I met the boss the(not the young son but his old man) first time over 10 years ago when he still had the original store in the basement in Flushing . I'm happy and proud of him for his success today
Are you sure you met him and not his doppeganger
@@eddiew2325 the boss I am talking is the older man who makes the noodle not his son.
Where is the restaurant located?
@@The10lfunk4 flushing , queens nyc they go over it in yt vid, but its a basement spot thats like lowkey and its actually really busy
the father can't be interviewed. it's a sign that he is a grandmaster of noodle
Ha, true you know they're good when they don't speak English
I'm
The dad's only line in the script:
"One noodle."
It's true, I was the noodle
But I'm sure if he's ever questioned, he'll know how to "use his noodle."😀www.youtube.com/@dr.billschina
I'm a white middle aged guy from Northeast Queens. I used to go to his noodle spot, downstairs, in the Golden Mall. Before Bourdain. It was an experience like none other. Like I didn't belong, my secret. Not anymore. Congrats on your successes.
I think they served pulled pork sandwiches too right?
@Gen C yes spicy lamb is good but I prefer the pork
Loved it when he adjusted his dad's hat.
Mithran NS omg me too ❤️❤️ love their relationship.
If you look closely he only adjusted it cuz the hat was in his way when he tried to eat the noodles.
Because it was a shield to his chopsticks
He looked like Jackie Chan
@@daloflower Not sure how that changes the original intention.
I'm happy they are a thriving success - they deserve it - these noodles look insane.
That menu on the wall mesmerized me, I wish I could try all the dishes there.
"A lot of hands involved, a lot of pulling involved, a lot of slapping of the noodle." lol
Unfortunately for me there is only one hand slapping and pulling my noodle at the moment
@@Lepretr0n Not ambidextrous I assume? Too bad...
Was looking for this comment lol
@@Lepretr0n Unfortunately my noodle is not as long as the one in the video
Its really interesting about how the Chinese cuisine has expanded in authenticity in the US. I'm a caucasian guy who grew up in New York but in the 90's I met my Chinese wife and we would go around in Flushing and in Chinatown and eat at restaurants that catered more for Chinese people but as you said it was predomininently Cantonese cooking where as she was from Dongbei so we would hunt for a taste more from the northeast. In the late 90's we moved to China. We lived in the south for over a decade and now in Beijing for over that as well. I adore Chinese cuisine and have travelled all over the country trying different styles. I have to say Dongbei, Sichuan, Hunan and Xinjiang tastes are my absolute favs I can make Jiaozi and Wontons on my own but now exploring making my own hand pulled and DaoXiao noodles so I just wasnt to say thank you for this video helping me expand my cooking styles!
The breadth of chinese cuisine is really incredible!
The dad's smile as he makes the noodles is honestly where I wanted to be in my culinary journey.
The part where he's washing the dough to take out the dough is interesting. I will visit this place next time I am in NYC.
That's the process of making cold noodles. They wash the dough to get the gluten out leaving the wheat starch liquid behind. The wheat starch is steamed and cut into noodles. The gluten is also steamed but they add yeast to it to make it spongy.
Selena Thomas no you won’t
I love these guys. I visit NYC several times a year, and I always find time to stop by their store. absolutely delicious.
This food is just as delicious as it looks. Each location is just as good as any other and my hope is that they keep expanding until they’re everywhere, like delicious noodle Starbucks. Oh yeah, and the burgers, and dumplings, and soft tofu are wonderful as well.
Now, there's a business plan! And dont stop there, bring all that scrumptious spicy goodness over to the UK. 🤤😋
I would rather they not expand like Starbucks because I am concerned that will make the place deteriorate in quality.
That and I think it's more special when folks from out of town find this restaurant and learn just how good it is.
Hopefully it incentivizes tourists to consider it over Olive Garden.
IN MY VIEW
Whoever filmed this made an outstanding job of showing the noodles amazing texture and the different dishes so precise in visual it looks like we are actually there in person!
On a cold New York City winter night, we would go into the one on 23rd St and order the Spicy Lamb Cumin Noodles and it was heaven! Spicy, Meaty with the lamb, deliciousness in one pot. I would literally not share with my husband. It's so delicious! We've moved to LA now, but this was our favorite winter meal of all time.
I gotta admit, these are some of the best Chinese noodles I've seen in any restaurant. And I don't say that lightly as a Chinese.
I would actually go here.
What a lucky guy to have such a wonderful dad. His passion shows in the way he cooks the noodles.
