This pretty much sums up Nemona's in depth character. Yeah, she's clingy, she's a bit obsessed, she's kinda weird, but there's a reason. She not only sees your potential and understands that you can actually have a chance at beating her, but she also sees someone that she could finally be herself around. She doesn't just want a rival. She wants a real friend.
What I like about Nemona is when she was smurfing against you (playing using a weaker team even though shes already a champion level trainer) she used a level 5 paldea starter. Then, in her final battle against you, she actually uses the starter that she picked during that time that you started your journey to signify that she too has been training around the same pace as you are. She purposely made the starter her new ace just for the occasion of going all out using her OG team against you.
It's funny that her OG team includes : - 4 Pokémon she already used against us before they're all fully evolved - 2 other Pokémon (Dudunsparce and Orthworm) on the same level as the others (lvl 65-66). I thought she'd use a brand new team but it was a nice battle.

I didn't actually complete the game so I didn't realize all of this, but this is actually really touching. A lot of RUclipsrs say she's clingy because of a crush, but this really is the truth: She just wanted someone to believe in her. Edit: I would never expect this to get so much attention. This is part of why I love this game so much. Every part of the story of this game is just something I really needed to experience when I actually was a kid. I was severely bullied, betrayed by my own family, and rejected for my intelligence and passion to the point that I was absolutely terrified to even admit when I liked something. I love Nemona, and i....may have cried a lot during these games.
I didn't like the story much because it was all crammed into the final part after you completed all the paths but they did an amazing job of writing the characters this time around, even in the dlc I grew attatched to the characters they introduced
The game showed a better arc with Arven and Mabosstiff. Hadn’t cried that hard and that long in decades before the scene where Mabosstiff finally stood up and wanted to play fetch.

Taking the time to understand her story, she’s actually quite an endearing character, despite her stalker vibes she has wholesome intentions. I appreciate this different take on a rival, it made for some compelling writing when you dig into it
There's also the relationship with her parents. She said her parents were, "hands off but in a good way" meaning she had to learn and grow for herself, without her parents guidance. While this was successful, it appears that it caused distance her and her parents. She doesn't mention her family at all unless directly asked about them. Which I think is sad, she's not close with her family

Yeah, Nemona kinda comes off like a character who was pretty lonely before she met the player to me. She says it was in a good way, but I also feel like Nemona is somebody who would always try to put a positive spin on everything, especially as she's in that moment traveling with a guy who was outright abandoned by his parent.
I wouldn't call her folks neglectful. She still can go to school and it's obvious that she was taught good morals. She purposely tries her best not to come off as too clingy and obsessed, which is a behaviour that's taught. Some kids just learn better on their own, where being too involved can be more harmful than helpful. I don't talk to my parents much, and they pretty much let me do my own thing after setting up the baseline of morality and functionality in me, but it doesn't make me love them any less. In fact, I hated them when they tried to get too involved with how I did things and can only appreciate them now after they've given me some space. I can see the very energetic and curious Nemona being the same way. She'd likely hate her parents if they were too controlling, but can appreciate them sinc they're likely there when she needs the extra help, but otherwise uninvolved directly. That, or Pokemon once again suffers from short writing snippets that create comparatively shallow characters that idiots like us try to read into.

I thought I was the only one who put the pieces together for her story, and I was so tired of everyone calling her unnecessarily possessive, because there is a reason. I relate to nemona on a personal level and I wish others would look past her yandere-ness and see her for who she really is, too.

It was pretty easy to piece together why she acts the way she does Figured it out within seconds by the time the passive dialogue backstory reveal happened That said, I just can't help but like the yandere-lite and goku interpretations better and I don't know why

