Welcome to Discover Wisconsin’s mini-series Touring Small Town Wisconsin.
Renowned golf course at Erin Hills. Pilgrimages to Holy Hill. Old Fashioned Ice Cream at Scoop DeVille. Wisconsin's Automotive Museum - all this and more in Hartford, Wisconsin.
In this episode, join Eric Paulsen on his visit to Hartford and all of the great destinations in the area. Nestled in the beautiful countryside northwest of Milwaukee, take the scenic highway 83 to enjoy a classic Wisconsin drive if you're coming from the south!!
After arriving in Hartford, Eric checks into the Cobblestone Hotel, which is perfectly situated one block from Main Street. With big city quality, and small town values, it’s no wonder the best getaways begin at Cobblestone - the official hotel chain partner of Discover Wisconsin. www.staycobblestone.com
After checking in, he heads down from his room to the Wissota Chophouse to meet hotel owner Jeremy Griesbach for local beers, apps and info! Learn about some of the area's best attractions including golf courses, beautiful churches, a historic downtown Main Street, and the Wisconsin Automotive Museum!
The next day, Eric rises early to check out Pike Lake - part of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Joining up with the Ice Age Trail, there's a short hike to a great view of the town and of Holy Hill from the tower up at Powder Hill. Holy Hill is home to the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, which is open to the public and draws hundreds of thousands of pilgrims and sightseers every year.
Next up is a stroll through Main Street downtown that leads Eric to Scoop DeVille - an old-fashioned parlor serving homemade ice cream, malts, sandwiches & classic candies. He talks to Owner Ray Stelzer about his beautiful place and tries out a superb sundae!
Eric finishes off his trip with a tour of the Wisconsin Automotive Museum! He’s so excited to share this one - it’s one of Wisconsin's best small town museums - with hundreds of vehicles from 1902 into the 1990s, there's something for everyone.