If I lived anywhere near this place in NYC, I would have finished their entire menu in a month.
This is my dream too. I love food and I always wanted to open up a restaurant that serves food from my hometown. The idea having all kinds of food from all kinds of places and cultures in one city is just marvelous. Let’s hope the restaurants in nyc survive this pandemic, and I’ll go binge eating for a week after this is all over.
Love that the dad is the easy going guy lol. What a great father and son adventure.
Every visit to NYC, soon as the plane touches down I be makin' a beeline to the Chinatown location to have me some spicy lamb dumplings. Best in the world and with all the cumin & spices, you have to catch your breath it's so intense without being hot spicy.
DaveT Chicago yes! I love the cumin and spicy flavor. Even their lamb cumin noodles are amazing
I love this story! Such a balanced team. I love how Dad speaks only at 6:35.
Man I love diversity! I love learning about different cultures and food and I'm Soo lucky that new York has the whole world at its door step!
ngl I feel the same way living here
Not a fan of the current leadership but I definitely like being able to find food from pretty much any given nationality. Sometimes even in the middle of the night.
I liked this video. It shows the people who eats the cooked item. And the joy in their face. Wonderful. Keep it up.
Their food is awesome. Ate there three times in one day ! Long live the noodle makers.
I went to this place once when i went to NYC, foods lit af.
I love you and your Dad. He had a dream and wanted you to be a part of it. Now you’re CEO w/ 15 locations. Good job!
The dad has a very kind face
Wow.. I love the father and son relationship
I was a New Yorker for most of my life. I regret that I am not in New York and can’t come and visit. But when I come back I certainly will come and see you guys. Thanks for sharing
Absolutely no BS. Honest, Honest, Honest! Thank you for this, in a world of lies.
Oh boy, I can smell that noodles on this video.
not to mention the color alone is already tempting.
His Dad is so happy doing what he loves to do! Beautiful!
I know right and that is soooo rare!!!
As a person who survived on Top Ramen and Maruchan, I whole heartedly appreciate this and hope to taste such beautiful Chinese noodle.
Love how his dad is brimming with pride at his longevity noodle
Used to eat here a lot, it was a few blocks away from my house. Nothing short of amazing.
Best noodles I've ever eaten.
I'm from DR and everytime I go yo NYC I have to go eat there.
Beautiful food!
Everytime I eat here I think about Anthony Bourdain, he put this place on the map, hidden secret until he showed the rest of the US how incredible these noodles are. Rip 🙏
I cannot visit NYC without going to Xi'an Famous Noodles.
I could enjoy a vacation just hobnobbing through the menu.
Everytime I visit NY I have to come visit this place it’s amazing
I've always referred to these as "flat noodles"...Didn't realize there were variations and such a rich history!
Amazing!!!! Loved xi’an famous foods since the first time I tried it!
Awww he's eating out the same bowl as his dad, then he flips dad's hat back .😊
Dad, get your hat out of the way of my noodles.
This kind of noodle was my first dish on my first visit to China
I'm adding this to my list of restaurants to go and support once quarantine is over!
You know the video good when the first line of caption is dough banging
I went to this restaurant by chance when I was in NY. The food was amazing! It's super spicy. Unlike the spicy from Thai food that you felt the heat at the tip of your tongue. You felt the heat in your throat.
Black pepper
Hand pulled noodles take 12 years to master professionally
Wow reall??Very interesting. Learned something new.
i can do it in 11
Stabgan - Music not really
I mastered the art of eating them in a day 🤪🤪🤪🤪
I learned in a couple hours.
Can't get any fresher than freshly made hand pulled noodles. I dare say hand pulled noodles are the best noodles.
I had this the last time I was in NYC and it was amazing !
Such a good video!! But lines like "there's a lot of hands involved, pulling, slapping,...." "he will push me to do things i am not comfortable doing" really cracked me up!
Go to the Flushing Queens location on a weekly basis. Can attest this place is great, not just for the Chinese palate, as the clientele is very diverse ethnically.
Those noodles with the sauce looked so damn good. There was no meat or anything and it still look delicious.
Wow.. Loved it. Just WoW. 👍👍👍👍👍
Food doesnt need to be too complex to be delicious enough.. Thats what this episode made me feel.
Im sure gonna try this restuarant this winter.
Damn, these looks delicious. Hope these guys can grow enough to reach my country.
Cool noodles - very appetizing - that is very unique the way you separate the noodle from the base, then you serve it together.
