another option
Im 200 rounds into my p365 and I only had malfunctions breaking it in the first I'd say about 10-20 rounds and a good slide lubing. After that it was smooth sailing.
I think its important to mention a users experience is slowly based off off the particular firearm theh have. I have had an FN 5.7 MK2 long before any of the other manufacturers jumped in the band wagon. Mine has none of the issues that the MK3 has hand in these videos. Ive shot all the different rounds on the market with no misfiring or issues. I think I pickes it up for like a grand back in the day. With that being said I would love to test the newer platforms now that firearm inventory is some what getting better. Thanks for the great videos. Love the one you did on the top 10 under 350.

Love your videos. I’d love to see a video or even series from you regarding the pro/cons of different ammo calibers and manufacturers. I think that would be very well received and welcomed especially by those newer gun enthusiasts.
Actually, the SIG p250 was the first gun to use the fire control unit and it was around for like 10 years before the p320. it just never caught on because although it was modular and had the same chassis system, it was hammer fired.
Sig failed to support the p250 like they said they would. It took years before calx kits became available and they were hard to find when they were in available.
Appreciate the honesty with the glocks ive nearly lost a few friends joking that 1997 called & they want their gun back but theres alot of guys out there that refuse to seriously look at anything else people get blinded by brand loyalty

I bought because so many of my friends were beating me up for running "old" gun like the aforementioned G19, my beloved p226, etc. I decided to see what a newer tech, more recently designed bit of kit could do and there was a huge sale on the coyote brown X-carry so I bought one. Hot damn, does it shoot! Ludicrously accurate, quick, and reliable to date with no issues. But, yeah, not gonna carry it pointing at my junk. I'm nervous carrying it period. I have had Glocks, various models of Beretta, and a few others, but my P320 shoots like a dream for me. @@mi_cheap_guns2925 This one is, I spent all day polishing the complete trigger group, it was a pain in the ass but worth every minute. I'm telling you, the reset is immediate. I'm not positive but I'd guess about a 3lb trigger.
Could not agree more on everything on this list. I have experience with all of these. The only one I own is a Glock and it isn’t because I really wanted it, it is because it takes the same mags as something else that I own. This is why I like your reviews. You see through the hype and everything and see specific models for what they are even if you do like them on some level (or even love the company as a whole).
I like glocks.... But you have to realize in my mind they are a $300 gun. I bought a 17 a 19 and a 21 all for around 300 each. Used law enforcement pieces. It's not like cops put many rounds through their pistols as a rule. For normal pistol prices you can do a lot better, but for three bones you can't beat the glock... Well maybe you can....
I owned one of the first Desert Eagles in .44 Magnum when they were made by IMI. I had zero issues with mine and it never jammed with any ammunition I used. Those original models could fire lead bullets so long as it had a gas check, it was in the owner's manual. Remington had a 240 lead gas check load back then and again, zero issues. I would not buy any Desert Eagle unless it was one of those.
Sad to hear you had two Glocks with problems. My first Glock was back in the late 80's with a serial number stating in 'A". Went to a G22 and carried an original Gen and then a Gen 3 for two different agencies totaling 40 years. I never had a Glock fail me.
Same. Never once any issue. Carry over for a living & qualify 2x a year. Dozens of other Officers & NOBODY ever has an issue. I'll bet my man limp wrists or shot garbage ammo & blamed the gun.
I'm glad someone agrees with me about p320 and glocks. Great guns but for the price things like the pdp, vp9 and cheaper m&p 2.0 and cz exist. And I've had Glocks now for 20 some damn years. Stock p320 grips feel so cheap too its like they just expect you to buy a replacement.
Too bad M&P 2.0s and even junk p320’s are just as expensive as Glocks are. As a matter of fact at my local FFL’s MP’s and p320’s actually cost $50-$100 more than a comparable Glock. My local FFL charges ~$600 for a gen 5 g19, and ~$700 for a M&P 2.0 compact and a Sig m18.
@@9770G I'd still pay it. It's the better gun. I have both. Actually have all of the striker guns. VP9 is my favorite followed by pdp and 2.0. Glock is just above Ruger.
@@9770G Too bad M&Ps have better sights, triggers, ergonomics, and looks. An M&P shield 2.0 can be had for under $400.. So no, they're not just as expensive
@@TTime685 too bad everyone changes out their stock sights on Glocks AND M&P’s. Too bad stock Glock triggers are more than adequate and if not u can just buy Glocks performance trigger for $80 which is every bit as good as any other striker fired trigger. And too bad the last two u listed are 100% opinion and not fact. But here’s a fact for u. Glocks have the longest and most proven track record in handgun history for both LE & military application. Oh and here’s another fact, glocks are the best selling handgun brand in history. Cope 🥱
