I know this is an older post, but I wanted to mention that I buy unbleached cheesecloth and wrap chicken (or turkey) in the cheesecloth before cooking it down for soup. It makes keeping the bones out of the soup so much easier.
Yes, when she poured the juice out from the salmon, it brought tears to my eyes. I lost my favourite dog June 2022 and he LOVED when I opened a can of tuna - he always got that juice!

I needed inspiration, thank you. I transitioned from very low carb to carnivore 3 weeks ago. Already feeling difference in my body especially less pain in feet from neuropathy. Fantastic! I would add measurements to weight. Measurements are a much better tracker than weight as recomposition - bone density and muscle weighs more and can make folks think they're stalled or not succeeding when, in fact, they are making huge strides in their health.
Bacon drippings are liquid gold but there is another element that a lot of us are losing out on. Using paper or foil loses all of that fond. I have been thinking about doing something like what I do with my steaks when I cook them on my stainless and making pan sauces after I pull the steak. I believe that some of the higher end companies make heavier baking sheets (like All Clad). I want to try making my bacon right on the baking sheet and after pouring out the drippings, bringing them up to a high temp over two of my oven burners and doing the same technique of getting them up to a good temp and then dropping in some beef broth while scraping down the sheet. I just feel when I make bacon seeing all of those brown bits lost to the trash rather than in my food.
After baking bacon, drain off the grease and scrape drippings into a jar. If there is a lot of cooked on drippings that were left on the pan, just add a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of water to the pan and let it sit for 20 minutes or longer. No need to reheat the baking sheet. Scrape pan again and drain liquid into a new jar. Use to add flavor to a soup or sauce.
Yes, it can be restrictive and boring but that just depends on the person. I'm not a big meat eater. Sure I can eat a lb of bacon a day, but I can't accept that that's good for me. I have to eat some seafood and low carb veggies and fruit.
I’m so excited that you are losing again. Over 145 pounds, WOW! Great accomplishment! Your meals look delicious. Are you weighing out the amount of meat you are eating? I had eggs and sardines the other day and it was delicious. Thank you so much for sharing these meals with us. It helps tremendously. I’m trying more protein and less fat. Hopefully I’ll get going again too. Hugs Anita! Love your channel! ❤️🕊️
I wanted to share a recipe of something I have been makin'. I'm on an OMAD and STRICTLY carnivore with Monday all day fasting! It's a 3 day - "seafood casserole" kind of creation. Consists of a can of Albacore tuna in spring water, a can of sardines - wild caught in water and a vacuum packed large piece of wild caught alaskan salmon (coho or sockeye) from Trader Joes, all cooked on my outside covered grille. I put the salmon on a foil boat out on the covered grille and while its cookin' - about 12 minutes, I make a foil boat platter with about 24" of foil, folded long way in1/2 and then cup up the outer edge (about an inch) to make a boat. Then scoup in the tuna (after draining water) and the anchovies drained and break up it all and stir it up. After the salmon cooks (about 15 minutes) I scoup it into the mixture and break it all up and stir it in. Then I scoup it all into the foil boat and flatten it out and put a couple scoups of beef tallow (fat) on top for oil. Then back in to the grille for about 10 -15 more minutes. But I also take about 6 local free range raw eggs whipped in a bowl and pour it on top and kind of stir it in. In 10 minutes I have a 3 day casserole that I divide in three and last me for 3 meals (days)! It only comes to about $5 per day to eat! It's awesome!! (I really can't taste a fish taste after cooking - it's amazing and SUPER nutritious!)
What a perfect video!!! Your mom was right on with that chicken soup too! Once a month I add chicken wings/ back and feet to my bone broth as it has a different type of collagen than other meats. I think there is something in that Type II collagen that is so healing for us, hence all the wives tales about chicken soup being medicine! 🙂 So happy to see the pups in this one too!! I love that Terri got to benefit from your awesome new smoking talent! All of that meat just started my drool response! We love and appreciate you Terri!!!!!🤗💖
Yes, my Mom was right about so many things! I didn't realize why until you mentioned Type II collagen, I was not aware of that! Buying chicken feet too next time I'm at the market!
@@KetogenicWoman Feet⁉🐓feet in Ontario are more expensive than the 🐓chicken…oh, I buy them…and feed it as a most nutritious 🐓dinner to my chihuahua …Who just loves them‼‼ Gladys🇨🇦Toronto🇨🇦
I also have the Ninja Foodi XL Grill and I air fry a lb of bacon in it at 390f. The way I get the lb of bacon spread out in the grill is I bought the Aieve stainless steel drying rack that has three levels from Amazon. for a bit over twenty bucks US I saw another You Tuber do this and it works very well, multiple lbs of bacon can be done in series as it only takes ten to twelve minutes per batch for crispy bacon. You a can fit more than lb on the rack, I just don't cook more than a lb at a time. The rendered bacon fat is recoverable from the pan in the grill.
When I make any soups I boil the water on the stove for a few minutes and then let it sit for a day so that any of the chemicals in the water can evaporate. I think it improves the taste.
Thank you! So happy for you on with the movement of the scale! Your diligence has pay off! That smoker/grill looks wonderful! Sockeye Salmon is better. Fresh from Costco, BJs, or Sam's Club. You can fry it for your breakfast with your other stuff or buy the Sockeye in the can. Better than the pink. I love your videos! I'm doing carnivore but I started stalled 😂 I lost on the first day and from there nothing else. I'm not sure I'm doing something wrong. Maybe too much butter. Looking forward to your results at the end of the month 😀
Great video, Anita. Hooray for 145 pounds lost!! What a great achievement I’m so proud of you, and that you are sharing all this and inspiring others on their journey as well. I was wondering about your chuck roast you said we love chuck roast, but ours is nice and flat and yours looked sick. I was wondering about that, only because that looks so good. I would like to try that too but I wanna make sure I get the right meet lol.
I've had many different sizes and thickness of chuck roasts and steaks! It will say either chuck or blade. Here in Canada they are mostly labeled as blade unless you go to a butcher.
Your most recent weight loss is really showing. Your biggest weight loss from the beginning is too, of course, but recently what you are doing is really paying off by bringing you much closer to your goal.
Dear Anita, this looks really delicious. I am just a bit concerned about the fish. The scientist recently found out that a significant amount of microplastics and PFAS are stored in salmon, shrimp and cod; others as well.
Thank you! I liked the idea of adding the seafood as you are with your beef. I don't know why I never thought of it, I'll try it. I was wondering if there's any food's you have introduced and particularly noticed changed health? A while back I started taking Red Krill Oil supplements for inflammation relecommended by a Functional GP, but was sceptical about whether or not they helped. I ran out and hadn't been taking them for a week and that's when I realised that they had significantly reduced my inflammation. I was so surprised. I don't love taking the pills though so hope to start introducing more omega 3's in my meals. Thank you for the tip's! 😊
