Hi Adam, Pete from England here. I just love all your video, but especially the ones where you visit small towns and show us all their idiosyncrasies. I've never been to the States but feel I've got to know so much about it from your work that many Americans would be unaware of. Love it when Ma & Pa come too. Keep up the good work, I appreciate it so much!
Those calves you saw are in "Calf Hutches"...the vast majority of dairy calves live in a calf hutch for the first weeks of life. Housing calves in hutches allows calves with immature immune systems to receive individualized care during the most crucial part of their lives. With a calf living in an individual hutch farmers can see exactly how much milk and other feed they consume and can see the consistency of their manure, both are an important indicator of health.
@@roxanneswanson4500 You are right. Those calves are taken from their mothers to keep "mom" producing milk to sell. The young ones are either raised for milk production, veal or if allowed to grow up, they are headed to the slaughter house.
There are several around the country, mostly in the mid west and north east. One I stopped at in PA served a great hamburger. Not sure exactingly where it was, I'd say in mid state up toward the NY boarder. Got a picture of it on the wall here.
Y'know, if someone had asked me, "Do you want to watch a video about some guy from Florida that you don't know who is vacationing in Iowa and Wisconsin?" I would have replied "Are you out of your mind?!?" And yet, day after day.... here I am! Well Done! Beautiful '39 Ford in that gas station. I got married using my brother's '39 Ford.
I can NOT emphasize enough the magnificence and glory of the Grotto experience.!!! The detail, craftsmanship, perfection and old world ambience contained in this SUPERB Shrine makes it worth a roadtrip to go see at least once in a person,'s life.!!! Thank you ever so for showing me this MOST auspicious Holy Tribute!!!
I woke up kinda gloomy this morn. But then i see your travels through sou'west Wisconsin. These videos really take me back to some good times when I would fill up the tank of my Magna motorbike, travellin' nowhere in particular all day, cruising over Dade county into Amish country. THX Adam! Keep doing these, please! You made my day!
I kept stopping and rewinding and veiwing frames. That grotto had such amazing and beautiful details. What a treasure! Loved every minute of this video, Thank you for sharing
I’m traveling with you almost every day… You are my one heck of a guider who let me see how America looks like.. I really enjoy watching every single step you make! I hope you understand my English! Many thanks from South Korea.
I love Wisconsin,, going up this summer MY Late Father had a Dairy Farm, north of Highway 8 my Little brother now takes care of it,, so many little towns and Backroads.
Watching this so reminds me of us 6 kids being stuffed in a station wagon on a roadtrip!! I remember my folks trying to incorporate "teaching/learning" moments in new places reading plaques and looking at old buildings .I have to say im a LOT more INTERESTED NOW!!Watching you and your mom roadtripping !! Its more fun from the couch?? Lol.Nah...ive just gotten older and i appreciate you n your mom showing us these beautiful small quirky towns❤ Such neat places in America I never knew about but want to go visit myself now!!Thanks again for sharing some positive interesting homegrown footage about these sweet little towns.
Great video, too bad you didn’t go a little north to the Driftless Country. I’m from Prairie du Chien, fantastic area, all the more reason to come back!
I don't like the Midwest called in the 'middle of nowhere'. That's kind of like a city folk statement, like using 'flyover country' as if it isn't anywhere important. Remember when you go grocery shopping, where does a lot of your food come from. Not from the big cities, that's for sure.
Man is it a relief to see a video from Wisconsin. I sent my dad the last two videos because he loves Field of Dreams and then he wrote me last night and said that Iowa just had a few tornadoes. I let out a noise like a bassett hound who got his tail stepped on. Glad you didn't go to southern Iowa instead! #ProtectMrtheWoo
I always look forward to your small town vlogs. You’re bringing positive attention to these towns and hopefully showing others that they still have life in them and not all rundown
City folks tend to live in there big bubble and know nothing of the real American small towns. Maybe they think of them as just a pit stop off the interstate. Off the interstate, gas up, fast food and back on the interstate.
@@iworkout6912 I’m a city folk myself and I get it but it’s good to know that there are towns that are kept up very well by the people who take pride in them
Another great backroads video. When you said Wisconsin, I thought maybe you'd do Beloit College. When my daughter was looking there, during the tour, we found out that Beloit College and Professor Roy Chapman Andrews was the real-life inspiration to Indiana Jones. The "Cowlien" came from the Milkyway and that is not udderly ridiculous. The 1940 Ford is what MY grandparents used to cross the country that same year along Route 66. Calves in large dog sheds are not uncommon. I see that in Pa. all the time. You seem obsessed with water towers. You should go to Weirton, W.V. where Super 8 was filmed. Thanks for another good one. Hi to all.
