- NYC has no shortage of authentic Chinese cuisine. Manhattan Chinatown food options are plentiful, and Chinese food in Flushing, Queens is second to none in the US outside of California. However, next time you're in NYC you don't have to go to Chinatown for great and authentic Chinese food. Xi'an Famous Foods is nothing short of the best Chinese fast food chain in New York City and it sells authentic hand-ripped noodles for every single order! In fact it's so good that Anthony Bourdain loved Xi'an Famous Foods and personally helped to promote it by visiting it on the Xi'an Famous Foods No Reservations episode
Hand-ripped noodles, also known as hand-pulled noodles, is a meticulous process for creating delicious, springy, chewy, and elastic noodles that go perfectly with a strong, savory, meaty sauce. Xi'an Famous Foods in NYC may be a chain restaurant, but its hand-pulled noodle recipe is one of the best in the city, perhaps the best in the USA! I may not know their hand-ripped noodle recipe, or how to make hand-pulled noodles, or how to make hand-ripped noodles, but I do know that the food at Xi'an is among the best authentic Chinese food in New York City and the best cheap eats in NYC and the best noodles in New York City! Check it out!

You're probably too young to remember when his dad ran that place out of a small basement shop in Flushing off 40th. That was fantastic.
Are you talking about that little area that has a bunch of food places in a basement?
@@thai33oz Yep. You grab some lamb skewers from the street, then go downstairs for some liang pi and rou jia mo. The guy would recite the biang biang noodles song as he made them. It was an experience.
I never got to go to his dad's original restaurant. I hear it used to be a bubble tea shop that also sold food and the food proved way more popular than their tea. Also I did not know there was a biang biang noodle song!
@@uaeats It was more like a silly poem but yeah. Anyway, always enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work UA.
You’re becoming a really good presenter. Watch your vids from beginning to end.
Thank you! I actually wasn't feeling well this video so I'm glad I was still able to entertain for the full vid
Loved the excitement and great metaphor and kicked up expressing! Doing great work son ! Be exceptionally blessed 🙌 live long and prosper young padowin ❤
Great point on the vegetables. As a spicy food lover, I’m sure I would have appreciated vegetables a lot more growing up if it didn’t come from a can or was only flavored with salt.
Yep and actually not even necessarily spicy flavor, just sauteing with garlic does wonders to lift veggies.

New subscriber here. 👍
Ua does it again! A fun and funny personality mixed with a great review!!!!!
Thanks! Glad you liked the content!
Ok...first, great content, great audio, great video quality...second, you are authentic in your food description, food flavor, service received from staff at the restaurants..
And for this I say Bravo, Kudos and Cheers ❤
X’ian noodles are the truth! Best Asian noodles I’ve ever had of any kind (I’m Korean-American).
Wonder if the veggies would work as a topping in the pork bun?
Omg I miss that place so freakin much. I used to go there for lunch all the time 😋
Yeah I'm a big fan! Thanks for being early Nancy!
@@uaeats will you mail me some of those noodles 😭 😂 Another great review!
The best! Well deserved review!
Glad you enjoyed the vid!
Miss my hometown of Xi'An and its great food culture
Did the food in the video look authentic to Xi'an cuisine?
I love this! I was actually debating about getting the Xian Meal kit for my birthday and now I definitely will haha. Glad you enjoyed it!
Can't wait for the sequel to the UA vs. Dumpling franchise: Diarrhea.
lol
Love your videos! Keep up the good work.
surely will try this xian noodle when return to NYC. i missed this chinese authentic restaurant when visit nyc for the first time
Chinese-style vegetables are my favorite, so delicious! American-style vegetables do tend to be bland. Which is weird because it doesn’t take much to make them tasty, all you have to do is sauté them in a pan with sauce or seasonings. 😆 Someday I’d like to try hand-pulled noodles!
I love this place. The spicy lamb is amazing.
Great vid... I'm always looking forward to your next one....keep 'em coming 😊
Thank you! I'll keep going as long as people are enjoying them!
This is one of your best videos,👍
Thank you! I loved filming this one
Love the one in Flushing. Love the spicy lamb noodles and dumplings.
I agree! The Flushing location is the best one
Thanks for introducing me to a cuisine I am not used to 🙏🏻
Another amazing video! I love hand pulled noodles and there are a few great places in Toronto but not like NYC. It's the food capital of the world! Here's a suggestion for you. Get 10 friends together and go to Flushing for a full Korean meal. It would be different and entertaining!
Flushing is definitely on the list! I was thinking of showcasing the New World Mall food court but Korean food is a good idea too!
@@uaeats Everyone knows Korean BBQ but I think if you did a big Korean family meal, it may be more interesting for your viewers and make you standout. Just my 2 cents.
UA: try the knife-cut noodles at New World Mall food court! Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles stall
The cucumber salad looked fantastic ! That sauce !
Those noodles looked amazing
Tasted amazing too!
I love how this restaurant is very welcoming to non Chinese customers. You could have no experience with real Chinese food but come here and easily order a meal through a kiosk.
