I am not american, I'm a Brit, but I love the way you revere your Armed forces and respect those who serve. Our 2 countries have been through so much together, and we'll continue to stand together as friends and allies. May God bless America, and May He bless the special relationship that prevails between the USA and the UK.
@bobhutton1409. As an American, we appreciate our allies and their support. The Commonwealth needs more solidarity also in modern times, I'm just thinking about the future. May Christ bless the UK and the USA and you, sir always in all ways 😇.
My dad was stationed at the 8th U.S. Army-Air Force Headquarters outside of Cambridge, England, during World War II, so his stories were how I came to love the British people.
My great great grandfather walked the Trail of Tears to Indian Territory when he was 7 yrs old. His mother died at the hands of the US Army along the way. They lost everything and he and his father started life all over. His Faith kept him strong and when The Civil War broke out, he found Forgiveness, joined the North and fought in The Indian Homeguard. My family always looks back to the hard way of finding Forgiveness that he must had come to terms with. We are Indians. But, we are nobody's victim! God Bless your spirit, Grandpa John.
Freedom isn't free such history your family has there was a movie many years ago "Glory" it was about a black Regiment during the Civil War. Was a great movie. I'll see if the library has it. Would love to see it again. The music was beautiful.
My Grandfather was a colombian soldier during the Korean war, part of the colombian battalion, fighting side by side with the american soldiers. God blees this great continent.
The only country from Latin America to be part of the UN coalition. I meet a gentleman from Bogota his uncle was an officer in the army and always talked about his experience over there.
The man who sang it was Charles McCabe, an Army chaplain. It was at a meeting of the Christian Commission in the Capitol Building. Chaplain McCabe was born and raised in Athens, Ohio. We are now trying to raise funds to put up an historical marker near his birthplace. The story is that Lincoln stood up with a tear in his eye, and said to McCabe, "Sing it again."
@@thebeaz1 Well I’ve contacted several nationally known music historians who say the story is well documented. So, I’m in a quandary about this: do I believe them, or an anonymous poster on the Internet? It’s quite a dilemma! ;-)
Yes, I believe it...God is everywhere & in our hearts regardless of geographical location. Freedom is beautiful & very much worth shedding tears. God bless your open soul!
I'm Greek. My Granddad fought against the reich and was imprisoned in Mauhthausen, Austria in WW2. He was freed by the US. Troops. God Bless America. Much love from Hellas
Nothing but respect for the Greeks. Without your philosophers the ideals and our way of life would of never existed. Without your ancestors bravery against tyrants, we not of had the example to follow in the defense of democracy and justice. Thank you for what your country gave us and gave the world.
The thing the Nazis hated more than the Jews were those who fought against them. I have have heard it said by a survivor that ' Auschwitz was a holiday camp compared to the hell that was Mauthausen!'. God bless your brave grandad. True hero!
My grandfather lied about his age and joined the United States Army at the age of 14. He served this country for 44 years before he retired. I remember him playing this song all the time while I was growing up and even up until his last days. This song reminds me of my him every time I hear it. He was always proud of his military career, but most of all, we were proud of him.
My grandad did the same during WW2. He was 14, ran away from home and lied about his age to join the merchant marines. They eventually found out and sent him back home mid-deployment. He then lied again and joined the 82nd airborne division of the army. That generation is called the greatest for a reason. They saw things you and I can't even imagine at that age. Like most vets he never liked to talk about the war.

When my chorus did this arrangement we changed that line to "Let us LIVE to make men free!" The work of freedom is everpresent and ongoing and requires constant effort and perseverence. Dying for freedom is an absolute last resort.
@@jrp55262 That may be true, that it is the last resort, but it is a battle hymn.. People died in the Civil War, and by and large, even the conservatives do not display the willingness to put their lives on the line that we saw, even in WW II. This is partly that the reasons for a war have become more complex and reflect a desire, often to avoid a bigger war by fighting a smaller war.
We are fighting a war since the dems TOOK POWER IN 2020. 4 years ago. 4 is the # of salvation.....Father, Son, Holy Spirit & the one re- Receiving salvation. As a veteran of the U.S. Army, thank you for this beautiful piece of music. I remember growing up hearing it and I was a VERY patriotic kid in the 80s. God bless us and please Lord, help us get our act back together. Americans should NEVER be at each others throats. I didn't fight for the DIVIDED States of America, I fought for the UNITED States.
Last time we were this divided, the Democrats were complaining about freeing their slaves. Republicans kicked Democrat ass in the last civil war, and Republicans will kick Democrat ass again in the next civil war.
The modern variant amongst the more liberal set is to make it less war like by changing that line to read. "As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free"
John Brown believed God had chosen him to destroy slavery and died trying to attack the Slavery Capital of Kansas, he was and is a hero for his belief in freedom for all races
Tears fell from this Vietnam veteran's eyes. listening to this wonderful performance--- makes me proud I served my country, and the memory of my friend and comrade Walter Soutar who got killed over there will remain in my heart and soul forever till I join him..