This is what I think of Nemona: Nemona is a representation of the player, think about It, she wants to battle every time, she completed the game by becoming champion, after that theres nothing to do but battle, shes bored! Also you know how everyone's terastalization animation theres some struggle? Look at Nemona's arm, what if she uses the glove because she used Terastalization a LOT of times or maybe even at the start of the battle! Like we do with Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Gigantamax and now Terastalization. And maybe Terastalizing a lot caused her a injury and now has to use that glove. WE ARE A DLC.
Nemona is probably the best neurodivergent character ive seen in a piece of media, she feels like she could be a real person, quite obviously her special interest is pokemon battles but since shes so good, people are scared to battle her and she feels as if she has to hold back so she can "enjoy" her interest which heavily reflects how neurodivergent people "mask" to fit in She obviously has some pretty bad social issues which could be due to her being neurodivergent, plus, she also comes from a rich family and we dont really know anything about her family so there could be another layer there as well, but, that behaviour can be corrected with professional help Nemona is such an important character to me as a neurodivergent person, I love her so much, im so happy she can finally express her interest properly post-game

Nemona genuinely impressed me and (in my opinion) encapsulates the great characterisations in SV. When she was first revealed I assumed she would be the boilerplate stock NPC who kinda ballwashes the player throughout the game whilst never putting up much of a challenge, ultimately petering out in the endgame to a rushed conclusion of their story arc. However, she's not like this at all! It's pretty basic, but having characters with strong personalities and believable arcs with that pour themselves into their passion is something I really value in stories, and SV exemplifies this in its main and supporting cast, Nemona especially.

Nemona is my favorite Pokémon character in this game. I honestly felt bad she was so OP that nobody else, not even Geeta of all people, could match her. My battle vs. Nemona was soooo epic. The build up behind it made it feel so amazing to be able to face her again I love Pokémon battles a LOT, and her loneliness is very relatable in my case. I haven't been able to be myself around people (without them thinking I'm lame or weird), so Nemona's past hits hard. I wonder if I'll ever find someone who'll like me for me.
I hope so as well, but considering SwSh dlcs got their own set of new characters and Marnie, Hop and Bede were relegated to the Galarian Star Tournament, I wouldn't expect them to show up
Well, she appears in the anime and I heard that a lot more of the characters from the games are going to appear repeatedly in the anime the further this season of the anime goes. Liko and Roy are probably going to be involved with the plot of the games as the story goes on.
Game freak did great with the rival stories in this one. They all feel realistic for people living in a pokemon setting. It's a shame more people didn't realize what was happening with Nemona. Hopefully your video helps spread the knowledge! Have a like
I'm gonna say it, pokemon Scarlet and Violet are by far the best pokemon games, yes there are bugs and sometimes the game goes completely side ways. But the story, the designs, the pokemon, and even some of the models and animations are absolutely INCREDIBLE. You can tell that they put ALL the stocks into the story, graphically Arceus is the best Switch pokemon game, this game is much better in terms of Story and whatnot. I love this game, I love em so much.

Bro I've been saying this for the past 2 days that Nemona is a lonely character at the top. A lot of people miss out on this because they neglect going to the Academy. It's perplexing how being so crazy good at something, especially something you enjoy, can drive people away from you... I used to think Nemona was obsessive and kinda crazy, but really she was just lonely and trapped behind a facade she had to maintain for other's sake.
These characters man. It's baffling that game freak finally managed to reach the same heights and in some ways surpassed their work in generations 5 and 7. Consistently throughout the region encountering characters struggling against all sorts of hurdles some bigger and small, but trying their best regardless to find and protect their most precious things. I so wish this game had another year of production, because this game could've reached even greater heights if it cut down on the glitches, bugs, weak graphical fidelity, poor NPC dialogue and messed around more with the gym tests, school settings and subtle details that really needed fleshing out like they'd done in prior games. You can see this game shine, but also the clear cracks of the devs struggling to put together all their fun ideas in such a strict deadline and production. This is up there as my favourite game in the franchise thus far and I soooooo hope they can make the DLC a smash with the next game being even better.
For me, she's basically a player character. Not only was she strong enough to beat the champion and no one else was able to stand up to her exactly like we've done in so many games before. And the only thing which could challenge a player is another player(not including romhacks).
As someone who recently faced a big betrayal after the other person saw the real me, I wanted nothing more than someone around whom I didn't feel I had to pretend to be someone else, so Nemona's a character who really resonated with me.
you know when I learned more about nemona's character at the end of the game it reminded me of how some of the fan base see Naruto at the end of his series. Some people say that naruto was a genius who was given lousy teachers while others say he was born into greatness yet they completely ignore all the hard work he did to get to his end game self all the life and death training he did nemona is kind of like that people think she was a battling prodigy but really she just loves pokemon battles nothing to do with how good she is at. She's also like leon someone who started off low level then became a juggernaut of a trainer only because both loved to battle so much they dedicated their life to it