Thank you! Glocks are great, but it's hard to justify their prices when their big selling point is simplicity. Other manufacturers do what they do for less money.
All the major pistols (M&P, XD bleh, p320 etc) are around the same price as a Glock. Some of those are made in significantly cheaper to produce countries (read the XD which is the only one that is appreciably cheaper). I have a feeling you’re talking about the likes of Taurus and Co and sorry no one cares what they do for less, they’re shit guns.
@@adama4791 nope. I'm talking about what you get from most other manufacturers for the money. Stock Glocks have plastic sights and guide rods, pretty mediocre triggers, no optics cuts, kinda trash stippling and iffy ergonomics. You can get better features in other striker fired polymer guns for the same price without buying aftermarket parts.
@@mattatomattahto polymer guide rod is fine, trigger works, gen 5 texture is solid, MOS exists so yeah you change the sights but other guns aren’t leaps and bounds better. Good grip and shooting technique are more important. Also ergonomics are subjective. For instance I don’t like the palm swell ergos of the VP9
At the end of the day you buy a glock because you want a Glock. I don’t have to justify the price of a glock when a M&P is $10 cheaper when what I want is a glock. At the end of the day striker fired polymer guns are striker fired polymer guns so you justify it by buying the one you like.
I got my Canik Mete MC9, as my first semi-auto, recently, because of these reasons... Better ergonomics, a much better trigger, metal sights etc. At least a couple of hundred dollars cheaper (I wasn't looking for anything expensive), and looks much better... Glocks are known for being very reliable - but I've never really liked their very basic, blocky look.
Talking about the Archon Type B reminded me of Daddy Thumb's review, when he compared it to the Sig P320, and he talked about how "physics and science and sh¡t" came into play to reduce the muzzle flip, on the Archon. His deadpan delivery of the line was awesome.
SIG 250 preceded the 320 with a modular fire control group, with caliber exchange kits available in 9, 40, and 45. There were various frames available. All were met with a big yawn because the 250 was hammer fired double action only. I have one.
I started with Glock and many of their Gen1 variants, innovative and the best version of the striker-fired pistol - 20 years ago. I loved them and wore them out. I grew up and was ready for new pistols, I had the good fortune of trying many different brands. I ended up going primarily with the CZ pistols - both their striker and hammer guns. I wouldn't call CZ innovative, but far from overrated.
I just never could get into Glock for the same reasons mentioned. For the money there was just stuff I liked better that worked just as well if not better. Currently main a vp9 and cc a cannik mc9
Havent had any issues with the Sig P320 XC and it has been accurate and reliable for a small self defense weapon...a bit snappy but controllable and Im 70 yoa. My favorite small pistol for hot weather concealed carry is my Sig P238. Mine is a tack driver at 30 feet. For all round fun shooting, Im a 1911 guy, but I do love Every Cannik Ive ever shot . Own 2 now.
Great video as usual. 100% agree on the Sig 320 being overrated. Good firearms but Sig is very proud of them and their prices reflect that, at least in my market area. Plenty of other firearms in the same category and function as well or better. Sig triggers are not that great and lately their Quality, especially in their coatings has been marginal at best. I have had most all variants of the 320 and I now have none. Do a torture test of the 320 like you did the Echelon, I doubt it would hold up as well as the Echelon did, would be interesting to see.
My first gun was a Glock 17. Still have it and I love it. Haters usually hate on the looks, the grip, the trigger, and the sights. All valid. At the time I tried about a dozen different 9mms and that’s what I shot the best as a novice and it was in stock. It has alway run flawlessly for me and I didn’t know triggers to know any different. I currently own 3 glocks. Just put in their performance trigger in my g26 and it is a major improvement. Wish they did something like it for gen3 and gen4 models. Agree they need to continue pushing the envelope and make incremental improvements over time to continue to be relevant ans they have not
I upgraded my G19 with a Timney trigger (shoots way better than a stock trigger) and some other parts which make it my favorite gun to carry at the range. I carry the G43 and G26 the most though since they are lightweight. Most of my Glocks are stock since that's the most reliable configuration
Not trying to hate, but shoot a canik, any canik. After that the only reason you’ll be picking one of those glocks up is for old times sake. All it took for me was putting a mag through a tp9sfx to make me a Canik customer for life.
@@traxxasrcfun I’ve heard great things about Canik and if I were looking for another 9mm, I’d give them a look for sure. I’m in the market for a 45 now, trying to decide between a polymer or a 1911 because I likely won’t get both.