Haven’t heard this song in decades, but still love it. I’m sorry for your loss, and I hope your husband is smiling down upon you and your family. I remember singing this in Elementary School, and I still get choked up today. (Mid 40’s retired military myself now).

The Gospel: JESUS died for our sins on the cross, HE shed HIS holy, innocent , precious blood for us (HIS blood washes away ALL sins) HE was buried but on the third day GOD raised HIM from the dead. I’m an Australian, but have never heard anything as beautiful as this. What an incredible piece of music, impeccably delivered with absolute harmonies and military precision. To those who have given the thumbs down to this, I suggest you listen to this to again and reconsider your vote. Incredible.
I remember the days long ago when thumbs down votes were actually numbered publicly, not hidden, and you could depend on being told exactly how many people viewed AND approved . . .

@@Catamaran404 This is a BATTLE hymn. It was sung by and for men marching off to a just war, many of whom would be killed but knowingly went into battle anyway, to fight the traitors that were trying to rip the country asunder in order to perpetuate slavery. Our family chose the Battle Hymn of Republic to be sung when my brother's flag drapped casket was to be carried out of church by U.S. Army Honor Guard to his final resting place. My brother was a Civil War reenactor and a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard who passed away in Afghanistan while in service to his country. God bless you Christopher and all the men and women who have perished defending are way of life. Freedom is not free.
I am so glad they didn't change the lyric to "Let Us Live to Make Men Free." I hate it when people do that. It's a slap in the face to the hundreds of thousands of men who did die during the Civil War.
"As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free." How does one not come to tears at the hearing of these words. And we gave so much to the world and our posterity. @Tron-Jockey, you're acting like the celebrity-tards & "sjw's" which proclaim themselves rebels/revolutionaries/dissidents but which advocate exactly what the ruling class promote. The delusional morons who spew & parrot all the propaganda of the regime, who demand & fight for exactly what the regime promotes, yet proclaim themselves "dissidents/rebels" opposed to the regime. america hasnt gone fascist, its been a bolshevik entity & has been so for a very long time. FDR worshipped Stalin. The ussr bolsheviks openly proclaimed themselves at war w/all govts of the world shortly after they conquered Russia. Btw, that bolshevik "revolution" was planned, organized, funded, etc straight out of new york city by bankers like max warburg. Lev Bronstein (known by his camouflage name trotsky) was here during the planning stage. Where do you think they got all those weapons & everything? It was done out of america, & that was over 100 yrs ago. Anyway though, FDR was a closeted communist. He gave Stalin's ussr legal recognition despite the fact that that was a regime openly proclaiming itself at war w/everyone else & determined to overthrow all other govts. FDR legitimized the ussr in 1933, very shortly after he conned his way into the white house. america did all in its power to provoke what became WWII & fought AGAINST fascist countries. america fought for bolshevism. And that was a long time ago. Point being, only dim witted delusionals can try to claim america is fascist. Only idiots who think Nazi's somehow secretly took over after WWII - despite relentless anti Nazi measures everywhere - can claim america is fascist. We know that the ussr had massively penetrated the power structure of america. Not only was FDR a closeted bolshevik, many of his minions in extremely powerful/sensitive positions were also literally working for Stalin & on his payroll. Fascism never cynically &/or falsely preached the notion of all hominids & sexes of hominids being e-qual, but bolsheviks have preached that. america preaches that. Fascism is opposed to tranny children. And the rest of the poz. Fascism got crushed by 4 global superpowers (the british empire ruled over a quarter of hominids during WWII, the French had an absolutely gigantic empire too, as did the ussr, as did america. Together they controlled the Earth's resources whereas the Europeans had a relatively barren resource starved penninsula & they got hellstormed/firebombed into the stone age). Fascism is against the hyper-capitalism that turns many of even the best men into beastly animals. The american system transforms vast swathes of the population, the masses, the proletariat, into literal cattle. Farm animals. Slaves. The literal chains arent metal anymore, they're so called "income tax," they're the "cost of living," they're the time clock at "work." And the american hybrid hyper-capitalistic communism system wrecks & wastes almost everything. It "produces" just to waste. Think about how much has been/is wasted creating "happy meal toys" alone. Or how instead of growing useful vegetation we expend gigantic resources on grass which we only use/grow b/c women claim to like the way it looks, a purely decorative non useful practice. Imagine if we instead grew food or something. Fascism was the one system which actually cares about the well being of the masses. In all other systems, the well being of the majority of the population is the least important thing. In america all that matters is "muh economy" & inflating things like houses (now built of plywood & glue) into supposed cash cows worth vast sums of shekels (so vast that younger generations cant realistically even hope to "own" a house, even a mediocre house, at all ever unless there's a genuine revolution which conservi-tards like you most likely are will oppose cuz, when push comes to shove, conservi-tards/cuckservatives always side w/"godless atheistic bolsheviks" & ally with them to crush genuine dissidents).