True! Even though all authentic Chinese restaurants will have English menus it can probably still be intimidating for non-Chinese people to eat there. This place is super laidback though and the fast food format and digital ordering system makes anyone feel welcome inside.
This cucumber slaps... LOL Love it man
Incredible food 😋
Ive had it many times. Usually at the
LIC location.
Thier factory/warehouse is in Woodside (not far from where I live) - it has limited hours but it so good and never a line.
Great video. As someone who has been to this restaurant, and who also happens to live in Xi'an, I give them kudos for keeping most things traditional. Especially the rou jia mo and the cucumber salad. Ok, the cumin lamb noodles are not really a thing here, but the noodles themselves are traditional and you do see cumin lamb dishes (albeit not in noddle form), but they made it their own. And it tastes great.
Glad you appreciate fresh/homemade noodles as much as myself. I also feel the same about French fries & onion rings.
I think that it could taste great to put some of that amazing looking spicy salad inside that pork burger!
Love your honesty ,I would love to try the burger why haven’t I seen those in the west
See you next time UA
Give it a try! If you like spicy the spicy lamb cumin one is excellent as well, though I showed the pork one for a more traditional example
Gotta try the lamb Hand pulled noodles and the lamb burger.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes can't go wrong with those if you can handle spice!
Best video yet! That food looks incredible.
A homeless man attacked me for chicken
The noodles look amazing. Everything though looks like has the same spiced oil...but worth visiting for sure...
I actually probably shouldn't have called the sauce for the dumplings "hot oil" as it was sorta hot and sour, and more like broth than oil. But you're right, you need to like hot oil to eat here
Keep up the good work brother!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the videos
Very similar place in Nashville just opened up last year. Has hand pulled chile - cumin- beef-brisket noodles, fried lemongrass pork dumplings, and smacked cuc and kohlrabi in black vinegar hua jiao garlic salad. The noodles rocked.
@TheTitofan1 Xiao Bao
Does your name mean Unauthorized Authentic? Lol I’m a new subscriber. Your reviews and honesty is very refreshing. Makes me want to try myself. Keep up the great work!
Bro I fw you so much, I watch and rewatch all your vids and I have a good ass time. You a great guy bro keep doing what makes you happy
Thanks for the kind words! Hearing that people not only watch my vids but even rewatch them is the best compliment I could get!
1.5k+ 👍! Hi UA! Thanks for sharing this experience
Your best video so far!
im not the biggest fan of giant noodles ( and i live with italians ) but im gonna watch just to see the place. i do love most chinese take out.
Don't worry, the video will feature other foods too and not just noodles. Thanks for being early!
This is one of my all-time favorite places and a must stop for me when I am in NYC. I hope they franchise internationally. I love how you present this. You channel is going to be huge.
noodle dish look amazing like chow fun Gone Wild ! And those dumplings I'll take two orders please
haha Chow Fun Gone Wild
Love your videos and channel. Congrats on your engagement!:)
Great video UA!
I would add some of those veggies with that burger.. yummy
Looks delicious. Greetings from 🇧🇷🙏🏾💙🇧🇼
Cucumber spicy salad is sooo tasty!!
Just found your channel today. I appreciate the quality of your shots! Made me feel hungry for some chili oil noodles 😁
Oh this looks so good.
I prefer cantonese cuisine & dumplings dude okkkuuuurrrrr 😛 BEST cooking from HKG
Love the videos UA!
Thanks!
Gummi Bear come to life. Keep up the food reviews!
I just googled that place. Taking the train from da Bronx to Chinatown for the lamb. Thanks for sharing this place.
Xi'an province food is my favorite, especially the manti, lomen and shashlik.
Try Tingly Cumin Lamb Biang Biang Noodles at Very Fresh Noodle inside Chelsea Market. Lots of people prefer that over Xian Famous Foods.
Yeah, Southern veggies are pretty much boiled to death. This is slowly changing. One meal that I never truly enjoyed was the traditional Thanksgiving turkey "with all the trimmings." There's usually nothing savory about that meal--it's just bulk calories with bland, uninteresting tastes.
Chinese veggies: I love bok choy, but I warn anyone who lives alone never to eat it at home. It's way too easy to swallow wrong, get it stuck in your throat and choke on the stuff. Of course, you _could_ knife and fork it into small, unchokeable pieces, and that would work.
i been meaning to try this spot for a long time…
Had no idea you were Chinese. I thought you were Korean 😂 looking forward to more Asian food reviews I think that white boiled vegetable comes over from England
its hard to tell with his eyes constantly closed
He pronounces Mandarin with an accent and looks very Japanese. I am Chinese and I do not think he is Chinese for sure.
When I was a kid I Hated Spinach, broccoli, and string beans because my parents and even my school would all use CANNED vegetables. When I realized they came RAW and I could
stir fry them my hatred ended. Lima beans--no still hate em lol
Yeah I think school cafeterias often use canned veggies, then they wonder why kids won't eat the veggies
I like your hat
Great video 👍👍👍
Thank you!
Yo my stoner brother, i love the lamb burgers from Xian Famous foods in Flushing but they cannot compare to Henan Feng Wei's lamb burgers - 420 BLAZE IT
I’ve always been bias on only Hong Kong Cuisine. You made me curious about western Chinese now. Food looks great.
