I remembered the first time eating this. It was only $3.25. and the price wasn't the reason why I came back. The man was chopping meat and placed it on my plate, then went in again and started chopping again with more meat! And he wasn't finished! He chopped even more! He could barely close the top. And when it came to pay, it was only $3.25! That's when I realized why there was always a long line in front of his shop.

I think one reason why Chinese food used to cheap in the old days is because it was unpopular before exposure to the internet…..I’m not talking about Americanized Chinese food

Me and the homies were in NYC taking in a Yankees game and we were out and about looking for cheap eats that wasn’t hot dogs and someone said go to this place and when we got there I was like what?? OK, Quebec City here, so if I go to NY, I have to go to Gallagherès, Jewish delicatessen for a knish, Chinatown, Katzès, get a mutton chop, keenes, I used to get that BBQ pork in Victoria with BBQ and Sichuan pickled chickenès feet. Jerseyès got some good eats too.
I went to wah fung my bday 2021. Long line… I ask the lady at front if I can cut the line if I buy her food. I guess I told her it was my bday. She end up buying my food and said she will buy me a piece of chicken because in her culture that’s what they do for people. Asian lady. Thank you
Haven't been to Manhattan Chinatown and more than 30 years. From time to time I make the trip from Central Jersey to Brooklyn Chinatown and Flushing but it ain't easy to get to Manhattan Chinatown from here and there's no parking. I think later this spring going to make my way there and give this place a try.
I used to come here EVERY Saturday at 1pm & get the Peking Duck with rice back in 19'. & super economic prices. They used to freak out because I used to order so many cans of soda.
Me and my nephew my family was going out of town when we stop by this place early in the morning they open up at 9:30. Which is typically early for a Chinese place. We was very early so we didn’t have to wait too long we was about the first customer there. I ordered the Mushu pork with rice and cabbage that’s all they serve their. And my nephew ordered the duck and my cousin ordered the chicken. Actually the food was pretty good and he drizzled it with some special sesame oil it tasted pretty good but the only thing it was miss😢 was some soy sauce. And I wish they had more varieties of rice like pork fried rice well send this meal to another level. but they have none of that only white rice and cabbage. pretty good. If I’m in the area I will get it again and actually the price was good too I got a large so it was 750. Put the smallest 550. 👍🏾
Eating good ass char siu from Scarborough/Toronto Ontario rn and that looks delicious 🔥🔥 if you ever have a chance to try Toronto Cantonese food you won’t regret it 🙌🙌
Good that itès not drowning in sauce-some Chinese restos are bad for that, like buffets. Costco has those Jinan style deep fried cheese battered hot dogs and dammit I forgot to buy them today!
The roast pork is sooooo good. It's whatever sauce they use that's the kicker. I don't care what anyone on here tries to say about this place, don't listen to them. Go there yourself. You have three choices of roast duck, roast chicken and roast pork. Comes with white rice and cabbage. So good. Small serving is $5 something and large order is $7-$8 something. Try going early because the line gets long outside. Small place, so it's about two to three people at a time that they serve.
i watched dozen of reviews from this place and ppl are praising how good it is so it was on my to do list on my new york trip yes it's very cheap for the amount of food no the food is just mediocre it has that overseas chinese food take to it if you tried roasted meat from southern china/hong kong before then you'll know and yes you can get rice lunchbox with 2 types of roasted meat and a cold drink in hong kong for that price (before covid)
Hi I like the videos. This style of pork is my fav. From Boston where is the best place in Boston or Greater Boston I can get this style of Char Siu like Wah fung or close to it?
Thanks! I'm not very familiar with Boston unfortunately. Maybe try asking around on Reddit? Or just head to Boston Chinatown and try char siu spots and see what's good!
The Char Siu I knew about being a popular dish but that roast pig dish is there a specific name you can ask for to get that? I've never seen that before and it looks like it'd be right up my alley.
It's not roast pig, you will never see the entire pig hanging like in some other restaurants. It's more like roast pig belly, the same cut as bacon. It goes pretty fast, since they are only roasting the pork belly. If you see it hanging there, just ask for it, it's a flat piece if meat, with a textured, crunchy golden skin.
I went there yesterday, good food but I will try the bbq pork instead of the duck, too many bones the small is 6 now and large is 8 it was about 85 degrees out long line!
@@uaeats we used to have a restaurant like this in buffalo eddies chophouse but they closed. Id rather buy lunch here than some tourist trap garbage I see so many visitors like me to nyc eat
I used to eat wah fung everyday for lunch for a month. Can confirm it’s cha shui pork is good for the *price*. Everything else is actually not that good. The roast pig was pretty bland and dry. The roast goose problem is you don’t know which body part you will get and sometimes you won’t get much meat due to the goose anatomy.
I miss Chinatown New York Peking duck house was always a good one and a few others that we frequent it now in Los Angeles for quite a few years Chinatown Los Angeles isn't bad same vibe
I live two blocks away. I never buy from them. I like lean meat & roast pork to sweet for me. Always long lines because of their low price & extra amount of meat.
well i tried that place before indeed you get a lot food for the money and i ordered exactly the same thing but the meat is just ok'ish you can tell the roasted pork is very uneven with meat and fat if you had roasted meat in southern china/hong kong before then yeah this is just "ok"
There is a difference between roast pork and roast pig? Aren’t they both pigs? Edit: turns out one is char siu… I wasn’t aware cos when I order I use the Chinese names 🤣
You really get what you paid for. This is probably the cheapest place to get roast pork rice, but if you want REALLY GOOD roast pork, you need to try Big Wong. For all the people I always see waiting in lane, I hope you're waiting for cheap eat, not because you think this place is good. The roast pork here is considered low quality.

As a Asian, you never pair any dishes with fried rice because it will take away the essence of the dish.