Her final battle in game she was still holding back. She just knew for sure after we beat her that we actually had the potential to fight her at full strength.
Nemona is holding back so people wouldn't be scared of her, but hurting herself as she knows she's not doing her hardest is quite the mental conundrum. It's not her fault that no one saw the effort that went to her training. People assume and judge when they don't care enough to understand. Honestly, if Nemona used her actual strongest team at the start, I would LOVE that. Because it shows the power difference between her and you at the start of the game. It shows just how much you have to grow to stand at the same battleground as her. A challenge to overcome. Then, she starts to help you train. As they say, if you want to get better at anything, find people better than you and learn from them. If there is DLC with a Hard Mode Nemona boss fight where she stops holding back and has a team of EV and IV trained LV 100 legendaries, I would love that. "Good. Why, that's very good."
Ngl, I feel like I understand Nemona on a personal level. I beat everyone with my (admittedly) overleveled pokemon, and suddenly I find there is nobody in the overworld who wants to fight me!
I figure that might be the start of things... but I think she really does get sweet on you as an individual, and not just a mean to her own end. This is basically confirmed when Real Mask came out and you meet her parents for real. They are completely different from Nemona. Like, in every way imaginable. Like you said, Nemona saw herself as different from everyone which includes her family. Which just makes this so much sadder. She legit can't see herself in anyone except for the player. Just finished the whole game today and I gotta say Namona was one of the best parts of the game her story and arc was so good and probably the best next to Lillie. This is how u do a friendly rival, I hope we get to see more of her in the franchise.

From the beginning, I’ve always been cravingly fond of miss Nemona 🥰 Knowing more as to why she is how she is, I can relate to her (and not just crush on her). I’m like her when it comes to the Nintendo game Arms 😐 I’d have a decent amount of pocket money for every time someone has rage quit in the lobby online after winning (regardless if it’s once, multiple times, or even teamed with the person). So yeah…I SO understand her clingy behavior when someone who can handle her let’s her know it 😏
Nemona's probably the best rival so far (only thing I would "improve" from her is for her to choose the powerful starter against yours and not the weak one)
Nah it fits. The starter she adopts starts off weak to yours, but gains an advantage over yours when fully grown up. Fits her idea of holding back until you're ready enough for her to give it her all. Fighting Type Quaquaval beats Dark Type Meowscarada. Dark Type Meowscarada beats Ghost type Skeledirge. and while not a direct battle advantage like the other two, Skeledirge being a Ghost Type makes it untouchable by Quaquaval's Fighting moves.
I think Nemona is obsessed with battles because everyone fear her for being a champion,but since we are new, she tries on her way to get us to get stronger , to become a champion to be her battle companion or "rival", to be finally able to go all out once again
She's like Goku and I love her for it Seriously, I think she might be my favorite rival in the Pokemon series. She's really unique in how her character progresses throughout the game! Where most (actually, I think ALL) of the other main line Pokemon titles had your rival grow stronger alongside you (example: Hop in Gen 8, who started his journey together with you and competed in the Gym Challenge with you), Nemona is already at the top and is training you to be her ultimate rival and potential successor. She's not growing stronger alongside you, at least not in the way previous rivals like Hop did (I do love Hop though, he grew on me at the end of Sword). And I love that unique approach, just like a lot of other stuff I like about Gen 9. It's honestly better than people give it credit for.
i dint usually care that much about a fictional character, but nemona is different, her past is the literal definition of “suffering from success”, and its kinda sad, cuz i know that kind of feeling

I mean yes I feel sorry for her… But there's more to pokémon battling than going all out in general… And especially being insufferable when it comes to battling, which she kinda was with the player character… Seriously, I was literally almost repeating Penny's lines when we were going through the final area cause she clearly wasn't realizing how bad things actually were… To me, she's so focused on Pokémon Battling, being strong and whatnot (literally, after our final battle with her, she wants to continue battling us IMMEDIATELY after) that she isn't really seeing the fun that she herself should be having… Yes, she holds back… but when it comes to people like the Top Champion, who cares about fun? Just win and get the title, knock her down a peg or two… that's literally one person you don't have to hold back on at all… Also, she never really refers to us as friends, only rivals… like… people can battle and become friends, people can share the same strength and still Ve friends… What all I'm trying to say is; yes, I feel sorry for her… that doesn't change the fact that she doesn't have to be the strongest to have fun.