"Proprietary sauce"
My mom: *challenge accepted*
Anyone else have parents who go to restaurants and Sherlock Holmes every single ingredient in each dish? It's become a family game now 😂
goes to any restaurant with mom
Mom: I could do this 10 times better and at a fraction of the price
@@TheLuchonator "We can make this dish at home!"
*Dish at home*: 3 substitutions because "it's basically the same", no MSG because "it's unhealthy to eat that much MSG!", spices came out of the backs of cupboards and are anywhere from fresh to 3 years old "they haven't gone bad YET" 🤣
*3 months later*: Let's go back I need to taste it again
But we love it anyways 😂
It's okay to spend a bit more to eat a version made in a kitchen with a bigger fire/more MSG/whatever reason it tastes better mom! 🤣
TheLuchonator Lol but like you’re cooking it to your own taste buds, so obviously it’s going to taste better. Imagine having to get feedback from all your customers, suggesting this and that. There’s no way you can completely satisfy every single last person’s tastebuds completely.
Also, your labor into making the dish should account for something right? Time is $$$, so unless you don’t value yourself very highly, then I wouldn’t call it making it at the fraction of the cost.
I loved this place, I'm praying that they can weather the COVID crisis and can reopen after this blows through
love you guys.
Beautiful film and story .... I'm so glad u made it
Such lovely food
This was the best video about food i think i have ever watched in my life lol i wanna try this noodle shop's food SO bad but i live on the other side of the States, so unfortunate:((
I have to eat here every time I visit NY.
haha! the personalities of the son and father mix so well in a cartoony kind of way i like that
My absolute favorite place to in NYC. Flawless.
In Malaysia we call this kind of noodle Kuew Teow. Because the action in making this noodle is ripping it and kinda slapping, we use the word "Teow" to scold other people. For example ; "Ah Chen go clean your leftover before I Teow you"
255 565 KweTiaW
Zzz no this is not even the same as kuay teow. Kuay Teow are flat rice noodles made from RICE. The noodles in the video are made of wheat. Also kuay Teow came from southern China, not Xi'an
Strictly Dumpling's videos in Flushing introduced me to Xi'an food, and I finally got to have it in Vancouver. I hope I can make it to NYC eventually to try it there.
K. any recommendations for xi’an food to try in vancouver?
This looks so bomb. Can’t wait to try once this whole thing is over.
Wow a 15 locations amazing
These noodles are f@cking Amazing!
I tried this and it was ok. L.A. has much better noodle shops.
His dad was awesome... we used to go to his place all the time when it was in the basement of of the golden market on 40th street in Flushing.
I want that roujiamo!! 😍😍
Love. Family. Great Food. Great Noodles. 😍
Thank You for this content..

🙆♂️😎🙌
Best noodle bowl I've ever had. Still chasing the high of the flavor in the spicy sauce. Simple and delicious!
I have one Of these near my house! I’m gonna try this place now!
Very beautiful story. I would love to try this food!
You know the dad is bad ass when he has that hat. Reminds me of Karate Kid - Jacky Chan and Jaden
Great music
I'm drolling literally.
That hand ripped noddle looks so exclusive.
Many comments say the noodle looks good. You really have to chew on it to know how great it is. It feels very different than other Chinese noodles which are Cantonese.
I first tried hand pulled noodles in Philly. I've been dreaming of them, ever since. As there's nothing like it. I must try this place!
@Gen C imo it looks completely worth the wait.
one of my favorite places to get noodles, spicier=flavor. Now I have to get some tomorrow on my way home.
Crazy cool Dad!
My husband and I went to his restaurant 2 times last year .that noodle was delicious
Thanks for this video. My parents hometown is in Shaanxi. These are the food I would eat once in a while throughout my childhood. Living in the states for a while now, I never thought I would miss them this much. Thanks!
This is my mom’s home town and I can say by far that xi’an has the best Chinese comfort food 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Only looking at the color, I can tell taste good too.
Great story! Love NYC!
you now have an investor called Kelvin Mbugua the boy genius
man does that look awesome
Such a fascinating video - truly iconic!
Hands down the best Chinese noodles I ever had, you literally crave for it, I tried it a few times back when they use to have another restaurant called “Biang” in flushing.
This place is so good.
His pops looks like Jackie Chan and I love it
Them noodles look good.
damn seeing such high quality food for so cheap makes me feel so weird, i guess that's one of the disadvantages of living in a really expensive country lol
I want to come to NY and eat here!!!
loved it