As a black person who grew up in black churches (specifically AME) this songs always moves me to tears. We used to always sing this song during black history month. It always gives me chills when I think of all those men who despite being scared, and knowing they could meet death, were driven to preserve the union and free the millions held in bondage in the south because they felt it was the right thing to do. Just leaves me speechless
Does the song move you to tears because you are a black person growing up in black churches or because of its historical significance? The politicians and media have now convinced seemingly everybody to view things through a racial lens. What is a “white woman of color” and what’s up with all the weird, improper capitalizations? I’m convinced people are getting dumber. The song is historically significant because the civil war was killing Americans on both sides. All casualties were Americans. This started a much needed transformation in America that ultimately led to where we are today. You know, back to prefacing thoughts with racial qualifications. This woke shit is going to lead to another civil war. How horrific is that? Your second paragraph is perfect without the preface. The second comment is just a woke ass liberal who offered nothing significant but peddles the woke crap currently dividing our society. We’re screwed if this stuff continues.
@Nnam thank you for your service! On our way home from our family vacation yesterday, we drove through Philadelphia, MS. So this morning I’m watching “Mississippi Burning” in tears. It’s so hard to watch what taught hatred does to people. It’s so sickening and gut wrenching to believe this was America. Sadly, it’s reminding me of the hate that #45 is still shouting out to his worshipers😢 Learning how close we came to losing our nation to a wanna be tyrant/dictator/king is making this 4th of July a somber and reflective holiday. Praise the Lord for the ppl who kept their oath and didn’t sell out to #45’s schemes. What is up with the White Woman of Color reference? I agree about the woke crap. The extremes on both sides are dangerous.

John Brown was a hero, undaunted, true and brave, And Kansas knows his valor when he fought her rights to save; Now, tho the grass grows green above his grave, His soul is marching on. He captured Harper’s Ferry, with his nineteen men so few, And frightened "Old Virginny" till she trembled thru and thru; They hung him for a traitor, themselves the traitor crew, But his soul is marching on. John Brown was John the Baptist of the Christ we are to see, Christ who of the bondmen shall the Liberator be, And soon thruout the Sunny South the slaves shall all be free, For his soul is marching on. The conflict that he heralded he looks from heaven to view, On the army of the Union with its flag red, white and blue. And heaven shall ring with anthems o’er the deed they mean to do, For his soul is marching on. Ye soldiers of Freedom, then strike, while strike ye may, The death blow of oppression in a better time and way, For the dawn of old John Brown has brightened into day, And his soul is marching on.

My father, a WWII veteran, went on his final mission last night. From the rolling hills of his boyhood farm to the struggles in the South Pacific theater or throughout his life, dad never complained. Whether it be walking behind the plow, enduring the eternity of "forever" being soaked in the jungles of the Philippines or the machine and labor work he found himself in throughout his career, dad stayed focused on the job breaking stride only for the meal at hand or an allotted water reprieve. You ask "how do I know he was like this in the times when I did not even exist"....? Being with him through the days and months and years that we had together is evidence enough, for me. He WAS part of the generation that gave l i f e and m e a n i n g to the words - FREEDOM and SACRIFICE. It is tough, realizing the fact that I can no longer speak to him and give him a hug and say "I love you", here. Yet, as the last song he sang with my sister the day before he went Home says, "Glory, Glory Hallelujah ......HIS truth is marching on" - it speaks of hope - in the 'One Faithful and True', rest - with a "peace that passes a l l understanding" and a courage - to fulfill the call of lifting high the banner of the One and True Living God, who sustained dads march through this life of 97 years - Jesus Christ. Rest well dad. Until I too cross unto the golden shores.