This is what I think of Nemona:
Nemona is a representation of the player, think about It, she wants to battle every time, she completed the game by becoming champion, after that theres nothing to do but battle, shes bored! Also you know how everyone's terastalization animation theres some struggle? Look at Nemona's arm, what if she uses the glove because she used Terastalization a LOT of times or maybe even at the start of the battle! Like we do with Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Gigantamax and now Terastalization. And maybe Terastalizing a lot caused her a injury and now has to use that glove. WE ARE A DLC.
I think that glove is actually there to make up for her lousy throwing arm

Nemona is probably the best neurodivergent character ive seen in a piece of media, she feels like she could be a real person, quite obviously her special interest is pokemon battles but since shes so good, people are scared to battle her and she feels as if she has to hold back so she can "enjoy" her interest which heavily reflects how neurodivergent people "mask" to fit in
She obviously has some pretty bad social issues which could be due to her being neurodivergent, plus, she also comes from a rich family and we dont really know anything about her family so there could be another layer there as well, but, that behaviour can be corrected with professional help

Nemona genuinely impressed me and (in my opinion) encapsulates the great characterisations in SV.
When she was first revealed I assumed she would be the boilerplate stock NPC who kinda ballwashes the player throughout the game whilst never putting up much of a challenge, ultimately petering out in the endgame to a rushed conclusion of their story arc.
However, she's not like this at all! It's pretty basic, but having characters with strong personalities and believable arcs with that pour themselves into their passion is something I really value in stories, and SV exemplifies this in its main and supporting cast, Nemona especially.
She basically has the One Punch Man symptom. She trained so hard and powerful she can no longer feel joy when battling others.
Nemona would thrive in sinnoh I think. She’d have an absolute blast facing the league and Cynthia

Honestly I didn’t like nemona much at first, but she grew on me and I felt kinda bad, she’s probably one of my most favorite characters this generation next to arven or poppy
Nemona is my favorite Pokémon character in this game. I honestly felt bad she was so OP that nobody else, not even Geeta of all people, could match her. My battle vs. Nemona was soooo epic. The build up behind it made it feel so amazing to be able to face her again
I love Pokémon battles a LOT, and her loneliness is very relatable in my case. I haven't been able to be myself around people (without them thinking I'm lame or weird), so Nemona's past hits hard. I wonder if I'll ever find someone who'll like me for me.
I pray we see more of Nemona in future DLC and doesn't just get reduced to a background character

Well, she appears in the anime and I heard that a lot more of the characters from the games are going to appear repeatedly in the anime the further this season of the anime goes. Liko and Roy are probably going to be involved with the plot of the games as the story goes on.
Game freak did great with the rival stories in this one. They all feel realistic for people living in a pokemon setting. It's a shame more people didn't realize what was happening with Nemona. Hopefully your video helps spread the knowledge! Have a like
I'm gonna say it, pokemon Scarlet and Violet are by far the best pokemon games, yes there are bugs and sometimes the game goes completely side ways. But the story, the designs, the pokemon, and even some of the models and animations are absolutely INCREDIBLE. You can tell that they put ALL the stocks into the story, graphically Arceus is the best Switch pokemon game, this game is much better in terms of Story and whatnot. I love this game, I love em so much.

Bro I've been saying this for the past 2 days that Nemona is a lonely character at the top. A lot of people miss out on this because they neglect going to the Academy. Yo my man Frank Hassel has an interesting story too. Hope to see her patents and big sister in the DLC to find out why she got into battling so hard. Crazy that she's #1 and still attends class with you and a normal student. Nemona, Arven and Penny are goats (the weeb in me wants to say nakama though)
The fact that the anime will never have Ash as Nemona's rival makes me sad. Hope the new protagonists whoever the battler is can bring the hype.