ive shot the desert eagle in 50AE, i wouldnt say its overrated because im also a gamer, and i feel like most people kinda know that its heavy, big, has alot of recoil, and not alot of ammo. but i think its popular because its big and shoots big bullets, but also looks cool. personally i would say most people who have a desert eagle have it as kind of a novelty than an actual like self defense or carry/duty pistol.
Yeah, it's obviously not generally the best carry gun, yet it was basically the only thing that passed Garand Thumb's mud test. They're more reliable than this guy gives them credit for. He probably doesn't maintain the damn thing properly to have it hanging up like that constantly, plus of course you go with 50AE if you're going to own a Desert Eagle. If your enemies are hiding behind cinder blocks, you might just prefer that hand canon.
It's not a CCW but for hunting and other types of shooting. They generally perform well and since they are gas operated they need to shoot ammo that generates enough power for it to cycle correctly.
These kinds of videos make me glad that I bought a PDP. And for the record on that, I decided on the PDP because of the video reviews here. It’s so good.
I’ve carried a Glock 43 for years then upgraded to a 43X and I love it. It just fits well in my hand and feels right but now I’m thinking of upgrading again. Probably to a IWI slim or the Canik. I’d be perfectly happy with my 43X it is the perfect carry gun for maybe 10 years ago. The simplicity and reliability are not exclusive to Glock anymore and other guns have went above and beyond now. It feels weird to say but it’s true.
I don't think it's weird. We're living in one of the best eras ever for firearms in terms of all different price points performing at least good enough all the way up to fantastic.
It's over rated. The dagger is like 300 bucks and doesn't have the following the glock does. Glock is a better pistol than the dagger, but it's wayyyyy more over rated
I think EVERY gun manufacturers' QC is down the last 2-3 years. I've had to send a shield plus and an lcp max back to the factory. Not to mention the Plus had 3 magazines that had faulty springs and had to be sent back. No issues with glock or Springfield, my hellcat is 2k rounds in and all my glocks never even hiccuped... but it wouldnt surprise me if they did have some issues given the climate.
Interesting. S&W are tiny compared to Glock, so they probably couldn't handle volume as well. How old is your shield plus? I was going to buy one this week
@theshapeexists it was only 2 months in, 300 rounds, definitely a lemon and a disappointment. I am a huge shield fan, I had both the 1.0 and the 2.0 with thousands of rounds through them both. Such solid little tanks. The shield plus mags are absolutely garbage though, I've seen nothing but issues from non-guntubers.
I once worked as a valet driver throughout college and there was the guy who pulled up in a 8 inch lifted F450 and had a 50AE Desert Eagle laying on the passenger seat. He was about 5’0 tall
I really, really wanted to like the Glock. The concept of a lightweight, polymer frame pistol with a simple manual of arms appealed to me. I was excited to have a chance to fire one when a buddy bought a G19. It felt awful in my hand and actually drove my index finger to rub on the bottom of the trigger guard, making a meh trigger even worse. Disappointed to say the least. Picked up a Springfield xd (for about $100 less) when they came out and have never looked back.
I mean, that is pretty much the point of putting glocks on the list. I have 3 and I like them all (9mm, .40, .45) but back when Glock was King of the Hill, there weren't many options for an alternative like you have today. To your point, I walked into my LGS a couple month ago quite sure I'd be walking out with another Glock in 10mm. Instead I walked out with a M&P 2.0 in 10mm. It was about the same price but definitely the better gun.
I've had my P320 XCompact for two 2 years now and have dropped it onto hard tile multiple times(on accident - bad holster) and never had it go off. I've put 3k+ round through it and have had zero issues. It definitely isn't a perfect gun, but im extremely happy with mine.
I’m a big fan of Glocks. Carried a G23 and G26 in the past. Super basic, super cheap (blue label). Also super reliable. Currently carrying the P320 & P365. So far so good, no issues.
I tend to carry the G26 and G43 since they are reliable and lightweight. I carry a G20 when in the woods exploring or hunting. The mid compact sized Glocks like the G19 is the most fun at the range. The blue label thing makes them a really good deal, as they are worth it at the regular price point imo. Ive had my eye on the P320 and P365 for awhile though they seem like solid carry options
Totally disagree with you Chris. Glock wasn’t about civilian markets. So I’m confused how people always try to compare newer guns to Glock. Glock is in a category all by itself so I don’t agree with this at all. I still think you are a great gun tuber and definitely know a lot about firearms but this video I have to disagree. But who cares? I don’t have a 1M subscribers so I’m sure some people will be mad at me. 🤷🏾♂️🤣