Glad I was able to introduce another Chinese regional cuisine to you!
Thanks UA, great video. I would love to try that style of Chinese cuisine. The food looks absolutely delicious! ….👍😎
Omg I gotta try that spot
her disclaimer at the end is everything. Xi'an folks are not crazy about Xi'an Famous Foods
Grew up close to flushing that’s one thing probably the only thing I miss about iNY is good Chinese food. In Florida it’s lousy lol
The burgers arent bad but 14.75 USD for that noodle dish is really expensive
I've been meaning to get here. It looks delicious. I'm curious if you've been to Very Fresh Noodles in Chelsea Market? I'm not sure if their food is from the same region, but it looks similar and I love it.
I've been to the one in Chinatown and it's amazing!! I also got the lamb noodles!
The Chinatown location is really good!
Damn, that did look great!
It was very tasty!
Hi UA, new to your channel. Are you Chinese?
You should review how american chinese food is compared to the authentic chinese you had back in china!
Do some soul food, bro! Love your vids ❤
It's definitely on the list!
sarimie instant noodle is another brand in my country
Why everyone in there walkin like a zombie
Tbh I wasn't feeling that energetic either that day. I think it was the weather
Have you seen bizarre foods with Andrew Zimmerman Chicago episode check out the guy with the roast duck
can you review Sadelles brunch in NYC?
Thanks for the rec!
Not sure a about the 😷 thing if you're eating inside and taking it off. But good reviews and good food
Yo you rocking the eagles we need to talk you know what's funny about this my mom used to make similar noodles like that but you did it when she made chicken dumplings and she made noodles like that she's passed now and I miss the chicken dumplings during this she was of course proudly FBA may she rest in peace my great-grandfather was Chinese the railroad you the story
Love you not the eagles hat! Lol
You have way too many ads on your video
Sorry for the inconvenience, I need to make a living though! Plus I need to offset the expense of the food. Though tbh I just have the normal frequency of ads selected so if there has been an uptick beyond normal you'll have to take it up with Google
you not using adblock plus, it's free.
That must have been culture eating steamed frozen vegetables with water salt
youre building a nice little brand here. can i ask who your favorite review host is or was?
I was a fan of Anthony Bourdain before his passing. I loved how openminded he was about all of the world's cuisines and cultures (he actually helped put Xi'an Famous Foods on the map). I also used to really like Adam Richman when he hosted Man Vs. Food. Not just the food challenges but also his passion for food and he seemed like a very likeable guy. I also enjoy Mikey Chen's content as I also like his energy and passion, though to clarify I am not fond of his personal life endeavors.
So overrated this place. If you bathe just about any noodle in chili oil it will take pretty good. I visited the original location in Flushing when it was in a shit hole basement after seeing in on Anthony Bourdain. I thought I was going to faint and die. The businesses piled on gross and stench-filled garbage in one corner of basement by the stairs. I tried to get out quick but I was already fainting from the fumes. I barely found the right door to get the hell out there. I did try the new and cleaner place when it open later but I was underwhelmed. Noodle itself was good because it was handmade. The sauce is just spicy. Nothing special.
Are masks still mandatory in NY?
They are not
This dude is extra chinese, barely opens his eyes. I respect the eating with eyes closed method.
The latest vlog of eaterly shows how overrated Italian food is... N this vlog shows how great authentic Chinese food is
Great content but please stop promoting the mask 😷
The taste is very good but the noddle and dumplings are way over priced. Go try some local Chinese restaurants in Manhattan or Queens is a better choice.
I guess that's not really the point of the review. No harm intended
You're right that the price has gone up. Everything used to be $2-4 cheaper. That plate of noodles used to be $10 when I first ate there. I think inflation has taken its toll. There are still cheaper options but I think Xi'an Famous Foods is better than most spots selling similar food in NYC, besides Flushing, Queens
Looks like everything is unpleasantly spicy or pork. Not appealing.
dude UA doesn't know what he's talking about. Xian Famous is mid. Most of their food is hella salty and flavorless. The noodles are always too oily and really lack flavor beyond salt and MSG. XFF dumplings also suck: overly doughy with a flavorless filling. I think UA is biased.
As far as cheap eats go it’s pretty good
yeh real chinese food is the best on the planet
I agree!
@@uaeats there is too much of it to for anyone to say they dont like it. it all tastes different too.
Very overrated
If mouth rape was a crime, this dude would be doing 25 to life for mouth raping those noodles.
I’m afraid of that spicy cucumber salad. It looks beautiful, but I think it’d be spicier than I can handle. I know, I knows, my whiteness is showing
You should try Eddie V's prime Seafood.
What's with the mask? You should get therapy for your germaphobia. Love your reviews just concerned with your mental health.
That place looks great, one of my must visit places when I visit NYC. I'm Hispanic, and we put a lot of seasoning in our vegetables without seasoning vegetables would be bland.. you are one of my best, you tuber . Keep up the great job 👍.
Yep, for good quality meats I'm all for less is more, but for green veggies seasoning is the way to go imo! And thanks for the kind words!