How many brave Americans particularly Pilots enlisted in the Canadian Forces and never made it home? And in WWI - Shamefully neutral. Funding NATO - Shamefully neutral. The Cold War - Shamefully Neutral. Every German fighter I ever spoke to said that if the US did not get involved they, the Germans, would have won. I have been told from Germans that the best thing that ever happened to their family was when the war ended that they were in the American sector of occupied Germany. And those in the Soviet Sector...well you know. You're welcome.
Colin McDonald Typical whining Brit jingoism. Ask yourself what the Indians think of the British. Or the Australian Aboriginals. Or the Maori, the Irish, the Argentinians etc. If the British, in their cold blooded lust for vengeance against Germany after WW I armistice, had negotiated a "just" treaty at Versailles, WWII would not have happened. Maybe then the world would have been spared the genocidal implementation of another great British invention - the concentration camp... The Brits love to overplay their role in WWII. The reality was that their role was minor compared to the USSR and the USA.
I'm English, living in England. I'm not religious, but this song is so rousing and makes my heart swell. We used to sing it at school when I was little. Beautifully done all of you, thank you 💕
Religion is man's attempt to reach God, Jesus is God's attempt to reach mankind. I hope one day you can know Jesus and be free as this song says, 'He died to make men holy.'
Dear Aubrey, your spirit is moved by this song giving praise to the most high God! Jesus is coming back to judge the world in righteousness. Are you born again? Are you ready for his soon return?
I’m a Filipino and these are the songs we used to sing during my childhood until we’re in middle school !!! Thanks for liberating the Philippines from the hand of the Japanese Army !!!
My father was with the 45th Infantry (Philippine Scouts) and fought on Bataan. He was a POW of the Japanese for over three years but survived. He loved the Philippines and her people to the day he died in 1991. Mabuhay.
This song fills me with pride and I’m not even American, I’m Aussie and I can only imagine the sacrifice the allied soldiers put themselves through in the last century to defend those who couldn’t defend themselves. Respect to all those around the world who die so the rest of us may stay free!

As a Chinese, this really makes me want to cry. As long as Americans stand upright and free in this world, there is hope. I hope China can one day become a country like the United States.
I hope that China may one day be free. We thought we were doing a really great thing by developing China into an economic powerhouse and upliting hundreds of millions out of poverty. The idea was that economic freedom would inevitably lead to political freedom. Instead, it has just empowered a monstrous regime. We are deeply sorry. The Star Spangled Banner contains four verses, although we typically only hear the first verse sung. Check out the full version if you haven't heard it, they evoke similar imagery.
"As He died to make men holy, Let us die to make men free" Always has been an extremely powerful line for me, especially when you remember it was written during the American Civil War, and is what I personally believe makes the song so impactful. Hearing it sung the way it was in this video only reinforced that belief. Though I have heard other performances of this song substitute "let us die to make men free" with "let us live to make men free", which always throws me off.
Ironic that they are saying it is too “gruesome” to include that line in, when it was most often soldiers singing this on the frontlines in the civil war. Ultimately changing it to live undermines the martyrs of our country, for they did die to keep us free, not live.
@@Fred-mp1vf Yes but this song isn't about living and never was. You think soldiers want to hear the message that they should live to set mankind free while they die? As if their fears of dying are not already at its highest? Saying their death has a meaning and a righteousness brings relief to the main audience of the song, that being the soldiers on the front lines themselves, where they have found peace in their death knowing it was for a valiant and divine cause.