I've never been more disappointed w any family of firearms as I was with the P320. From base model to top of the line Legion series, they're outperformed by less expensive offerings. Its initial popularity was due entirely to "winning" the military trials. The secondary reason is the same as the Glock - aftermarket availability. Once purchased, the owner can try to change every part of the weapon to make it decent - but still fall horribly short compared to its peers.
Always wanted the FK Brno, seemed like exactly what I wanted. However, it's normally always sold out. And ammunition is extremely hard to find and expensive.
Glad to see M&P’s not on the list. I own 5 of them (3 - 1.0’s and 2 - 2.0’s) and they’ve never failed during all of my time at the range over the last 15 years.
Love that the M&Ps kept getting mentioned in a positive light. Love my little M&P .40. Carried it for years and put several thousand rounds of cheap ammo through it practicing. Operated flawlessly every single trigger pull. Had I not lost the use of my hands I'd be carrying it to this day.
Damn sorry for your loss, that sucks. Now for what I was planning to write before I finished reading your post: I feel like I have missed out to an extent by absolutely detesting the way all M&P pistols feel in my hands. Idk what it is but the ergonomics just aren't for me. Obviously, this is a YYMV thing because it wouldn't just be one of the most popular handgun series on the market if it weren't at LEAST decent. I know a lot of people who absolutely love their M&P pistols, but for some reason I just cannot stand them.
@@TheDarksideFNothing I can relate. Main thing I have against Glocks. The Shields grip was just short enough that my pinky would slip underneath. The extended mag they included handled that. I'm a big guy and slipped into a sleeve to hide its outline I could comfortably front pocket carry all day. (Cargo pants, natch. Lol) Recoil was snappy, which is to be expected. But with a firm grip it was easy to bring back on target.
I could see the issues you raised with the P320 ive owned 2 so far one of the first ones right after they hit the market and had about 1500 rounds with no issues with it and Im into a P320 XFull about 2k rounds with no issues thats just my mileage on the platform
Yea, being born in 1992 and buying my first gun in 2014 put me well out of being interested in Glocks. I could NEVER understand why people spoke so highly of them. By the time I was interested in and able to buy guns there were so many options from legacy companies at better prices. I own a handful of CZs now, the Beretta APX was my first striker fired, I bought the Arex because it fits Glock holsters. But if you like to play dress up with your guns, glock is the way to go.
I sold an early Desert Eagle in 41magnum for the widow of a friend who passed. I fired it without issue, but very little. It was like trying to hold a soup can and shoot it. Sold it to a guy with hands the size baseball mitts. LOL! And I'm glad someone has finally spoken ill of the mighty glock.
Great video. 👍 i own a M&P 2.0 compact and a glock 43x. I've concealed carried both and they are some what different as far as size. Both reliable. But even my wife with very little time on trigger loves the M&P way more.
May not always 100% agree but always appreciate hearing your opinion. With regard to Glocks, they are the Toyota Corolla of pistols. Mostly pretty good but would never claim Glocks as exciting. Canik is hard to beat today in both price and performance. Nils Jonasson's multiple USPSA championships shooting Caniks proved Canik is at the top of their game.
The problem isn’t that Glocks aren’t what they use to be, the problem is that Glocks ARE what they use to be. Not much has changed or been improved with other modern advancements the industry has taken. They’ve been on top for so long they forgot what put them there, a revolutionary product pushing the market forward.
Your comment is "simply... perfection". I agree.
The Intel of the gun world lmao. Spent a decade so far ahead of everyone they kinda forgot how to innovate and all of a sudden they find themselves trying to play catch-up
Agree. Tried, tested, and old.
Well said
I guess they use it if it aint broken. Don't fix it!!! It's like the 1911 of striker fired pistol
For me, it was the FN LS Edge. It fell light years short of the hype.
A "competition gun" that sucks at competition, and isn't even legal for a couple classes due to it's magwell. The LS Edge is a PoS.
I wanted to like the Edge but it was a lot of money for a really crappy trigger.
Just a 509 with the long slide would be cool. They way over did it and over priced it
I rented one at my local range and the stock sights were basically unusable, there was like an 1/8th inch of daylight on each side of the front sight post when aiming down the sights. I had a hard time getting a good group with it and it's a heavy 5 inch race gun
Agree, they tryed hard to make a copycat VP9 long slide and failed. But do like there AR's
You're not alone. Disappearing sights, broke disconnecter springs, etc. Not living up to the hype (and being stuck in 1982) is why I don't own one.
In Brazil, if you ever say that glock fail, you'll be burned in a football stadium.
Ammunition malfunctions are not the Glocks fault.
I’m not a Glock fan boy. I bought a 19X out of pure curiosity, and it’s been decent.
I love my TP9SF!
Nothin wrong with either one of those, I like em a lot and would take both over a Glock all day long.

