- Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance Marches - Land of Hope and Glory, conducted by David Robertson with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Chorus - backed up by the enthusiastic & lively audience at the Royal Albert Hall, and nationwide at the Proms in the Park events

I pray that in the future, the BBC will perform this classic march in memory of Patricia Janeckova, the legendary Slovakian operatic and classical-crossover soprano who went home to be with the Lord last year after a heroic battle with cancer.

I'm proud to say this still brings a tear to my eye, every time.
We may not display our patriotism 24/7, 365 but when we do, it is heard around the world. Britain has always been a changing picture but, at its core, there is still much for which we should be proud and grateful.

No, it isn't.
It started out with a small country call England, and went on to be the United Kingdom, and ruled the largest Empire in the history of the world .
one that did more good, much more good, than harm. It gave us (the world) so much that we take for granted today: parliament (except in the U.S., alas), common law, the presumption of innocence, science, engineering, fantastic music, etc. Be proud. I’m American but feel like the U.K. is part of me. 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧
An Empire on which the sun never set. And which provided Africa with fair play and the rule of law, qualities which are sadly lacking in the Africa of today.
Hopefully our hardships will pass and we can look to the future with hope and positivity :)

You have plenty of marches by John Phillip Sousa to use. The Liberty Bell March sounds like an obvious candidate to me, given its title and its singable tune. All you have to do is write some suitable lyrics ...

David Roberston is an extraordinary conductor, my favourite! His orchestra bursts with emotion, feelings, and love. My secret wish is that he'll become the new conductor of the Los Angeles Symphonic Orchestra (Disney Hall). I would be full of honour and happiness!