It's perplexing how being so crazy good at something, especially something you enjoy, can drive people away from you... I used to think Nemona was obsessive and kinda crazy, but really she was just lonely and trapped behind a facade she had to maintain for other's sake.
I believe when you're in Area Zero, she says her father helped create the Rotom Phone, after you get to one of Research Facilities areas.
These characters man. It's baffling that game freak finally managed to reach the same heights and in some ways surpassed their work in generations 5 and 7. Consistently throughout the region encountering characters struggling against all sorts of hurdles some bigger and small, but trying their best regardless to find and protect their most precious things. I so wish this game had another year of production, because this game could've reached even greater heights if it cut down on the glitches, bugs, weak graphical fidelity, poor NPC dialogue and messed around more with the gym tests, school settings and subtle details that really needed fleshing out like they'd done in prior games. You can see this game shine, but also the clear cracks of the devs struggling to put together all their fun ideas in such a strict deadline and production. This is up there as my favourite game in the franchise thus far and I soooooo hope they can make the DLC a smash with the next game being even better.
For me, she's basically a player character. Not only was she strong enough to beat the champion and no one else was able to stand up to her exactly like we've done in so many games before. And the only thing which could challenge a player is another player(not including romhacks).
As someone who recently faced a big betrayal after the other person saw the real me, I wanted nothing more than someone around whom I didn't feel I had to pretend to be someone else, so Nemona's a character who really resonated with me.

you know when I learned more about nemona's character at the end of the game it reminded me of how some of the fan base see Naruto at the end of his series. Some people say that naruto was a genius who was given lousy teachers while others say he was born into greatness yet they completely ignore all the hard work he did to get to his end game self all the life and death training he did nemona is kind of like that people think she was a battling prodigy but really she just loves pokemon battles nothing to do with how good she is at. She's also like leon someone who started off low level then became a juggernaut of a trainer only because both loved to battle so much they dedicated their life to it

Her final battle in game she was still holding back. She just knew for sure after we beat her that we actually had the potential to fight her at full strength.

Nemona is holding back so people wouldn't be scared of her, but hurting herself as she knows she's not doing her hardest is quite the mental conundrum. It's not her fault that no one saw the effort that went to her training. People assume and judge when they don't care enough to understand.
Honestly, if Nemona used her actual strongest team at the start, I would LOVE that. Because it shows the power difference between her and you at the start of the game. It shows just how much you have to grow to stand at the same battleground as her. A challenge to overcome. Then, she starts to help you train.
As they say, if you want to get better at anything, find people better than you and learn from them.
If there is DLC with a Hard Mode Nemona boss fight where she stops holding back and has a team of EV and IV trained LV 100 legendaries, I would love that.

This is basically confirmed when Real Mask came out and you meet her parents for real. They are completely different from Nemona. Like, in every way imaginable. Like you said, Nemona saw herself as different from everyone which includes her family. Which just makes this so much sadder. She legit can't see herself in anyone except for the player. Just finished the whole game today and I gotta say Namona was one of the best parts of the game her story and arc was so good and probably the best next to Lillie. This is how u do a friendly rival, I hope we get to see more of her in the franchise.

Nah it fits. The starter she adopts starts off weak to yours, but gains an advantage over yours when fully grown up. Fits her idea of holding back until you're ready enough for her to give it her all.

and while not a direct battle advantage like the other two, Skeledirge being a Ghost Type makes it untouchable by Quaquaval's Fighting moves.

Seriously, I think she might be my favorite rival in the Pokemon series. She's really unique in how her character progresses throughout the game! Where most (actually, I think ALL) of the other main line Pokemon titles had your rival grow stronger alongside you (example: Hop in Gen 8, who started his journey together with you and competed in the Gym Challenge with you), Nemona is already at the top and is training you to be her ultimate rival and potential successor. She's not growing stronger alongside you, at least not in the way previous rivals like Hop did (I do love Hop though, he grew on me at the end of Sword). And I love that unique approach, just like a lot of other stuff I like about Gen 9. It's honestly better than people give it credit for.

Nemona is a trainer who loves battles and want to show her full potential with someone who would be as strong as her. Can't hide the fact that she is clingy, but thats what makes her an interesting character.