This makes me so emotional I can’t hold tears and I’m a grown ass man. 1st generation immigrant from Russia who loves his America to death. God Bless the USA.
Thank you! Russia and USA may never be friends it seems. I suppose Russia is the Carthage to our Rome. However, I know many patriotic USA loving Russian immigrants and I can honestly say America is stronger and better because of you all and your contributions. Thank you for being a fellow American and Son of our Republic! God Bless.
C0I5 Gaming USA is a human nation, therefore it’s not perfect. However, USA has the ability to improve itself over time if it so chooses. Our Republic and it’s citizens have a good feel for right vs wrong and we are allowed to express ourselves freely and exercise power to correct our national course. A big problem we have is that we stopped heeding the words of our first President after WW2, which was to stay out of foreign entanglements. The American Republic was never designed to field military bases all over the world, nor was it designed to handle imperial ambitions and colonies. We were designed to be an isolated self-reliant Federal Union of Semi-Sovereign Nation States governed by Republican Virtues and defended by patriotic God fearing free citizen-soldiers serving in regulated state militias. Free Civic-minded citizens whom can speak their minds freely, keep and bare their own arms, own property, and pursue their own happiness. Like Rome (a federation of Republican city-states interestingly enough), US became an empire by accident. I honor our servicemen and women who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. I thank them for their sacrifices, they are real heroes and I am thankful beyond words for them. However, we never should have been there in the first place. It was a strategic mistake that quite frankly only benefited China. Saudi Arabia and I suspect China were the main players behind 9/11. Our unnecessary entanglement in foreign affairs is how we ended up there. It’s what cost the lives of so many good American heroes. The Petro-Dollar system, international finance/cheap debt consumerism, and our taking up the mantle of world police is what has caused most of our current problems, including our slow moral decline. There is fair criticism there. However, USA doesn’t deserve to collapse. Very few nations in history have handled the degree of relative power we have amassed since WW2 as gracefully and as benevolently as ours. For example, Canada and Mexico are still sovereign nations, the Japanese and Germans are still a people, and instead of attempting to conquer the world we have attempted to build a peaceful union of sovereign prosperous nations to stand besides us. Most hegemonic nations do no such thing. With half of the world’s GDP, more manufacturing power than all other nations combined, and as the only nuclear power in the immediate aftermath of WW2, we could have conquered most of the world if we had so chosen in the late 1940s. Most nations similarly positioned would have made that move. The Soviets obviously would have. My source for this claim is pretty much all of recorded human history. If the dark day ever comes where the PRC or Russia run the world, I very much suspect the world will miss our era of hegemony. As the expression here goes, you don’t know what you got till it’s gone. USA is an exceptional nation, I’m proud to be an American, and I love my country. I know America will recover from this and will have another Great Awakening. I believe in my fellow citizens. Both on the left and on the right. It may take some hard times for us, but America still has a destiny and good to do for the world. It’s a real shame to see Americans such as yourself having such a negative opinion of their own country.
"The Battle Hymn of the Republic" was written during the Civil War by abolitionist writer " Julia Ward Howe" on the morning of November 18,1861. Today it is one of the most iconic patriotic songs in United States history. Christ died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, while God is marching on... God Bless the United States of America for the Bible says in Psalm 33:12: " Blessed in the nation whose God is the Lord (Jesus Christ), the people He chose for His inheritance." Glory! Glory! @@secretforreddit I'm pretty sure you are wrong. Jesus Christ our Lord gave his life in order to spare our lives from God. God was going to wipe the Earth clean of all man kind because he did not like what we have become. Jesus Christ paid for your sins so that you could live. The only way to Heaven is to ask for forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
@@danielscott9769 God promised Noah that he would never again try to wipe the Earth clean of humanity after the flood; to biblical scholars, this promise is known as the Berit, a concept best translated as God's promise to never again punish humanity in such a way and to trust them with their own salvation. When things became particularly bad, God sent his son in human form to die for the sins of humanity, therefore requiring only one human to die and therefore continuing to fulfill the Berit. I have taken an extraordinary amount of theological courses, and I can assure you that you are incorrect in your assertion that Jesus gave his life to stop God from destroying all of humanity.
@@secretforreddit @Daniel Scott both of you are wrong. Jesus never claimed to be working to alleviate worldly suffering, John 15:18-25 18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’" and especially not to entrust us with our own salvation, unless I am misinterpreting what you're saying. John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but through me". nor did he do it because he would make God mad and destroy humanity, as secret forreddit has already mentioned. The orthodox (not the denomination, I am using the literal sense of the word) view on the crucifixion is to enable the synthesis of God's mercy and justice, by taking the punishment of the sin of mankind upon himself. I would like to hear your opinion on this given your theological background.
As a 45-year-old war veteran, I’ve lost every relationship and failed at everything. Four days ago, I was crying in bed and prayed to God. I told Him I had nothing to offer but my broken heart. He spoke to me, saying, “It’s okay to fall apart, I’ve got you.” Then He said, “I’ve got amazing things in store for you, just trust me.” I also want to mention Teresa Janette Brock, who changed my life. After reading about her, I found her website and reached out. Her kindness led me to a business venture I never imagined I’d enjoy. Her guidance gave me a new sense of purpose and community. Now, I feel more fulfilled and happier than ever. This song and Teresa’s influence have been true blessings in my life!