WONDERFUL 👏 VIDEO, Adam. Truly enjoyed the people, places and animals. There were several great moments: vintage service station, The Grotto in Dickeyville, WI was so unique! 🙏 Thank you.
Adam you should take your mom to pepin wi its a small town but there's alot to do with little house on the prairie there and the Laura Ingalls wilder highway has alot to do with it too beautiful area there
Adam, love your old town videos best. I think its so interesting to see place Ive never been to, this seems to be such a peaceful town to live in. IGA … independent grocers alliance.
Beautiful visit again ! I have particularly loved the colored grotto and its church...It makes me think about a palace made of stones too, called « postman Cheval s ideal palace » situated in the town of Hauterives, France were a postman, in the old times, gathered stones after its work and built a palace on his own...A pleasure to watch the old houses too. Have a good time with your family ❤
Brother...i used to go wandering with my mom in white mts NH in her Caddy...never knew she enjoyed that,,,we call it rubbernecking..had alot of fun...thanks again my friend...she has been gone 2 yrs now...but always in my heart and mind...thank you for reminding me of those awesome times...so people don't get just dubbing around..i love it...thanks to you i can still do it while at home...hold on to mom tight...your a good son...carry on ....shall you? i think so!!
I didn't know how I'd feel about your small town journey, but I absolutely love these videos! I've lived in Nashville now for many years but am from a small town in Kentucky. Though I'm not sure I'd want to live there again, the charm of these places is undeniable. ❤
You were in my town of Dubuque Iowa 😊👍👍👍. I love your vids man. SW Wisconsin has a lot of history as you had experienced there. If you’re back there ever hit up the Village Bar in Kieler WI. Best Prime Rib steak of your life.
Welcome to my home state! I'm not as familiar with the southwestern part of the state so enjoying this video. I'm a born and raised Southeastern Wisconsin resident so looking forward to seeing you in Milwaukee later this month when the Rays are in town. I'm a ticket taker at American Family Field ( a lot of the locals still call it Miller Park) and I always work in the clocktower so crossing my fingers you'll come in that entrance.
Adam, what beautiful country where the UFO was and beautiful old towns! Really enjoyed your video. Never seen a grotto and that was really beautiful! Looking forward to your next vlog. Safe travels!
The Midwest is the real America. Real people with real values and will be the reason this country survives this current “situation “. Well done Adam. Mom Woo you are awesome and I always look forward to seeing you on the vlog.
Thank you, Adam, for a wonderful video! ✨🤓✨ Love the small towns, and the Grotto was just beautiful and amazing! 💐 p. s. The statue is not Mary Magdalene, but is Jesus' mother Mary. The scene is a depiction of Our Lady of Fatima. 🌿🌹🌿 Loved the gas station too! 🌾🌻🌾
Love following your journey. The calvess are in what I have heard called "veal huts"...the calves are limited on their movements and are raised to be nice, tender, delicious veal.
We grew up in Cuba City. The train car there is a small museum. The corner building was a bank, thus the burglar alarm. You missed stopping at the award winning Gile’s Cheese and Weber Meats stores. I don’t know if you are traveling a little more north in Wisconsin but here are some other little tidbits that I think you would like: Dr. Evermore, Arena Cheese (best cheese curds & created Colby Jack cheese), Cave of the Mounds, House on the Rock
Words cannot express how much I miss Hyvee. I’m in Florida now and wish we had one here. Also I am from Iowa originally so I am really appreciating these videos. I’d love it if you spent some more time in Cedar Rapids.
Been enjoying your channel for quite a while now, but can't say I ever would've expected The Daily Woo to be in my neighborhood. Nevertheless, there you were when you drove through Kieler (pronounced Keeler, BTW)... hope you enjoyed the area!
Cuba City is too cool!!! It is an excitingly historic town with all kinds if cool buildings n places to venture into n the City of Presidents moniker n idea for entitling that by putting all of them on the poles throughout the town is unique. The baby cow houses on the side of the street are sooo sweet, n the Tin Lantern Motel n corresponding antique shop in town are awesome ss well as The Dead End Bar all look totally inviting to me!!

Wrong.. they are VEAL HOUSES.. they lock the calf’s in there so they can’t move. To keep the meat tender. They will never make it to be a cow.
Thank you for providing that information. 👍 So interesting and happy to know the calf’s health is monitored so closely.
You sure they are not Veal Cows?
@@roxanneswanson4500 You are right. Those calves are taken from their mothers to keep "mom" producing milk to sell. The young ones are either raised for milk production, veal or if allowed to grow up, they are headed to the slaughter house.
@@roxanneswanson4500 It's a common misconception that calf hutches are the same as veal crates, that's not the case

The Texaco garage reminds me of a scene in a 90s films called Bird on a Wire starring Mel Gibson