Which I just paid more out the box for my FN509C Tactical and just be done with it. Put over 10k rounds through it. Flawless and the trigger broke in nicely after a couple thousand rounds.
Had my glocks for a while and other brands as well and man they definitely get better with age. Got a new one recently and hate it lol

Caniks bigger guns are fantastic tho. I have a TP9SFX Rival and I cannot stop espousing its virtues to random strangers. Its just so fast.

I admit I have had limited exposure with the M17/P320. However I have been very pleased with how it shoots for me. It was my first time with the M17, but I qualified with a perfect 30 out of 30 on the popup target course at Camp Dodge.
It's a badass!
What I hear people say about bore axis on the P320 has not affected me. In fact when I've let friends shoot it they are amazed on how little muzzle flip there is. I think it's the alignment index that counts and this pistol comes out on top with that in a full size striker fired gun.
Camp dodge is a nice place.
Thanks for whoever it is. Just guessing. Love your channel. Lot's of good information and conversation starters like this thread.

I spoke however I want to spoke
The P320 probably has a high bore axis because they designed to be compatible with P250 parts. The P250 was a DA/SA hammer-fired gun released by Sig a few years before the P320 that also had a removable fire control unit. The P320 was really a conversion of the P250 and was also Sig's first ever striker-fired handgun. That it wasn't a total dumpster fire is actually impressive considering how many other companies have jumped into the handgun game and failed epically.
Welcome to the coping section. 😂

As long as it serves you well and you’re ok with the price, that’s all that matters
Same a 19x and a 45
I've been carrying the Beretta PX4 Storm compact.
I’m surprised the FN 5.7 is still $1500. I would have expected the price to go down with the additional options out there from other manufacturers.
1200 now in most places
The psa 57 is pretty good and way cheaper
I really had the hots for a 5.7 FN a few yrs ago; but in the end I just could not answer why. Yet they still very $$.
100% in agreement with you on every one of these, especially the Glock and P320.
the most unreliable gun ever was my first Glock, a 26. The second most unreliable gun is my FN 57. Love the M&P 5.7.
At the risk of sounding like a hipster, I decided to get a Steyr instead of a Glock or Sig. No regrets.
Finally a mature and reasonable response on the internet...i'm stunned
Been running a p320 scorpion for about 2 years now, and the p365. Thousands of rounds spent and I’ve personally never had any issues, ever. Now my brother is a Glock guy, ran my p320 and would stove pipe it every now and again. Only concept I could come up with is he was limp wristing the 320. Now is Glock in a hundred rounds that session had multiple FTF.
Mine went off by itself in my holster. I use my butt cheeks as my holster
You don’t know if you had three or four?😂😂😂😂😂😂
These FCU/cog/chassis things are only as interesting to me as the aftermarket for them. Right now, the P365 is king.
The Glock chassis thing from Defense Distributed is interesting, though. The emphasis is on DIY parts as much as possible with home manufacturing tech (3D printers, etc.). If that catches on, with participation from both indie parts designers and established businesses, it could be pretty cool. Assuming they can fix the grip angle and still use glock mags.