The man who sang it was Charles McCabe, an Army chaplain. It was at a meeting of the Christian Commission in the Capitol Building. Chaplain McCabe was born and raised in Athens, Ohio. JESUS died for our sins on the cross, HE shed HIS holy, innocent , precious blood for us (HIS blood washes away ALL sins) HE was buried but on the third day GOD raised HIM from the dead. All you have to do to be saved is: Believe in JESUS, trust in HIS blood. JESUS did everything for you, no works are required for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9)!!…..

Slaves. The literal chains arent metal anymore, they're so called "income tax," they're the "cost of living," they're the time clock at "work."
And the american hybrid hyper-capitalistic communism system wrecks & wastes almost everything.

You should check out the original version of this song, "John Brown's body".
John Brown by William W. Patton
Old John Brown’s body lies moldering in the grave,
While weep the sons of bondage whom he ventured all to save;
But tho he lost his life while struggling for the slave,
His soul is marching on.
John Brown was a hero, undaunted, true and brave,
And Kansas knows his valor when he fought her rights to save;
Now, tho the grass grows green above his grave,
His soul is marching on.
He captured Harper’s Ferry, with his nineteen men so few,
And frightened "Old Virginny" till she trembled thru and thru;
They hung him for a traitor, themselves the traitor crew,
But his soul is marching on.
John Brown was John the Baptist of the Christ we are to see,
Christ who of the bondmen shall the Liberator be,
And soon thruout the Sunny South the slaves shall all be free,
For his soul is marching on.
The conflict that he heralded he looks from heaven to view,
On the army of the Union with its flag red, white and blue.
And heaven shall ring with anthems o’er the deed they mean to do,
For his soul is marching on.
Ye soldiers of Freedom, then strike, while strike ye may,
The death blow of oppression in a better time and way,
For the dawn of old John Brown has brightened into day,
And his soul is marching on.

He WAS part of the generation that gave
l i f e and m e a n i n g to the words - FREEDOM and SACRIFICE.
It is tough, realizing the fact that I can no longer speak to him and give him a hug and say "I love you", here. Yet, as the last song he sang with my sister the day before he went Home says,
"Glory, Glory Hallelujah ......HIS truth is marching on" - it speaks of hope - in the 'One Faithful and True', rest - with a "peace that passes a l l understanding" and a courage - to fulfill the call of lifting high the banner of the One and True Living God, who sustained dads march through this life of 97 years - Jesus Christ.
Rest well dad. Until I too cross unto the golden shores.

Typical whining Brit jingoism.

Know that no matter what happens or what is heard or seen, Americans harbor no ill-will towards the Chinese people.

"As He died to make men holy,
Let us die to make men free"
Always has been an extremely powerful line for me, especially when you remember it was written during the American Civil War, and is what I personally believe makes the song so impactful. Hearing it sung the way it was in this video only reinforced that belief. Though I have heard other performances of this song substitute "let us die to make men free" with "let us live to make men free", which always throws me off.
I dont know how to explaine it but as an atheist i will march to hell for this song.
Ironic that they are saying it is too “gruesome” to include that line in, when it was most often soldiers singing this on the frontlines in the civil war. Ultimately changing it to live undermines the martyrs of our country, for they did die to keep us free, not live.
I think changing it to "live" helps us remember that "living for Christ" is just as important as being willing to die for Him. (and a lot tougher)❤
This is also basically a toned down rewrite of John Brown’s Body

to turn the world's ignorance into empathy
to treat our fellow men without aggression
As we love each other unconditionally

USA is a human nation, therefore it’s not perfect.
C0I5 Gaming How about the part where we helped save your country from the nazis.
Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! God's Truth is Marching On!

@@Rickblaine1942 He was murdered for standing up to the injustices of his society in order to improve conditions for minorities and all people downtrodden by society. It would be great if so-called christians paid attention to all that...
I wouldn't think there is a better version of this to be found anywhere, truly amazing..god bless from Scotland.