Cope 🥱
My Walther PPQ and HK VP9 are the best shooting and feeling handguns ive ever experienced. Loved the vid!
I have one.
It's in .357 Sig too. I have the 40 & 45 kits. Sig fine tuned my FCS and it shoots great never have had an issue since.
CZ is head and shoulders above Glock
I love my P-09. It's my off duty EDC. I carry a Beretta M9A1 on duty.
In what way ?
Definitely overrated. At best they are slightly above average but not even close to the gems their fanboys pretend they are.
@@joshrandall3632 what you rolling with ?
Agree on you opinion.
Even a good gun can be utterly over rated. 😉 Good list.
Wow, a RUclipsr that speaks to my heart! Bravo for the excellent vernacular.
I absolutely love the VP9 series.
Same goes with Usp series
Haven't watched the video yet, but I'm already waiting for the P320 hate.
You beat me to it! I literally stopped the video to post the exact same comment…lol
Absolutely love the honesty. It's rare and refreshing.
I just never could get into Glock for the same reasons mentioned. For the money there was just stuff I liked better that worked just as well if not better. Currently main a vp9 and cc a cannik mc9
Vp’s are nearly 2x the price of a Glock but okay 😂
@@9770Gand way better. Walther PDP is almost thr same price and better in literally every way.
Own 2 now.
Caniks do rock. I also have two as well. TP9SFX and SC Elite. I want to get the SFX Rival
Always informative and much appreciated!
Agreed- I’d love to see that review from Chris.
The wildest thing about the Deagle is it essentially has a bolt carrier group in the top haha
That’s why I prefer revolvers. Far less prone to mechanical failure.
I've tried a Canik and I didn't like it..
@@moparman1692 how could you not? Is the trigger too smooth for you?
ive shot the desert eagle in 50AE, i wouldnt say its overrated because im also a gamer, and i feel like most people kinda know that its heavy, big, has alot of recoil, and not alot of ammo. but i think its popular because its big and shoots big bullets, but also looks cool. personally i would say most people who have a desert eagle have it as kind of a novelty than an actual like self defense or carry/duty pistol.
I too thought this. Sold my 43x and went through 3 other guns before running back to buying another 43x settling on that again lol
I don't think it's weird. We're living in one of the best eras ever for firearms in terms of
all different price points performing at least good enough all the way up to fantastic.
Canik. ??? Seriously?😂
@@edwardl.990 I laughed at Canik too. They actually make good guns.
Dude, a canik, seriously??
From what I've gathered from the video, might as well just go with the Dagger over the Glock, especially with the reliability issues now.
It's over rated. The dagger is like 300 bucks and doesn't have the following the glock does. Glock is a better pistol than the dagger, but it's wayyyyy more over rated
"Glock is the best handgun ever made" Me
I'd love to see what firearms you find to be underrated. For me it would definitely be the MC2C and MC2SC from Mossberg.
@@DOA220 what was the problem? Was it failing to feed or extract?
I once worked as a valet driver throughout college and there was the guy who pulled up in a 8 inch lifted F450 and had a 50AE Desert Eagle laying on the passenger seat.
He was about 5’0 tall

Could we get some Kel Tec engineers to go work at Glock? 18 months of that would spit out some cool guns.
or a few Glock aftermarket makers to to Glock HQ. but still, that gun might just be PSA dagger or a worse shadow system
Cocaine fueled innovation with Austrian craftsmanship.
I've had an XD mod 2 in 45 acp. and it's been super reliable. I put about 700 rounds through it and can't recall having any failures.
just shot a G19 for the first time and my trigger finger is raw from that rubbing
I've had my P320 XCompact for two 2 years now and have dropped it onto hard tile multiple times(on accident - bad holster) and never had it go off.
I've put 3k+ round through it and have had zero issues. It definitely isn't a perfect gun, but im extremely happy with mine.
He’s just a sig hater
Agree. I prefer to "go fishing with a glock reel". G27 with a G23 magazine.
Duty carry G47, off duty conceal sig p365

@@DigitalCity-sj4esfunny I don’t care if you did… actually I like Glock over everything but
Totally disagree with you Chris.
I’ve had the fn 5.7 mk2 for a while and it’s been fantastic. I love it.
Nah, tell it like it is... its popular because it looks badass. Its aesthetics aren't below the 1911.
Always wanted the FK Brno, seemed like exactly what I wanted. However, it's normally always sold out. And ammunition is extremely hard to find and expensive.
I think Chris said in a recent video that it is no longer being made. Sucks, because I was interested also.
awesome video - one of the few videos I'll watch on normal speed thanks for making I'm learning a lot
Chris speaks facts. I 100% agree with this list.
Glad to see M&P’s not on the list. I own 5 of them (3 - 1.0’s and 2 - 2.0’s) and they’ve never failed during all of my time at the range over the last 15 years.
Glocks are not overrated, just out there are too many people who are going with the flow and have no idea, and never will, what a good gun is.

By the time
I was interested in and able to buy guns there were so many options from legacy companies at better prices.
I own a handful of CZs now, the Beretta APX was my first striker fired, I bought the Arex because it fits Glock holsters.
But if you like to play dress up with your guns, glock is the way to go.

They are more like a 4Runner. They can do anything stock or modified. The driver is what matters.
